I get disconnected with Windows Media Player synching - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

When I sync music to my HTC Diamond, using Windows Media Player or MediaMonkey I get disconnected after 5-6 songs transferred. It’s like someone unplugs the USB cable.
If I copy the same music files manually by windows explorer, they all transfer fine with no problem.
Please help because I have to use Windows Media Player for transfer because I have some WMA DRM files.

remove the DRM

It's not the DRM. Happens with MP3s.

does the phone screen turn off? and go into sleep mode?
i used to get this exact problem with my old Touch, and i noticed that every time it disconnected from sync, at that exact moment the phone turned the screen off as per normal power saving settings.
it was the phone going into sleep the killed the sync to i turned off power saving when plugged in so it would never sleep when charging (including when connected to pc) and everything worked fine!

I just tried again. No the device doesn’t go to sleep and the screen doesn’t turn off. It’s exactly like if someone unplugs the USB cable.

How to make tilt not wake up when plugged into power source

hey ya'll, so for the longest time when I would plug the tilt into the wall charger, the screen would NOT turn on (it would not wake up) - however, suddenly, now it does...
I've tried going through all the settings, but I can't seem to figure out how to get it to not wake up when plugged in (wall charger) -- I know it will turn on when plugged into the computer, that's fine -- any help, as always, would be greatly appreciated
thanks!
Well I'm not sure how to stop it from waking when you plug it in, but you can always tell it to go right back into stand-by.
Check out the settings in Start > Settings > System [tab] > Power > Advanced [tab]
You can tell it to "Turn off device if not used for" X amount of time while "On external power".
Not a fix but I hope it helps.
It's a strange thing. I have both a wall charger and a desktop cradle/charger.
When I plug my Tilt into the desktop cradle (without the usb cable connected to the pc), it turns on. But, when I use the wall charger, it doesn't.
This is very consistant. Maybe the pinout is different between the connectors, or the output voltage is different.
It's just something I've gotten used to and can live with.
The Tilt will not wake if you use the wall charger that came with the Tilt. It will wake if you use other types of usb charger

I've noticed that myself and I think it is extremely odd but intelligent.
If your cradle is connected to a PC via USB then it will wake. My Tilt never wakes when I simply plug into the charger, but dropping it into my cradle wakes the PPC and the PC (if it happens to be asleep).
It wakes because there is a sync notification that tells it to on detection of a USB ie. repllog.exe is by default set to run when this key is present "AppRunAtRs232Detect"
Now you can remove this repllog entry, but it means you would have to run repllog manually every time you want to sync.
The following was written for the purpose of replacing repllog entries deleted by mistake. However it will give you some info on what happens when you connect certain Rs232 USB connectors.

I am using the supplied wall charger that came with the phone and the screen powers on when I plug it in. It used to not do this at one point. I believe some thrid party software I installed is causing this. Also the screen with turn on once the charge is complete. Very annoying at night. I don't want to use the on external power settings to blank the screen after x minutes because this messes with using the GPS function while in my car. I want to see the screen while using GPS and plugged into a power source.

It shouldn't, all GPS programs I've tried force backlight on regardless on the system settings while they're running. Which one are you using?
I'm using iGuidance 3.1.
I had to do a hard reset due to an app I installed making my phone go all wonky. After the hard reset and re-installing all my programs I no longer have this problem of the phone waking on external power.
My original Tilt used to do the same thing - screen turned on when plugging into the HTC supplied power cord (even after a H/R with no programs). Eventually, the phone had to be replaced after one day it had a red light after charging a few hours and wouldn't turn on (it had been around 50% when plugged in). My refurbished Tilt mostly does not power on when plugged into the wall charger. Once in a blue moon, it will. It is random enough, I haven't been able to see a common factor as to why.
Any settings to disable wake on USB to computer connection?
A lot of times I plug my Kaiser to PC just to charge it, and I hate to see it connecting every time.
Many thanks!!!

Go to power save while connected to PC

Hi Guys!
When my Diamond is connected to PC it is always ON. Only backlight is off after a while.
But I need the phone to go to sleep (not just backlight off) even if it's connected to PC and activesync.
In other words, I need the same phone behavior as such when it is charged from adapter and go to sleep after a period which is defined in power setings.
Can you help me what and where I need to setup?

