I'm not sure what I did - it was working find not too long ago today. Now when I turn it on, it shows the HTC Diamond screen, then the Sprint animation, then what looks like the outlines of two windows opening in quick succession, then the screen goes blank, yet you can clearly tell the black light is on. I've tried a hard reset, but Down Vol+Home+Soft Reset does nothing, just boots as described above. Anyone know if there's a different command for a hard reset on the CDMA ver.?
Well, I figured out how to hard reset it and that did the trick. Too bad I lost all my info.

Hey guys,
My tilt just got the red light and screen stoped working. I mean I can go throw the icons manual with the scroll key but what ever I touch on the screen nothing happens? any Ideas what should I do? is this related to red light issue? by battery is charged 99%
Thanks
any one knows anything about touch screen not working?
I had the exact same issue once when toying around with touchflo on my tilt. Both the red light and the dead screen. I had to do a hard reset, and that cleared it up. It's a drastic step, but it worked. Hopefully though there's a better solution out there for you. Good Luck!
how do I do a Hard Reset?
When I had the HTC appache, it used to be I had to hold down both soft buttons, and then click the soft reset. However, in the Tilt, if you go under settings....then go to the system tab....there's an icon for clear storage. That causes it to do a hard reset. Keep in mind though it erases everything that you've put on the phone. So you'll have to go back and reset all your programs and settings.
would this delete my contact list too? or thats on my SIM card?
I did the hard reset but now I am stock at the first screen which says tap the screen to set up your windows mobile base software. i am tapping nothing happens. what should i do now ?
I've search woth Google, GWENI and Wiki and could not find a similar case. Please let me know if this has already been dealt with.
So, everything was working fine earlier this morning (alarm, calls, wifi, bluetooth A2DP), I have not installed nor tweaked anything in weeks - I finally had the phone setup the way I wanted to...
This morning I was adding an event in my Calendar, and I got an "Application Error" msg - which would not allow me to add the event. I quit calendar, tried again and the same thing happned. I had just succcessfuly added a Contact a second earlier so I decided to Soft Reset (Using the button on the bottom and stylus) and when it started booting up I noticed the AT&T 3G Splash Animation Screen (which I had disabled back in February - this is were I went "Oh no ") followed by the Windows Mobile Splash screen with "Tap the screen to set up your Windows Mobile based device". So I'm guessing the phone had a Factory Reset for some reason.
Unfortunetly, my struggle doesn't end with me losing my information. The phone is stuck at that Windows Mobile Splash Screen. I removed my SIM Card (which is not ATT), and battery for a few minutes but I have only been able to pass the Spash Screen about three times and the phone gets stuck on the Screen Calibration/Alignment set up. Other than the Reset Button, none of the buttons respond at this point, including the power button.
Any suggestions?
Any help will be GREATLY appreciated =)

I understand the buttons are not responding. However, a similar situation happened to me last week. I just had to do a hard reset (the buttons only responded when i did a hard reset).
hold down both soft keys while inserting your stylus. Hopefully this works.
also try flashing a different rom and see if that solves the problem
hi, i have my htc touch diamond flashed with BElite's ROM and this is the first time it happened, and I can't boot the device. It will act like it's starting up, and past the first "htc touch diamond" that shows on the screen, it'll show hte RGB on the bottom right and go black normally, then show it again but with RGB lines all over the screen. sometimes itll make hte htc sound and show hte htc thing then go back to the rgb lines. when i hit reset, the screen is full of different colored lines up and down

Hard reset, and if that fails, reflash?
i hit the reset button on the back, but everytime it turns on, it just shows a messed up screen. sometimes white fuzz, sometimes rgb crazy lines, and i think my d-pad and the back is heating up a bit....sometimes itll show hte initial screen.

