I have tested a few HTC Comm Managers(new black theme. Kaiser style) and low and behold non of them have the wifi working right. I cannot enable/disable it from the comm manager. Anybody find a real working one that does this? Even some that were claimed to be "FIXED" didn't work...
Anyone have a dump of the original also? (stock WM6)
I've got the same problem since the upgrade to WM6. Nothing works: soft-hard reset, upgrade... WLAN doesn't works (since comm manager).
me too...any solution mods?
Same problem here... The default WM6 HTC comm manager is working corectly.
anyone have a cab file of the original? incase i want to revert back to it?
You might find the fix here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=326655&highlight=wing+10+button
What's wrong with it?
I'd tried to install http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=48832&d=1188607222
And then, the following message: "Installation was unsuccessful. The program or setting cannot be installed because it does not have sufficient system p ermissions"
...
When I try to do the change in registry, a new surprise: in the registry tree, after CommManager doesn't exist "WLAN", but numbers (0,1,2,3... and in 3 there's WLAN). The change in registry: NOT WORK YET!
I've found the problem (maybe...). In folder "Connections" there's not Wi-Fi icon... what it means?

SAME THING HERE! No permission to do this! I hope this does not result in a hard reset.
OK, I finally got anew one installed. Even though I tried a fresh install after a reboot, I still couldnt get it installed. So, what I did was start commmanager, Bthen stop it in Settings > Memory > Active programs
REALLY A GENIE!!! I'll try it...
It's Ok! Now, I could installed the comm manager, but it doesn't work... What I must fix exactly?
This is exactly what I did:
- Step 1: Copy to the phone and run it.
- Step 2: (Fixing WLAN button malfunction, somehow it doesn’t work by default on Wing): **Thanks for beowulf6’s post for this fix.
Change "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \SOFTWARE \HTC \CommManager \WLAN= "Windows WLanMgr.exe " "DeviceName" = "{98C5250D-C29A-4985-AE5F-AFE5367E5006} TNETW12345"
the end of this long String is the WLAN-Adaptername of the Device.
just change in this Example "TNETW12345" into "TNETWLN1"
-Step 3: (Fixing Wi-Fi setting launch issue) **Thanks for phatman81’s post for this fix.
Change "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\HTC\CommManager\WLAN\ Default:"
\Windows\WlanMgr.exe --> \Windows\ctlpnl.exe
After all this... The WLAN icon is always off...
Nobody else has the same problem? It's incredible!! I begin to think that I've done something wrong. It has began after the upgrade to WM6... Now, I can't downgrade to WM5 because I don't have the rom WM5 original... :'(
That CommManager dosen't seem to work well. I had problems with it. I found another one that DID work though.

hi, can you please point me to where you downloaded this??
hello
i have the same problem. wifi card not run.
the problem? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=322225
i d´nt know.
anyone a idea? thanks
Do a search. You will find that you have to edit the settings in the registry for the comm manager.
I have this same problem. If anybody has a cab file of the stock tmo com manager, please post it!
Thanks in advance!
You guys...
Go into the registry and find out what the name is for the wireless adapter is. Take that information and change the adapter that is shown in the comm manager.
Thats really all there is to it.
If youre going to screw with the software, youre going to need to blood on your hands. You cant just throw stuff on the phones and expect it to work.
All right...
On my wing
\\\registry\HKLM\Software\HTC\CommManager\WLAN\<DeviceName>
{98C5250D-C29A-4985-AE5F-AFE5367E5006}\TNETTWLN1
That is the adapter for my phone, might be the same for you.
If youre using the changable comm manager you will have to change the settings for the wlan setup.
\\\registry\HKLM\Software\HTC\CommManager\WLAN\<Default>
\Windows\WrlsMgr.exe
Once again might be different for you.
Im using TouchIT 2.3 my stuff might be different.
I GOT IT

