Guys,
New user - very impressed, found lots of good stuff here - hoping someone can help with this one:
I have had my Vodafone Touch Diamond for just over a month - very nice phone, awful speed!!! I hate the Vodafone default theme, so I had installed the default black one that I found here - very nice looking theme!!
Now I have just upgraded to the 1.93 Vodafone ROM, and the phone finally runs at a half-decent pace - problem is the nasty Vodafone them is back. I then re-installed the old black theme I had, and it has slowed the phone right down again (in fact slower than it was on the old ROM, and some graphics weren't as good) - it looks like the 1.93 ROM has a newer version of Touchflo (or is it the theme?). Basically, the phone, on the settings screen, says it is running Touchflo 3D version 1.1.34574.1_1630.38. It clearly is different, as the animation is less, and there are subtle changes (alphabetical index when selecting country or town in Weather, for example).
I would rather have the newer TouchFlo (the losses in animation are worth it for good performance).
So the question - anyone know where I can get the updated black Touchflo software for the 1.93 ROM? I appreciate I could flash a non-voda ROM into the phone, but would rather not - don't want to lose my Voda sat-nav, for instance.
Any thoughts would be much appreciated, guys.
Thanks
Paul
Hi Paul From Swindon,
I'm Nathan From Oxford lol....oh the hatred (football Terms)
I'm using the vodafone ROM and i installed this great Diamond TF3D Config Tool.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=405749
I then also got the Black Diamond Theme, can't remember the link for that and saved it to my internal storage.
I then used the Config tool to install the black theme.
Its fairly quick and keeps the extras like sat nav etc.
I did try installing the new HTC ROM however it DID like you say removed all the settings and the vodafone extras. so it took me about an hour to find and install the Vodafone one again.
Annoying!
Also in Oxford
hi guys, Ralf here also in Oxford. I've had my Diamond for about the same time and been playing with some of the tweaks to try and speed it up. Interestingly I bumped into a guy in Carphonewarehouse the other day who was the Microsoft Trainer for the Diamond. He was great and spent about 20 mins showing me around some areas of the phone. The unit he was running was not Vodafone branded and was so amazingly quick. I've managed to up the speed a bit but it's still slow in comparison to the unit I saw the MS guy with.
To be honest I've been very wary of trying one of the other ROM upgrades as I don't want to brick my handset or loose the Vodafone Sat Nav etc.
I just looked and my handset is on ROM 1.37.161.2 dated 26/6/08.
Can you please point me in the direction of where you got the latest Vodfone ROM from and how easy it to apply it (I should also add that I'm using a Mac not a PC so if there is some PC based tool then I'll have a small problem using it).
Thanks
Ralf
heres the link for the official vodafone ROM update LINK
its a piece of cake to install, but not sure about using a mac!
just a quick thought about the vodafone sat nav;
once you've clicked through the initial link, it just downloads a cab (installation) file,
which is easy enough to find and copy through active sync onto your computer for safe keeping.
Thanks
Cheers for the info and link there, I managed to download the installer and am just waiting now until the new PC laptop I ordered for my wife arrives at the weekend so that I can give it a go.
Thanks
Ralf
In Finland here. I want to use the official ROM as well, but my provider doesn't have one available, and the HTC Europe site tells me that the ROM updater is not for my device.
Sorry, this software download is not suitable for your device.
I am a registered e-club member, with the serial number registered. How can I get the ROM properly? Or if I install this one from Vodafone, will it affect my phone somehow?

Hi Nwilko,
Did you have to install HardSPL before flashing original HTC rom?
Hi Guys,
Thanks for your thoughts so far - sorry, been off-line all week.
Nathan, thanks for your thoughts - this is what I tried doing, but when I installed the defalt black theme from this site via the config tool, it went incredibly slowly, and lost some of the new features in the TouchFlo system, such as alphabetical indexes on the weather, and seemed to return some of the aminations that had been taken out - it was taking up to 5 seconds to scrol between main screens, much worse than before - I also noticed I couldn't read some of the text.
I guess what I could do with is the Touchflo software from the 1.93 ROM update. It, I assume, exists as a cab that installs when you first switch on a non-branded phone after a ROM update. I am guessing that default one already comes with the black theme, and has the speed and menu improvements.
I have tried to live with the Voda theme for the last week, but there is no getting away from the fact that it looks terrible. The whole phone just looks so good when the black theme is applied.
I am tempted just to try and install the HTC ROM and scrap my Voda one. I really didn't want to lose Sat-Nav - I agree the link on the Voda ROM just downloads a Cab file, but I am worried it won't activate - does something in the ROM tell it that ot's on a free subscription, or does the website activate it from the mobile number - I don't want to pay 4.99 per month for it! Anyone tried it?
Thanks
Paul
Guys,
Gave up on trying to get a newer black theme for my Vodafone TD. Bit the bullet, and installed Hard-SPL, and the latest factory ROM (thanks in large part to the exceellent info on this site!).
So far all looks good - nice and quick, lovely black theme once more, nice speed, and newer radio ROM too (the new Voda Rom still had older radio version).
Fingers crossed, it seems much better - and because I kept the Vodafone Sat-Nav CAB file, re-installed it and it seems to work fine!!
Coolio!!

