Something very weird is happening on my Diamond. Suddenly my on screen full querty keyboard is stuck in the numeric mode and hitting the "ABC" button won't go to the normal mode where you can type letters. If I change to other type of keyboard, for example the Phone Keypad, it'll also type only numbers not letters, no matter in what mode it is.
I've tried soft reset but the issue persists. Last app I installed was Mobile Justice but I don't think it has something to do with the issue...
Anyone have seen this before? any suggestion besides hard reset?
Yes, I had same problem and found out that it was caused by the installation of a custom T9.cab file (Dutch). I uninstalled it and problem was gone.

Aha, I think I installed one of those cabs a few days ago as well, but how do you uninstall that? it doesn't appear in the add/remove programs window.
how dod you guys fixed it? got same problem
Try this:
Go into the registry and ensure the following settings, then soft reset.
HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Layouts\e001 0409
Layout Text to "eT9 IME"
Ime File to "\windows\eT9ime.dll"
HKCR\CLSID\{73AB106C-A726-484b-B610-BE3E1CF39821}
(Default) = "XT9"
thanks mate appriciated. worked perfect.
I exp it. I found out that. Restored or copy contacts before customize the keyboard and it works like normal

Hi,
I have a Treo 750v (Vodafone version) which like what it's box said it is meant for email solution, that's why the left soft menu of the Today screen menu is set to Email.
Anyone know how to change this?
Thanks, appriciate your share of knowledge!
I forgot the details but this i know as much
You have to download the register editor program. Search around the registry is all the same when it comes to changing soft key for all WM phones.
The only problem with the Treo 750 is when you change the softkey from email to something else it ends up adding an extra short cut. So in essence you are not overwriting that key, all you are doing is adding an extra feature on top of the existing email button.
Maybe someone had better success than I did can chime in
Using a registry editor, navigate to Hkey_Current_User/Software/Microsoft/Today/Keys/112
Change all 3 values to reflect your new function

It's all because Palm plugins - they overlay it. If you disable Active Call (or Dial Lookup?) you can have native-windows softkeys. It was all described in instructions how to ged back default dialpad.
i just downloaded the soft key changer that i found on here i think it was in the hermes section and copied it to my windows folder... after i did that it shows up in my settings and i can change both soft keys to what i want

Hi folks
I've just upgraded to the new HTC WM6.1 ROM update and, to my horror, found out that I'm unable to type 'ó','á','ð', etc. using the Fn Space combination.
I've tried to apply the 'Tilt keyboard fix' and 'TyTN II keyboard fix' aswell as going through the forums digging for a solution, but to no avail
Does anyone know a solution for this?
Thanks in advance!
in my signature under scandanavian keyboard fix
Thanks for your pointer!
I tried installing both the "Scandinavian keyboard.cab" and "Nordic Keypad Mapping.cab" but all I get is a " " (space) when I do the Fn Space combination
I'm not sure how to install the "XDA_JCEspi2005_Sweden_Input_Kaiser.zip" file. I tried to rename the .zip to .cab but the installation was unsuccessfull
sorry never noticed, but yea must have been a bad download. I will try to see if i can get it again
surely you would get more help posting this in the ROM section of the forum

Sorry if I'm posting in the wrong section, I just figured as this was a official update from HTC that it would become standard within time
I've tried to soft reset between installing the cabs, but that didn't help
SOLVED!!!
I finally found a solution for this!
I'm not quite sure if all these steps are necesary as I'm not going to be retrying this fix as it finally works after days of pulling hairs. Here's what I did:
1. I installed gullum diamond keys and gullum Dansk Diamond keys. Did a reboot, disabled everything in "XT9 Settings...", did a reboot.
2. I changed the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/HARDWARE/DEVICEMAP/KEYBD/CWSLayout registry value from '1' to '0'. Rebooted.
3. I downloaded duttythroy Disable xt9 and rebooted.
As a side result this also fixed the following issue HTC WM6.1 ROM : Add Recipient to SMS..
Hope this helps anyone stuck with the same problem
I guess the "disable XT9" is the only part needed in case you are anly misssing accents. I changed the registry manually (two keys), soft reset and it worked

