It seems logout has updated his WM5 ROM.
This is based on TuMa 1.4 but with the pre-installed applications removed to speed things up a bit.
I've no idea what's changed since 5.4.01 as there's no readme/changelog and don't have time to test it right now.
hi have download and tried this rom, but stop im middel off upgrating on my BA stop over 40%
wait for more info..
I upgraded successfully to this ROM just now. I was using the old Logout rom, so I hope this is a bug fixing update.
Will post feedback when I test it out.

Hi logout,
I have to say you nailed this version nicely. fastest ROM ever.
good work dude. keep it up. thanks you.
imatrix
Agreed. This is a really fast ROM.
Congratulations Logout, you just won the speed crown that used to be held by Ivan v4R2.1.
One bug I've spotted with the inbuilt taskmanager - don't use the "cpu usage" option in the menus. It hardlocks the Today screen, only a reboot returns things to normal. This is not a fault of the ROM though, and I'm otherwise really pleased with this new taskmanager, waaay more detail.
When I use Logout previous version 5.4.01HN, i tryin to use my XDa2s as a USB modem, when i choose wireless modem in program and change connection type from serial to USB like the documentation from wiki, and click start, but its shows error and I cant use my XDA2s as USB modem.
And can you teach me how to connetc internet using incoming and outgoing port on blootoh ini your newest ROM.
Thanks Mr. Logout you the best.
I am testing this ROM and, as the latest one, is really fast. The only problem I've found by now is that the phone suddenly after a soft reset refuses to start. Clicking on the antenna icon shows it is "Out of service", and there is no way to make it work again but hard-resetting the device (losing everything in the process, of course).
Maybe I'm doing something wrong? Can anybody help here?
Anyway, thanks for your work Logout.
thanks a lot
let's enjoy and debug it!!!
Great So Far!
Well, so far:
* excellent speed
* the voice speed dial works great with my Jabra 250 BT, HOWEVER it seems when I'm in a call only the audio out works on the hands free, you have to put your mouth next to the phone mic to have any chance at the conversation. Further testing pending
* active sync worked flawlessly
* Bluetooth still does not remain on during standby :-( ... the never ending curse continues!
that's all the testing I have for now, will try some more, but so far so good!
Thanks... logout ... i love u rom... Great job!
Thanks for Sharing
hi, all
i have reflash by ba an d now everything is ok..
just like to say that the speed is fantastic on this rom... thanks
and seens to be very stable.. i will continue test and report if i find a issue.
thanks again.
great ROM, but, after soft reset, it looses the time and settings(various registry changes i make like registering resco explorer and some other apps). WMP10 behaves a little odd in beginning of any song.
But, as said above, the ROM is indeed stable and works like a charm irrespective of the bugs mentioned above
kudos to LOGOUT

Task manager I extract from Hima 2.03, maybe CPU USAGE work in BA not well. Download new version & copy to windows\
If use backup built-in to restore data, after restore don't press OK to reboot immediately - wait a few minute to update registry then reboot.
A couple of things that I have noticed...
First of all.. Well done... The Rom seems to be very stgable, and damn fast!
OK.. a couple of bugs... (well.. maybe just me being an idiot!)
First.. I love the way that you have set the Ext_Rom to automatically install.. however.. why have you included the rst command in the config file?? would it not be easier to leave it out, and then power off and soft reset manually?
Second.. MS BT Stack & Wireless Modem.. Works great, about 85% of the time, and then reconnects saying PPP link protocol not connected in Windows.. hmm.. a quick radio reset and then it works again. It even connects WITHOUT the Wireless modem software!! (However, you need a soft reset or to activate flight mode to switch the phone back on!
SPB pocket Plus works fine,
The camera driver seems to work better than other versions i have seen, however i cant play back files that i have previousely recorded. They just show a series of still images!!
I installed a few games and stuff as well.. BTW Netfront 3 didnt work for me!
Keep up the good work!

