hey ya'll, (may be wrong place for this, so my bad) -- I just recently had to hard reset because I installed kaiser notifications and when ever I'd get a missed call, it never stop playing the missed call sound...
so after hard resetting, I now get the 2 arrows with an X for the GPRS/EDGE/3G icon -- I've searched around and haven't found a fix (I tried deleting my connection settings and re-entering them, but doesn't work)
tia for any suggestions!

I was told the fix for this yesterday and made a CAB for it.
It's a problem with Diamond/Raphael based ROMs.

ah, thanks! however, I tried it and it didn't fix it (and I did a soft reset afterwards too)

You should add the following key to the registry:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shell\Taskbar
Add a DWORD called LegacyGprsNotification = 1.
This should work after a soft reset.
I not, you'll have to try another ROM. It is a problem with the newer ROM ports.
I know raiisak has fixed in his new beta ROM.

unfortunately still doesn't work -- And I've been using L29 v9 for a while now, and the gprs icon never had an issue -- it's just after I now did hard reset that this started happening
doh, just found out what it was! I had installed a different dialer which upon uninstalling it fixed my issue.... haha
thanks for your help though, I appreciate it!

What is the deal with msvc not announcing calls from the device speaker. I have spent two days searching and figuring out why. I cannot come up with a answer. If there is a trick please let me know. I am using a Tilt w/stock rom and tried all the variables to make it work.
***FIXED*** Here is a .cab to fix the issue, of msvc not announcing calls.
1. disable msvc

Yes i did, still nothing
two days searching????
I would have given up after 5 seconds of Google!
google "kaiser voice command" (without quotes) and it's the first listing!
for those who don't like searching jump straight to these posts here
Hope this helps.
Confirmed works fine, after following these steps, on v1615 Vodafone (Kaiser).
(Just for info - when replacing files, recommend you do this in Safe Mode [Spb Pocket Plus has Safe Mode facility])

I cant take all the credit for it, my brother did most of the work and used my device for the troubleshooting.
but it is working 100% for me and im not mad anymore.
I'm not sure what I did wrong but when I get a call, no VC, no ring-tone, nothing. So when I uninstalled the *Fix* it also removed VC from the settings and I can no longer access it. I'll try re-instaling VC and see what happens..

that happened to me the first time. i had to make sure msvc was disabled, do this under the setting, then install the fix. and you should be good.
Please let me know how this fix is working.
hello, has anyone used this fix, please let me know.
Does anyone know how to increase the volume of the reading out text messages. It is brilliant while driving for texts to be read out. I have tried messing with
HKCU\Control Pannel\SoundCategories\VoiceCommand1 - AttenuationCategory = 1
HKCU\Control Pannel\SoundCategories\VoiceCommand1 - InitVol = 7
Anyone know what the optimimum settings are ? I can't seem to get the voice as loud as the ringer
C
follow the steps from the post i linked earlier and MSVC 1.6 works fine with BT and built-in speaker.

Attentuation is fine at 1.
Put InitVol to 40.
Also - whilst you're at it, go to this key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Speech\Voices
and change "DefaultTTSRate"
default is 4... this is the SPEED. Increase the number to increase the speed. Lower number = slower.
It still isn't very loud. Seems the same as when I had "initVol" at 7 (I also tried it at 3)
Any ideas ?

Just to prevent any confusion, this .cab is just a repackaging of the 4 files offered by Kavi here last year. In addition, his is a repost of an earlier posting (which I can't now find).
In any event, these files are simply versions of the files from MSVC 1.6.17913. So, if you are running a version prior to that, copying these files over will fix it.
For mor information see the MSVC guide link in my sig. I am trying to clear up confusion with all the advertised MSVC fixed floating around.
thx
I've tried it all!! The wifi will not turn on at all. In the settings tab and under connection, the comm manager wifi switch pressed will cause the wait cursor to come up, but after the process it wont turn to on. Can anyone please help me.

Not Sure What you mean.
1. Go to comm manager
2. Hit WiFI and the wait icon starts (should be a quick spin and its on, but the icon goes on for a while).
3. Switch instead of turning green animates back to off.
I have not loaded anything other then SKtools that could change the registry or system in anyway (no other tweaks except Schapp's)
I looked all over this forum and found tricks for other HTC phones, tried one or two, but they are made for other phones. I looked over the GPS and in Google Earth disabled it. I have also done a hard reset. I also get a device.exe error.
Please somebody help us. My diamond's wi-fi doesn't work. I try a lot of tfink. I try a lot of time hard reset. And several times upgrade diffrent roms. Now i use 1.37.401 europa rom. But my diamond's wi-fi still not work.

I have the same problem with german htc touch diamond and several roms.
I think the hardware has an error. Bull**** !!!
Has anyone an other idea?
I had this issue with my S710, if you turned the wifi on it would flip to on for a second before going back to off - only happened if I has it hooked up to a pc via usb. Not sure if its the same with the diamond?
I couldn't enable Wifi properly on my last phone despite hard and soft resets. After trying lots of times, I gave up and sent the phone back to Orange. I currently have a Diamond Touch that has no problems enabling, but can't connect to my router using WPA2.
I think I have the solution for wifi / wlan problems on diamond
Over one week i try to start my wifi (100 hardresets, 5 new ROMs) and then i believe it is an hardware error.
Under ...\connection\wifi\ was not the tab "wireless", only the tab "networkcards"
My last try was the solution:
1. In my HTC Kaiser is the same wifi-hardware
2. I export the registrykey "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\TNETW12511" from the kaiser to a .reg-file
3. I delete this registrykey on the diamond and import the .reg-file from the kaiser
4. Before I can start wifi i make about 5 softresets and try to start
5. But the start was only successful when I make first a connection to the pc with ActiveSync and then a softreset
This is my solution, please answer me when it works for you too
One problem is still there: after an usb connection wifi will not turn on. I must make a softreset but thats no problem for me.
Its the same what "huwwatkins" describe at #13 with the S710
Here is my regfile from kaiser

same here, called retailer today. told me HTC is working on a fix. will be available in about two weeks. let ya know
Same problem here..
I have the same problem. Tried everything - no luck. Thinking of turning it in for repair - should I flash the original SPL/ROM for warranty reasons or can they tell it's been flashed anyway ?
wifi working fine on mine
i have no problems at all

