My phone has been going haywire for the last month. Its extremely pissing me off. It'll restart all the time by itself and now it thinks the enter button is stuck so trying to do ANYTHING wont work because enter keeps opening whatevers selected..
so I got my replacement in the mail from tmobile today, and I wanted to flash the tmobile ruu back on my old wing before I sent it back in. I downloaded the new version off tmobiles site and it had an error during install. Doesnt seem like the ruu is going to load over the open touch I've got on there now.
Suggestions?

I missed that thread. Thanks!
use flashcenter (uspl) with the tmobile rom)
my understanding...was that...to get rid of hardspl, you needed to use the uspl or flashcenter to flash the original tmobile rom...and it'll write over the hardspl.
Well I went through it, and everything was going as the installer said it should, but when the update utility started to run to flash back the old ruu it gave me a connection error and quit.. I suppose I'll give it another shot.
I actually extracted the files from the newest Tmobile ROM and just used the flashcenter to put it on my HARDSPL'd Wing. It seemed pretty quick to.
But you can try this here then flash the newest ROM

so you just updated your ipl & spl but then flashed a custom rom?
or did you flash the new tmobile rom then flash a custom?
I was getting the connection error as well, I restarted holding down the camera button to go to the bootloader, then run the t-mobile rom.
Hey sorry for the long time without replying. But i did a search for my posts and noticed i never answered back here.
What i was talking about is, if you use WinRaR you can extract the Tmobile exe file which gives you the flash center files, SPL.nbh and RUU_Signed.nbh. With the phone hardSPL'd you can just run the ROMUpdateUtility.exe and it will install the OEM WM6 from TMobile.
Nice and easy eh?
To extract an exe file with WinRaR, you have to right click the file and choose extract files.

I was running xelencin's latest custom rom. I have used his previous versions and all was good.
This one hung at 98%. I was just letting it do its thing when out of nowhere, BSOD. So now my phone is just sitting at 98%. I thought there was a forum post here about recovering but I'm not able to find it.
Thanks.
Update: After a soft reset, I am back to the multicolor screen. When I plug it in, it says USB in the bottom left hand corner. Device manager shows a PocketPC USB Sync device as well.
When I perform a hard reset (Comm Button + Voice Dial held, then press soft reset with stylus), I am taken right back to the same multicolor screen.
You're at the bootloader.
This is a Good Thing(tm).
At this point, you should be able to rerun any (assuming you are CID unlocked) any RUU ROM upgrade. Let it do its thing and you'll be good to go.

For those that get stuck here in the future:
I had to extract the installer so as I could get past the CID unlock. I then ran "ROMUpdateUtility_Wizard_NoID.exe" and all went well!

Yep, I went thru the exact same thing yesterday when trying to upgrade to 2.24. My PC decided to shutdown (not restart, a complete instant shutdown!) at 8% flashing. I decided to grab the "Mr Clean AKU2.3 ROM" which already had the ROM flash program available separately and then just put in the .nbf file I wanted and it was good to go
if your not cid unlocked, then what? xtract what? to wherehow can i transfer any thing, it seems though the device screen says usb, the avtivesync doesnt detects my phone. n?m, ive got it
What happen when your not CID unlocked? I had removed my hardspl before I tried to again flash a rom. I am stucked with the bootloader now...
Pls help

Only Official stock rom or the wizard_love rom will get flashed,no other wm6 rom is possible.
ok ive done a search and not come up trumps.
Im looking at buying a so called bricked wizard of ebay for either spares or as a test to try and learn somit new.
The guy has flashed a g3 rom on a g4 device and now its dead.
as there any way to get the original rom back onto the device and breath some life into it ?
Ask him if he's able to get into the bootloader. If he is, it's very possible to revive it.
If not, run away!
this is wha he said !
"unit boots into a screen that say xda power or something like that.basically a phone engineer said that it was corrupt,if you understand these devices i flashed a g4 device with a g3 rom"

A 'bricked' device works the same way a brick does, i.e, does nothing (not even start)
Since that unit does boot into something i believe there's still a chance to make it work again, but... it's not a sure thing.
ok well when it comes i cant start looking at trying to fix it.
if it cant be fixed it will be good for spares for my currently dodgy g4.
what kind of things should i be trying when it comes then >

The only thing you can try is to put the phone into bootloader and try to flash another rom. Dont get your hopes up though, flashing a G3 rom to a G4 tends to make this impossible.
Good Luck
so to get in bootloader what combination of buttons is it ? and i guess i just run the carriers update program to put the standard rom back on the device or is there something else i have 2 run ?

