3D graphics processor? - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

On Wiki there is talking about a "3D graphics processor" on the Diamond but can't fiind any specs. Is there a real 3D GPU? What kind of 3D graphics processor is on the Diamond and how programs can use it?

Read the stickies =)

Use "Seach" interface! (Google and XDA-Developers), I found a **** load of matches! ;P

Poor Gameplay with 2d games

Hi,
Has anyone else experienced poor/jerky gameplay with kaiser?
Seems to run fine for everything else but has trouble with the following games:
VT Pocket Tennis (old i know).
Pool Rebel
Seems slightly sluggish (although acceptable) with some of the other games in comparison to my tytn.
Can anyone make any suggestions for tweaks/tests?
Thanks

if they are old games that could be the reason why, it doesn have support for GDI i think it is. have you tryed any emulators? GBA for example?
www.sunbug.net
Thanks for the speedy reply!
Pool Rebel is a new release but is still very sluggish. I have contacted their support team as it may just be that the game is not optimised for the cpu.
VT pocket tennis was designed for PPC2002! Used to work very well on my TYTN but is virtually unplayable on TYTN II.
Will I be able to use the emulator on games designed for PPC?
I'm not sure what is the problem, but I can comfirm that the graphic chipset integrated in MSM7200 is one of ATI Imageon product.

from the data sheet, the performance should be said as good, so perhaps the new graphic chipset is not supported?
Maybe HTC has disabled most of the Video chipset functionality, they have a habit of disabling everything before launch! *Shakes fist*
It does also look like the graphic chipset has 3d hardware support but so far you cant take adventage of it with direct3d because it only has referance drivers which doesnt use any of the hardware. But once HTC releases drivers that take advantage of this hardware it should be one kick butt gaming device...

Just imagine the Touchflo cube interface with D3D. Mmm.
wow, page 5, what game is that???

looks so cool for a ppc game!
I just got my kaiser, upgraded from a 200 mhz prophet, big difference everywhere except gaming. I have pocketSNES a Super nintendo emulator, and it runs OK, but when you play with sound it lags quite a bit. I thought this device was suppposed to have pretty good graphics??
Some benchmarks
TyTn 2 graphic is slower than HTC Mogul

TyTn 2 graphic is the fastest

this is not because it has poor graphics or has trouble playing it, it's cause PocketSnes hasnt been updated in such a long time it doesnt even support the phone completely or support teh GFX driver. however, have you tried Morphgear?
http://soft.softoogle.com/ap/morphgear-download-5321.shtml
Yeah, I tried pool rebel too ... and damn, it is so slow
Any reply from their support?
Btw, any good game for this Kaiser? The one that is nice and fast.
Support have replied. They will be adding Direct X support for the game in future release although have not specified when. That should hopefully improve performance. I have tried the following games and they work well:
Flux Challenge
Sky Force
Sky Force Reloaded
Resco Guardians
Anthelion 2
Argentum
Explode Arena
KRally
Snails
SPB AirIslands
Stolen In 60 Seconds
Cheers

GPU procedural graphics

as stated in the title.. what does that term means?
its associated with the htc diamond
recently am looking at games like call of duty and tony hawk proskater 2, both having 3d graphics that are able to use the GPU on board the Pocket pc..
but does the diamond truly has GPU? is it powerful? and does it enhance 3d gaming performances?
i tried call of duty2.. its not really pretty... i do rmb installing the hardware accelerated copy of COD2

!Diamond and GPU!

Hi, so, after about 3.5 months of researching HTC Diamond, does anybody know what is with Diamond GPU? Some info? Like how many VRAM has it? I read somewhre that Diamond has 16MB VRAM, on other site that Diamond has 64 MB VRAM. And the second, why is Diamond GPU so "bad"? theoretically, it must be fast, but games like Quake can run only about 4 FPS, while VGA Dell Axim x50v, about 4 years old PPC can run it about 25 FPS? Yes, I know, Axim has 2700G from Intel, BUT, 7201A chipset is brand new, so I dont believe that its GPU is so bad.
do those older PPC games run on a GPU? or right off of the phones CPU?
I remember when I ran rocket elite on my easio e125 it ran wonderfully. I think that had a mips 150mhz in it. On my next device, the toshiba e330 with a 208mhz cpu it ran WAY worse. Maybe it was the ram, or cpu, I dont know, but I know some of the games written for older devices seem to run terribly on the newer ones.
Hmm, one example - Quake 3 - Diamond 0-4 FPS, Axim x50v 25-30 FPS - technology - open GL ES. Diamond should have Open GL ES 1.1 HW Accelerated.

Graphics Performance (Is it really that bad?)

Hello!
I am thinking about buying a htc diamond but i am concerned with what i read about graphic performance of this device. Is it really that bad? I would like to play some games on it (among other things). Does it have problems handlig common games or its just few games that do not run smoothly? I would sacrifice some really demanding games but if it is more serious than that ,it is an issue I can't overcome.
First of all, the Diamond isn't a dedicated multimedia device so you cannot expect stunning graphics from it's video chipset. Sure, you can find alot of nice 3D games around that work great on the Diamond, some with some tweaks here and there ( Flux Challenge, COD 2, Quake, Anthelion, etc. ), but that really depends on your expectations. Those "demanding games" you mentioned don't shed any light on the situation. Please be more specific!
I dont intend to use it as a gaming as a gaming platform but struggling to find a game hat will run smoothly won't make me happy. Is it just a small number of games that diamond will have problems with or is it a majority? (I am not a windows mobile user yet and so i am not familiar with its games)
The Diamond should handle pretty much any Pocket PC game you throw at it.

