Partially Disfunctional Display - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

Hello everyone,
I bought my AT&T Tilt off of eBay about 8 months ago and have been very happy with it so far.
Last month I accidentally dropped it while it was in it's leather case and thought that everything was fine. The next time I tried to use it I discovered that the power was off and when I turned it back on the display was out of wack (see below). Now it's not completely unusable, however many advanced features I used to take for granted are now nearly impossible to use because not enough of the screen is visible. Here is what my display looks like:
Now what I'm thinking has happened is when I dropped it, one of the connectors for the screen was partially dislodged. I am considering taking it apart and checking all of the connectors to see if I can get it fully working again. I have already found several guides for disassembling a Kaiser. If anyone has any experience with similar problems or has any suggestions on where to start looking for the problem it would be very much appreciated.
Thanks!

Touch Screen & Reset Button Problems after Wetness

Hi folks,
I have accidentally made the horrible mistake of letting my HTC TyTn II sit in a small puddle of water over night. That'll teach me for keeping my phone and glasss of water right next to each other on my nightstand.
Anyhow... It actually still works, which suprised me. However, 2 elements are not working. Specifically:
Touch Screen is not working. The LCD DOES display the image just fine, it just does not respond any longer to TOUCH.
The reset button seems to be completely non-functional.
After I got over the initial "oh &$*!" moment, I did some searching here and about for answers. I found some references to just replacing the digitizer, which I can get quite cheap on ebay. However, I also read that it might be a mainboard problem, in which case I might as well just replace it.
So, thoughts?
Also, here is the eBay auctions I was looking into. They seem reasonable? (if I decide to go that route)

Thank you much for the couple moments of your time.

One touch and then touchscreen dies

Hello folks,
I've had a kaiser now for a couple of years, but recently its developed an interesting problem/quirk.
When I first boot it up, I'll get one touch on the touchscreen, and then no more. Doesn't matter if i turn the screen off and leave it for a day, or anything, I'll get no more until I reboot.
One time recently, however, it worked for multiple touches over 30 seconds or so. When I picked it back up again later, it went back to its usual self.
I've ruled out any software issues by flashing to a much newer rom with a new radio. The behaviour is still the same.
My first thought is that there might be something pressing on one of the edges of the screen, so that I can "click", but not release. I tried cleaning out under the bevel with a pin, and although i pulled out half the contents of my pockets, the issue remains unresolved. I'm ordering some small torx screwdrivers to get the bevel off, to give it a more thorough cleaning.
Does anyone have any other ideas I could look into? I'm hoping its not a dead screen, although its very unusual behaviour if it is.
Lastly, I came across an app a long time ago that was being used to show the ability of multitouch on touchscreens. It would show the pressure/point of contact on screen. If I could get something like this, or indeed any information on the screen pressure, I would know for certain whether my theory about being able to press but not release is accurate. I've searched, but I havent managed to turn up anything. Does anyone have this cab/something like it?
Thanks for any help guys.

Screen freezes when sliding open

The screen of my Xperia freezes as soon as I slide the phone open. The touch screen is work and in the backgrounde everythings seems to go on.
Anyone else seen this?
I guess this is a hardware issue (flex?), right?
I’m using [08 DEC 09] SEX1 R5 BareBone ROM…

Update:
Turns out that SE gives 2 year warranty in Holland..
Yeah its pretty much the ribbon problem, my one started off with just the screen freezing, and then it degraded into sometimes turning off, then to turning off every time you slide it open, to turning off randomly in portrait, to finally not displaying anything altogether. But usually it doesn't go that far I think.
Its a major bummer that your warranty's out, not sure what to recommend.
hi just want to add my experience here...
i too had a similar problem on a standard rom, the main problem was that whenever i opened the phone, the screen would die. it only worked with the slider shut and even then it would often freeze.
did some research and it turns out its the flex/ribbon cable that was faulty. theres a few threads on here if you search.
i bought a new flex cable off a popular auction site for 28 pounds and fitted it myself this afternoon. it is no easy task, it took around 2 hours and requires you to be very delicate. there are disassembly and reassembly videos on youtube to help too.
i had no choice as mine is out of warranty too and i used this opportunity to replace the housing as well since it had cracks everywhere.
Thanks for posting this, I didn't know it was a warrantied issue. I noticed this sort of issue about a month after I got the Xperia - I figured it was something to do with the ROMs I was flashing and I was just about to start searching for a new ROM to try. Sometimes my X1 would be completely hung when I took out the keyboard, other times it would take about 30 seconds or so to catch up. It's pretty random in how it happens. As well my X1 tends to shut down often and require a battery eject/insert or a stylus reset to get going again. Also, my X1 has just one crack where the battery cover meets the body - I've only had it for about 4 months, but it's the X1i that I picked up in North America so I don't know what SE will say...
Thanks,
Peter
P.S. This forum is making we wait 5 minutes between edits to add that update/correction even though my account is 10 months old... silly XDA-Dev...
Thanks, sounds like exactly the problem I'm having too.

