Software I have tested not to work with the Diamond - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

Skype (latest version)
Program starts, crashes and the Microsoft Error Reporting window shows up.
SPB Backup version 1.xx
Starts to backup, then freezes the entire device.
SPB Backup version 2.00
Starts to backup, goes until "PIM data", then the Diamond suddenly reboots.
Without the TouchFLO 3D plugin running, SPB Backup starts to backup, goes until "System settings" - file "mxip_notify.vol", then freezes the entire device.

wm2005 programs stay open in memory

Hi,
I tried out the wm2005 upgrade, v3 but each time if i open a program and close it again it stays open in the main memory. After opening a couple programs it slows down the PDA significantly. Has anyone got the same problem/a fix for it.
Thanks

Thanks
I use Spb PocketPlus 2.5 w/ WM5 and close all the programs manually or just tell the programm to close all programms while tap on the "X".

Good Backup app

anyone know a good app that would back up my contacts with pictures and all emails? i wanna backup my contacts with all information attached on regular basis.. any suggestions?
I don't know if you'll need something specific for syncing pics and contacts, but I use Sprite Backup and I've had nothing but positive results with it on both my old 6315 and my Qtek (WM5 & 6). It's a bit expensive, but I don't think HP uses Sprite as its OEM backup software for nothing.
JMHO
I use SPB Backup and it work fine. Almost like doing an image of your pocket pc. Once I had to hard reset and and everything was reformatted so I lost all my contacts and programs. Hit the exe file that spb backup made and after about 10 mins, everything was back to normal. Didn't have to resinstall anything
S-K-Tools is enough..
i like the suggestions.. i will be looking into it.. SPB Backup sounds interesting.
If you are on a WM6 ROM make sure you test things out. I haven't used it, but I've heard people say that Sprite Backup (while a really nice program) has issues with restores on WM6 (and on some roms, it just doesn't work).
I've been using SPB backup (will look at paying for it this week) with no problems on AKU3.3 and now WM6 MBE.
SPB
SPB backup works perfectly with WM6 (even differnt ROMs). I made a backup .exe with SPB while on Orwell and then flashed to MB. I did not think the old backup exe would work, but it did and restored most of my contacts, settings, calender and applications back. Some apps did not work but many did.
On the same ROM, I have had perfect results.
I've had no problems with Sprite switching contacts and documents from WM5 to Crossbow. The self-restoring backup files work like a charm and only miss one file when restoring WM6. The file is non-essential.

Manila or main home program

My Pro freezes quite often or more like it says that manila must be stopped and then the main user interface with home etc is empty all other programs work fine. Is there any possibility to start that program without restart.

Alarm5.wav randomly plays

I've asked AT&T for help with this, but they just say, format the rom and start over.
My issue is, throughout the day, at seemingly random times. Alarm5 will play for no apparent reason. There is nothing on the screen. It just plays. I've used SKTools to clean up phantom alarms, to no avail.
Ideally, I'd want to figure out what app is causing this to happen. Because it doesn't start until I install all my apps.
Apps I have installed
SKTools
SPB Mobileshell
SPB Weather2
SPB Time
SPB Phone Suite
youtubeplay
PocketTwitter
Skybook
GooSync
3dtracking
Googlemaps
GPS Test
Kaiser Notification Setup
Live Search
Opera 9.5
Palringo
PowerSMS
SPB Backup
WMWifiRouter
Anyone have any ideas either what app might be causing this or how I can locate what is causing it?
It keeps waking me up at night. I tried to just delete Alarm5.wav but it seems to be protected.

I have had issues with SPB Phone Suite, MobileShell, and Kaiser Notification Setup (if that is the app that changes the blinking light colors and patterns). I cannot remember which one of the the three I listed would randomly disable my sound throughout the day.
Try installing one app at a time use it for a few hours and then install the next. It is unlikely those apps are must haves because there are so many other options.
found it. Kaiser notifications has a feature to alert you of unread txt messages... grr... damn..

