[Walkthrough] How to fix your bricked phone

So, you've decided that your shiny new toy isn't very well setup by default. You flashed a ROM and lo and behold, you missed some instruction somewhere and now you think it's bricked.
Here's the good news:
It's not bricked!!
Bricked means that it's dead and it's in no way or shape recoverable.
There is still a chance. (As long as you didn't try to hardSPL with another Device's SPL...)
All you have to do is:
For the WING:
Hold the Camera button and WHILE holding it, soft reset the device (that means press the little hole above the memory card with the stylus.) That will bring you to the bootloader. Now download the appropiate RUU and run that program. A few minutes later and your new shiny toy is back to it's crappy OEM but working self!
I'll put in links for those who can't find them...

I know, but most people don't search. I figured, maybe if it says "How to fix your bricked phone" on the title, they might get the idea.
It was actually done mostly as a joke...

I used the hardSPL from this thread..

It worked successfully and I was able to restart into WM6. Then I tried loading the TouchIT 4.4 and it installed cleanly with no errors. But when I went to restart it, my Wing just sits there at the CanonYang boot screen and never changes.
I tried using the steps here to restore the tmo default rom, but it after 1% on the progress bar, the screen goes blank and the CanonYang screen comes back. Is there anything I can do?
edit: I can get to the bootloader screen with the color bars. I'm not sure if this additional info will be of any help.

SPL 4.70.yang!!! your device is HARD-SPL!!
So going back to stockrom--> delete the SPL.nbh from EVERY RUU you are running.
Then it shouldn´t stop......

Big Thanks papa! That did the trick. My Wing is happy once again and running Open Touch. But I still want to give TouchIt another try.

And what if i cant find stock RUU mine came with some arabic keyboard and spl was 1.08 , thanks to Oli he didnt mention that SPL should be 4 or higher , so device is bricked since first Olis release and no way to find this arabic stock RUU.
Any Help ?????

If the device had an spl of 1.08 prior to HardSPLing it, then you'll have to bring the device to your nearest repair center. There isn't a way around that. Oli doesn't know everything and that's the risk we take when we try new and experimental things that people create but have no way of testing. But, we live and learn. If it wasn't for that issue, you could always cook your own ROM and if the HardSPL was working, you could've easily flashed any ROM. But the keyboard wouldn't been wrong until you could find someone who had the correct keyboard and you extracted the ROM from it and cooked that keyboard driver into your ROM.

I used your guide to flashing my HTC P4350 at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=358615.
It was in French and I wanted it in English. So I downloaded one of the official HTC ROMs "HTC_P4350_WWE_4.17.405.2_4.1.13.44_02.94.90_Ship.exe" assuming this was the English one because all the others couldn't have been.
I copied the "RUU_signed.nbh" from the above HTC ROM and put it into the RUU folder as instructed by yourguide (I didn't copy the SPL.nbh file). I then ran the herald-uspl.exe and everything went fine until the RUU utility stopped with the error "invalid vender ID".
The RUU exited without completing, now all I get when the device boots is the screen giving my IPL (1.08.001) and SPL (1.08.001). How do I flash another ROM from this state? I can't do it the "normal" way because ActiveSync can't see the device. When I try to use the RUU tool that comes with your tool, the progress bar shows then it says the tool can't be used with my device.
Someone please help!

Oh wow. I'm so sorry. I think I may have forgotten to put up a warning for people that have an SPL lower than 4.0. Was your SPL lower than 4.0? If it was, you cannot use the USPL OR the HardSPL and they end up writing part of the ROM over your current SPL and brick the device. This, unfortunately, needs to be fixed by your local repair center. I'll talk to the Mods about unlocking that thread so that I can update it.

Oh deary me! I am so dead now - I live in Tanzania, East-Africa. My "local" repair center is several hundred thousand miles away across The Big Blue. What exactly do the repair center folks do to fix the device? Perhaps I can soldier out myself with some guidance...

Locked Kaiser. Need your help very urgent

I am new here and I have to say, that I have to manage a big problem.
Whats happend?
A few days ago I get an Vodafone branded Kaiser and yesterday I tried to falsh a new unbranded ROM. So downloaded the HardSPL Tool an the RUU_Kaiser_HTC_WWE_1.56.405.5_radio_sign_22.45.88.07_1.27.12.11_Ship ROM.
I have connected the Phone via ActiveSync and installed HardSPL first.
Everythings looks fine and I started flashing the new ROM.
While the flashing process was during my PC crashed and the flashing process has been interrupted.
I have started the phone and the PC again but the phone was locked since then.
When I start the phone I get only a screen divided into four colors (red, green, blue and white) without any function.
In the red field I can read
KAIS130
SPL-1.56.0000
CPLD-8
The phone has since no function. I can#t switch it off an I can't use any of the buttons.
If I try to connect the phone with my PC for re-flashing the ROM ActiveSync does connect to the phone and would not be green highlighted.
What I should I do? Who can help me solving this problem?

