Regarding HTC - P4350 - Wing, P4350 Herald Upgrading

Hi people
I have a magician pda (o2xda2mini running on WM 2003SE).I wanted to go for a new one so i found HTC - P4350 to be good.I think its HERALD..Before that i have some quires. If u can plz spend some time...
1.It comes with WM5..Can i upgrade to WM 6 or 6.1?
2.Can i get all those cube and sliding effects like diamond(by installing softwares from xda...)
3.Is it a good phone(speed) coz its only got 200Mhz processor where as my present one(O2 XDA2 mini has 416 mhz)
4.How is the reception?coz my xda2mini sucks
5.DO u have any other good pda's to suggest?TYTNII is too costly.
Plz help me go for a good deal..

Bro (or sis) you can look in forums, use search button and those things...
BUT
1) Wm6 --> Yes
2) Yes, but i dont know how is it performance
3) Well, try to install things in external memory
4) Good
5) TyTN II, my suggested --> HTC Touch (ELFin) <-- my suggested, HTC Shift... ummm perhaps HTC Diamond but im having some strange issues with it

1. Read all about HARDSPL and USPL but you have to know that there always is a risk that you might brick your phone so yes but risky. If you follow all the instructions though there is a high percentage you can do it but read at least like 6 hours b4 you do anything ^^
2. Yes and performance is good.
3. You can use batterystatus to overclock the cpu to at least 260 thats always stable and it's a nice phone everything I use works flawlessly and the 25ish RAM you got after installing some progs is most of the times enough too.
4. With a custom ROM that has a new radio built in it's perfect never had no reception anywhere but I'm living in a big town in germany so dunno if it's different on the countryside.
5. no

Thank u so much DrogenDiego and tramuyo for replying to my post.

WM 2005 versus WM 2003

hello everyone!
since two weeks, i am theproud owner of my first pocket pc, a HTC Blue Angel!
i am now running wm2003, but after reading all those posts about upgrading, i am starting to think about doing so myself! but why should i do this?
what are the big advatages of wm2005 compared to wm2003?
are there disadvantages as well? (regarding stability and bugs?)
i would be really glad if yome of the more experienced ba users here could write down their pros & cons for running WM5/WM3 on the BA!
btw: i read thru xplode's upgrading guide (Guide.pdf) and in the end ("side notes") it says, that i could totally screw my ba when i exceed free sectors of the rom while cooking.... what excactly does this mean? and how can i avoid exceeding free sectors?
I am really looking forward to read your opinions about the two os...
THX IN ADVANCE!
krztf
I would definately go for wm5
main reason is the different memory handling
(no more lose of data after battery runs down)
Just download one of the ready made roms versions.
(as I understand, you are not ready to cook your own rom)
and be sure to read the wiki first
(and this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=243732 )
happy flashing
Wout
I could tell you this, my biggest reason to flash my BA to Wm05 because it has a better UI. N my 2nd biggest reason is because a lot of new programs written for wm05
Anyway if you afraid to brick your BA, I suggest you read carefully the wiki n don't use kitchen Rom, just use another rom that already cook by someone else. You could use Rom made by baniaczek or xplode.
I hoped it helps.
Well how should i say... i dont believe anyone here is still using 2003. Would this be enough for you? Try it, if you dont like it, downgrade back to 2003.
WM5 on Blue Angel is nice. But xplode rom and baniaczek rom are not really stable at the moment.
Tried both rom both got different problems... so I recommend you to wait for final release WM5 rom for BA thats free of bug.(Would it happen?)
Else if you wanted to try, you can try upgrading it... its really nice
Main reason is 60mb free ram..
and no more memory lost after battery going down
aha
thanks for all those answers!!!
but to be honest, i am still not sure if i should upgrade or not....
all those postings (here an din other threads) regarding pda overall speed, bluetooth and wifi problems, etc. make me kinda nervous! and i think, i am still anxious about frying my blue angel,... noobish but what can i do!
regarding the advantage of more free ram and no memory loss after battery's empty: is this really true?! always thought, i would need certain hardware as well, to benefit from this features...?
hope this discussion keeps goin'...
regards,krz