Freeing up program memory

Ok here is the deal. I am no complete noob. I googled. I searched the entire forum. What I found was Memmaid and SK Tools. Both do not seem to work properly on my device. I have M-Diamond 1.4.
My problem is, that program memory is filled quite quickly. After a soft reset I have about 45 megs. Device works good. After a day, it is only 40 megs. After 2 days 35. When I reach 32 megs, the device is not usable anymore. Messaging is ultraslow. My homescreen gets messed up. HS++ disappears and the skin gets changed.
After a soft-reset everything is ok again. But I do not want to do a soft-reset again and again after 3 days.
Here are the current services sorted by usage of memory:
filesys.exe 9.42M
device.exe 6.90M
gwes.exe 3.40M
shell32.exe 2.46M
cprog.exe 1.92M
services.exe 1.23M
tmail.exe 1.14M
s2u2.exe 1.09M
+ 11 other services with lower that 1meg of usage
Currently free memory is exactly 35 Megs.
Please spare me with comments like "use forum search" or stuff like that. I did that already.
To anyone who gives me useful advices and perhaps helps me solve this:
Thanks in advance!!!
Hi there. It is important to know what all the other 11 processes are in order to see what is eating up your ram. I use FreeupRam which comes with SK Tools quite effectively. I also use TaskMgr to check what apps and processes are running and close unnecessary ones. You can close tmail for example.
I am not sure what device you are running etc what rom, WM6 or 6.1, you need to give us a bit more info. I am not sure what you mean by M-Diamond 1.4?
What other apps do you have installed? Eg. HTC Home Customiser and PhoneAlalrm were playing havoc on my today screen after resets etc and certain plugins would not display properly or not at all. After uninstalling these and replacing everything with Spb Mobile Shell, I now have a device that works as it should and it suits my requirements 99%.
It seems like it is something else causing the slowdown. I am running Task Facade, S2U2 v1.52, Spb Moble Shell, a couple of Mortscripts, etc and have between 39mb and 45mb free ram and my device is pretty snappy, even when using hardware keyboard and switching to landscape and back.
I suspect it is a plugin or similar app slowing your device down.
Ok here is the full list:
Filesys.exe
Device.exe
Gwes.exe
Shell32.exe
Cprog.exe
Services.exe
S2u2.exe
Remote.exe
Rapiclnt
Quickgps.exe
Tmail.exe
Connmgr.exe
Repllog.exe
Taskmgr.exe
Udp2tcp.exe
Ilock2.exe
Sddaemon.exe
Rnaapp.exe
Nk.exe
The M-Diamond Rom is WM6.1
I have a lot of stuff installed, though I do not use it regularly. Regular use is:
S2U2
S2P
G-Alarm
MyMobiler
File Explorer
Soltair
Opera (not very regularly, but sometimes)
PPCPimBackup
TomTom7
Mobile Navigator 7
MoBlog
Apptodate
As home screen I have a combination of HS++ and UltimateLaunch.

Ok, now I can guess which the culprit is... and the winner is........*drum roll*...
ULTIMATE LAUNCH!!!! and HS++ do not good bedfellows make.
I use HS++, b ut only as a one-liner to see battery temp, battery drain etc etc.
Just try running your device without UltimateLaunch and you will see the difference. I tried it out for a very short while and that was my experience.
Hm ok, I will try without UL. Is there a better launcher you can reccomend?
I had UL deactivated for a while. And I had no real measurable loss in memory. Just a little bit. I believe that if you have multiple tabs in UL and they get loaded they take memory (for icons and such). I have no today plugins integrated into UL, so this is not the reason for huge memory loss.
But now comes the clue. I reactivated UL and just some minutes later I suddenly had 50megs of free memory instead of the 44 megs I had before.
Have to monitor this for a while...
I use Spb Mobile Shell which is commercial, but I am very happy in general and I can highly recommend it. I hardly ever use my today screen anymore. It is fast, snappy, reasonably low on resources, there are many themes available and I like my current setup.