Go to kaiser rom development and read the first thread there. There should be topis about bad flash.

HI , friends i been trying to sim unlock my new tytn2 which is in uk orange network now.
I tried to install hard spl, i m new to this technical worlds like cooked rom, new hard spl etc ,.any one please tell me how to do this step by step,
When i tried to install hard spl, there comes a tricolor screen first white screen with progress bar 0% , and after some time it stucks and in pc shows error message. tried with jump spl method described by some one, in the kaiser section, what is the meaning of wm6 and wm6.1

WM6 and WM6.1 are Versions of Windows Mobile, see Settings, About on your phone.
Looking at the Radio version, you are a WM6.0 user still.

I suggest you read here Getting Started and on the XDA Wiki, there is lots of information on the HTC Kaiser page that covers the basics.
It is appreciated to search and read before posting new threads when the information is already available. If you get stuck with one part, re-read the thread, search for your problem, and then (and only then) post in the thread you are trying to follow.

thanks dave.but i tried it, i couldnt even install hard spl, i dont know what happens when i run jumpspl also it shows white screen no further actions takes place. i dont know what to do now.

Try SSPL First, then JumpSPL 1.56, then JumpSPL 1.93. one should work.

major trouble after attempting ROM upgrade

ok, so I tried to upgrade to 1.56 (stock), and yes I now have the dodgy looking screen and phone is stuck in 'Phone Off' mode.
I didn't think I needed to do anything other than run the exe from HTC.
so, anyway..yes I'm screwed.
I've got the list of instructions from an earlier post about flashing 1.56, and am trying to follow them (seems my phone has Olinex1.14 on it - which I've never used as I've never flashed this phone before)
but..I can't connect to my phone, when I plug the usb cable in, I get the screen which asks me which type of connections I want Active sync, disc drive etc, but the screen on my phone is totally unresponsive. the screen then disappears and I'm nowhere...
If I can't connect to my phone, how do I run the file to flash back to 1.14 as per the instructions?

If you take the battery out and make sure the USB is not connected.
After a few seconds, put the battery back in.
Next press the down button on the side of the phone and keep it pressed, press the power button as normal.
Does anything appear on the screen?
Next, if you get the coloured screen with 'Serial' at the bottom, if you plug in the USB cable and connect to a PC, does 'Serial' change to read 'USB'.
If it does all of this, your phone is not dead.

I've had to try a different machine..which is working....thank god.
but the issue now is that our virus software is preventing me from downloading USPL2.5, is there another way to to use this file? I know that people have experience issues with this before (although not necessarily this particular file) and they have used a wrapper to bypass the virus protection pop up

ok..ignore that...I don't need it, my phone is not CID locked.

I was going to try the Stock HTC ROM upgrade tonight, but my phone is an early Orange no splash screen or orange branding but it definately locked to orange....
do I have to unlock it prior to doing even the HTC ROM upgrade?

You may have to. Just try the rom upgrade. If it yells something about an "invalid vendor ID" just use USPL to apply the rom upgrade. If you need information on how look at the guide in my signature.

Hey there i had a quick question my telstra HD comes in today. Can i just run the USPL and then load the updated ROM your talking bot off the site? Other wise i was going to load a Dutty's. Sorry to go off topic

Yeah you can load any 1.56 rom whether it is cooked or original using USPL (if your SPL is 1.54.0000 in the bootloader).

Problem flashing rom

Hi,
Although this is my first post, I have been lurking for many years.
I have successfully flashed a Kaiser and a Diamond in the past so I feel reasonably confident.
However, I am having real problems with my blackstone. I have followed the instructions until point 5, when I enter bootloader it is showing 1.14000 etc - I then try to follow the rest of the instructions. It will go into the rom updater utility, the screen will go grey and show 0% but then nothing happens and I eventually have to go into recovery.
Any ideas?

Sounds like you haven't installed either HSPL or USPL before trying to flash rom.
I'd recommend going down the HSPL route. (Latest HSPL can be found in my signature). Once downloaded flash to phone then you are ready to flash to cooked roms

Go into bootloader. If it says 1.14.0000 you are ready to go to step (5c). When you connect usb cable to pc does the text at bottom change from 'serial' to 'USB'?
Possible problems could be:
1. You haven't disabled anti-virus
2. Drivers on you pc need updated. Download step (1g) and go to (0).
If USPL is successful it should state SPL v 1.15.USPL in bootloader. If HSPL is successful it should state SPL v 1.15 OliNex

Well after much swearing at both computer and phone, I managed to get the drivers updated. Many thanks Spartan, it seems that this was the problem as I am flashing Dutty's ROM right now.
