TomTom 7 lag - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

Hi guys,
Recently purchased TT7 for my Diamond. I've tested it and there seems to be a lag of around 5-8 secs when driving.
It seems to be finding 6-7 satellites so thats not the problem.
Im using the HTC offical ROm update 1.93.405.1 and TT is installed on my internal storage.
What could I do to improve/fix this?

Tomtom Freeze I Have The Solution !!!

Hello,
with the news french rom HTC and the last rom DOPOD tom tom 6.03 is freezing, so i made 5 modifications of the P3600 parameters and now no freeze at all and tom tom works flawlessly. Before posting the solution i will test it until tomorrow to be sure.
@+++
just for information, never meet a freeze in tomtom with the french SFR S300+ ROM
good night
FREEZE
Hello,
Yes that right with SFR 300 but SFR is not the newest rom.
The newset Rom have AKU 3.3.1
@+++
The solution is uncheck all POIs. TOMTOM will not show POIs in the map, but you will be still be able to be advised of radars proximity (or any other POI you want) or select as destination, etc.
I am testing this solution since a week and works perfectly.
download newest tomtom, solve the problem.
And what is the solution??
If TomTom Freezes I just press the green phone button and everythinh is oke again, but it is rather bad...

Yes it works
Thanks
I installed version 6.03 and it works fine now.
I sometimes still get a freeze (about once every 10 or 12 days now) but a quick power off and back on solves this in about 5 seconds. It only happens when starting so I can still trust it in city centres where you really need it.
I recently cleaned some junk files from the tomtom map folder and it has not hung since but it's too early to say if I have a 100% no freezes or not...
I never had any tomtom freezing problems till I deleted my US maps and reinstalled them with the sd card are almost full. so I reformated my sd card and reinstalled the mapset and the tomtom program only and did not have any freezing at all for are 6 hour roadtrip. guessing my problem was caused be the mapset being fragmented because the sd card was almost full when I reintalled the mapset. I don't think this will correct everyones problems but it might help some.
Just to be sure about what we are looking for
I have a TomTom 6.03 freeze with the latest FR GPS ROM…
But it concerns only when I was playing with the menus and settings with TomTom soft (also this can be avoided by switching to another program and coming back when it happens… As clicking the green button for example).
But, when I am not playing with… and I have just a navigation mode… I never had a Freeze.
Will confirm that during the w.e. as I am not using GPS during the week
To stop the freezing just disable all pois alerts on your map's...
you will not seem them on display but still have the sound alert if needed...
I thought there was solution here
The thread started will the solution but the real solution is never given *BUMMER*
I just installed ROM version 1.23.405 but TOM TOM keeps saying 'connecting to gps' but it never does.
Anyone knows why?
Tomtom Freeze
Hello,
I test the solution for one week ago and all its ok tomtom not freeze, the solution is to use ATIFix.cab (Its a fix for driver ati).
Sorry for the delay.
@++++
htc p3600 or dopod freezing on tomtom
i have downloaded the atifix and its working now as i had problem with mine and its been ok since yesterday , i think that is the soloution

Sorry guys but I don't know what to do with the Atifix tool after downloading. Can someone please explain in detail? Many thanks!
copy it to your Trinity and run it from file explorer. Then restart the Trinity

qu. | GPS update rate problem

Hello,
Anyone about any problem with the internal GPS in the TILT ???
I found that the GPS update every 2 seconds (2 quick updates every 2 seconds).
I have holux GPS that update 1 time every 1 second.
So this is a problem with the internat GPS ???
thnx
Hi beonfocus,
I think this is not normal behaviour. I have an unbranded Kaiser (german version) and my GPS updates every 1 second. Are you sure it's the GPS receiver itself or is it maybe the software you checked with (only an idea...)? I checked my updating frequency with TomTom and GPS-Dash.
HansOlo
i check it
i checked it with 2 navigation softwares.
can you tell how to check it again ?
thnx

I only used the two mentioned programs and looked in the sattelite view how fast the signal updates.
There are other small programs like HTC GPS Tool, GPS Test or GPS Viewer which can be found in this forum.
I never tried them myself because I never had GPS problems until now, so I have no idea if they are useful.
If you have problems finding one of these PM me, I can send HTC GPS tool to you as I stored it on my hard disk.