hi guys,
i'm not sure if anyone has posted this but here I go...
has anyone tried using the XDA IIS rom upgrade of June 2005 posted at O2 website? I'm about to try it but I'm afraid to do it since there might be bugs on it.
would like to ask you guys if it's ok to upgrade to this ROM. Currently, my ROM is 1.12.62 WWE. As much as possible, I'm settling for O2 official releases but I just wanna make sure if this one's ok.
cheers!
Currently i'm using the latest update o2 Asia and so far it works really good except a little problem that i found with the camera that makes the brightness set to maximum. And also the HTC caller ID problem [ringtone and picture display doesn't work].
Overall, it runs smoothly.
I hope this helps.
does this mean that currently you don't have caller ID display and ringtone on your IIs?
cheers!
sometimes it's on and sometimes it's off, when it's off i rerun the caller id from the startup directory, or you can install 3rd party software like photo contacts.
Is this ROM ok to load onto a UK XDA IIs? Has anyone done this?
IIs user from Philippines
I flashed my IIs with the new official ROM.
I find it more stable than the old ROM plus other new features like WMPver.10. Well worth the upgrade. I could view videos of websites (eg.INQ7) which under the OLD ROM I cannot.
After the ROM and Radio Update, I uninstalled the O2Plus. I didnt noticed any increase in stability or speed after unistalling it though.
I also updated the Radio ROM to Ver.1.13 which I got from WIKI.xda-developers.com.
BTW, I got my IIs from Globe. I still retain the GPRS setting plus gain a new GPRS setting for my SUN SIM. ALSO, I use a DUAL SIM Adaptor which I bought from 3rd Glorietta Cell Stall. There is also GPRS Setting for SMART just in case you got yours from there.
You could also install the O2 II Plus, GPRS Counter and ZIP Manager from official O2 site. I dont use it as it slows down the IIs. I tried yesterday DKToday2.8 but it slows down a bit the IIs.
Only the following softwares are now installed (IIs is very stable and quick):
PshutXP
CorePlayer
Agile Mobile
Avantgo
ChessPPC
Skype
WordNet (dictionary)
In the Green Theme
Cai, Go ahead you will not go wrong. PM if you need help.
OVERALL, I AM VERY HAPPY WITH THE UPDATE.
thanks xcalibur! this is great news. I've really needed people's idea on the new rom of O2 before installing it, especially philippine users. I got mine from globe too...i'll try this then....
cheers!
O2 June 2005 version
I loaded the latest O2 Asia version recently. I was, too, apprehensive about bugs and the like. However, I haven't found anything but improvement in my XDA IIs performance up to now. I would recommend it.
I've been using the new O2 ROM since its release and I think it's garbage.
Slightly more rleiable than the previous version but my phone still requires resetting 3 times a day due to hang ups, freezing, crashing when trying to switch to landscape and so on.
If you intend to upgrade the radio to 1.13 then, use asia apparently i have done some testing. Tried o2uk,imate,qtek and once u upgrade the 1.13 for their rom, it causes the device to lag terribly. I would suggest you to do the upgrade to the ASIA version if you are intending to upgrade to 1.13 radio
else, i think any of the rest should be ok..
ASIA 1.40.923 WWE
I concur. The Asia WWE with the 1.13 is working well for me. Still have some problems with bluetooth out of memory and not being able to access BT manager, but over all the best combo I have used. Battery life seems much improved and switching between GPRS and Wi-Fi works very well on this ROM combo. Using in conjunction with phone Alarm (1.13] and AlarmToday. Auto profile switching and wake to music, all working well..
june update ???
am i being a bit thick ???
the only version i can see for download on the O2 uk site is the february update. Can someone supply a link straight to the download ???
swerver
That's the latest official one from O2 UK, but most of the other providers have already released their 1.40 versions, which are all available on the wiki site: www.wiki.xda-developers.com

