disable word completion please - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

Hi,
is there any registry value i can change to disable the word completion on standard keyboard. it annoys me a lot coz the screen is small enough already don't want that extra line.
I tried into the input setting and untick the word completion, t9..... everything, but it just still there!!!
Thankx in advance

yeah would love to know too

Same here
Same problem here! It's the most annoying thing ever. I can barely write a SMS. Even with the keyboard (I own a Raphael!) the same thing happens. I disabled everything but...

For me disabling works when switching T9 off in one of HTC´s keyboard......then with the standard keyboard I also have T9 disabled.....(Stock HTC 1.37 German ROM).

I had to make sure that all of my settings for the standard keyboard were not selected (even the greyed out ones like "Add a space after word") before the annoyance stopped.

Just see!

Keyboard Questions

Hey Guys,
Few Keyboard questions:
1) How do you set PCM Keyboard as a default keyboard to pop up.
2) How do you disable PCM Keyboard from poping up when you have the Kaiser in the slid open position (actual keyboard exposed)?
Thanks
Dmitriy
1-Search for sipchanger.cab, it allows setting the default keyboard, even thru a soft reset.
2-don't know
#2- you have to turn ClearType off in landscape mode. You probably did a tweak that turned that on.
Save you the trouble of searching. I use PocketCM Keyboard too and when i start typing on the qwerty keyboard, PocketCM just hides away on it's own.

I do have it off. I use KaiserTweak and its off by Default
Am I logical when I feel that there is almost no need to install a whole program to set for example PocketCM as my default CM when just tapping PCM on the popup menu is enough, at least till the next restart.
Installing another program is just something I have to worry about that may need either updating, takes up memory, may get corrupt, adds weight.

Nope, your logic is sound. I weigh the size of the app's memory footprint and the benifit it provides. Sip Changer is tiny and seems invisible and does a great job of keeping the keyboard you want always correct even after a reset. So I merrily add these great little apps till I kill the phone, then start over But in reality I've got a first run TyTN II and have yet to need a hard reset and I have several "must have" apps running without issue.
It's a Pocket PC and as such is made to be tweaked and far as I know, this is a forum of tweakers for tweakers.

Stop screen keyboard from opening automatically

Argh! its one of those annoyances that pisses me off lol.
Every time I enter a text field screen keyboard pops up covering half of the screen.
How do I stop it? I want it to open only when I click on it.
..........
Out of curiosity, are you using the standard keyboard or Pocket CM, resco ect?
Standard, the one that comes with Dutty's v4. It has a Touch skin, but I think it's standard keyboard.
If there's an answer somewhere - please point me in the right direction.. I searched and didn't find anything (it's kinda hard to phrase this one)
Sorry. Don’t have any answers for you. I was asking just to keejp note just in case a similar problem occurred with my Kaiser. I have an original non flashed rom by the way, so it probably won’t be a problem with me.

Yes you will.
It's not a bug, it's a feature.. and it comes standard with every ROM I've seen (WM5+). Most people won't have a problem with it, but if I type something, I use hardware keyboard.. so on-screen keyboard pop-up is useless for me.
ummm... well it hasn't been a problem with any of the two MDA touch's, MDA vario II, or two MDA Vario III's I've had in the last few months... Fingers crossed it'll stay that way....
I would also like to see a solution
I vaguely remember a blank-sip or none-sip program exactly for this purpose. You could make it the default. Maybe PHM made it, try searching on the web.
I like the option of using the SIP sometimes, but most of the time I don't want it. It seems like once you use it once, it thinks you want it all the time, until you use the hardware keyboard again. How hard would it be to just let me click on it when I want it. Jeez!
a blank SIP is an option in this free program: http://www.phm.lu/products/PocketPC/PowerToys/
Blank SIP is a solution, but not a very good one. When I do want to use screen keyboard, I'd have to snipe that little arrow to open SIP selection, then find what I want and click it. Wait for it to load...
It'd be easier if it just wouldn't pop-up when cursor is in the text field. There's probably a setting somewhere..
Try this....