The reset button only does a soft reset, which doesn't sound like it's helping, try hard reset and see what that does.
i tried the hard reset method, but the message that's supposed to pop up doesn't show and no response. maybe its an overheat problem so im letting it sit. but i don't know. The warranty is obviously voided so sending it in is going to cost a lot of...cha-ching.
Hmm... before you flashed, did you do all the things like install HardSPL? If you connect the device to the computer, does it connect (so you can do another flash)?
yeah I have the HardSPL flashed on it. Everything has been working perfectly until this afternooon when i pulled my phone out of my pocket and the screen was fuzzed. I let it sit for hours and it SEEMED to get better because it showed the "device is preparing for first use" screen but the bottom half was crooked and off to a side. and it froze like that. btw thanks for all your help
I let it sit overnight, then this morning when i tried it. EVERYTHING was perfect, i got the date and time setup and the calibration, but when it started to load windows, it frozen, restarted itself and showed rgb dots around the touch diamond initial screen. Thanks for any help.
new symptom: when i plug it in to charge, both pc and ac, it shows that it's charging and it gets warm but, when i unplug it, it keeps showing the center key flashing in the circle it does when it's charging. and it never finishes charging.
I tried to make a call a few minutes ago and I couldn't hear any sound but screen said call was connected. I did a soft reset and now I'm getting this message "KAIS1*0 mfg. SPL-1.0.01pof CPLD-8" on the tri colored screen. I've been using my installed rom for over a year and a half now.
I'm in a situation now where I don't have time to research this issue so I'm sorry if this situation has been posted in the past. I apologize... Just wondering off hand if this or a similar issue has happened to anyone else in the past. If I have any options besides reflash. I'm on call for work and I'm going to have to pick up a new phone until I can do some research.
Many Thanks!
UPDATE: My phone will boot when plugged into the charger, if I unplug the phone and try to boot it will not. One other thing I noticed is that my speaker doesn't work now when unplugged, but does when I'm plugged in. Not sure where to go from here could it be my mini usb connector on the phone that's causing this?

Try a hard reset.
Hard Reset
- Press and hold both soft keys (The two inside the green and red phone ones)
- While holding softkeys, using a stylus, press and HOLD the soft reset button at the bottom of the phone
- Keep all three pressed until the keypad lights turn off and then flash
- Release the soft reset button while still pressing the soft keys
- Let go of the two soft keys once the message "This operation will delete all your personal data, to manufacturer default" appears on screen
- Finally, press the green call button to perform the hard reset, or press other key to cancel
this could be a battery issue and if it is you need to clean the contacts or get a new battery
I thought the same thing so I swapped batteries with my girlfriend who also has the same phone. My battery works in her phone and with hers in mine I still have the same issue. My battery compartment was very clean. I pried up my contacts a bit though. After opening my girlfriends phone up, hers is a different story. I stumbled upon this thread about stuck spl staying in bootloader mode. I wonder if this could be my issue? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=420683
Everything seems to match up with the issues I'm having...
Ok, I know not everyone will have a similar situation and maybe my post is quite late since many might have moved on to other nicer phones ;-)
I was uploading ROM using ShellTool that takes awfully long and my PC (an XP) decided to download updates and reboot all by itself. Needless to say, I was stuck at the boot screen with the IPL, SPL, GSM and the OS screen. The OS was showing 6.0.0.1 and that's it. pressing the Voice Dial and COMM button and resetting didn't help. So out of frustration, I pressed the Camera and Voice Dial buttons and did a reset and Presto, got the Red, Green, Blue with USB screen. I was able to load ATT's WM5 on it. Am sure many will like to know this minor pleasant mishap.
Hard Reset is mentioned here http://www.pocketpccentral.net/help/cingular/8125reset.htm
I would call my trick as the Hard Wiping

It's not a trick, it is called the RGB bootscreen.
not same as RGB, the actual boot.
well, all I got stuck was at the boot screen, not the RGB screen, the screen that just shows the IPL, SPL, GSM and OS numbers with the Cingular screen. I did not find anywhere that showed me to get out of the screen till I accidentally came across it. Actually, the record button is not necessary, just the camera button is fine while pressing the reset and holding it till the RGB screen is back.
Where did you get AT&T's WM5 rom, I am having the same problem. I have the IPL/SPL but can't find the rom, the link in the thread here no longer works.
Thanks.