June Update ???
At the top of this thread it says that the O2 site has the june update, he didnt mention WIKI site ????
Just tried the link you gave and it gave an error ???
swerver
I believe that the first poster is probably taling about the O2 Asia ROM that is on the O2 Asia site. As far as I know, O2 UK have not released their new 1.40 version yet.
The link I posted should have taken you to the companion site to this one, where all the various ROMs and upgrade tools are posted. Are you familiar with the wiki site¿ There is a direct link to it in the header of this thread I believe. Let me know if you have problems finding it.

Chris
hi guys,
i've seen the ROM upgrade from O2 asia site. It's found in www.seeo2.com.

Asian Rom upgrade 1.40 for Xda IIs
I really must be thick, but I cannot find the actual file to download. I am registered at seeo2.com, get to the instructions page on how to install it but somehow miss the actual link to install it! Can anyone help me with the actual download link or another site to download the file
Thanks Guys
Hi Smithy
There is a link at the top of this page to, www.wiki.xda-developers.com
Navigate there and follow the links to Blue Angel. All the shipped ROMS are posted on that site, plus the 1.13 radio, which I do not think is part of the original O2Asia ROM. I believe it only had 1.12
The site also has comprehensibe instructions on how to upgrade. Let us know if you get stuck.

I've recently upgraded my XDA IIs' ROM to the June 2005 version (1.40 something). The note on the O2 website indicates that we can set mp3 ringtones already. Here are my findings:
1) Under Phone in Settings/Personal, it still doesn't have the option of setting mp3s as ringtone, it seems to be looking for .wav files only.
2) The Photo Contacts that came with the phone has the option of choosing mp3s, it can even preview the file, but whenever I try dialling my phone using my friend's, it goes back to default, not just the default I have setup in Settings/Personal/Phone, it uses the Windows Default tone. How come? Can anyone shed some light on this one?
3) Are there any battle tested programs/apps out there which can activate the mp3 ringtones feature the new ROM promised, and that works with XDA IIs? Help! :?
Hi Yaozer
I have not seen where you can set a MP3 as a ringtone... The only files mine sees are .wav, wma and midi. I use phoneAlarm by PocketMax (www.pocketmax.net), which does allow you to set a wake up alarm that activates a MP3 file. The file has to be in main storage I believe. Activating one a a ringtone may be in a forthcoming version.

I'll think you'll find there is something encoded into the o2 standard ROM to prevent this working. I got the same thing when trying to install GPRS monitor (comes free on the o2 apps CD). I was trying to install the older version that I'd had on my HTC Universal (o2 Executive) since WM5 days so it can't be that the ROM is out of date since it worked on a 2+ year old ROM and later a WM6 ROM from the Universal section. Once I tried installing the GPRS monitor that came with the Stellar it was fine (same program wierdly, not sure about the version number).
Not sure if this helps in any way, but o2 may have got something on their ROM that prevents certain programs from loading, since they are pushing Co-Pilot it may be that they don't want you loading up TomTom. If you think this shouldn't be the case, just look at the way most Nokia's don't play well with other manufacturers bluetooth equipment, Nokia went and made the open bluetooth standard kinda proprietary, so why not o2 with their entire OS?!
I got TomTom to work, I think it as 6.030 rather than 6.032...will play around with it...but it does wor.
Anyway I had to do a hard reset and that package now says wrong ROM servsion or some thing.
Also, there are 3 icon on the bottom right hand corner, is this that taskbar?
If so does anyone know how to remove it or maybe add more icons to it?
thanks
hi i have sort of got the tom tom to work the application opens ok, but it cant find a sat, signal. has anyone any ideas