I'm using 2003se (rollback wm5->2003), because found some strange problems with baniachek's wm5 bluetooth profiles. ...
all the gory details ....
hi dasboot!
could you please describe those "strange problems"?
btw: does anyone know, if connecting to wlan routers works better with wm2005? as u can read in my other thread HERE, i have serious issues to solve here...
keep on posting!
krz
im rollbacked too.WM5 is nice looking..but for BA useless.
i found that WM3 work much better on it-and more important-the battery time:
wm5=max 8 hours,with mp3 6h
wm3=up to 16h with mp3.normal use 24/36h (older BA )
i use wlan only sometimes on hotspots-and only for e-mails.not a important criteria for me.
but, damn it..i would try out WM6 on it.suddenly it is unable to convert it to BA.
WM5 is not a software, it is one huge BAG!
wm5 is really good and I won't come back to wm2003. I have the R2 by baniaczeck and it works to me like a charm! I advice you to upgrade to wm5

Kaiser or P3600i

Hello. I've been following the Kaiser thread ever since I heard about it, and with the same anxiety of the owners of that phone i've been waiting for the miraculous drivers to appear. I'm looking forward to upgrade from a HP hx2750, to a new pda with phone. After a few research I concluded that the pdas the fit my need are the HTC p3600 (trinity), p3600i (500Mhz processor version) , the Tytn 2 Kaiser or the coming Eten X800 and the I-mate 8502 which in my option is the best off all those but I doubt it will be available sooner than April 2008.
From all those the p3600i and tytn 2 seemed more appealing. So I have to pick between the p3600i (since i'd rather have more ROM and processor speed though paying a bit more) or the kaiser, tytn 2.
I like to play videos, take pictures and once in awhile play a few games, but also have a decent scrolling and browsing speed since I'm used to the hx2750 wm6, BUT, i'm not sure if the drivers will ever be made or work properly... in other words I wouldn't like to have a crippled phone as expensive as that kaiser(not getting contract!). The p3600i looks great is not so buggy but doesn't have keyboard and this is something I always missed in the hx2750. Neither I know if the keyboard in the end is really that useful cause it looks very hard to type in...
I heard better things from htc in past times but now they don't seem to care for consumers opinion, so that's another question. I dunno if it's better to get the kaiser and wait for drivers or get something more solid. I heard new windows 6.1 will come out soon, so might be a help or push to fix problem. I prefer more the kaiser but the p3600i is impressive too...
So i'm here asking for whoever wants to share its opinion... What's the best buy p3600i or tytn2 (kaiser, tilt)?
Is htc giving up the kaiser for real?(no more drivers, no more production of that model? And does the p3600i as any issue too?
P.S:I really refer to the p3600i not the updated p3600(trinity)
Thanks in advance...
there's great difference:
p3600i is 1 year older.
But if You are happy with USB1.1, 64MB RAM, no qwerty-keyboard (npt really nessecary), miniSD (not microSD), 1,9 MP camera. Then You will get 1500mAh Li-ion battery instead of 1350 and InfraRed port and a 500Mhz processor instead of a 400Mhz.
Compare:
http://pdadb.net/index.php?m=pdacomparer&id1=820&id2=733
I don't really see the difference between the microsd and minisd (size?), the difference between the 128MB and 64MB ram dunno if it's highly noticeable but seems that the p3600i might compensate it with proper video playback and proper rendering... 500Hz or 400Hz processor ... still doesn't tell me too much cause in the end the difference in RAM can minimize it (i think, I didn't or cannot benchmark both devices)? Neither regarding the 2MP or the 3MP camera.
The longer battery life, and less buggy performance are the good side of the p3600i ... but still seems a hard decision to make and the keyboard looks handy to write mails or editing text... Would be cool if someone who had both devices gave an opinion about it
At first i have p3600i then i buy the tytnII but when i use the tytn II with the room (schap's,orginal, dutty's) i change the tytnII with P3600i
1- the camera in tytnii is not realy work fine means the picture is no cleare
2- i see the tuch screen don't have good recognize and sensity
3- i find the best speed in the p3600i
4- battery life in p3600i is very gooood
for the memory i use the micro HC4GB with the convertor to mini and it is work gooood
....
sorry for my bad english

Well in the end I got the tytn mainly cause of the keyboard! I sure miss the 624MHz processor of the HP 2750 and the 3'5 inch screen smoothness but now I got stick with this one. I found weird that such a high end product performs so bad but the only thing I would ask for would be a smoth scroll in general...
Do flash your TyTn II with a new rom.
Believe me, it really gets better.
I've got the dutty rom, and i've got no compaints about scroll speeds .
I'm very happy with my device now!
Problem with custom ROMS

Well I would... but the thing I don't like about those cooked roms is that they bring extra stuff I would discard. There's no need for extra software since that I have. I would like to find a rom that improves performance and updates HTC software without adding other stuff... For example the 4PDA rom I have on the hx2750 just has windows mobile without extras which is ver good since I can decide what to install and save space like this... after in a pda every mega counts!

