I returned my orange HTC diamond as the coverage was rubbish back to the store and my vodafone HTC diamond arrived. I can confirm it comes with a case. And it does not look to bad. How long should I charge it for?

I am just charging it right now, but once done I will post the rom version.
I got a VF one, first thing I did was flash to the HTC OEM version, the VF one is slow as hell, what would be useful though is to get the SAT app back, although not desperate for it as I have TT7 now which is excellent. VF really know how to screw a ROM up, they did the same to the TYTN one.
I actually lashed my orange one with the euro rom and found it pants, this voda rom is not so bad, except for the colour. PLus side it is unlocked. Right my rom and radio are as follows:
ROM 1.37.161.2WWE
ROM DATE 06/26/08
RADIO 1.00.25.03
PRROTOCOL 52.26A.25.09U
Orange Diamond
I got mine from Orange yesterday. i too have noticed the poor 35 coverage - the device is most of the times in G mode.
although it's Orange branded , i got it through Phones4U. So at least it doesn't have the Orange usual crap colorings and themes. (it looks exactly as the usual HTC stuff).
because i'm horribly new to this diamond stuff, i still don't know whether the rom is original HTC or Orange version. Could anyone confirm if his Orange rom version is different from the one in my signature? thanks.
at least i'm still in the 7-day cooling off period and can return.
The orange rom is the generic rom, I got mine from phones 4u also. Orange were not able to tango the rom in a rush to get ot out. Though the store demo ones I saw are tangoes.

Also if you upgrade you radio to .05 version you will see an improvement. I spent money unlocking mine to return it oh well. As I travel a lot and in my office there was no reception.

Is the vodafone HTC diamond really UNlocked? that could decide it on whether i upgrade with Orange or go to Vodafone? Also, has anyone compared Orange Diamond to Voda Diamond in terms of responsiveness etc...?
Thanks
anyone has the vodafone uk rom?
I have flashed my diamond before dumped it.
Nice to have it as backup.
Thank you.
Vodafone UK Rom
I have a brand new Vodafone HTC Diamond. I do not like the white-red looks, I'd rather have the black one.
But wouldn't flashing the rom invalidate my 2 year warranty?
I have found the dump.arj (Vodaphone rom dump), though not sure how to put it back to my phone if I need to... Instructions provided in that thread were confusing, but they become more clear once I have managed to download the kitchen (currently unavailable )
And then - which new rom is the best for UK (has most bug fixes and best performance)?
Sorry for my ignorance but this is the first try to flash any roms... I would be really grateful for some hints/advice

Hey all. www.pdashop.nl now has teh TyTN II up for pre-order, but only the dutch version. Theyr'e shipping it for more than 100 euro's cheaper than expansys is, but.... It's the Dutch version.
Though I'm Dutch myself I have always used an English operating system on both my pc and my phones.
Would it be possible to flash a Dutch TyTN II with an English ROM without too much hassle?
Jesse
Maybe better for you to get it from here if you want an English version http://www.handtec.co.uk/product.php/765/htc-tytn-2

Jesse,
PDA Shop has now also the UK version. I also can not stand the Dutch on any operationg system (well not only dutch but any language for that matter). I have given them a call last week asking if they are going to ship the UK version and the answer was no, since there was no demand for it. Well friday I have noticed that they do list it now on the site. I guess more people were asking for it.
Also I am going to order one from www.smartphonestunts.nl I have done business with them in the past and they were perfect. The PDA shop is no go by because of 2 reasons
1. they do not want to sell me a T-Mobile subscription (and i am due for a renewal, so meaning major discount on the device)
2. I have noticed a couple of times that they sell products which do not come from the official Dutch dealers. THis was the case with my friend's ETEN, which needed a ROM update and I was not able to download it since the serial number did not match, after I contacted eten people here in the NL they told me right away that I probably purchased the device from PDA Shop and that it is not their device thus I have no right to get a ROM update. After begging they let me have it, because the guy was nice. And on another ocasion we needed to purchase 4 devices (Trinity) for a client and 3 of them I was not able to register on the site to get the ROM update the S/N was rejected. I did not make a fuss since it was for client who did not care and I was already able to register one device so I downloaded the ROM update.
Also you can try www.algebeld.nl
Try to find one in France with no chance .
Is the keyboard only in QWERTY ?
Does anyone know when the Kaiser is going to be released on one of the UK networks as a subsidized device? My old Magician is getting REALLY long in the tooth now, and I can't afford £480 right now...
Scancom have it as pre-order for Orange Business, but doesn't give any dates...
I can't afford £480 either, but i just ordered one last night lol
I think it should be available on T-Mobile by the end of the month maybe? (As the MDA Vario III i'd imagine).
I'd hazard a guess that it'll be out on Orange maybe by the end of the year?
Problem is the design of the MDA Vario III looks really ugly (tacky silver finish) compared to HTC's original version of the Tytn II

Another reason why i chose the HTC over the T-Mobile variant
Friends who have bought an Official Diamond from HTC outlets, please let me know which ROM version is being sold, as worry is the UK stock was supposedly witheld for a ROM update.. Are we getting updated ROM or not??
Also mention the RAM and ROM reads from Indian versions..
look at the diamond rom section here. There are 1.34 and 1.35 rom updates posted. The latest rom anyone has seems to be 1.37 - i expect it will be posted soon.
Thanks someone1234, but i raised the question because the Indian Version is going to be different - Non 3G version, hence the ROM versions may be different...
Hey does it mean no one's as yet bought a diamond in India???
Is official sale in India started or not???
safe to say that...
ppl that claim they have bought have yet to respond and claim from where and source...
so probably no one has it yet
Diamond In India ! Yipee !
I got the diamond yesterday in India for 35k that is about 900USD. It is not official, does not come with a warranty. Seems like a HK version piece to me. The ROM version is 1.35 WWE, Date 05/28/08 - Since I got it I have run advanced config on it and tweaked it by increasing cache size. It is noticably faster now.

