hi all...i am having a strange problem. in order to remvoe the bloatware i cleared my storage memory in phone and then did a soft reset in the beginning to avoid bloatware installation. everything went fine, but now i am not able to access internet through any browser. but at the same time all the apps which access internet directly are able to access properly. please let me know what i need to do now
this might have something to do with the AT&T proxies. search for that on xda. i saw a thread somewhere with a cab for the proxy posted.
EDIT: you can find it here

I tried that and even then its not working. by the way i am using the 6.1 stock ROM.
ummm... i'm stumped. how about a hard reset?
doesnt part of the bloatware configure the settings for internet access? have you checked those out? Start, settings, connections, connections...check that out, see if it's blank. There's a cab out there that autoconfigs for at&t settings (credit to creator) or the settings are all over the internet.

Do i need to have these settings configured even to access through wifi?

I can't figure out why PocketIE isn't loading up pages while in WiFi Connection.. i could only load up pages from BBConnect, WiFi doesn't seem to be loading up at all :S.
It wouldn't do much. It would only show the status bar up, says loading 0KB and disappear.
Is there a setting mistake I made?
E-Mail seem to work fine, it's just PocketIE that's not working.
Did you put the PIE cache to your storage card? If yes, this is your problem.

Well, I don't know what I did anymore, but I reinstalled everything. Seems to work fine for now.
After being prompted with
"The internet connection is currently in use by the Blackberry browser. Would you like to temporarily disable BlackBerry browsing?"
[yes'> [no'>
I went to restart my device (TyTN II, running clean ROM, factory default) because an installer wanted me to. I wasn't sure which option it chose, but it seems like it's on NO (since it has this thicker black border than YES).
After I booted back on, I can't browse the web using PocketIE any longer. It would show up the progress bar for a split second, but nothing actually loads.
Anyone with a possible idea/solution?
I am having this same problem. What setup are you all running. I have the junk free ATT rom with HSPDA enabled.

Define "setup".
I still receive emails from my BBConnect and such.

Thanks to Sems, of www.sems.org, he provided me with a solution!
Simply disable the proxy in IE or use Blackberry Browser link.
It is in the same post of your last comment:
""You can modify the registry key 'EnableAutoDetect' key found in the registry location:
[hkey_current_user\software\microsoft\windows\curre ntversion\internet settings'>
The default setting (that uses the proxy) is:
"EnableAutoDetect"=dword:00000000
(To disable proxy) Change it to:
"EnableAutoDetect"=dword:00000001
The best option is to delete the registry key (which I did) since some posts indicate this registry option gets set to 0 after a reset."

THANKS SEMS!
In VPG's 8525 ROMs he included a folder in Programs to Enable and Disable the Proxy (so that one could easily use WiFi instead of GPRS).
I found cabs for restore hidden proxy and remove hidden proxy, thinking those were the same. However after installing the cabs, I can't find them anywhere on my Tilt.
Does anyone know how to make them visible or where they might have gone to or especially how to create a new folder in programs to install them to
Proxy Cab
I am not sure about it working for the Tilt and am actually looking for the cab for proxy settings for my 8525. Do you think you could attach them for me? Or even better attach the link where you found it. Thanks.
I'm bringing this back to life because I've got the same problem.
I wiped all the ATT crap off of my Tilt. Then it seemed that the proxy was still enabled, so I downloaded the cabs here for remove/restore hidden proxy. The problem is, after I installed the cabs, I can't find where to launch the programs from.
Any help?
Installing the enable Cab file enables the hidden proxy.
Installing the disable Cab file disables the hidden proxy.
There is no program installed.
haha, I feel retarded for asking that... I just opened the cab and looked in the XML and realized that the cabs are just registry changes.
Thanks for the reply tho!
Okay, dumb question. I have both enable proxy, and disable proxy in my Windows directory. Is there a way I can add these to HTC Home, so I will have a quick easy way to use them? I also have SPB Pocket Plus, is there a way to add it there?
Thanks!
Hi, where can i get this for my wizard? thanks!
Explain.
Hi I have AT&T Tilt.
I accidentaly activated "Disable Proxy" CAB, and it said it was installed succesfully.
Can anyone explain for what is used Disable and Restore Proxy?
What is its function in my phone and what does that have to do with Tom Tom?

