Here's the story...
I backed up everything with PIM backup before flashing Dutty's new diamond rom... afterwards I restored using PIM backup and everything except the text messages was restored... When I try to only restore the text messages, my device freezes... only about 30 messages come back when I restore... and it only gets all the way through restore only if it's just been flashed...
I had about 4,000 text messages backed up... a little over 340 were unread... all of which might be important... so if I could get this fixed it would be great... While at work I don't have time to check my messages so I check them at night but decided to update the ROM before reading my unread messages last night...
PIM backup has worked like a charm in the past when I updated from 6.0 to 6.1... this is my first "cooked rom" though...
I apologize if this is a repeat... But anything I've tried when I searched didn't work...
I may have figured out what the problem is...
On the old rom... the text messaging account was under the name "Text Messages" while on the new rom the name is "SMS/MMS"... I've read that different account names can cause a problem but then there isn't anything that tells how to change them like I'm expected to know how... maybe I'm dumb...
Sooo how do I change this back...? Could this be the problem?

Thanks for the friendly warning...
seems I only broke a "law of the land" seeing as how I didn't post in that thread... in the last 24 hours I've read most of that thing... just hadn't gotten to the last few pages where they start discussing this issue... I wasn't sure if it was a particular Kaiser issue or not...
congrats on 1,000 posts...
apparently I can't delete my own thread soooo... lil' help mods?

Anycome come accross the scenario of having to (or being forced to) delete an existing email account and then trying to recreate it?
I have deleted my POP3 account, and then tried to recreate it using the same name as previously. I get a pop up box telling me that 'that name is already assigned to an account, please choose a unique name' or something like that.
This behaviour persists even after soft reset. Does anyone know where the name(s) of the email accounts are stored on the TyTN II - is it the registry or one of the system databases? I've searched the registry for the name of the account I was trying to use and come up with nothing.
I remember having the same problem with the original TyTN, is there a fix for this little bug?

FrankyG
The Messaging app is really weird. This might not be the same issue with yours, but I got one strange problem as well before:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=330224&highlight=one+more+Cannot+recognize
Cannot find any solution elsewhere, tried a lot of forums, Microsoft WinMo forum ...
I ended up with hard-reset ... and it works. Now, I dont have the issue anymore (knock3 ... ).
I know this is an old thread but it might help future users

I know this is an old reply and an even older thread, but I have to say thank you! I searched through tons of threads that did not help me solve this issue. I got a replacement phone of same model and moved the Sprite Backup data to the new phone which went fine, I just couldn't pull up the old email account even though TouchFlo saw it. It just wouldn't show up in Messaging and I couldn't recreate the account cause it kept saying an account by that name already existed. This tool worked great to fix my issue. Thanks again!

Welcome to the forum. It's really refreshing to see a first time poster who's read the rules, searched (comprehensively) and found their own solution without starting a duplicate thread. It just goes to show, the information is usually out there for the taking if you persist. I wish more people behaved this way.
Sorry about this question in this forum, but i'm fed-up with snoozing in WM calendar. Many peoples wanted and still want some different "snooze times" (etc. 30 minutes) in calendar. I was "googleing" for some registry tweaks, but nothing.
I found this thread in General discussion, but nothing:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=380283
I'm posting here, because here are the best gurus and i have Kaiser too.
Please help.
Moving this to the Kaiser Software section since it's not ROM specific.
I want to know this also. I've been searching and have found nothing about this.
I saw in one post a guy saying that a repeting snooze time (15 min. was appearing twice) could be a error made by the chef of the ROM.
So, I assume we can, someway or another, change the snooze times for alarms and notifications.
I've tried searching the registry but, since i'm not very used to doing that, i've had no luck at all...
The biggest problem I find in flashing ROMs is setting up my four email accounts, signatures etc. each time. Most other program installations I can cope with easily.
I'm sure these account details must be stored in an easily accessible registry key but I really can't figure out where.
Is there any easy way to backup these details (not the messages themselves, it's the settings I'm interested in) so that I can restore them easily when trying a new ROM?

Did you search? Did you try google?
Let me do that for ya
PIM Backup, SPB Backup, Sprite Backup, Resco Backup, Sashimi.......
SEARCH!!!!!!!!
Yes I did search. Yes I did google. I did research. and I am a responsible member of this community and respect a lot of what you and others (including myself) contribute to this forum.
I also read questions carefully before I reply. Had you done the same, you might have realised that the solutions you refer to do not do what I want. I am not interested in backing up the messages themselves but rather the settings of the accounts: servers, download schedules, logon names etc.
As you say:
Never ASSUME anything as it makes an ASS out of U and ME so perhaps you should be more careful before you flame. But thanks for taking the time to try and help.