[Q] USB/Auto Rotation problem in Galaxy S

Hallo,
I have Oct/2010 Galaxy S bought from Germany. I have the 3 button recovery mode enable model. So following are the problems I am facing simultaneously...but first the story how it begins...
The day it started
I was making a video of my girl when she was taking a shower..lol..she caught the phone and tried to snatched it...and in this bloody joke act, the phone fell off in the sink about 1-1.5 feet below. I immediately took it and checked if everything was ok. I found that the home screen was fixed to horizontal display, and wouldn't change even after numerous re-starts or rese/selecting the automatic rotation option.
Problems
1. Stuck Horizontal Display
The phone is 99% time stuck to horizontal display with exception of the call log or dialer option or games which run only in portrait mode. Auto-rotation selection-deselection and horizontal calibration doesn't help at all. *Till 2-3 days back, if the phones battery is exhausted and switches off automatically, and then if the charging USB cable is connected, the phone restarts and turns normal to the normal portrait mode*. And stays like this till the next manual restart. Now, this is also not working anymore. I can play the accelerometer games perfectly, those also which run in portrait mode only. Also, the phone never charges if it is switched off..I mean if you connect charger USB cable/power cable when the phone is switched off...the phone turns on and then start to charge. Before(when all was ok), I had this big battery indicator on screen while at the time of switched-off charging. Also, if a power cable charging method is used...the touch screen behaves like crazy and you cant use it at all. You can't even slide to unlock the screen but all the buttons work completely fine. In case of USB cable charging...everything goes normal and I can use the touch screen and buttons like normal.
2. USB Mode
So the USB cable is charging the cellphone whenever connected to any USB port. When connected to a computer, its the wish of the cellphone if its wants to connect or not. The USB mode is detected by a computer/laptop only when the phone is turned on after a complete battery discharge in a normal portrait mode (read the lines above marked with *). That too I have to reinstall the drivers of the phone on the laptop/pc again. All the other times when phone is only have horizontal display, USB mode of any type...mass storage, kies, music player is not detected.
Some how i have upgraded to recently released 2.3.4 XXJVR from my previous 2.3.3 XXJVK but the problem has not gone. It started while using XXJVK only. I have reset everything...erased the phone/sd card memory but nothing happened and also restoring to the factory reset option.
Anyone who can help!!
Try flashing a FULL rom with 3 files and .pit again
Hope it helps

[Q] Charging via PC USB

Still waiting on my dock to arrive but noticed something today. I had my SP hooked up to my Windows 8 PC via the USB to top up the charge and noticed that if my PC goes into sleep mode (i.e. screen shuts off, etc.) the phone doesn't charge. Once I log back in it starts back up again. Found that strange.
I'm assuming it will be the same on the dock if hooked up the the PC? Sucks if it is as it won't charge overnight that way. Is there anyway around it? Is this a phone issue or Windows thing?

Its windows powersaving. Look at your Powersaving software (if you have one). Maybe there is an option where you can set what exactly will shutdown after some time. For example, screen, hard drives, usb sockets. When you have laptop It won't be difficult i think. On desktop PCs without such software you can look in some windows powersaving options or as was in previos post said - in BIOS.
I dont have win 8 or even 7 so I cant say exactly where you should looking for.
Thanks guys. I'll check it out when I get home to see if there are any config type settings I can use. I'll update if there is.

Windows 10 stability issues on X98 Air

I am experiencing some stability issues on Windows 10. Sometimes the system randomly freezes (screen stays on, but no reaction until hard power off) or does not wake up, while being charged with Windows running. Other times the system runs perfectly for hours. I am not experiencing any problems under load.
My problems are not load related, and I have disabled the fast boot option in energy management. As there is no blue screen, I cannot find any info on what is causing it. It is a clean install. Except the two drivers for the cameras, all drivers are signed and either downloaded from Windows Update or gathered by scanning the Win 10 driver folder that has been uploaded on this and the techtablet forums. The graphics driver has been updated with the most recent Intel version.
What are your experiences with Windows? Anyone experienced something similar or is there a known faulty driver?
Other things I tried:
Error check on drive
sfc /scannow
Windows and this tablet have some problems... my experience http://forum.xda-developers.com/x98...-2048x1536-t2913035/post63550338#post63550338
They also occur when idle, when using the tablet everything is fine, problems are not easily reproducable and I did not find anything valuable in the event log, so i gave up and live with it.
I reinstalled windows, tried different bios versions, drivers... energy options, nearly everything I could think of^^
Wasted a lot of time, I now hard power it off instead of letting it "sleep" or whatever it does, I guess some driver is faulty with the windows deep sleep aka "connected standby".
I narrowed it down a bit. I kept looking for driver updates via Windows Update and examining the different powercfg reports. (my thought was, if the driver or app misbehaves in connected standby, it is not good). Now the system seems stable on battery power and connected standby seems to work as expected.
I do have problems while connected to the charger. The device will not wake up after a longer time if it goes to sleep while charging. I also noticed that the sound driver seems to alter its behavior when power is connected, so testing now with volume=0. (some well known problem with the audio driver on other tablets)
My fresh install of win 10 (1511) just slept to death again. This time there was an entry in event log. LockApp.exe crashed after waking up, so silly, eventlog is full of errors that shouldn't be there on a fresh install.
One question, does shutdown work for you (win or android)? Mine seems to power off, but it isn't really off. Drains battery and before you can turn it on again you have to hard power off (even though it looks like it is off).
Positive thing about fresh install of win 10 (1511) is that wlan works out of the box, also some more drivers are downloaded automatically (but seems not the ones that cause problems^^).

I did not switch it off often enough to reach any conclusions. Seen it fail when shutting down from Windows several times, from Android things seem pretty stable. To test, I attach an USB lamp to the OTG adaptor. When the tablet shuts down it turns off USB power and the lamp turns off.
