How to enable backlight in phone mode? - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

I've searched the threads trying to find a setting that would allow the backlight to be on while making a call on the diamond.
I adjusted the backlight to two minutes but after making the call the screen goes off and if I need to input other number during the call I have to press the power button to get the screen back, is there anyway I can delay the screen for longer? It is a pain when you have to call say, customer service and enter a few options before getting to the right department.

Install http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=413798 or DiamondTweak which has the option to disable it.

Thank you so much for that info. I installed the Diamond Tweak and it is already doing wonders on my Diamond. Thanks again!!

Today Screen Speed Dial App

How is the app that is included in Faria & et al ROM called? One to set speed dial on the today screen
thanks
Personally, I like it. Only thing is that it's too easy to dial and I'm afraid that I'm going to end up making a lot of accidental phone calls, so I've had to turn it off. If there was a way to change it so that it requires a doubletap or better yet a tap and hold to choose dial from the menu then I think I would be able to keep it.

Vibrating dial pad buttons

On my old ETEN M600 (RIP) I had a phone pad app/skin that gave me big buttons and when a dial button was pressed the phone vibrated for a 1/4 of a second. It was great physical feedback to feel that little blip when a button was pressed and I believe it allowed me to dial numbers quicker. Anyone know of a app that enables this for the Tilt/Kaiser?
And yes I did a search for this before I posted a new thread.
Thanks

How to set up one button press on/off with device and screen locked
Also for those that are interested. I have AE Button Plus, Ilauncher and DeviceLock by Matt Armstrong installed on my Tilt. The combination of these programs allow me to program the left softkey to turn off the Tilt. Matt's Devicelock auto locks the phone and prevents any other buttons to be pressed. When I want to use the phone I can press the left hard key that corresponds with the left soft key and that turns on the phone and unlocks it with one button push. This set up gives me one button off/on and all other keys and the screen is locked from accidental button pushes. Now I just wished that Devicelock would shut off the phone after 10 seconds if not unlocked. Right now my phone is in my pocket and if I accidentally push any button other then the left hard key my screen will turn on in a locked state and time out only after 1 minute if no other buttons are pressed. I would like it to turn back off faster.
BTW Thanks Matt
Not an app but it can be done with registry tweaking:
[It involves modifying registry keys so beware].
Navigate to HKCU\ControlPanel\Sounds\
In here there are a bunch of keys named Dtmf which represent all the keypad keys [0-9, #, *]
Rename Standard DWORD parameter Sound to Sound1
Create new String Parameter Sound
Assign value *vibrate* to this new parameter.
Save and exit, test it, then go back and do the same for all your keys, sorted.
A .cab for this?
Is there a .cab floating around for these reg settings?
It would be a great contribution to the community if someone could whip up a cab to make these reg changes ;-)
Wow, now that was usefull. I had installed some small prog to do the same, but it didn't work great. It wouldn't vibrate unless you pressed for a more than 250 ms. This mod vibrates immediately! Thanks!
someone should tell Kaisertweaks that that needs to go in
Here you go, working great on the TyTN II

Thanks Gizmo!
I love this place. Where would WinMo be without xda-developers???
Any chance you could upload the .cab directly instead of zipped? For some reason it won't extract on my tilt and I can't get to a PC tonight.
Thanks again.
Sure thing, here you go
Installed and it is working great. This is really a great tweak!
aren't dtmf tones what are used for things like voicemail and such? like "press 7 to delete" it recognizes the sound? does this affect that at all?
I don't think this tweak has any effect on dtmf tones. I just tried my VM and everything worked as usual.
strange...i installed this on my tilt (htc rom) and when i touched a button there was no vibrate, until about 5 seconds later, it was delayed i guess, and after that i never felt another vibrate, even after a few resets.
bump.
would like to get this working.
Will this make it beep and vibrate or just vibrate? It would be cool it it could do both at once!. Also, maybe post cab to revert back to just the sound in case anyone wants to change it back?
Mikeeey,
Try holding the number down a little longer. If you just touch it, it will display the number but not vibrate.. I had the same trouble also.
I do appreciate the afford, but shouldnt it just work when it notices a keypress, not a long keypress.
You have to hold it for a little time. Thats how it works

That's how the cab file works. But when I did the registry edits as listed in the 2nd post, then it is an immediate vibrate. I used to use the cab file version. I removed that and went with the direct reg edits. Now it vibrates immediately.

thanks for pointing that out dalewinterstein, it works for me now.
i did the manual reg edit to try and make it respond faster but it doesnt, actually the keys lighting up after being pressed dont respond fast enough to my presses, does this happen for anyone else? i mean if i hold it just a bit longer it will light up and vibrate but im normally faster than that.

Kaiser Dialpad changing to Status page

Does anybody know how to change the setting for the dialpad during a phone call? I need to have the dialpad on all the time, even during a phone call.
Thanks.

