Having a major problem with my Diamond currently. When the screen is turned off, no sound or vibration is made when a new message is recieved. This means i either have to keep the screen on at all times, effectively killing battery life, or not get notified of new sms messages and alike.
Anyone know if there is a secret setting, or a fix here im missing?
Cheers!
Did you even try to search this forum ?
Even in the sticky posts the solution is mentioned.

I am wondering if anyone knows how to stop the email notifications. I get emails all the time, and I use phonealarm on my today screen to monitor them. It is very annoying to constantly have the left soft button come up with a notification .
I have gone into setting>sounds & notifications and turned everything off.. but I still have the soft button notification. I would think there is some registry setting to do this but I have not found one.
Notification Softkey Help
Bumping this thread.
I too have all notifications for email turned off, but still get that left softkey changing to "notification" every 10 minutes to let me know I have unread email. I know I have unread email and already have the # of messages listed on the Today screen. I am tired of having to dismiss this.
Please, somebody tell us how to shut this off.
settings/sounds & notifications/notifications tab/event drop down box/messaging:new email messages.
in there will give you the options for all types of messing to turn on/off

Thanks, but that's the point. All those options are checked off. We still get the soft key notification.

And there was me thinking I could just use the key listed and change the duration to 1, like I did with SMS notifications. Alas it has no effect so disabling it entirely seems like the only option.
Thank you. This is a big help. Should be added as a "tweak" if somebody can.
Hi all,
I know there are some topics on reminders and LEDs that aren't blinking, but I can't find any solution for the problem I have.
I own a HTC TyTN II, with ROM 1.56.405.5 (08/28/07).
When I set in the "Start" - "Settings" - "Sounds and notifications" - "Notifications" for the event "Reminders" the option "Flash light for NO LIMIT".
This does not work like it should be. (Missed calls seem to be OK)
At the time of the reminder, the screen turns on, message is shown AND amber light is blinking. This is all OK.
But when (after 2 minutes) the screen truns off (set in backlight settings), the amber light is turned off too!!! The green LED is blinking again.
When I look at my device (the LED), it seems nothing happened. I can only see that there was a reminder when I turn my screen on.
I searched the internet already, but did not find any solution for it.
- I discovered "Kaiser Notifications", but I don't want anything else to change, no reminders needed, only an amber blinking LED.
- I discovered this topic http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=290719 , that seems to be exactly the same problem as I have. I changed the registry as described, but this does not help on my device.
I hope someone knows how to tweak or solve this??
Thanks in advance!!
Sam
Hi all,
I tested this on another device (with same ROM) and it seems to be a bug in Windows...
Does anyone has the same problem?
Sam
Hi all,
new update...
I tested a HTC 3300 (Artemis) with WM6 and this shows me the same problem!
Reminders don't work like it should be!
Strange that no-one else has the same problem...

Problem solved...
Hi,
I found a solution to solve this problem on all devices.
Let's call it the "LedBugFix"
Just copy the CAB to your device, run the CAB en perform a soft-reset.
Now, the amber light should stay active until you "read" the reminder.
Note that in your "sounds & notifications" this checks for reminder should be:
[X] Play sound (can checked or not)
[ ] Repeat (SHOULD BE OFF!) (Can be solved by creating a WAV that plays for x minutes)
[ ] Display message on screen (SHOULD BE OFF!)
[X] Flash light for xxx (your choise)
[X] Vibrate (your choise)
Have fun!

Sam, You have no idea how much I have been looking for a solution to this flashing amber light problem. I have(or should I say, HAD) the Verizon XV6800(WM6). In the Sounds and Notifications for MMS, the option to turn on REPEAT and FLASHING LIGHT is greyed out and will not allow you to turn on these settings. Can you please tell me if your solution will or is designed to fix this particular problem for MMS? Also, is there some reason why "Display message on screen" must be turned OFF. Does this mean that the icon on the Today screen for MMS will NOT SHOW that an MMS has been received???
I'm really sorry that I can't try your solution myself, because I got so sick and tired of dealing with Verizon and UTStarcomm over this issue and the fact that ActiveSync was always turning itself on, that I finally got so worn out I just returned the phone within my "30 Day Worry Free Guarantee". I want this phone very badly, but bugs like this make me wonder what others exist that I had yet to discover. Dealing with these mega-corporations and getting nowhere just made me disgusted and fed up so I returned it.
I may be a glutton for punishment, but I am giving serious consideration to getting this phone again(It will be my THIRD time) so any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Your efforts to resolve this problem are commendable.
Regards,
Mark