You could have had the answer faster and easily if consulting the wiki
The way to enter the bootloader is by keeping voice-dial button pressed while poking softly the reset hole with the stylus
ta.
then run the carriers updater proggy ?
I know i should but I just thought id ask
But be sure to flash one from the ORIGINAL provider unless you're sure the CID is unlocked!
ive got the original british o2 rom here so will use that.
just a quick question. is the wizardlov rom one that works on both g3's and 4 ?
Dunno, you must check if the nk.nbf has IPL/SPL files packed and if it has then what DOC version is it for
and how u do that ?

Open the RUU with winrar or other compacter and extract the nk.nbf
Get my tool (WST - check signature), use respective button to extract the files from nk.nbf and see what files are extracted
i have read the wizard lov rom and ther is no ipl/spl files or doc so does this mean safe for g4 ?

Have you extracted chunks from nk.nbf?
there was about 5-6 files extrated when i hit the extract button. to be honest i got a little lost when using it

well, this is where you can't be lost
Go back and make sure that when extracting nk.nbf with WST there are no IPL or SPL files as a result. If such then it's safe to flash to a CID UNLOCKED G4
ok will let u know
ok received phone today
charged it up and turned it on
the phone freezes after the initial splash screen where it confirms the spl and ipl.
Its def a g4 device, i can get to bootloader with no issues, hard reset works fine and ask me if i want to clear rom etc so im going to attempt the flash back with the standard 02 rom .
fingers crossed it works
ok, i am totally confused. i had flashed to three different roms since joining this forum. i tried to flash ttrans OTv5.0UL and nothing happens. bootloader comes up, screen goes white, generic pda menu opens and all seems fine. when phone starts back up, all of my original setting are there just like if i only did a soft reset. i tried again with a different rom and the same thing happens. i have tried 4 times and nothing. can someone please let me know what i am doing wrong
when did you buy your wing???
and are you using flashcenter ?? so it can temporary cid unlock the device?
i got my wing in feb or march 08. yes i do have flash center, and i have used it w/o problems before. i have flashed from touch it to open touch and one of aserg's roms too. i have been using OT 4 lite black for weeks now. i have been watching the threads about the new OT 5. so i downloaded it and nothing new is flashing.
does this help any?

iwas hoping not to bother any of the main guys with this little problem, but i'm glas your here (love your OT's btw ). ok, i am using the standard activesync method.
heres what i do:
1. download new rom and put it inside my RUU folder on my computer's C drive.
2. run the herald-uspl.exe.
3. follow the prompts
thats all i do and it used to work. i don't know if this helps, but it's the only other thing i have been doing diff. on another thread i asked if it was ok to delete old roms out of my RUU folder. i actually removed my OT v4 lite black and then put the OT v5 UL and ran the uspl. do you think thats what it is? maybe you have to have your old version in the RUU before you flash to a new version?
hope this helps
No. You don't have to have anything but your newest ROM in the RUU folder. When flashing, the phone doesn't know or care what you currently have flashed, unless that ROM is causing problems with your active sync. If that's the case, place your phone into bootloader mode, install the stock ROM (unless you have a HardSPL phone, and it sounds like you don't since you're using USPL.) Then boot up the ROM and run the USPL.
ok, so now know what to do, but why did this happen? whats wrong with the herald-uspl?
i just checked my device info and it says im running open touch v3! i thought that i was using v4. i have hard-spl downloaded, but i dont know if i need to use it or not. should it? then try to flash?
Unlock your phone with hars spl then run the exe from ruu folder. This method worked for me. I did not try the other way since my phone is unlocked but it should work aswell.

The HardSPL makes it so that if you flash a bad flash, you don't have to flash into the Stock RUU again just to get a working activesync connection to be able to flash again.
Courtesy of Ivanmmj
Step 1. Download Herald-USPL-Beta3. http://www.megaupload.com/?d=A4N36HLO
Step 2. UnZIP the file into a folder on your Desktop. Let's call it "MyFirstROM" for simplicity's sake. Notice that there is a folder called RUU within this folder now. Keep that in mind.
Step 3. Download your NBH file and unZIP or unRAR it into that RUU folder. Make sure that that NBH file ends up in the RUU folder, not within a folder inside the RUU folder.
Step 4. Place your phone into flightmode.
Step 5. Go back to the MyFirstROM folder and then run USPL.exe
Step 6. Follow the directions on the screen. EXACTLY.
* Your screen on your cell phone will go white around the 75% part of the "second step" now.
* ActiveSync will LOOSE its connection.
Step 7. One step 3 on that black window, the RUU flasher will pop up. Just follow the steps.