Soryy, I found another bugs when i tryin WIFI in my class today. When I turn off, it on again, and again.
WiFi
Hi Logout
I installed your new version and started with testing. It's fast (exept PIE, but nothing new) und seems stable.
On my device, I got several problems with wireless:
Cradle-Issiue:
When my device is connected (and running) to the pc and I plug out the usb-cable, wifi won't work. Wireless is connected to my access-point, but no traffic, when trying surfin or sending/receiving.
When I power off the BA and then plug out the cable, wifi will work after powered on the BA. I use these also to prevent a soft-reset when I forgot to power off before unpluging.
Allways resuming:
When the device is powered off, while wifi was enabled, wifi will restart automaticly after power on. When wifi is disabled, it will also be restarted after the next power on.
The work-around for this: Set the "ResetOnResume" (HKLM\comm\tiacxwln1\Parms) Value to 1. For me its working.
Does anybody know, if the new ms-pushmail-service could be added on a BA?
Thanks for your work
Chris

Great rom Logout!
I it the fastest ported version, but has some bugs. When you enable speakerphone in phone mode the notification for it stays even after you ended call. I had some problems that i can not enable bluetooth and wifi , then softreset fixed this bug temporary
Crash
After trying to activate or deactivate wireless, my Qtek freezed. I had to softreset the BA:
The phone can't be activated. Also "no service" indicated, when clicking the antenna-icon - the same as bolopez wrote.
Also the Calendar, Contacts & Tasks can't be started (I synched them with the exchange-server). ActiveSync appearing, but not working.
Perhaps the problems could also be caused by activesync. When uncraddling the BA, it allways showed the icon with the two arrows in titelbar like in the state of connected with the pc.

I know there have been several posts about the GPS, and various tools for them but it seems that some people have problems either getting the GPS to start, or in my case getting it to stop. I've tried Google maps, Windows Live, Pocket Streets, and the Dell Navigator GPS Software (I'm a former Axim owner and had it still around).
the gps works, or atleast its worked once. it seems the various programs all have the same issue, they can start the GPS but not interface with it, and cant stop it when they're done leaving it to chew on the CPU. When the GPS program is no longer running and the GPS is still apparently going (flashing amber light next to speaker) the phone's performance drastically decreases.
I've not messed with the external GPS setting and have the GPSinit (which also starts but doesnt seem to close the connection)
any ideas?
Are you sure you are closing the apps properly after you have finished or are they in the background?
I've been running the stock AT&T Tilt rom, and with the task manager set to 'end programs by tapping "X" '
the task manager, and the wm6 memory program show no applications running (sometimes Activesync stays active) but i can see acticity on the Amber light.
a soft-reset 'fixes' it but i dont know why it stays open. the Dell program is the worst by far, but all of them seem to do it.
well, installing a new GPS software on top of the Tilt's software is what caused the issue.
anyone have a suggestion on how to repair what i think is an over-written file? not much to go on other than it was Dell GPS navigator software designed for WM 2003 and no software will recognize the installed GPS after.
GPS Test worked before, doens't work after. verified its settings didnt change
Uninstalled Dell but didnt reset with a soft-reset. I can do a hard-reset if needed, but i'd prefer to stitch it back together instead.
I would be very surprised if you could fix it without a hard reset. Unless you know the dll's etc that dell changed and the registry changes it made...
Good luck.

There are some GPS apps that are not good at closing GPS. Tomtom does but I notice some others don't. If you open sherpa's app and then use it's exit button hopefully it'll close it:

looking through the windows folder and system folders i couldn't pick out anything that had been changed to a pre-2005 file (age of the software) but that doesn't mean it didnt hit the registry as you pointed out. I'll do a hard reset/selective restore while at work and see if that helps.
Once i get it running though i'm going to try to leech my windows directory and do a registry backup if i can.

For the record, I have the same problem. In order to identify the problem it might help if I list the GPS-related programs I installed:
- Google Maps (never used yet)
- TomTom 6.03 (used, not problems)
- LocationSMS (never used yet)
- VisualGPSce (used couple of times; worked, but not sure if it caused prolems)
- Holux GPSViewer (used when I already had the problem described)
So it could be LocationSMS or VisualGPCce? What did you install?
Cheers,
Edward
Question -- I have TomTom on my Tilt ... it installs fine, and works fine ... however each time I start it up the sound is turned off .. .and I have to touch the screen, turn on the sound twice before the change in settings "sticks" and I get the voice giving me directions.
Any thoughts how I can fix this?
Mine does the exact same thing, otherwise it works perfectly. Running XDA Live 1.1 ROM...
That is the default function. You must always activate the sound after starting.