The Kaisers in Asia come bundled with Mapking but I also have Garmin XT on mine. From my limited experience at least, Mapking is slow to update, while Garmin updates quite speedily.

Is your TomTom this slow - Video inlcuded

Just wondering if anyone's TomTom 6 or 7 is as slow as the one as this video I made or is yours running smoothly. Would have though TomTom would have ran much better than this due the the GPU acceleration
Even though it's a VGA screen my Tytn 2 was running this much, much faster, not far off silky smooth . The TomTom in the video is v7 VGA running the latest v7.20 maps (tested also with TomTom 6 QVGA running v6 maps and was just as slow).
Am posting this as reading some posts here and people are saying my TomTom is running smoothly, mines running perfectly, no lag etc.
Look forward to your feedback
Excuse the background noise, forgot to remove it

im using tomtom7 that came with some of the original diamond roms and the free map that you get for one city from tomtom's site and it runs flawlessly.

What rom version are you running?
Wouldn't mind trying it.
i've run tomtom (both 6 and 7 with your same map) on ALL the ROM that we have at this moment for ours diamond , always smoothly.
neither my polaris have problem like that in your video , my be you have too many POI activated.

Yep, mine is as ****ty as yours. That is the reason I liked Tomtom is it's smooth movement..... not on the Diamond though, might as well run a slideshow, could possibly be faster.
hi radeon, it seems that i have the same problem as you.
till now i'm thinking it's because of the gps refresh rate, but i'm not really sure
because this should offend all diamond users...
but for me the major problem of using any gps software at the moment is the
enormous lag at low speeds. when i'm in a traffic jam the position updates approx.
only every 100m, and the actual speed is also very slow in changing it's values (i'm
standing still and the tachymetre shows still ~10km/h for a few seconds...
i guess this is because the static navigation of the chipset.
regards,
markus
Hi
I had the same problem on my first tomtom, you display too much POIs, try to disable a lot of POI and retest.
POI's Rubbish
It has nothing to do with the number of POI's. I have run the exact same version of TTN and the exact same map on a Treo 750 with ALL POI's activated and it was as smooth as my Tomtom GO720.
I just find it hard to beleive that my old Palm ran faster??????
Dont know why but it isnt POI's.

I always make sure my POI's are disabled otherwise TomTom would run a lot slower than that video .

Well I would like to see that "flawlessly" on a video!
I just can't believe the current TomToms run flawlessly on the current Diamond ROMs. Till I see it myself.

Would love to see this to
Just as a test, I removed all my POI's and voices from the map folder and ran TomTom with as little on screen as possible, also disabled all street names etc, did a demo run and it ran at exactly the same speed as that video.
I'm running the TLR 1.37.405.1 rom at the moment, so hopefully this maybe a rom issue because the GPU is doing bugger all to help run TomTom, seems the CPU is doing everything, and being a VGA screen that's why it's a lot slower than my old Tytn 2 which the CPU did everything there to.
This is the only issue I have with the Diamond and it's an annoying one

Trust me when i say that you need the tomtom version that was shipped on certain roms.
I would give you a link but im sure the xda guys would class it as warez!
I have a uk diamond that didnt come with tomtom7 but i have a license for tomtom so i found the optimized version for the diamond.