didn't work for me
I have been looking in the forum for a solution for the Tilt keyboard. Everytime I ask, someone usually responds pointing me to the Tilt Keyboard Fix cab, that was posted by Taurus Bulba.
However, installing that fix, results in the keyboard being mapped with the ATT layout, by enabling the CWS layout in the registry. This makes every key work as it should, but it kills the Fn+Space combination.
The Fn-Space key combination, typed after a character, changes it to others, as per what is defined in sym049.txt (or whatever symxxx.txt file you have in the windows directory).
For example, if you type an "a", press Fn+Space, you get an á, then à,â, etc. Same with all other characters. This, as you can imagine, is important for those that type in languages other than English, that require accents. And for those that want to use characters not in the keyboard often (like the Euro sign "€" or the british pound sign, "£", the ç, etc.).
I think the issue is with the CWS layout (CWS being Cingular/ATT). That layout doesn't have the Fn+Space in it. The Hermes keyboard had a blue "á" and "ü" written on the top left corner of the Space bar. The Tilt doesn't have those. In fact, if you install the original ATT Rom (no need for keyboard fix there), the Fn+Space combination doesn't work.
The only way I've seen to get Fn-Space back to life is NOT to use the CWS layout that comes from the ATT Keyboard Fix. Using any non ATT Rom will allow you to get Fn-Space, but at the cost of getting many of the other Fn keys mapped wrong. For example, the ! and the @ are swapped, the ; gives you a %, and so on.
Sounds like there should be a new keyboard layout that is 99% like the one resulting from the keybord fix (CWS layout) but that adds the Fn-Space combination to it.
Any suggestions?

Unfortunately, the proposed solution didn't work. I think the issue is with CWS layout (CWS being Cingular/ATT). That layout doesn't have the Fn+Space in it. For example, the ! and the @ are swapped, the ; gives you a %, and so on.
Didn't work for me either.
Tried both ways. By manually and with that .cab. Both resulting same problem.
I can use those accented characters, but now I can type only numbers with diamond keyboards. :-o If I change registry back to the original. I can write and everything else works, but those accented in harware keyboard.

Final and simple solution
Dear all,
I fiddled around with my old TYTN (Hermes) and none of the solutions found in the net really helped. While it was quite easy to fix the QWERTZ / QWERTY problem on the hardware keyboard (letters Y and Z inverted) the Fn+Space problem was a bit harder to solve. None of the various cab files or other hints really seemed to help.
So here is what I did to finally fix this:
1. copied a sym.0407.txt into the Windows directory using ActiveSync
2. applied the following registry settings:
REGEDIT4
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\keyboard layout]
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\keyboard layout\toggle]
"Hotkey"="1"
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\keyboard layout\Preload]
@="e0010407"
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\keyboard layout\Preload\1]
@="e0010407"
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Layouts]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Layouts\e0010407]
"Layout Text"="COMP IME"
"Ime File"="compime.dll"
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Layouts\e0010409]
"Ime File"="compime.dll"
"Layout Text"="COMP IME"
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Keyboard Layout]
"Active"="e0010407"
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\OEM\Qwerty]
"Layout"=dword:00020407
With these settings I have Y and Z assigned correctly and the Fn+Space working as well. I guess this will not only work on the TYTN (Hermes) but also on the TYTN II (Kaiser).
Kind regards,
DAC324
Attached are the two files needed (sym.0407.txt and the registry settings file). If somebody could explain me how to make a CAB for them, I will gladly do that, too.
Hello,
I used the search and Google to look for an option to turn T9 off, but I couldn't find anything. I'm currently using the Full QWERTY keyboard on my MDA Compact IV and by default it has T9 on, which I really don't like. Every time I start writing a text or something else I have to switch to the ABC mode.
So basicly my question is: Is it possible to change the default setting of these modes? T9 is on by default, but I want to be off by default and ABC mode on by default. I hope someone can help me.
Also on another note, is it possible to show 'Tasks' in the start menu instead of just 'Calendar'. Now I have to click on 'Start', 'Calendar' and after that on 'Tasks'. I just want it to be right there. I'm by the way guessing those are the menu names, since I'm using a Dutch version. It's called 'Taken' and 'Agenda' on my phone.
Thanks in advance.
*bump*
Doesn't anyone know how to do this? Is it even possible?
Same here...is there somebody who knows a solution????
Really NOBODY?????
I've been trying to look for an option to change in the registry. So far I haven't been able to find anything. So, is there someone else out there who knows how to help us ?
There is a cab file here for disabling t9, the problem is that it doesn't disable only t9 in full qwerty, but in all the keyboards, and on the standard keypad version you only get numbers. not very convenient...