Hi Sam
I've been searching for this but couldn't find the right entries. Found it just now. I'll give it a try and hoping it works like you say. Thanks anyway for you efforts.
I did give this a try and while it seems to work, my backlight now is an Max Low when I turn on the phone, Unlocking is then very difficult when driving. Once unlocked the display remains dim and when checking the display brightness sliders, they are in the correct positions that I last left them, just moving one causes the display to go bright again, until the next power on.
I un-installed the cab, reset, and all is normal again....wierd.
Just in the case you can simply fix this weird WM "feature" you can use DontForget application.
DontForget is easy-to-use and highly customizable Windows Mobile application that can repeatedly remind you of unread SMS text messages, unread MMS multimedia messages,
missed calls, unread E-mails and missed calendar events by sound, vibration, notification window or hardware LED.
DontForget also can do much more ...
More you can read in this thread
or directly here.
First, I have searched these forums using both Google and its own search engine in an effort to answer my own question. I came across a good number of posts that raised the same question but did not have an offered solution. If I have missed the correct post, please link it.
The question is simply "how do I eliminate the "Notification" bubble that pops up and reminds me that I have unread e-mail AND the "Notification" tab at the bottom of the screen that has to be dismissed before my standard soft-key "Calendar" reappears?"
I have a program that tells me how many unread e-mails I have; I do not need another one. I want the phone to play a sound (if desired) on a incoming e-mail and then just give me the icon that shows the number of unread e-mails. I do not want to see the "Notification" bubble pop up at the bottom of my screen or the remaining/returning "Notification" soft-key on the bottom bar.
I have already gone into the Settings > Sounds & Notifications > Notifications and turned everything off related to e-mail. I have even tried editing the registry, as suggested in another post such as:
______
"...... found this on another site. It may help you..
1. Install a registry editor like Resco File Explorer’s add-on registry editor or PHM registry editor.
2. Open HKEY_CURRENT_USER
3. Tap control panel>notifications
4. Tap default
5. Tap options
6. Choose what value will be applicable to you and replace the default number with it (for XDA Atom, the number was 13, I replaced it with 8 to suit my preference):
0 show icon
1 show icon and play notification sound
2 show icon and vibration
3 show icon and vibration and play notification sound
4 same as 0
5 same as 1
6 same as 3
7 same as 3
8 show icon and notification bubble
9 show icon and play notification sound and show notification bubble
10 show icon and notification bubble and vibration
7. If you want to configure how long the notification bubble will stay on the screen, tap on duration instead of options. Change the number there into the number of seconds you want the notification bubble to stay up."
____________
The foregoing does not work for me - or I may be doing something wrong. Any help would be appreciated.
I have had the same problem no matter what ROM I use. Cannot figure out how to turn off email notification.
How about trying:
Settings
Personal
Sounds & Notifications
Notifications
Messaging: New E-mail Message
& uncheck Display Message on screen.
Thanks GSLEON3 for the suggestion....but as stated in paragragh 4 of my post, I have already tried that and I still get the nuisiance notification. I have also tried editing a few of the suggested registry values (with no luck obviously) and, according to my search of the forums, this is not the first time the question has been asked.
I am confident one of the brainy ROM modders has the answer.......maybe?
it can't be done, the only thing that you can get rid of is the message automatically popping up, which is what the settings change refered to in paragraph 4 does. You will always get the ntoification icon and on the left soft key. Someone would have to hack the resources that tie into tmail.exe (tmail.exe is the app that the mail client uses).

Thanks. Now I can quit worrying about trying to fix it. It is, however, a nuisance.

OK This is way over my pay grade, so who wants a PayPal donation?
I found a way, sort of
Had the same problem until I found this post
http://wiki.modaco.com/index.php/Windows_Mobile_5_Registry_Tweaks
Disable SMS received notification
The following setting disable SMS notification and sms recieved icon on screen
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Settings\SMSAvailable = 0
To enable again
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Settings\SMSAvailable = 1
The upside is that it gets rid of the bubble, the downside is that is disables all native notification for SMS. I'm using PocketCM, so I still get visual notification, but no sound or vibration.
I have come accross that post as well...unfortunately, it only addresses the issue of how to disable the SMS notification (which other registry tweak apps do as well). I am more interested in disabling the e-mail notification bubble, that has to be "Viewed" or "Dismissed"...............
Thank you (anyway) for the input.
When i receive an sms, i've 2 problems:
1. When standby: Just a light signal - no sounds or nothing is visible on the screen.
2. Ready: When i receive a sms, i hear my sound and when i wanna answer that sms, that sounds still gone.
What i want is:
1. A sounds + sms visible on screen
2. Stop sound when answering
I hope you all can help me...
Got a similar question: is it possible to get the sound while still staying in standby when receiving an SMS?
I know there's the registry tweak "Wake Up on New SMS", but I don't want the Diamond to come out of standby in my pocket.
I do want to be notified that I've got a message though
Anyone knows if this is possible?
Wake Up on New SMS --> HKLM\Drivers\BuiltIn\RIL : DisableSMSWakeUpEvent <-- set to "1" by default. Change value to "0"

Yup i know but that doesn't solve the problem of the sound!
I have same problem, do you have any solution
At the moment not... Maybe someone else.??
1. Start > settings > systems >sounds and notifications > notification tab, look for New text message, tick all
2. start > setting > Personal > sounds and notifications > tick "events" (warnings, system events)
and then go to your mssg inbox, open message options, tick request message delivery notification
Dear developers
We all know that when we have recieved a sms/email or a missed call that the led's around the action-button are not so bright. It's hard to see you have had a missed call or something in that category.
It's it possible to make a program that will light up the entire display in bright white light (or let it flicker 3 times fast) once a minute or so (and make it possible to choose your own interval)...
This would be a great addition for the TD!!
Anybody??
One of the custom tweaks available at Diamond TF3D Config is WakeUpOnNewSMS, that will bring to live your device on new sms
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=405749
or you can just set to '0' the key HLM\Drivers\BUILTIN\RIL\DisableSMSWakeUpEvent
About the missing calls, the device already lights up and flashes.
I think the main problem about keeping waking up the device in intervals of time its the annoyince of pressing at random and taking actions on the phone without noticing.