from where? and what city are you in ?
The Indian Diamond is supposed to launch on the 27th of June afaik.
Its different from the EU versions, uses the MSM7206A processor with no 3G radio
HTC India
the processor on my instrument is Qualcomm 7201A and I have upgraded to ROM version 1.37 WWE. This device also has 3G, I am guessing the official indian version might not. I am located in Delhi and bought it from a dealer here.
Thats not the offical version then.
id rather have the one with 3g than without
I bought my 3G Diamond here in Delhi for 35 Grand its HK version i think and paying 25000/- for non 3g one ...i think 35000 is a good deal.
same here soulpilot, good to have 3G should be getting launched in India in the next9-12 months anyway
Guys, any other difference (other than 3G) between the processors MSM7201A (Worldwide) & MSM7206A (Indian) ??
Not as far as I know. Only difference in the Radio implementation.
One major negative in buying the 3G in India is most HTC service centers will refuse to even touch your phone if theres any problem with it due to the incompatible processors. Some might oblige but most wont. Taken my singapore HTC to the service center the other day for a panel switch and was talking to the service guys about it. He said most of the service centers wont touch any of the 3G diamonds.
i hope the cooked roms work equally well for the indian version as well.

I didnt know the 3g touch diamond is available in India.
Can someone (I see amit221 and soulpilot bot it in Delhi) let me know where they bought it from in the Delhi region?
Hello all,
What's your idea about the operator branded HTC phones compared to no brand of the same models ? To me, it looks like the T-Mobile & AT&T branded HTC models are superior than the unbranded ones of the same models.
In terms of material quality.
What do you think ?
On my opinion Unbranded are like the original ones and always much better in design and look than any cell provided branded...
Operator branded HTC phones usually are software bloated & have decales on the hardware!
but again
the Sprint Branded [email protected] have a 3.5mm slot for headphones, while the Unbrabded or any other branded TP2 doesent apart from the decal and not having the secondary camera..its ok i think
I've compared the unbranded HTC touch diamond and T-Mobile variant of Touch diamond side by side. The T-mobile one seemed to be made with better material quality.
but i might be wrong,too.
A typical example is the t-mobile touch dual, the HTC unbranded has more keys and is harder to get cooked roms working with it!!
The topaz I got from t-mobile doesnt look as solid as the HTC unbranded one!
The software side should rarely be an issue if you are on this site you already know how easy it is to change the software! Orange made some real blunders with the orange software bar they were adding to the software on phones eating extra memory and slowing them down! thank god for xda!!
Companies like AT&T really screw up their devices. They rearrange the entire keyboard, change the colors a bunch, slap decals all over, and load the device to capacity with free trials which you can't uninstall. If you install a cooked ROM, you can fix a few of the problems, but AT&T and the like should learn what their users really want. If the OEM devices were a bit cheaper and supported AT&T's 3G frequencies, I'd buy the OEM one from HTC instead of one from AT&T.

But the ATT Tilt is much better than the HTC Touch Pro2.
And the Verizon Wireless Touch Pro2 has a headphone jack and a more unique color than the unlocked version.

Actually the unbranded tp2 has a nice silver keyboard which makes it look more appealing than having a black, dull look. Not, having the stupid At&T logo is a major plus.
Completly agree!
even with no 3.5mm jack unbranded is superior in look and design
And has front camera
In the UK some operators actually take software and features off phones! (Dont know what its like in other countries!)
For example, a HD2 on O2 won't have the option to use the phone as a modem. I personally don't think operators should be able to mess with the phones, but thats just my opinion

well you say that but it does, now... O2 started shipping stock HD2's that are unlocked completely. 3 months later, makes me wonder if they will ever release an update for the locked phone.
dear Forum
I am living in Switzerland, and i got from a US friend his "old" TP2 because he bought the new i-phone...
now i am here in Europe and can't use it because it only accepts T-Mobile SIM cards (which we don't have in Switzerland).
Moreover i am travelling quite often because of my profession and i'm usually buying local SIM's....
Does anyone know if there is a ROM which unlocks this device?
would be great if this also contains TomTom or CoPilot navigation as i own those licences arelady frommy previous device.
As I know there are two versions of TP2:
- the "normal" HTC
- the T-mobile version which got brownish color and lacks a front cam....
my question is specifically about the brownish T-mobile version.
thanks for your help

There is no ROM that will unlock your phone for you. You have to either call T-Mobile and get them to unlock the phone for you or ask your friend to call T-Mobile for the unlock code, OR you can pay to have it unlocked by providing the IMEI number to someone who knows how to unlock it. Also, ROMs generally do not come cooked with TomTom or CoPilot, so you'd have to install those separately. I'm sure if you looked around you could find the cab files to install them.
that's interesting... my old diamond came with simlock from a local carrier... after flashing it with an open ROM, the simlock was gone...
that's why I am asking if there is simlock-free ROM for this specific type of TP2...
for the "normal" one i saw plenty ROM's but because of the differences i am sceptic if they would work.
thx for ur hints
You don't need a ROM, you need to SIM-unlock your device. See http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=555339
