Diamond at CircuitCity with quad band?? - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

This is interesting. They are in stock in the US at circuitcity with quadband.
http://www.compusa.com/applications...EdpNo=3905608&sku=H224-1036&srkey=htc diamond

i was just about to post that but you mean compusa not circuitcity

Just posted about this here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=401282

actually this is a pass through page from Tiger Direct. And it's tri-band -- it would work fine on T-Mobile, but have problems with coverage on AT&T.

any info or links for this touch you speek of?
htc.com...its a new touch-dual that was released with TWO keyboards
The new Touch is only gonna be tri-and I beleive, and only 2100MHz 3G (that's used in Asia), thus no 3G except in Asia. Also, I believe it won't have WiFi. And it doesn't have GPS. Those 3 factors would hurt its appeal to me.
Oh, and it only has one keypad, but its configured like the Blackberries with SureType (each key has 2 letters on it.)
I was interested too, but yes, no Wifi, no GPS, no real keyboard and smaller 2.6" screen too

enough wrong said maybe...
3G 850/1900/2100 HSDPA and HSUPA. So not only Asia...
And there ARE 2 keyboard versions like mentioned above:
normal numeric-mobile or xt9-20key (like suretype)
Yep, the one that was officially announced does NOT have SureType, at least not the ones they showed at the press conference.
On the bright side, it's a quite a bit smaller than the Kaiser, for those for whom size matters more than usability.

Hey, I'm just going off of what their product sheet says:
http://www.europe.htc.com/z/pdf/products/HTC_Touch_Dual_CH_EN_300907.pdf
Network:
HSDPA 2100MHz
GSM/GPRS/EDGE: Tri-band 900, 1800, 1900
And yes there are 2 diff types of keyboards: a 9-digit and a SureType like one. That doesn't bother me, as I could work with either (i.e. neither of those make me not want it). but until they have a confirmed quad-band true worldwide GPRS/GSM/EDGE/UMTS/HSDPA one on all 3G frequencies currently in use like the Kaiser AND WiFi, I won't be interested. But if you are, cool.
And yes, 2100 is used in Europe, I did forget that. It's used in Europe and in Asia, not in the US.
Sorry, that's gay.
I'll keep my Kaiser manphone - and leave the vibrator look a likes for the chicks.
*snigger*
(plus I can't wait!)

It's the same CPU as in the Kaiser, bud - Qualcomm MSM7200 400MHz.
gonna keep my paperweight for a while
here is a comprehensive review plus pictures of the htc touch dual:

Still like the Kaiser better, but damn, that is a comprehensive review. I think it's got screen shots of every window possible.
Jeez thats the most in depth review I ever saw!
well done to him!

Does Diamond support USA GSM bands? I think mine do.

Correct me if I am wrong but I think my Diamond (bought from Hong Kong) support USA GSM network. Please see the attached picture, it shows UMTS8500+1900 + GSM850+1900 as an option in the phone setting manual.
I made this post because I saw many people complain that the first batch of Diamond doesn't support USA GSM bands but only the Asia and Euro one.
Can u check al lines, mines is:
UMTS(900+2100)+GSM(900+1800)
UMTS(850+1900)+GSM(850+1900)
UMTS(800+2100)
UMTS(850+2100)+GSM(900+1800)
UMTS(850)+GSM(900+1800)
UMTS(1700)
Mine is working is USA!
It may support those bands but it wont actually get you 3G access in America because the non American Diamonds are missing the 3G attenna. Its not a software problem but a hardware problem.
If you want to use 3G in America then wait till the American version of the Diamond is out.
the bands being able to be selected means that the RIL (radio interface layer) CAN support those bands, that DOES NOT MEAN that your Phone Hardware can support it.
The software interface is probably not smart enough to adjust itself to match hardware.
The HK Diamond hardware spec said it is a triband GSM phone. It does not have GSM850. I'm not sure if this is just a marketing / sales spec.
Anyone tested this in the US? Or any hardware/radio engineer on this forum to validate this spec?

Well the HK Diamond Spec is incorrect, it "could" be quoting the US specs but the US version isnt out for another month at least.

I though this would be a good place to post this question.
I have the same bands listed as post # 2. Now my phone came out of the box like it is. No radio or rom upgrades, yet. Does that mean its Quad band unlocked already from the box? Or do I still have to load the latest radio?
Hard to say without knowing wich radio you have.

My radio is 1.00.25.03, so I would assume it's not quad band without putting one of the newer radios?
triband TD
when i got my TD, it was listed a triband. I could still use in the USA because
ATT uses 900 band also. However, their primary band is 850. THe reception with the 900 only band was spotty. I then flashed my ROM (see below) and a new radio.....05 and immediately got 4 bars where i got 1 or none. MUch improvement. However, you will NOT get 3G until you get a USA phone. It uses Edge now, (which for me is fast enough). ITs a hardware think not a ROM or radio upgrade thing to get 3G.
BTW this is my current ROM and i am very happy with my TD now. Best phone ive ever had.
Rom 1.93.456.2 WWE
Rom Date 7-10-08
Radio Version 1.00.25.05
Hard SPL 1.24
Protocol Version 52.29.25.12H

I saw your auction. Sorry, but I can't believe you're getting 3G on that phone without at least ONE bar showing in the pic!!
If the european version is missing the antenae then if he was in an area with strong enough signal wouldn't it show the 3G icon and maybe even only one bar, but that is not usable.

The 3G has nothing to do with the bars.. it says 3g next to the bars if you have it.. (at the same place as the active sync icon is) I haven't seen the picture though so I'm not going to say anything..

So that makes me wonder why you haven't dumped the radio off the phone and let other people test it out. If in fact it is just a DIAM100 model with a modified radio to unlock the 850 gsm band.

Will the unlocked Tilt work on the new T-Mobile 3G Network??

Anyone want to buy me an HD7

I want an HD7 and wondered if any XDA-member could purchase one from o2 and i would pay them through PayPal and they could ship me the phone. I am in the US and on AT&T
Why don't you just go down to Walmart? They have them there already. Besides you'r on ATT and will get no 3g I thought with one from O2? I believe you need one from Telstra (Australian) network and your 3g will work.

I see the rebel sim cards are being developed for wp7 so perhaps 3g is still in the game if i get a tmobile version. I s being on edge versus 3g really that big of a difference anyway?
oh yeah, it's like swimming in tar lol (edge).
Isn't the phone Quad Band? Surely the device will work on all of the GSM networks?
I hope it's that or it's going to be quite a mission finding the right device to work on the right networks int the right countries.
in the u.s., the only 2 big gsm carriers (at$t, t-mo) operate on different bands. the rest of the world is ok lol, the telstra(sp) operates on at$t w/ 3g, any one else on t-mo gets edge.

Ah, ok
So would the T-Mobile HD7 work on standard GSM bands (900MHz and 1800MHz for South Africa)?

[Q] HTC Tilt 2 from HK work fully on AT&T?

I see these for sale on Ebay:
Sorry can't post a link as yet but it's listed as:
HTC Touch Pro2 Tilt 2 T7373 from the Vendor cellphoneforever
It says it will work on AT&T here in the USA but will there be anything missing that will reduce or cripple it's use on that network like 3G functionality?
Thanks.