Yes it's the task bar. I have no idea how to remove it ( I did this once with my old HTC phone and do you think I can find the instructions on this site as to how to do it?! ). If you search on HTC home or HTC homeplug, it should give you loads of posts about how people have added more to it. Personally I want rid just to get the extra screen space, so if you find out, please share!
For the GPS thing, make sure you are either outside, or near a window, it can take a while for that first fix. Is there a GPS status page on TomTom? If so, are you getting a signal from the GPS, just no satalite lock, or not even getting a signal?
Well... after doing some reading and watching a couple of you tube videos on the diamond I decided to have a play. I picked up a new boxed locked to orange uk htc diamond from fleabay for £160 inc postage... bargain I thought.
Things I've already done..
The first thing was to get it unlocked so I can use my O2 sim in it. This cost £14 via a site on here.. donation I believe goes to this site. I did download some unlocks via torrents and newgroups but at £14 (15 euros) and knowing the moneys going to someone who deserves it.. I decided to pay + its very simple and straightforward to do. Within 5 minutes I had a working phone on O2 ;-) Huzzah!
Then I sync'd it to my outlook that my iphone uses so I then had a full copy of my current contact's. I have added my email on imap4 to sync every 5 minutes.
Software wise I downloaded tomtom 7.910.9185 VGA Black and some Western Europe 1GB 815.2024 maps and 'got' them working (I already own 3 tomtom devices so I figured they have already had enough money off me for now). uploaded the latest uk speedcam files which I pay for from pocket thingy site and postcodes for good measure. Just tried it on the way to work and got a lock in under a minute which is very acceptable. This is a big plus in my eye's for the HTC over the iphone.. anyway.
Speed improvements - I then found some posts and a little you tube video on how to speed up the touchflo. There were three things you do in your settings (disable beams / disable quick menu on today screen and something else). I then downloaded the advanced config software from here and adjusted my memory cache / filter .. WOW what a difference doing this made.. major improvements !
So then whats next ? I used to use facebook alot and share prices so need to find some apps for them.. but I really can't believe I'm thinking about giving up my iphone...
Are there any apps or things that you could recommend to improve this phone anymore ?
Steve
Not sure if you know this but the diamond 2 has a new version of TFLO and XBOX and friends are trying to port it over to the diamond. Everyone and anyone who owns a diamond and knows about this is waiting patiently for this.....http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=486471
Before changing ROM's or Radio's a HARD SPL is required to protect your device from being bricked.

Just read as much as you can.
UDK has a facebook built in to his ROM!
there is a bbc iplayer which works well you need a copy of coreplayer to use it tho! just search for it
there are pleanty of other useful apps here
flashing a cooked ROM is better any number of tweaks on a standard ROM !
thanks fellas for the advice
I stuck on HardSPL 1.43 and decided to have a play with one of the rom's.. after lots of reading I decided to try v6.4FullHDTFl .. this rom seems to have a good following and I am very impressed with it so far.
would you say this is a good choice ?
I have also seen all the porting work being done on from the D2... looking forward to an updated rom for that.. I have noticed you can download cab files for apps from the D2 would you advise on any for my current rom ?
top forum.. been a member for 5 years.. lol really pushing my posts this year.. lol
Steve
yeah thats i how i choose my ROMs ! the ones with the most followings are usually the better (i think). i personaly am a UDK follower although i have tried almost all other roms, some of which are as good
*Second post is a quick tutorial of all the steps I did*
For the past year+ I lots of problems with my tilt. Terrible keyboard response problems, like the keyboard only working 25% of the time. The touch screen being unresponsive or slow 50% of the time. I've hated my phone. Thought it was just a piece of junk. I soft reset so much I thought the reset button was going to fail.
I tried nearly every new ROM that came out, each time after being dissapointed because my problems remained, then I'd move on to the disable xt9 cab, tilt keyboard fix cab, keyboard speed up cab (which I'm still not sure if works, since I now have my initial keyboard delay set at 0 and I don't know if I see a difference), etc. Tried the touch sensitivity registry edit, installed the (I think) x1 touch sensitivity cab. But nothing seemed to change a thing.
I had realized that most of my issues were software related because sometimes things would work fine (for a couple minutes). I've tried the press the hell out of the keyboard buttons fix that was supposed to regain contact between the key, and the sensor for the keyboard, and pretty much everything out there.
Then I recently installed the HTC ROM for the Tilt, and voila, I have a new phone, works nearly flawlessly.
Since then, I have installed Manila 2d (start with update 20, install everything included, then install the latest version) youtube/opera/google maps/audio manager/pictures etc. all work perfectly, installed the Manila2D v20 N2A patch which fixed the weather tab to show my home town, M2DC and applied a new skin, Total Commander (to move the edited weathercities file), Wstask (awesome), ATT Navigator, Windows Live (great for syncing contacts), and it works perfectly. It's fast. I can use my phone now without the struggle, and am happier than I've been in a long time.
I haven't heard anyone suggesting this so I thought I'd let everyone know. This is the phone I always wanted from my Tilt. I have to assume that the minor hardware differences between versions creates a problem with non-native ROM's, and if you are having problems I recommend trying a factory ROM made for your device, you may be pleasantly surprised.
Dustin
*edit* As I'm sure most know, there are hardware issues with the keyboard for many, this will obviously not fix those issues. However, I was able to fix the massive software issues I've had which also effected the keyboard. I still have a testy Y key, but it's not a huge issue when compared to what it was like before. My phone works great.