Been one of those days were I seem to get constantly contacted by noobs or see posts by them all looking for basics. I'm always the first to admit it when I'm wrong, so my apologies.
In response to your query I also did a bit of searching, unfortunately with no solution.
Understandable - just didn't want you to confuse me with one of them! Thanks again for trying to help.
hello,
If your rom is UC compliant the following link might give you some tips.

thank you very mach, work great, nothing to sorry for, solution is real
sashimi has a tool included, which can backup your email accounts and your settings for wireless connections. its called makisu
the best is, to use sashimi together with makisu
so rom flashing becomes very easy after setting up the application
http://www.winmo-experts.com/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=4
yes I'd also recommend sashimi +makisu (the latter is included in the sashimi package as well, but can also be downloded seperately). Makisu let you backup your email and wlan configurations in an xml file and restore it with a new flashed ROM. Sashimi supports many other config burdens after flashing: cab autoinstallation, registry settings, file operations and skripts. And it is working very accurate
PS ... but for signatures I havent seen anything in it... but will work, if the signature is file based or part of an ini-file (with sashimi)

It would be wonderfull, if you can elaborate more and give us a sort of How-To.
TIA
Try this...
After setting up your email accounts and before a sync, take a backup using Sprite (or what ever) but only backup your email settings. Then you can restore from this on your new ROM. I've been doing this but dont use signatures so not sure of that of that.
I've used SettingsSavior in the past. Works ok for 6.1 - bit flaky with 6.5.
It looks a bit like an abandoned project, but still works OK for email accounts and common registry settings. I don't have a link, just google and usually find it. (It's free)
Hi please help every time i link the contacts in my phonebook to facebook on either of these ROMs it only every downloads the first photo in my phonebook from facebook. Ive tried updating manually from the facebook tab but to no avail. Never had the problem with any previous ROM from Duttys R12 or backwards. Its really annoying when im trying to put my contacts without pics on the people tab. Any ideas???

did you post your question in the Dutty/PhamQuang ROM threads? if not, that's where it should be. there are more readers in those threads and they may have a solution for you. opening a new thread for a ROM related issue is frowned upon by the moderators and usually results in the thread (your thread) being closed very soon. hope you find an answer!
As above, couldn't have worded it any better. I understand its your first post, but try to abide by the forum rules. Ta

Manilla is showing that I have 1 unread sms, when I check there is not. I click "all messages" to get to the WM inbox but there are no unread messages in there.
I have tried to go to tools and "clear SMS/MMS", this wipes all messages, and when I look in the inbox it's empty, but when i click on the "inbox"tab to show the whole sms tree I see inbox with a blue "1" in brackets. I have also tried a sof reset, with no effect.
Any of you guys come accross this before?
BTW this has only started since I recieved an SMS while TomTom was running, and I had to ignore it.
Cheers for any help you can offer
Perhaps the mail still is on the server. Try to delete the mail configuration and then configure it again.
no luck
I tried to do that, but was unable to delete the "SMS" account. I also tried inserting a SIM card from a different opperator, but this did no good either.
Hey all,
i've got the same problem since yesterday... posted it already in the topic where aqll post their problems with new WM6.5
hope someone has a solution!
I've got an official WM6.5 HTC german ROM
I'm having the same problem mate (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=579772) but now manila home screen is showing i have 2 new messages when in fact i have none. I had a good scoot in the registry but there's nowt there to reset MS's inbox (as far as i could see but then again i'm not a reg buff).
I've read elsewhere that this "new message" is a known issue in WinMo 6.5..
Hoppe there's a fix for it soon...or someone here can help us out
Cheers
Mo
thanks!
Thanks for the info guys.
Has anyone seen this issue on WM6.1?

Yes, I had it on 6.1. Only started last week, but I installed 6.5 last night so I have managed to cure it, albeit in a rather extreme way.

I don't think I want to re-flash 6.5.....but that 1 message symbol is realy starting to bug me!!
For those who fixunreadcount did not work for "ghost" messages.
Try using Ceregeditor it is simple to find, works very well... I used it for my HTC pure. If you have a problem unlocking your phone, there a few threads on forums i read on how to do it. If your phones already unlocked.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\System\State\Messages\sms\Unread
Double-click on COUNT and change the number to 0 (zero). You should see the change immediately on your phone -- you don't have to do a save. If it works then save.
Worked for me instantly! Thanks to rdphoto on ppcgeeks.com, any questions on anything ill try and help, hope it works