Has nothing to do with Tomtom. If you enable the proxy, you shouldn't be on wifi but rather ATT's network. The proxy is used to access some stuff off the ATT network, not wifi.
I need access to a direct ftp port with the http://65988.0023.XXX style connection but I can't get access to it unless I am using WIFI? what setting can I change to stop this?
try disabling the proxy settings, sometimes bypassing your networks proxy settings will open up all sorts of options you where once blocked from accessing
how would I go about that? I didn't know I was behind proxy settings? And do I need them to access medianet?
in your connection settings go to manage existing connection, select proxy settings and untick the box that says this network uses a proxy server to connect to the internet and leave the box ticked that says this network connects tothe internet.
Ive disables my proxy settings for t-mobile Uk internet settings and now it connects alot faster and pages seem to be loading faster also
doesn't work... Darn this sux... I test it with www.msn.com and it still makes it pull up msn.mobile... how annyoing...
bump anyone have anything on this?
I would really appreciate help with this because I have to access a program that I can't otherwise.
If you're looking to hit an FTP site, then I'd grab an FTP client for WM and stop futzing with IE in the first place. Or am I misunderstanding what you're doing?
not it is not an ftp it is an http://112.2232.224:2324 type of site... that is all.
Don't know your carrier but here's a cab that disables the "hidden" proxy in AT&T and one that restores it. Worth a try?

YEAAAAAAAAAAA I don't know what happened... but since I installed your thing it works perfect. damn I was getting peaved... when I go to msn.com thought it still brings up msn.mobile though. Well at least I can go to anywebsite I want now.
Do I ever need to put the proxies back? I guess I should just put this on my card just in case.
Again, Thanks... What else am I able to do now?
In the Tilt, Internet Explorer's user agent string is locked to mobile internet, meaning that websites will see your device as a mobile device. If the site has a mobile site, it will automatically re-direct you to that. In WM5 devices, you could use software to change IE's user agent string to make it look like a desktop, but on the Tilt, you can't.
You'll need to get Opera Mobile if you want the internet to see your phone as a desktop.
I think for what your trying to do you need to use the MY ISP settings instead of medianet settings. But I don't know what they are anymore. I think you will also need the right data plan to use them.
does PIEPlus User Agent setting work with Tilt?

Is this true even if using PIEPlus? PIEPlus Tools>Options Plus>User Agent allows setting User Agent to IE 5.5 or IE 6.0 (which should be seen by websites as a regular computer) in addition to the default PIE setting (which is seen as mobile)

what is pie plus. First off, I tried using opera mobile desktop setting and when I went to www.msn.com it still comes up as mobile. Do I have to configure something further?
Lastly, I just told you all that the program for turning off the hidden proxies worked. So for what I was trying to do those programs the other person posted worked nicely. However, it still sucks that I can't bypass the mobile crap... There is a program called deepfish from microsoft that addresses the issue exactly, however the jerks won't let the beta out any further. I am gonna aaddress that issue in another post.
I believe the problem is something in the WM6 or the Tilt itself because Opera doesn't work either.
Boy I'm glad you guys worked on this. I upgraded to Tilt yesterday and was cracking my head against the wall trying to figure out why the HTTP addresses wouldn't resolve with the same settings I've been using in my 8525. @#$%#@ Hidden Proxy! lol
Cheers and Happy New Year!

In Opera Mobile go to Menu>Tools>Settings then change Identify as from Handheld device to Desktop computer.
I just upgraded my Tilt to Dutty's wm6.1, and I was wondering if there is something that I can do to make it so I can purchase things from MEdia Mall from AT&T. There are a couple of things that I need to get from there, and now it won't let me...says "we're sorry, your device is not supported for purchases on the MEdia Mall".
I know on Motorola phones you can add the Cingular certs to a folder (at least in the older p2k phones), which re-enables access to purchasing. Is there something like this that we can do to Tilts with an upgrade ROM? A cab we can install or a registry edit? I'm assuming we just need to do something that AT&T sees it as a Tilt and not an unknown phone.
I searched, but didn't see anything on this subject.
i've been looking for the same thing. I'll see if i could point you in the right direction. I remember reading something a while back about RestoreProxy and Disable Proxy.. maybe you want to restore the proxy to get it to work. Do a search in google because the search feature in this forum never find anything for some reason. Google. Restore Proxy Kaiser in google you should find someting
Well, you have to go through the proxy to even connect to the MediaNet homepage.
My sig! Look at it .
There is also an option in KaiserTweak to change how your device identifies itself to websites. Try changing the setting to AT&T Tilt. Combine that with the AT&T hidden proxy, and you should be good to go.

I could get on with either one. I did it before.
I have following problem:
Normally i should use wap.vodafone.de-connection to access internet-that's the only one listed in Start-Settings-Connection-Connections. But apparently my youtube-application uses web.vodafone.de connection to access internet - i know that because i received an sms from vodafone that i should use the right connection access point(wap.vodafone.de not web.vodafone.de). So the question is - how to change it? I havent' found any similar threads in this forum or connection-settings in youtube-application.
Change connection settings, or remove the web apn.

Change connection settings where?? In Start->Settings->Connections->Connections i have only one(the right one).
Hmm there usually are some there.
Settings-connections-connections and the Advanced tab.
In select network, you find a list, select the ones to edit/remove.
When editing you get in the middle 'modem' tab. ONe tab on the left is general, you have button 'remove settings' there.
You can also edit them to use the other apn.
It's a bit unlogical, I really never understood how this really works
Yehh! Thanks! Pretty unlogical but now i have a clue.