Try these registry settings that worked for me. When I used to open a new document with ms word or go to the address bar in PIE the sip used to pop up but not after applying these settings. After import .reg file or changing them manually you will need to soft-reset.
It now only pops up when i select rename file in resco explorer. But I can live with that.
Hope this helps...

Some programs call it automatically. It's the way they're coded. I would think there wouldn't be a way to suppress the on-screen keyboard without disabling it entirely.

The only other way to do this is to go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sip and change "AllowChange" from 1 to 0 and then soft-reset. However as you say this will disable it fullstop. So the only way you could enter info is either at the dialer (to call someone) or by using the slide out keyboard. To re-activate change the 0 back to a 1 at the above registry key.

Word Completion does not work!

Hi there, i use the block recognizer a lot to compose SMS messages and on my old touch the word completion feature worked like a charm. However, no matter what settings i use on the diamond (e.g. suggest 3 words after 1 letter etc.etc.) this feature doesn't come up!!
Does anyone have the same issue, and any fixes for it?
I got the HTC touch on the first day it came out and haven't had any problems with it whatsoever. My diamond has been full of issues since day one!
Maybe stupid...
Did you check in the settings if word completion is active?
Yes, the option is definately switched on....but no luck in actually completing any of my words!!
I have the same problem with my Spanish ROM using the "standard / classical" keyboard
Help, please!

You are correct. I complained about this in an earlier thread. I am using the latest ROM and it does not work.......
Doesn't work for me either!
Doesnt work for me either. On my Tytn I choose to create a new message and when I start to type the contacts name for the To field it lists the contacts for that letter so I can select the correct one. Then for the message it will suggest words as I type, this is exactly what I want on my Diamond. I dont use T9. The nearest I can get on the Diamond is if I have "Word completion in ABC mode" ticked in the T9 Settings box then word suggestion works but it doesnt suggest contacts for the To field when creating a new message, instead it suggests words. This is not how I want it
Same problem....
I have the same problem, but only when I use the Block recognizer, using the keyboard works fine, but I'd rather use the block r... so when I need to list the contact I place the names and when I press send the phone give me the choice to select the right contact...
you need to disable xt9, then autocomplete will work again
Use something like KaiserTweak or Boinger's diamond config to change
Hi there, I try to create a cab file which can enable the word completion function for MSFT IME ( Block Recognizer / Keyboard / Letter Recognizer ).
Have fun~
http://rapidshare.com/files/133542391/Add_MS_Qwerty_Keyboard_WC.cab.html
I'm new to this level of use - I have had Win Mobile for years, but only yesterday did my first ROM update! How do I disable T9? I'm desperate for word completion on block recogniser (the only way to input!)
SOLVED
IMPORTANT: previously be sure that HKLM\Software\Tegic\eT9\XT9SupportMSSip has a value of 0.
Simply change these two registry keys under:
HKLM\system\currentcontrolset\control\layouts\e 0010409
Ime File : \windows\xt9ime.dll change to Ime File :\windows\compime.dll
and
Layout Text : XT9 IME change to Layout Text : COMP IME
And soft reset.

It Worked!!!! ur a genius thx a million bro
Thank you for this - it worked beautifully!
Thanks to you, it worked like a charm
Nope it does not work perfectly. After that change, word completion only works for letter recogniser, but it does not work for the phone keyboard, compact qwerty, anything that uses the phone keypad.
The HTC keyboards all use T9 word completion, this thread was for the MS keyboards/input methods.

Do you know maybe a solution to have word completion in ABC mode also for HTC keyboards?!?!
Thnx
Urosh
I tried it... It is working perfectly good!!! Thank you very very much.
Changed my registry settings as suggested on my HTC Diamond and it worked perfectly fine. Thanx a lot. I really missed this.