New User of TYTN 2

Hi guys
tomorrow I will be the proud owner of the HTC TYTN2. Currently I own the N95 8GB and am quite happy with it...hope I will be as well with the HTC
My first aim tomorrow is to flash the new toy with one of the latest cooked roms. I have though 2 questions:
Which one do you think is the best Rom to install ?
What is this radio thing and how would I know what radio to use ?
Thanks to all.
Yikes.......
You need to do some reading...
Start here; http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=369282
read and go out and buy a flamesuit...or read...and read more
Thanks...I already did some readings but since I live in Europe (Malta) I dont know which radio to use with say latest cube from Dutty
well then research around and maybe u'll find someone that is in ur location...or better yet just start flashing COMPATIBLE radios when u get ur phone and see which one is best for u

ROM question!

I want to flash a ROM for the first time, and I can not decide whether I should get Spikegotti's or Christian's ROM... Since this is my first time flashing I have nothing to compare them to and the specifications don't mean anything to me.
Is there someone who has tried them both?? Can you tell me what the diffrences are?
Thanks in advance!
Get the "Untamed". It's awesome
Flash each one, and after a few days you will get a good idea of what each one offers.
If you want to go all the way, you could benchmark performance.
btw, I would also recommend looking at Mr Rusch's NUTS ROM (WM6.1 + Manila 2.1) - fast and stable.
Nam rom r3a nothe america
hey guys...i just want to know...something
i flash my x1i to a stock rom north america that is for x1a
and when i go to a device info it tells me that the model number is x1a even thou my phone is x1i can i have that rom in my phone ?? and i know that there is restrictons on the x1a like 30fps video is disable and some other stuff...so i dont know if my phone will be like the x1a.. i read some posts here and i find one that they say its the hardware that cant be fix on the x1a... but i have x1i
so let me know...
i use sony ericsson for first time i always have htc's
so i dont know about that device that much
and the gps sucks
its slow and lag's alot...
anyway ppl have a good day...and i hope i get answer soon us posible....)
the ROM just changed the model name on the device info (it's a simple text file). you still have and X1i.
some people, though, have been able to run SPB MS3 with hardware acceleration after changing the model name, so I can't say it has absolutely no effect
I've tried a couple of ROMs and I have to say I am very happy with Christians ROM, full version, even though it has some Dutch content stuff which can be ignored. SPB Mobile Shell and SPB Backup are a real bonus.
Thank you all so much for your answers. I tried both ROMS and decided to stick with Spikegotti's one. I really wanted winmo 6.5, and spikegotti's ROM has a little less extra programs preinstalled. But I added Christians SPB mobile shell as a cab. So now I'm perfectly happy! But I also know that I will be trying out other ROM's as well because it is just to much fun tryin all the stuff that is made here

[Q] Htc topaz still interesting?

Hello everybody i would like to ask you yours advices. I have my topaz since 2 years and i never really liked it because i find it really slow with WM 6.5 even for basics tasks as SMS writing. I have no apps because of the poor market place. I use it just as a phone or a (bad) camera.
Is there a rom improving topaz capacities or the speed?
Are developers still working in a android's ROM or wm 7 'ROM ?
I tried Xdandroid but it was really slow and unconfortable (lagging to boot it).
On the contrary should i buy a new phone? (wich i dont want to do even for a 200€'s phone).
i still use my topaz eventhough i've sensation as my default phone... for topaz the best rom is dutty's roms... and if u want to feel unlagging and fast rom, please flash the WM6 rom not the WM6.5
but for android's rom... there are not suitable with topaz processor and ram... they are bugg and lagging...
Ok thanks à lot!

no problem buddy..
Just some questions again: is wm 6'rom usable with fingers? Because wm6's was really bad with fingers. Are there not any stable and fast wm6,5's ROM?
Good evening
The Topaz is the best Windows phone on the HD2. With a good Rom (Shania_V1.XX [2.53] [23 534]), 16MB pagepool, ATI 3D Driver and WinMoSpeed (614Mhz) makes the work a real joy. Demanding applications such as IgoPrimo runs fast and stable.
Which little WM6.5 device offers 800x480 display and listen to more than 120MB of free RAM? :good: I know of none.