The HTC Touch Diamond can handle any PPC game.
Do u know that in Diamond there is an AMD Imageon 3D Hardware chip?
Search in the forum, there's a D3D driver for handling all D3D hardware requests.
That thing will infinitely speed up D3D Hardware rendering.

Xperia graphics capability

Found the datasheet on MSM7200A, would be pleased if any of you guys check it and compare it to iPhone graphics chip
Xperia proccessor MSM7200A, with integrated graphics chip
iPhone graphics chip PowerVR MBX-Lite (Sorry no datasheet)
Since the most popular (because of its app store, games quantity) is iPhone,
And I must say iPhone games are really superb for a graphics aspect, imo best graphics in mobile phones/pda/smartphones field. (like Sims 3, NFS Undercover), I wonder if Xperia could do the same.
In GSM arena, I discovered that iPhone graphics chip is Powervr MBX-Lite (On iPhone & iPhone 3G), featuring OpenGL ES 1.1, OpenVG 1.0, Direct3D and of course full 2D/3D support, which, compared MSM7200A integrated ATi accelaration, well, really Im not a Pro out here, so I've just found a Datasheet on this.
Not to tell about the WM gaming industry, which is ermm "....", but the fact, hope, that we could have this...
Now we have almost everything - itje, who dedicated very much to xda (his roms, other deeds are priceless) ((ofcourse his Touch-IT testing team, who not only answer touch-it related questions but is active like everyhwere)) other Rom and active app's/ xda contributors like gtrab, smaberg, jackleung,Tnyynt, fingerkeyboard makers, HTC encoder makers, other guys, fixing our phone bugs, creating soft for us,moderators... I could go on and on
naming these great people, who raised up our xperia from stock to almost perfection.
So only issue is...(for me ) gaming.
Heard that EA, gameloft are porting iPhone games to newer WM devices, but, I dont think that these sources are...well...realistic.

Been looking in forums, web, to be precise, everywhere, even Xperia X1 White Paper, but Still havent got clarified answer on what Graphics chip does Xperia use. So I made several assumptions, by checking the information a little bit.
As common answer is Xperia uses ATI Imageon 2700, in Wikipedia there's no such chip number as "2700", also, Products with Imageon well, there's no xperia!
Imo, variants Xperia graphics chip is "Imageon 2388/2380" or "Imageon 2300" (If its even Imageon) , just need you guys to clarify this.
Just why I am making this thread - since Xperia is very versatile, like music/internet/messaging/videos with qwerty and etc. the only problem (for me), well, not as a problem, but as a shortage - gaming.
We have ScuMMM, sNes, sega, even PSX emu's, and maybe one game, who shows what Xperia is capable of - Xtrakt.

My target is to clarify Xperia graphics potential, know full information about graphics chip
P.S. Yes I've searched xda/google for this like crazy. Sorry for this thread to go as a poem.
P.S.S. Yes Xperia is business class phone, but hey, why not to dream? It still has got one of the best HW on WM devices around.

Could you maybe find out by taking the x1 apart and looking at all of the chips? I looked at some videos online but couldnt see the names on any chips - not sure if it would even say but it seems as if it could work - i looked around a bit too and i keep hearing about the Imageon 2300 but i cant confirm it sorry
the ati part is not a chip it's intergrated into the qualcomm cpu

more info
Well its not the 2300, here a quote from ati "Imageon 2300 integrates an advanced 2D and 3D graphics engine, MPEG-4 video decoder, JPEG encoding/decoding, and a 2 Mega pixel camera sub-system processing engine. With support for up to 2MB of ultra low-power SDRAM, it "
link:http://ati.amd.com/products/imageon2300/
since we have (being said) 128 mb shared ram and ive also read some where in some sheet that we have an tuned up gpu. (this is all speculative tho)
and why do the touch pro have 288 and we 256 ram? do we have a better gpu needing more ram ?
Updated the post, please check, now only we need guys to compare both phones graphics capability.

Seems like SE/HTC made some kind of adjustment with these GPU on xperia's MSM7200A, wondering what, so your guessing might be right about better xperia's gpu, or its just that touch pro's all interface/oem/os modifications are more "hungry" for ram.
Just for curiosity, new released iPhone 3GS has PowerVR SGX535 graphics, also SE iDou has same chip from SGX family (530 one), so we can expect awesome graphics, chip's techinical capabilities are very big:
# next generation fully programmable universal scalable shader architecture
# exceeding requirements of OpenGL 2.0 and up to DirectX 10.1 Shader Model 4.1
Just that 3GS's chip will be better than iDou's (535 - 28MPolys/s , 530 - 14 MPolys/s)
soo..... where can we find an D3D drivers for X1i?