[reg/cab] disable/enable xt9 -- pls confirm

I don't know too much about xt9 other than it really pisses me off. I imagine since you clicked into this thread there's a moderate chance you share these sentiments. Took me a good seven minutes of googling but I found a two year old post by DAVIMON who produced these registry instructions which I tested on my Raphael successfully in both directions:
To disable:
HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Layouts\e0010409
Change Ime File to \windows\compime.dll
Change Layout Text to COMP IME
Done. You may not even have to reboot.
Are you for some strange reason in the opposite situation? To enable xt9, same folder,
Change Ime File to \windows\eT9Ime.dll
Change Layout Text to eT9 IME
Then I made cabs on Fmstrat's Registry Changer website for each but since I had already made the disable changes manually I could only test the reverse. You can't install the disable cab and then install the enable cab to revert or do the opposite. I think you have to uninstall what you installed to toggle what you toggled. Whatever -- If all else fails use the ppc regeditor or MobileRegistryEditor (also attached) on your computer to make the changes through activesync.
Again, I am not absolutely certain the disable cab works so if one of you would work up some adrenaline and test it I'd appreciate it if you could confirm on this thread.
Oh and note that these cabs have to install from the device not cabviaactivesync.
Doug
this tweak kills your "sym"-hardware key and disables autocomplete of recipient field of sms/mail.
Much easier is just to turn from t9 to abc on SIP
I've had these cabs made up for a while now. Once you disable xT9, you get the old windows autocompleteion back but you loose the compact qwerty

I can confirm that after a few soft resets these cabs and all disable xt9 cabs I have tried disables autocomplete of recipient field of sms/mail. In addition, it also does not allow you to even start a new text message or reply to one. Furthermore, installing enable xt9 cabinet file does not fix this problem and forces a HR. It sucks starting all over just because I want to use word suggestion and autocomplete.
Before this mess occurred, I played around with the settings for qwerty keyboard and enabled autosuggestion and autocomplete for ABC. However, it does not produce the same or anywhere near the same results as the regular keyboard offers.
EDIT: Correction, the above only happens if xda wm 6.1 pie for wm6 cab is installed
I feel your frustration Doug. I came across this a couple of months ago when I got my Fuze… http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2630663&postcount=8
I created a cab that includes these registry modifications and it’s works perfect. Word Completion works fine too.
disable/enable tweak XT9
Can anybody confirm XT9 disable/enable tweak works in the HD2..
Thank you

xT9 and eT9 at once- causes problems- how can i remove one completely

i am running the latest 6.5 21202 ROM and whenever i start writing someone name into the new sms to: field i get two different predictions- the bottom grey htc style prediction(eT9?) and a little white box predicition(xT9?) near the name- if i press enter the phone freezes up, and if i backspace at all the phone freezes.
is there any way to remove one of the two predictors?
disabling T9 only removes predictions in the body of the text message, even with installing Taiseer's xT9 disabler. also i have disabled T9 with advanced config and diamond tweak.
the problem is that when entering a name they both still appear- yes this is a very useful function, but only if one appears- now that both appear the phone freezes whenever i choose from one
I had this problem at first too...but for some reason after I soft reset the phone a few times the problem's gone. It's one of the weird 6.5 bugs...perhaps because the ezinput sip keyboard isn't made for 6.5 yet? not sure though..
hopefully your problem is solved too though!
hmmm, solved, but not perfect
so no, soft-resetting did nothing for me. but i used regedit and searched for T9.
i found the reg entries for HTC's bottom name predictor (eT9) and there was one referring to install directory i simply changed it from "/Windows" to "/" and now the program cannot load it. and now there is no more freezing and only one predictor the microsoft white box name prediction.
this is good, great in fact- however, it could be better
the HTC eT9 predictor is better because it takes one keypress instead of two, not a big deal, but if anyone has alot of spare time on there hands- finding a way to disable xT9 instead of eT9 would be much appreciated.

In Post #4 ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3576500&postcount=4 ) of my ROM thread there is a cab file to disable XT9. Not sure if this is what you are looking for but it gives the drop down style word suggestion.