Hi,
KaiserTweak can do it:
Call -> disable both "Fast Sleep" and "Sleep" options!
Try this great application, with many other tweaks!
PS: Nex time, however, use better the forum "search" feature!!
Ciao
Thanks for your help. But I have KT installed and the first two settings are disabled. The only thing it did was solve the phone going black after 10 seconds. My dialpad is still replaced by the status page. And I need to have the dialpad up all the time.
I also check the registry settings that KT changes, and they were changed. So I don't know if this is an issue with my phone or all Kaisers.
Any registry tweak that you know?
oh, i get it........you mean the keypad dont you?

Ok, sorry, but i didn't well understand your bug, or requirement!!
What do you mean for "Status page"??
Can you post some screenshot?
Sorry, again, dude
don't need screenshots, i understand now!
But only one question: after you start a call can you tap the left softkey and show the dialpad? if so, you would like to always show the dialpad tab, and not the status page, also when the call start without pressing any key, right??

I believe this is exactly what he meant, and I for one would like to know also.
Dom; that's exactly what I meant. 99% of my calls I make through my pbx, and because of that, I need to keep inputing numbers. The fact that I need to click on the "show keypad" on every call is annoying and dangerous (when I am driving). Yes, the show key pad is on the left corner, but it would be more convenient to have it on all the time, and when and if I need the status page, I would press the show status page button.
I am sorry I was not clear on my first post.
Thanks.

Couple of (I Hope) Easy Tilt Questions

I had an 8125 and now I have a tilt. In making the switch I have run into a few anooying problems that I am sure someone already solved? I have looked all over the forums so if these are answered, could you please point me in the right direction?
1) The ever popular PTT issue. Took me a while but I got it going. It was interesting that there was an incompatibility between the fix and BatteryStatus. Not sure what THAT was about? But it is working now.
Soooo...How do I get button FIVE to appear on my button maps? Neither the stock button feature in the settings nor AEButton Plus shows button 5, the camera button. It would also be kewl to map the OK button on the side, but I am guessing that is too much to ask? *Blink*
2) I have set the brightness at about the medium level (that was a disappointment because I was able to set it to the lowest on the 8125) but somehow the backlight keeps going dim after a time. I have looked all over the parameters to configure this but I can't find it? How do I keep the display from going dim on me? I have the tilt set to sleep at 1 minute and I do not have the backlight going dim at all, so I don't know what else to do?
3) Now that PTT button is mapped, I did what all of you did, I set it to Voice Command. But of course the push and hold I want the convenience of RECORD like I had on the 8125. I have tried all of the shortcuts and such I could find on this site and everyone of them put the voice recorder on my screen but did NOT initiate the record feature. Is there no way to do this on the tilt? I think I remember something about a parameter? /b or something like that? I tried to find it again but I was unable to.
Thanks for your help, guys...

Hi Welcome
Not sure bout your other two questions, but the backlight is easy
Look in Start/Settings/System/ Backlight
You want the second tab, which is for Battery Power.
There you can set the timeout for it.
PS: If you have already tried this, then sorry for pointing it out, but sometimes the obvious solution is hard to find
AEButton Plus
I am able to remap both the OK button on the side and the Camera button with AEButton PLus.
I do have a slight problem that I am looking for a solution and hope someone knows the answer. When I remapped the OK button on the side, the first press still gives me the start menu no matter what I have it set for. The second press does the function I have programmed for double press. But is there anyway to not have it give me the start menu on the first press? I have it as none in the standard WM6 buttons panel. And I have it as lock phone on AEButtonPlus for both the first press and double press. But it always requires double press to make it happen. Any ideas?

Unlock keypad is annoying... like seriously

Everytime I switch on my phone, the keypad locks up. I have to press the "Unlock" menu on the bottom left of the screen and then hit unlock again. I find this to be annoying. Any way to get rid of this?
Thanks a million.
Go to START -> SETTINGS -> PERSONAL -> TODAY -> ITEMS and uncheck "Device Lock" I believe if you don't have it as an item on your today screen, it won't boot up. However, don't take my word for it 100% , I never had this problem.

Take a look at your installed programms
Battery Status Includes such an auto keylock
This is why this community is awesome!!
I've been trying to figure this out for days! Thanks a million. It worked!!!!
I ran into this same problem i was about to do something unholy to it! So yes check the battery status plug in..LOL
I use S2U2 for a keyboard lock.. It's nice and pretty, and has some nice previews of upcoming appointments, etc, but it's pretty heavy on ram. But I haven't seen anything as quick to unlock.
CSDEVCTRL by chrisstavrou is a great locking program. It is excellent for in-call locking and temporary unlocking during the call. It locks ALL buttons during a call, unlike many other lockers, so that when you're on a call and your phone is in your holster or pocket, it doesn't hang up by accident.
It has three different ways to unlock the screen: a tapping sequence, slide-to-unlock, and a button sequence. The slide and tap features can also be set to do up to four different things, such as slide-to-unlock, slide-to-hang-up, slide-to-open-speaker, slide-to-go-to-today.
It also offers many small bonuses, like a simple call blocker, bluetooth tweaks, backlight tweaks, and carrier name tweaks.

It's not like S2U2 in the sense that it doesn't have any sort of screen saver or visible skin. When I look at my phone, I see the same thing whether or not it is locked (I use SPB Mobile Shell 2.1, so I see the "Now" screen.)
Just go to the link I posted earlier, and you'll find all the info there!