Flashed to the HTC ROM for the AT&T Tilt, download here:

I've been having the same issues with my tilt as well. EXTREMELY annoying. I love the tilt, but hate that it constantly lags.
Do you have a link to the ROM from HTC?
The last ROM from HTC for the tilt gave me problems
Yes please post the link as i am also having this problem.
Thanks
Link inside!
Here y'all go. It's important to note that this is ROM build 1.62.502.0 and will change your radio to 1.27.14.09. Further info can be found HERE

Different link to the Rom
Here is the link for the page HTC posted the Tilt ROM download if you would like to read first before downloading:

Hope this helps you guys. For me it was night and day. Let me know if this helps you guys.
Also, I wonder if there are any ROM cooks out there who are interested in cooking ROM's based on the Tilt ROM. That would be sweeet!!!
Dustin
*edit* I'm not sure about the ROM tmnt.mikey posted, but the link I've posted does not change the radio to that version, I flashed and have radio version 1.65.21.18. I'm not sure what radio I was using pre-flash (oops).
does this work with kaiser as well?
because at&t does not have the front camera...
so if i flash to this rom, will it render my front camera unusable?
not that it's really that important, i'd rather have my keyboard functioning well again.
other than that, is there any complication if i run this on my kaiser?
because in the HTC page, it's said... only for at&t tilt...
Kaiser ROM
I have no way to know if this ROM will work for the Kaiser, someone would have to try it out and let us know. I can't imagine it would brick the phone, but the keyboard layout is different, and the front camera thing. However, you might look for the latest Kaiser ROM from HTC then apply all the cabs you want and see if that works for you. I installed the ATT ROM, then did a soft reset before the apps were loaded to save space and clutter, then installed just the cabs I prefer.
It's been almost a week now, and it is still working perfectly. I've installed almost 20 different cabs, it is running faster, and more stable than it ever has. I love my phone now. The difference is stunning. I haven't had any issues thus far, and I've never experienced that before. I hit a button and it works, I touch the screen it works. I'm going off about it so much because I want everyone to know this phone is not a lost cause. I'm still a little in shock how well it works. I had written it off, and thought between HTC, and Microsoft that this phone was just going to remain a glitchy pain in the rear. My phone was so difficult to use that I almost stopped texting all together. I was practically marking off each day on the calendar waiting for the remaining year of my contract to run out.

i actually followed the link from dustintm...
but the download was not for my area (i'm in singapore)
and you can't download it anyways...
you need to key in your serial number...
and it has to match the region...
so if that really fixed the keyboard problem...
congrats to those guys in the same region as dustintm...
as for why it happened, i also don't know...
i read in some other thread that it's unlikely if it's dust or the rubber...
i also think it has to do with the ROM, since some days my 'a' keys works fine...
Asian TyTN II ROM
Hey Jonathan,
Here is the link to the HTC Asia download page for the TyTN II:
http://www.htc.com/au/supportdownloadlist.aspx?p_id=13&act=sd&cat=all
Just so everyone knows, this ROM change I am talking about does not fix hardware related issues. I still have a testy "y" key, it works most of the time, but I do have to press it harder at times.
Prior to my find, I was having massive keyboard problems, sluggishness, having to press each key multiple times, etc. I was also having similar problems with the touch screen too.
This will not fix a hardware issue (obviously?). But I've found the new factory ROM has made my phone operate almost without flaw... for the first time. Responsive, stable and consistent. I can deal with the "y", I couldn't deal the snetacnes loking lik tihs (sentances looking like this (all the time)), and all the other problems/lock ups, etc.
Dustin
Keyboard problems sound like a hardware issue. You should try to find a local cellphone store that does repairs.
There is one in L.A. that can fix this for under $50.
Keyboard Problems
I found that I was experiencing hardware (keyboard), AND software related issues (keyboard, touch screen, sluggishness, and lock-ups). After installing this ROM all software issues have disappeared. I am very certain of this. One example is that occasionally the keyboard would work almost flawlessly (with the exception of the y key) and other times it was a complete struggle, multiple keypresses to register once, delay, etc. That made it clear to me that I was having software related issues.
I imagine it could have been ROM issues, or software related conflicts, but either way, I have solved my problems. I flashed to the latest HTC ATT Tilt ROM, and the following programs/cabs:
HTC Enchasements
HTC Audio Manager 2.0
herg62123 FSP, DShow, WMP Yo...
HTC Album 2.0

BTW Trjons thanks for your post.
be a hero post all your cabs or links
So, it is heresy you speak! Stock rom! Yeah, I too am sick of the laggy unreliable roms. WAY too much wasted time, energy and effort. Gone back to ATT even though on TMO. How about posting your cabs or links for the lazy ones of us out here?