Possible Ribbon Problems

My Xperia X1 is currently experiencing problems. The screen no longer lights up!
I started experiencing this problem a while ago, when opening and closing the device.
Day by day everything went from bad to worse and at one point it no longer lit up!
At first I thought there was some kind of screen problem so I bought one new LCD off ebay.
I disassembled my Xperia carefully following a tutorial on youtube.com and replaced the screen. Nothing changed. The screen didn't light up.
The strange thing is that everything else worked! Sound, buttons, vibration etc. all work without a glitch.
I had gave up my hopes of reviving my device and for four long months it simply got dusty. That is, until I found this post :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=561151
I opened my device and realised that I have the same problems mentioned in that post.
Thus, in an attempt to solve the issues I opened my phone and took the following pictures.
Please can anybody confirm that I have flex ribbon issues and tell me what I can do to solve this problem once and for all? Can I fix it or do I need a new Xperia flex ribbon?
I can't wait to start using my 'old' device again!
Look like a flex ribbon issue to me. You can fix it by getting a flex ribbon of course. I've had 3 go out on me...thinking about giving up on this phone entirely.
As mentioned in the previous thread re: similar problem, the flex will always be the culprit in any device with slide or flip form factor, not limited to Xperia. Most of the repairs coming in are for flex damage, regardless of the device price and quality.
I had no issues with replaced flexes on Xperia, once installed they serve their life span (albeit short one). It is possible to reinforce the flex, provided your tape is a very fine one, it needs to run in particular place only, e.g. where it is physically rubbed and bent the most.

[Q] Milestone digitizer replaced, but new one has problem with "calibration"

[Q] Milestone digitizer replaced, but new one has problem with "calibration"
Hi!
I got a two year old Milestone on which the digitizer started to act up a while ago, with random clicks (seems to be referred to as "ghost" clicks) and touches everywhere, pretty unusable. After buying a new digitizer on ebay and replacing the old one, all those problems are now gone!
However, I do still have touch problems. It seems a few percent of the top and the bottom is unreachable. Input is registered, but at the wrong location. The bottom "buttons" (which is via digitizer as well?) works fine however!
A video of it says it all:
ht tp://ww w.youtube.com/watch?v=YNGcpAMPfUQ
(added some spaces to get around spam filter)
To me, this looks like some kind of calibration error... Not sure if that is applicable though.. Cannot find any kind of references to this on either this forum nor anywhere else.
Now, I've tried the following:
* Going back to stock firmware
* Clean CM7 (which is what I used before)
* Wiping all caches & resetting everything
Nothing seems to help. I can not find any calibration tools or anything either..
Any hints?
Thank you!

While waiting for a re-shipped item from the ebay seller (paid extra shipping only), the digitizer magically started to work again!
Not really sure how or why, but after leaving it powered up but idle for almost a week, the upper part of the digitizer was fully functional! The lower part was however still non-functional exactly like the video shows.
For some reason I got the idea that all this was somehow heat related; it had been lying in a relatively warm, closed off room during this period. So, I put the lower, still non-working, half of the digitizer (still powered on) a few centimeters below a regular desk lamp, applying some heat to it. I left it like this for an hour, and when I pulled it out, it was working flawlessly! Has now been working fine for ~2 weeks.
Just thought I'd post this here in case anyone else has the same problem.. There has to be some kind of manufacturing problem with this one, not being glued together properly or something.. At least I got an extra digitizer now as spare, in case this one gives up again