I have Tytn II with L26_Kaiser_Diamond_V5 (Hybrid 3.29.707) Rom.
Installed Calligrapher 8.6 and unable to select either writeanywhere or writepad from the SIP menu or by anyother means. In short after installing calligrapher and softresetting i am not able to use it.
Can anyone please help
Don't know if it will work or not but, you might try installing the Default_IM_WM5.cab or SipChange.cab and see if one of them will let you select it.
no success
^^ Solution -- not working
Assuming-
1. you installed with the desktop loader EXE
2. you had an active ActiveSync session and your phone was properly connected and
3. you selected to have both Write Anywhere and Write Pad SIPs selected when finalizing install to PPC
You should have entries for both in the SIP and a folder under programs with the EXEs. If you cannot find any of this you haven't properly installed the program.
Reconnect your phone and make sure you have an active Sync session, run the setup EXE from your desktop and follow the instructions that appear on your screen. (See pic)
Yes of course
The program was installed from the desktop pc and softreset was done. Both writeanywhere and writepads are installed and it is shown on the list of SIPs (when we click small arrow near the keyboard icon) but unable to select them. I am able to access the options menu of calligrapher from Start>settings>system>calligrapher.
ok now do this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=301433
Please see the image
boomermax
I had done that yesterday itself but the problem is menu showsup faster but unable to select writeanywhere or writepad.
so basically I've been no help at all...LOL
I'm sure you've uninstalled and reinstalled and have probably have redownloaded a fresh copy and tried installing that...
what happens when you select it from programs? Nothing?
Reinstalled
Reinstalled few times, when i select from programs nothing happens adn i don't know is it the problem of the L26 ROM or Windows 6.1 or the Calligrapher 8.6 --
if some one can help i will be grateful
Earlier also there was some problem without a solution for someone
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=353077
try disabling the cube if you have it. I had this problem with transcriber, worked after I disabled the cube.
NO CUBE
I don't have cube but transcriber is working perfect only i have problem with calligrapher
still probably no help
have you tried having the installer remove transcriber from SIP during install?
Yes of course
Even without transcriber calligrapher will not work.
what if you tried this sequence and substituted calligrapher for the keyboard install?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2271142&postcount=692
Phatware states calligrapher doesn't play well with third party apps that affect touch screen behavior and that is probably the problem here
not yet
^^ done without success
posted in another forum in reference to SIP troubles and Calligrapher...
"The main difference between CalliGrapher 8.6 and all previous versions is that it has been compiled with recently released Microsoft Visual Studio 2008. It is remotely possible that the new compiler has performance issues, but we have not heard anything about this and have not seen any evidence in our internal tests. The only difference that we’ve noticed when using the new development tool is that size of the compiled binary files slightly increased.
We will continue testing and will post additional information if we have any. "
Maybe trying previous version might help.
Also, taking the logic from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=398091 it might serve you to start from scratch and reload ROM then tackle this calligrapher issue then move on to loading other applications.
Partially success - Hard reset
I have done a hard reset.
installed first the calligrapher 8.6
soft reset
installed default_im_cab
changed sip through default_im_cab as writeanywhere
soft reset
Now writeanywhere is available and working in all applications except for Lexisgoo dictionary 3.1.1
Any help or suggesstions?
I've been trying to install Internet calling on my diamond, while I managed to get the VOIP working using the WM6VOIP (ftp://xda:[email protected]/Hermes/WMXL_Support_Files/WM6VoIP.CAB) cab file and SIP Config, another problem showed up. I have tried even the last WMVOIP+SipConfig CAB package with the same results
The moment I install the WM6VOIP cab, the internal GPS function goes dead - it does not work anymore. Soft reset will not fix the problem.
It took me 3 hard resets to figure what exactly was causing the trouble
I guess the WM6VOIP cab overwrites some system files and/or registry settings vital to the GPS Receiver
Is there anyone who had the same problem or anyone who tried to enable Internet Calling on HTC DIAMOND. Any solution to this?
Same here
I had the same problem. Hard reset to fix it.
Something in the VOIP installation makes the GPS invisible to any app which tries to use it. Even the QuickGPS app would not work.
Too bad...I would love to have the VOIP option..but not over GPS.
same problem here
So THAT'S why my GPS stopped working! Jeez! I think we need a new CAB of VoIP software from WM 6.1.
EDIT: Has anyone tried this one?

Nevermind. That one breaks GPS too and can't be uninstalled. *sigh*
same here... did you installed it manually or by a pack (containing sip config tool, gsm codec, bass fix and internet calling) ?
I installed the pack... and my gps died... but not on my HTC trinity.
Someone should install all the packages manually, one by one , and see how it goes.
Please post your findings.
Unfortunately I'm in the same boat :-(

But I found solution:
Rename in windows directory following files:
\Windows\dnsapi.dll
\Windows\ipdialplan.xml
\Windows\rtcdll.dll
\Windows\voipphonecanvas.dll
\Windows\ringback.wma
Delete all registry changes made by instalation which is described by author in post #66 in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=401608&page=7, reset diamond and if you want you can delete now files which was renamed in previus step.
After that go to settings->System->External GPS->Access and remove tick from "Manage GPS automatically". After that confirm with OK and go one more time in the same place and turn it on "Manage GPS automatically". I'm not sure that this change are nessesary, but now I have working GPS whitout hard reset.