Yes my diamond has this also only when plugged with USB.
Grtzzz
I was messing with bluetooth trying to sync using it and now I cannot get my Tilt to connect to my laptop at all.
I also noticed that many of my icons don't work anymore.
I have ghosted my hard drive (removing any bluetooth software) and removed the COM port references in my phone, still nothing.
Anyone have any idea how I might get the usb connection restablished?
I'm desparate - all ideas welcome,
MBN
try a hard reset, it will set your phone like it came out of the box.
for hard a reset, press the 2 soft keys while inserting the stylus in the soft reset hole.
Cosmic Blue, thanks for the quick response.
Okay, I'm an idiot.... two soft keys? Which ones are those? I'd try it right now if I knew...
and PS, I'm using No Thrills ROM, not the AT&T, does that matter?
^ the soft keys are the buttons above the internet and messaging buttons.
Thanks for the input, because I was guessing, I tried "holding down" the Calendar and Contacts menu items and then rest.
Although it didn't rewrite the phone, it somehow managed to get the usb connection working again (and trust me, I'd already tried every other reset/reboot without luck).
So I then was able to reinstall the ROM. After all that, I found out that it happened all over again when I reinstalled Good Mail. Good grief, I hate this program, but have to have it for work.
Looks like Good Mail isn't compatible with No Thrills 6.1.

I purchased my HTC Touch Diamond few days ago and I have the following problems:
Item 1:
After testing several programs (Tomtom7, googlemaps, etc.) internal GPS has never work.
QuickGPS works ok (because in reality only uses the data connection).
The phone was originally with ROM 1.37.456.2, and I also tried with Elite 1.0 ROM. With both ROMs internal still do not work.
Any suggestion?
Item 2:
When I receive a call usually the "Answer" button is pressed in the case involuntarily. Thus the call is answered without knowing it.
Is there any way to minimize this problem?
Of course I appreciate any suggestions.
Ricardo from Uruguay.
Do you have A-GPS (Assisted GPS) enabled with AdvancedConfig ?
If so, disable it.
Very strange...
Can you give us your Radio version ?
Did change something ont the GPS settings ?
Please find the solution at my post

GPS doesn't work
I have Agps Disable.
I have already done many Hard Resets.
Now I am using "HTS GPS Tool". In the setting tab aI can see a lot of information coming, but Satellites used is 0.
Of course no other navigation software is working.
Do you recommend any other ROM?
Thanks in advace for any suggestion.
Ricardo.
I have the same problem
I have AGPS disable
The first time, i run my tomtom 6, it works very well, after i reboot my diamond, it doesnt work any more, i wait all the time for the signal GPS
I use the original ROM, but i dont think it is the ROM problem
This is a common problem.
Don't bother messing around with settings it wont work, just do a hard reset and the GPS should come back

everybody do that ?
If your programs wont access GPS, and you get no GPS by altering the 'external GPS' to com port 4 (program) and Com 0 or 2 (hardware) and ticking the 'let windows manage GPS' box, then GPS will not appear unless you do a hard reset

so, do u mean that, one time i do a soft reset, then a hard reset have to be done for GPS?
My Diamond once lost the ability to get any GPS signal, but this is how I fixed it...
1. Go to "externalGPS" then "Access" tab then Untick the checkbox then hit ok
2. Turn the device off
3. Turn it back on then tick the checkbox then hit ok
It should now find a signal (May take about 2 mins the first time)
I've spent hours reading every thread on here and other forums about GPS not working and changing every com port in gps manager, and nothing worked.
Its just so much quicker to do a hard reset.
Don't waste your time. If you can't get GPS back by changing the com port settings a couple of times, then don't mess with it all night. Do a hard reset and get on with your life
I had similar issues. Seemed to get solved for me by repeatedly selecting and uselecting the "Use GPS" in Google maps. Not sure if it's the same issue but it solved it in my case.
My gps stopped working, too. When I pleaded for help here, Akito gave me this solution:
"The HTC GPS tool is for download at http://rapidshare.com/files/84815853...C_GPS_TOOL.cab and it's discussed here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=360477 .
In the first screenshot in that thread you can see a drop-down box which says "hot start". What I do is to first click the button "open"... then in the tab "sattelite" my problem gets confirmed (can't see any sattelite then). I go back to the first tab, I click the drop-down box, select "cold start", click Nav. Init. click the button close and immediatly open.... et voila, it works again. Sounds quite complicated, however once you've done it a 1st and 2nd time, it's a piece of cake lol"
It worked immediately. Try it - and you will send the kindest thoughts to Akito, too.
When I used HTC tool, the only port that could be opened was port 3 and 7. After opening either of these, when I pressed INIT, I got the response "Unable to Send NMEA command"
So there was definitely some problem with the GPS being "seen"
The thing is like this, when I have one program running with GPRS connected, the incoming call will reset the phone.
Does anybody know how to fix this, will ROM update fix this?

did you try a hard reset? (remember make backups)
if hard reset doesnt work (or if you want) you can update the ROM and do the MITTY.
Mitty will solve your problem, but as I said, you can try a hard reset first.