iGo 8 on Raphael

So, i got iGO 8.0.0.54000, and it's the 1. sept update. Is there anything newer for Wm 6.1?? I tried some 8.3.2.64873 version (seems to be the newest), but it doesn't start. Classic problem that some people wrote about here. It starts, then nothing happens. I thought maybe it's beacuse application.dat is nowhere to be found in that release I downloaded, I dunno. Maybe someone more experienced could tell me.
All in all, i'm on a 54000 version, and wondering how to update it, and if there is an update at all?
Oh yeah, one more question. I found sattelite, and it's missing my position by some 500 meters. how can I fix it?!?
I'm having the problem where the gps locks on fine--but for only 3-4 seconds, tells me GPS signal lost, waits about 20 seconds, then reconnects, only to lose the signal 4 seconds later...any ideas?
Your problems are independant from iGO 8 but it´s the GPS of Raphael that has a lag. You can read all over in this forum

iGO 8.3 works on Raphael as well. I´m using it. Can it be that you are using a non legal copy of iGO?
Your issue with losing the gps signal is endepedant form iGO but it´s an issue of your raphael

damn, i flashed .28 radio rom, and nothing improved...
Hello,
Whatever if it is legal or illegal version, (I'm not concerned about) iGO 8.3 works on Raphael.
What you have to do is to edit your sys.txt and set :
[folders]
app="%SDCARD%/iGO8"
[interface]
maxzoom2d=6000000
show_exit=1
[device]
sdcard_dsk_num=7
Sources : http://www.mobifrance.com/pdaforum/showthread.php?threadid=121791
PS : it's in french sorry )
I have iGo 8.3 working on mine, and I don't have this line in my sys.txt:
[device]
sdcard_dsk_num=7
I did have to mess with my data.zip a few times to get it working correctly.
I still haven't found a good working style with 8.3 though so I'm still using the default.
I changed sys.txt and now it's all working for now
thanks everybody! you're great

Poor Performance - iGO 8 w/TTS Enabled

Does anyone have iGO 8 with Text to Speech enabled? Does your copy run well?
I have it working, but it is SLLLOOOWWW. The UI lurches, and the voice is choppy. It is acting like the Kaiser does not have enough resources to run it properly (which may be the case). If anyone has it working well, let me know what you did to get it working well (like your SYS.TXT settings, or other).
Thanks!
iGO8 problems
I am running iGO 8.0.0.49545 flawlessly on my Tilt with HPIII M2D December
3rd ROM. I recooked the ROM, but nothing that would effect the GPS. I am running the same radio as you too. IM me if you need anything such as files.
iGO 8.0 with normal voices was always stable for me, but with Text to Speech voices it seemed to crash a LOT more.
I'm trying iGO 8.2 right now, but I can't even get TTS to work on it at all.. Plus some bugs with POI icons... I think I'll be going back.
Bump? Anyone get this working reasonably?
I am also running iGO 8.0.0.49545 flawlessly on my Tilt with HPIII M2D December. Ran with L26 Diamond B6 as well. Here is what I found:
After first installing IGO8, it would go through my contacts (I have 400+) and try to geocache the addresses or something like that. While this was happening, it was mad slow, very choppy. Just let it run for as long as it takes to pop up a 'warning' like 'geocaching complete, failed to import x of y, do you want to see errors?'
It might not be called geocaching, but it is something very similar.
I can't guarantee that is the issue, but it worked for me.
I have the iGO8 running pretty good on my Kaiser, the only problem is that the voice seems to be small, at least smaller than what I saw on Garmin XT or Tomtom 7. Does anyone have any suggestion about this?

I tested TTS on OCN8 (aka iGO8) for PocketPCThoughts just a few months ago. Yes, it was very slow and frequently got itself very screwed up on directions -- correcting itself halfway through, dropping the remainder of a direction, etc.
I eventually just removed it. The 2.1 voices are much smoother.

Exactly the problem I'm having. I wish TomTom would support Navigator 7 for Kaiser.
I just installed the non-TTS voices personally. Although since I updated to 8.3, iGO8 takes about twice as long to startup now. Not sure why.

erm, sorry, I meant 8.3.
IGO 8 ??
and is there any links where we can download the IGO 8 ??
can someone share this
.PM if to sensitive
I am using Igo 8.3 and have been using 8.0 before.
I have stability issues with both versions (freeze/lockup/reboot) that i cannot seem to solve.
Using Dutty's Diamond rom and 1.65.16.25 radio.
Hard reset and only igo installed still has the same problems.
Anyone know what could cause the problem?