Hi,
I bought a Diamond 2 weeks ago in French (v1.37.406.1 FRE) and I started to install .cab applications.
I tried to install :
S2U2 (1.05)
S2V
ESET NOD32 (on official site for PPC)
PHM
psshutxp
Advanced config (the link of XDA)
CorePlayer
none have been installed. The error message is :
The installation of "the_cab" has failed
Click to collapse
So I do an Hard Reset and I was able to install :
S2U2 (but not the link of XDA)
S2V
PHM (not in the official website)
psshutxp
Advanced config (not the link of XDA)
but not CorePlayer and ESET
So I do an Hard Reset again but after nothing works
I do 2 Hard Reset again and I flashed my original french rom for the french rom in this topic : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2344831&postcount=42
the original.
And doesn't work
Where is the problem ?
Thx
nobody ??!?
You sure you have enough free memory to install those programs??.
I have same problem... have several programs that just dont get installed for unknown reason and it is even I chose flashcard also...
try updating ROMs, 1.37 is nutoriously slow anyway so that would definately help in terms of speed, and maybe its a bug on your ROM and you'll kill two birds with one stone, worth a try seeing as you've hard reset and lost your data anyway
I just uploaded all the apps using ActiveSync and it all works... Can someone explain why with USB drive it will copy but not work as it should?
Can we test it somehow?
Did you still have the Diamond connected to PC and acting as a Hard drive if so there was your problem. When it is connected as a hard drive the Diamond will not see the WM device therefore when you are trying to install the program(Cab File) will not be able to install its reg settings to windows. I always disconnect my Diamond from PC after transferring Cab.

No no... sure I run CAB from the phone after I disconnected... I just upladed this via USB drive and it was making errors (just not working) but If I did same via ActiveSync it is working.
Can you explain this?
Yes, probably topic #1000 about this. But PLEASE keep reading.
I got the famous WM6 bug/error/whatever.
Symptoms:
- Access is denied error message when trying to copy files to the phone using ActiveSync.
- Access is denied error message when trying to delete any files or copy files between folders and/or the storage card on the phone.
- You do not have permission to download that type of file in Internet Explorer when trying to download any files.
- No programs show up in Remove Programs.
- Installation Unsuccessful error messages when trying to install any applications.
- ActiveSync will fail with an error message that you should start the troubleshooter.
It might have something to do with F-Secure I installed, and tried to uninstall (which ofcourse is impossible, since no programs show up in my installed programs/delete programs list). However, tons of ppl have had the same problem before so it has probably have nothing to do with F-Secure.
Now about the famous fix (which can be found for example here).
It's not working for me. Yes I tried this fix like 10 times, exactly like its written, sometimes a bit different, not using bold but Italic etc etc. I find #12 an inconsitency for example, since shutting it down and THEN doing a soft reset doesnt make any sense to me. Anyway I did like it said, and I still have all the problems I've had before.
My question: is there anyone that has had this bug before and DID fix it, or is there anyone that knows how to fix it after all? Or, last but not least, is there someone willing to rewrite the fix in uber noobish language, step by step, that might help me fix this. I'm quite desperate and totally not looking forward to hard reset my device. Thnx in advance
Some device information:
ROM Version: 1.93.404.1 NLD
ROM Datum: 07/10/08
Radioversion: 1.00.25.05
Protocolversion: 52.29.25.12H
Dutch provider Hi
No new roms installed, flashed stuff nothing. Just tweaks and programs installed.
I'm wondering if I should leave it like it is now and be patient for replys, or move/recreate this topic somewhere more "windows mobile"-like, since it might have something to do with the OS itself, and not just my kind of mobilephone ...
Sorry to hear your problem. I'd came across the problem once and YES the fix doesn't cure all the problem.
Luckily i've backup my PDA using sprite before the problem starts. What i did: 1) Hard reset the device. It will CLEAR ALL the memory and restore to factory default.
2) Reapply my first backup. (if you have it, if not, just reinstall everything). Remember though your backup in activesync might not be sync again! - that what happen to me. Luckily i have a copy in my Hermes.
3) My PDA is back to normal!
4) Careful when you modding your PDA. Just don't get mad to those that tries to help, some might not work on your device depends on what ROM you're/they're using. If anything goes wrong, just accept the fact that its your fault and -ALWAYS- have a backup ready. Just Hard Reset.
And I'm sure you're familiar with the lack-of-a-backup-till-I-need-it thingy ... I'll go mayhem on MSWM if I'm losing my photos and texts ... Contacts I can copy or just rewrite, but damn, my photos :s Thnx for the reply tho.
If you keep it synced with your computer/outlook, there shouldn't be much of a problem.
Ever since my first WM device, I've kept a list of all changed settings, etc. A hard reset isn't really that big of a deal. You do it, reinstall a few apps you had, change some settings from the cheat sheet you keep, sync with outlook, and you're good to go.
Think of your Diamond as a slave device to your regular PC. Sure, you apply a few tweaks to it, but other than that all your data should be on your PC.
Yeah and foto's and text messages and contacts ?? All gone, hard reset not that much of a deal I find it quite frustrating =(
