User Interfaces from other WM6.1 phones - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

With all the new WM 6.1 devices coming up, each with their own nice 3D user interfaces, would it be possible to exchange these UIs from one device to another? WOuld it for instance be possible to extract the Omnia user interface from the samsung sgh-i900 and run it as a today application on the HTC Touch Diamond? Or the Sony Ericsson Experia X1s interface? And vice versa...
I would expect this to be possible since it is a WM6.1 device, or am I wrong? What would be needed?

I expect to see Manilla and Xperia homescreens running on each others hardware.

Omnia Home screen on Diamond

Hallo all... a though... Touch Flo 3D is just an app... and one can run the SPB homepage and theme as an App...
Why not get and run some of the Omnia Homescreens as apps to replace Touch flo 3D and give you different opetions.. and for that matter the Xperia X1 homescreen... same hardware.. and just software on Mobile 6.1
Should work?
err have you ever used an omnia? it would be great to have touchflow3d on omnia but having touchwiz on diamond? blargh... i hated that thing seems so childish
How about the X1 interface?
Well yes, the Omnia interface... was more an example than a request... I think the X1's interface might be a little more worth the effort....
What do you guys think?
i think both interfaces may be higly problematic because they are made for widescreen (as the x1 and omnia have one->the diamond not)
look here
they are already playing with the rom

Diamond vs Sony XPERIA 1

guys i love my diamond but i like the look of the new sony xperia 1 - any comparisons?
Since it has Keyboard, it should be compered to Touch Pro and not to Diamond...
the xperia 1 is nice, but check out the HTC Touch HD (granted no keyboard but look at that screen)
what i really wanted to know was whether or not it would be as customisable as the diamond (TP is basically same as diamond apart form keyboard)
i.e. can you put a standard windows today screen on it
anyway was just wondering if anyone on here had one as its just come out and coul compare its functionality and battery life etc to HTC phones

Windows Mobile 6.5 MIGHT be available for Diamond!

Upgrading to Windows Mobile 6.5: We know of a few phones that will be upgradable from 6.1 to 6.5, and Microsoft is clarifying this position a little. Mainly in that if they meet a minimum hardware standard — 128MB RAM, 400 MHz processor — they may be available for an upgrade. But that's still up to the partners (read: Manufacturers/carriers) to choose to do so.

It would be AWESOME if we can upgrade to windows mobile 6.5, and so be able to use marketplace. We need 128MB RAM and 400MHZ processor, which means our Diamond should be suitable for 6.5!
Doubt it, but unofficially; yes we will get 6.5 on our phones. But we will not thank HTC for that.
Well yes, ofcourse we will be able to receive 6.5.
But i hope HTC will make it official for Diamond users. But i dont think that will happen...
I hope so too, but let's be honest: if it wasn't for the good folks here at xda-devs, our phones would be pretty mediocre. So I don't see it happening officially. But I'd be very happy to be proven wrong.
The Touch Diamond does not conform to the WM 6.5 specs, HTC are not allowed to release it for the Diamond.
Perhaps we should start an online petition to get HTC to bring WM6.5 to the Touch Diamond officially.
Windows Mobile 6.5 MIGHT be available for Diamond!
Yes it will be.. but some advanced featured will be unavailable..

which features do you mean?
I thought no hardware Start key = No WM 6.5?
Funny that the previous generation phones had hardware Start/OK then they stopped putting them on after the iPhone came out.

It is handy to have the Start Key but that is not a showstopper. Having said that I do miss the many hardware buttons that were available back in the days of Hermes.
I believe the MS home key is required to allow htc to put wm6.5 on their devices. So I don't think there will be any official upgrade for the diamond or any phone that doesn't have this key. Also MS wants to change the name 'smartphone' to windows mobile phone :S Don't think this applies to the Diamond though but still..
What I'm still wondering is if tf3d2 will be available on the HTC update of wm6.5 on the diamond2..
this would be awesome to have 6.5 on my phone

I heard this too, but then practically no phones would be able to upgrade, and wouldn't the dude in the quote at the start have mentioned that?
Diamond and WM 6.5
I think any hardware key can be set as Windows Key, it's simply a software setting; it needs only mapping it in the ROM.
The new phones is coming with full touch screen, Microsoft is very stupid to pretend a special hardware key!!!!!

Question on compatability

So with custom ROMs on our X1s exactly what programs are compatabile with our phones from other devices? e.g., will HTC Touch Diamond or HTC Touch Pro games work with the Sex1? I know that programs specifically made for the X1 still work fine even with custom ROMs...at least, in my experience.
I see lots of softwares available for HTCs and I know some work with our phones, but a lot of them do not list the Sex1 on their compatibility list.
It's all about the OS and the chipses/drivers. Xperia can run everything made for WinMo and most of the things made specifically for the newer HTC devices, because of the same chipset/drivers.

[Q]Need your opinions/help about SE x1

Hi everyone
I need your help/opinions about SE x1 windows mobile 6.1 because i'am just new at this phone so i have many things to learn.. i saw some amazingly cool applications here but not worked at my phone properly like EzInput keyboard, i like that application but it doesn't work right, it appears small on screen,, can someone help me? thank's in advance..
list off questions
1.what is SIP?
2.what is the best windows mobile version for touchflo 3d?
3.what is best version of touchflo 3d with landscape mode?
4.SPB mobile shell panel is like touchflo 3d in today panel?
5.what is SPL and ROM do i have to change/upgrade it to install applications?
someome pls help me thank's in advance
EZinput probably doesnt work because you need the WVGA version of it. Your phone screen has a WVGA resolution.
SPL and ROM, you can go to the Xperia X1 HardSPL thread and find more information about it.
I dont think theres any "best" version of windows or TouchFlo3D because they all have their pro and cons. You can just try it by yourself and see which one you like the most.
TouchFlo3D and SBP shell have nothing to do with each other. They both change your today screen though. You wouldnt need a ROM change/update if the software you're trying to install is compatible with your current one. Judging from what you said, your current ROM is running Windows Mobile 6.1. So you should be looking for WinMo 6.1 applications that are compatible with your WVGA resolution.
thanks XtriFe for answering it, i saw some touchflo 3d but forgot the version, in the instructions for installing, one of it say's change the SIP something, what is that SIP or SIP selector..? thanks again
The easiest way to get Touch Flo on the X1 is to flash a new ROM with TouchFlo. There are helpful tutorials on the ROM development section on how to download and flash custom ROMs.
SIP can stand for 2 things, either as Soft Input Panel, meaning input apps like the onscreen keyboard and handwriting recognition, or Seesion Initiation Protocol, usually in connection with VOIP programs. For your question, it's most probably referring to the first one.
SPB mobile shell is an app to customize the toda screen, and there are versions of it that make our Today screen look like the TouchFlo interface, but you're not limited to TouchFlo (see Windows Mobile Development and Hacking>Themes for SPB MS themes/layouts)
Magkano bili mo sa X1 mo?
thank's harvey