And by the standard keypad you mean the keypad of the actual phone? That's not convenient at all. I wouldn't removing T9 from all the keyboards though. I have never used it and probably never will, since I just don't like it.

I have the same problem and there's another thread on this subject. There seems to be a few people now with this but no solution yet. If you look on the other thread, there is a utility called SIPChange which will allow you to make sure you get the "right" keyboard you want as default but in terms of selecting from the little arrow, forget it (until someone can work out which registry entries are causing this).
Gary.

when you say it won't stick, do you mean it changes back after a soft reset? I had that trouble with my current ROM but sipchange fixed it. try increasing the loading delay in sipchange.
I use TouchPal now which sets itself as default just fine - and I can't imagine needing any other keyboard again!

Thanks Davey101, tried the default 10secs, then 20secs and it did not work, after your advice I switched to 30sec and softReset, then 40sec the same affect.
Then I remembered in my Apache their was always a sipchange shortcut in Startup and when I checked the Diamond their was none, so I created one with the Set parm as my Apache, softreset and I am good to go.

Old version
I'm make a small program, which change current SIP when stylus out of the case and in the case.
Just unzip, and run program. Run again, and you can stop background process.
Settings in registry:
key HKCU\Software\HtcExtFun
value StylusInSipName - string name of SIP when stylus in the case
value StylusOutSipName - string name of SIP when stylus out of the case
example of reg settings (included in attached archive):
Code:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HtcExtFun]
"StylusOutSipName"="Keyboard - VGAKEY"
"StylusInSipName"="TouchPal"
Sorry I messed up im such an idiot!
And would it be possible to change the diamond in some kind of explosive device if the stylus is pulled out and in five times in less than three seconds ?
Hmmm James Bond on TV tonight, sorry for that.
The real question was : what do you call SIP : is it any program ? Does it interfere with the "notes" opening during a call ?
SIP = "Soft Input Panel"
It's the method of inputting text on a ppc, such as keyboard, transcriber etc...
Thanks a lot exidler, I've been missing this feature
My question is will it interfere/conflict with a SmartSIP application? I'm not in the mood for a Hard Reset just now due to conflicting SIPs...
Hello,
Nice idea but when I execute the HtcExtFun.exe I received this message :
"can't initialize SIP CLSIDs for stylus status"
My Rom is HTC_FRA_1.93.406.1
Thank's for you help

Just change the registry keys to whatever SIPs you use. You probably don't even have a "Keyboard - VGAKEY" installed.
2ALL: Also be sure to input localized names for SIPs into reg keys (for non-WWE ROMs). Good luck!
Btw, it works just fine with SmartSIP...
Good job, exidler! Thank you. It's just what I wanted. Will probably uninstall SmartSIP now...
At begining of topic, asking about runing Notes when stylus pulled out.
My question: may be add feature to run something when stylus pulled out? Not only when call in progress.

Would be a nice addition, but I'd prefer it to be user-configurable (on/off), with a list of exceptions. So each time I'm about to rename a file it won't open Notes or whatever.

I Repackaged it in a cab file that adds the reg key to change between Compact QWERTY and Keyboard. Also drops a shortcut under
Start Menu>Programs

Video of the software here. I think its great, but could obviously do with a configuration panel and having a shortcut dropped into \windows\startup.

Really nice, but the shortcut doesn't work.

It only worked for me after a soft reset, and then starting the app once.

To have it start at every boot up, paste the app in /Windows/StartUp
Very convenient app, they should have implemented this in the original ROM .
Awesome!...
It worked after I add ZaJules's Reg file.
But I want to be able to switch between:
Compact QWERTY and Fitaly by textware.
I edited the reg location (in windows registry) from keyboard to fitaly
now removing/replacing stylus doesn't do anything...
cheers, stevo.
[edit] Maybe it's called something else in the registry...
[edit] fixed it.
I had "Keyboard Qwerty" insteat of "Keyboard QWERTY", so it IS CAP specific!.
cheers, swesome.... This bl00dy phone just gets better and better every day...!
Updated the cab to include the automated startup
GREAT small application, very handy indeed.
re not go
error on startup
saluti dvdfilm
when using the exidler....cab I got an error while starting up. It seems the application is missing a reference. When I start it manually I get an error about missing reference in registry.
I use original Rom 1.93GER