Also, did you get rid of the AT&T bloatware on yours as well? On a quest for the perfect ROM myself, so I will keep watching the thread for more info.
Would like to see those links as well.
If you want to leave out the ATT bloat ware, after you go through the screen align, do a reset. It will fail to run the script for the **** add ons and then you have basically a virgin rom.
Cab files
Hey lazy people ! Here's a link to all my cabs:
http://rapidshare.com/files/239391014/Cab_Files.rar
I'm somewhat lazy too, so you're going to have to download all of them then pick through to get the ones you want. Enjoy!
Dustin
Thanks
Your're a hero! Thanks for the cabs
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WHOA! Virus detected "win32/virut" after extracting file then accessing folder with "glossy black bars.exe"
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hopefully I've removed the infected file.
I didn't know glossyblackbars.exe had a virus???
Don't need it anyway, I deleted it, recompressed the cab files and re-upped to rapidshare. I edited all my posts with the new zip link.
Please let me know if it's virus free now... so sorry!

Thanks so much, Dustin!!! I think I will be loading the AT&T 6.1 ROM again, following your fixes, and praying that my 2-PC ActiveSync problem somehow gets resolved along the way, too. (We need a "crossing fingers" smilie! HA!)
I'm just not looking forward to setting my Tilt up all over again. Must wait until I'm in the mood.

Hi,
i have bought a German Vodafone branded Touch Diamond 2. But i have some questions:
- There is a built-in G-Sensor, which can be calibrated, but it do nothing else. I can rotate the phone till my hands fall off, but nothing happens (i already tried some registry tweaks, i found in this forum)
- When i click on the Symbols in the Startmenu line e. g. the battery symbol, then it doensn't open the battery settings, but something called "notifications" (Benachrichtigungen).
- The Manila screen has wrong colors. White/red instead of black/white. How can i change it?
- How can i get the "HTC Audio Manager" to play the files in a folder? I want to listen to a audiobook, but it messes up the file order, which is pretty annoying.
Now, while i am writing this, i think about flashing a unbranded ROM could be simpler, right? But is this the solution i am looking for?

- Accelerometer: Are you attempting to use the g-sensor for anything in particular? Try loading up the game "Teeter" which relies on the accelerometer for moving the ball along a maze. There are few provided apps which require the accelerometer functionality, and Manila doesn't rotate by default.
- TouchFLO notifications is an addon provided by HTC. Search the forums for instructions on how to disable this functionality; I believe there are a couple of applications which will allow you to do this without manually editing registry keys etc.
- Red / White is Vodafone's brand. You may be able to install a replacement skin for Manila, it's up to you.
I'm afraid I don't use my Topaz for listening to music, so I can't help with your final issue.
Flashing an unbranded ROM may resolve the third issue, but the rest will more than likely remain. I don't see them being issues, though, just personal preference!
HTH.
Thanks for the answers!
The solution for the first and the second problem is this. If someone is wondering: The Topaz has a built in G sensor, but it is unused, mean's that no installed program is using this feature by default. Really strange from my point of view!
The third problem seem to be a little more difficult: M2DC say's that manila is not installed! And i wasn't able to find a Diamond II skin to download. Others are available. Maybe someone can give me a hint?
For the fourth problem i work around using a patched TCPMP, which looks a little outdated, but is my personal number one for media playback.

I think you will find that the sensor is used when you flip the phone over on an incoming call to mute the ringing!
That's why I never use branded ROMs (T-Mobile Germany)!
M2DC won't work 100% with new Manillas, never worked on branded or official ROMs for me.
Try latest original German HTC WM6.1 ROM Build 1.39.407.1.
I don't like WM6.1, so I use Tom's Leo R2 WM6.5 incl. very nice Manilla 2.5, which runs great with latest Radio, but it's English language.
I don't like branded ROM's too. But the german vodafone flash isn't availble yet - so i can't go back in case of warrenty issue.