Hey, I was scared for a LONG time to do it...I read so much info before I finally decided to do it! It took me like 2 weeks of reading before I decided. It's an EXTREMELY simple process. Plus, it makes flashing easier. I was getting weird errors trying the USPL method sometimes. Anyway, just do this.
FIRST, make sure your IPL number is atleast 4.000 or higher. You can check this by holding the camera button down, and then doing a soft reset. HOld the camera button down till you enter the bootloader menu. (It's like 3 gradient colors).
If it's higher, great, you are ready to proceed.
Next, download this file.
http://rapidshare.de/files/38148213/...l_WM6.rar.html
Unzip it, and it will contain 3 .cab files you need to install in a certain order.
1. Install canonyang.cab
2. Next, aserpolicy.cab
3. disablesecurity.cab.
Do a soft reset.
Put phone in flight mode!!!!
Now, go to the folder you just unzipped that file from. I think the default folder will be called hard-splwm6 or something like that. Go and run the RUU.exe file in it. Just follow the instructions. The screen of your phone will go white, but just wait, wait, and it will reboot itself.
Presto, you are hard spl, and can load whatever rom you wish!
My t-mobile wing will only go to t-mobile screen or bootloader screen, which reads IPL 4.10.0002 SPL 4.10.0000. My computer will not recognize it thru usb. I have read about flashing via sd. i am not very tech savy, but i tried to follow what i could find on the forums.
So far found a ruu rom which the phone will try to read but so far doesnt seem to do anything even after hours of waiting.
Also tried different kind of rom, lzx or something, which the phone also tried to read but gave me a error saying invalid certificate.
Is there anything else to do or am I sunk?
Go to Thewingster dot com. click roms, click tmobile wing, click 6.0 click download, it will take you to the tmobile website.
Enter the number located back of phone under battery. Download the StockRom. make sure you enter your phone into boot loader and install the stock rom. You don't need to be Hard SPLed. Should work because it worked for me. After your phone works just HardSPL your phone so you don't Brick it again.
also when its in bootloader it wont have any notification on your computer.
thx will try suggestion
will try. can i extract a particular file and load it via sd card? that is the only connection i have available right now.
Ya the original Tmobile RUU is in the file. I have never Flashed through Sd card so im not sure how that works.
I've searched everywhere and I can't find an answer.
I purchased an HTC Touch for Sprint today, booted it up/unlocked it, and flashed Android. I realized that I never setup Power Vision in WinMo prior to unlocking/installing Android. I've tried to reinstall the Windows Mobile 6.1 stock rom that came with the phone so that I can get to the EPST menu and update my PV info, but the rom freezes at 29% when I try to flash it.
I'm not vary experienced, so please pardon me if there is a stupidly easy answer. I've flashed a 6.5 rom, but I couldn't figure out how to get to the EPST menu on it to auto-configure my data settings.
If anyone can help me out, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
i also had a lock-up when flashing the official sprint ROM once, and i created a new windows account, re-downloaded the rom, and it worked. no idea why
Hey, what do you mean by a new windows account? Thanks!

If your using the unlocker .40 then that's why, use unlocker .34, only use unlocker .40 if your relocking your phone and flashing back to stock to send in for warranty repair, some phones don't like to flash from usb when relocking.
you might be able to get it to flash from the memory card if you put the nbh from the exe onto the mem card, etc.. or just try to flash a 6.5 rom.
if it just so happens that you can't flash anything and you can't go anywhere past the bootloader, take it into the store, tell them you turned it on and it wouldn't boot and they will take it into the back and reflash it, then start again from the beginning, but remember to provision your phone first.

put your phone in bootloader mode (tricolored screen, hold camera and power, then press and release soft reset). connect to your computer. download andn run the official sprint gps rom (not the stock rom; can use with unlocked phone, won't mess with the unlocker, here, under shipped gps rom newer version in post 1), and allow it to flash your phone. get 3g working however you can - even call sprint if you have to. then flash back to android.