hate to tell you guys, but it's not the default. The sound is on when I fire up Tom Tom on my Tilt, I've never had any issue nor had to go into settings to turn it on before. Are you guys using a ROM other then the original one?
Default off on both my HK Kaiser & my AT&T Tilt. Don't know what to tell you.
Solution that works for me!
I have found that all I have to do is to rotate the volume wheel on the side of my Tilt and the sound gets turned on without having to go through the preferences menu. It will repeat the last direction when you do this but it doesn't bother me too much and it lets me know that the sound is enabled.
The same issues occur with the previous version 6.03
And on other PPCs as well (eg IPAQ hw6910).
But it does not happen always, so I deduce it's related to conflicts with other softwares.
And it certainly isn't a feature, as a previous poster suggested.
TT as a default always starts with sound ON.

I didn't have this problem until about 30 minutes ago, I received the Carcomm Cradle I ordered for the car, installed it, tried out TomTom and now I have the same problem as you.
Are any of you using a Carcomm Cradle?
The only other thing I changed before the sound problem is I bought a "Veripart 3-in-1 Converter HTC ExtUSB" so I can charge the PDA and listen to music using the 3,5 mm jack port.
I also have exactly the same problem, and solve it with the volume wheel. I also had this problem on my Hermes.
TomTom 'fixes'
FWIW, not sure why, but the volume wheel never solves my problem in a predictable fashion, so I've went and found the following apps that make things easier:
TomTom Menu Builder -- Change the location of where the 'Turn on sound' or any button shows up in the menu for faster access. e.g., I've placed my 'Turn on sound' button on page 1 with 'Navigate to' and 'exit application'. The menu also allows you to enable all sorts of 'hidden' menus, with the most useful being the voice preferences menu, which lets you choose how verbose the speaker is. Alternatively, if you're not up to installing the menu builder, you could download my TomTom menu (see attached). Either way, place TomTom.mnu in \TomTom\SdkRegistry.
TomTom Starter -- Make your phone volume max and turn off all notification popups before starting TomTom. Reverses volume and notification changes after exiting TomTom. Great for when you forget that your phone is on vibrate or at a low sound setting.
BTW, its not the ROM that is the problem, it most likely has to do with TomTom. I'm using 6.03, non-taster edition.
The sound will be muted when you start TomTom with a data connection active. If you disconnect your data connection (G, 3G or H) before starting TomTom the sound should be on.....

Thanks michi123, I seem to recall reading about this in another thread. However, that's still yet another application (comm manager) and button I need to press before starting TomTom.
It's much easier for me to use the two applications I've included, as I'll need to go into the menu anyway to enter my navigation point and should I forget to turn off vibrate or crank up my volume, TomTomStarter fixes that for me...

Excellent! That works. And unless you have changed the functionality of your end button (like in the xda ROM) it is pretty quick to hold down the red end button (to close all data connections) before opening TomTom.
But it's not very effective when you're using a converged device, right?
I mean, would you turn off your phone every time you'd want to load TT, and then have to remember to turn it back on (while still inside TT)?

All holding down the end key does is cancel all active data connections .. it does not "turn off" the phone (unless you happen to be on a call). So yes, if you want to tun TT when you are on the phone, this solution will not work, but if you want to run TT when you are not actively speaking, holding down the end key first solves the sound problem. Then, you can still make and receive calls and, for that matter, you can still use data programs too, all with TT running.
Very useful thread, I've just updated mine and my G/Fs TyTns, we both have exactly the same ROM and RADIO, hers starts with Volume on, Mine starts with Volume off, the only real difference is that we're on different service providers, we both have MS ActiveSync running against our different corporate Exchange servers, and I have reduced my connectivity to GPRS to save battery. Will give the Tweaker app a go and see what happens. Sh
Alex. What version of tomtom are you running. I cannot get the menu file to work with my version 6.032(8351) no taster version.
Hi guys,
I just wanted to post on here cos I noticed some information that I didn’t agree with and also I have tested what others have said and it works so I thought I would say thankyou in one breath and bugger in another.
I have tested TomTom 6.031 SDK version on a HTC TyTN2, Glofiish, HP614c, HTC p3300 and a HTC Cruise and all of them start TomTom with the sound muted if they have a data connection active!
Sound is not muted at start-up if there is no data connection. This is great to know as I was baffled by it all but it also causes me a pain in that I need the data connection all the time, so I think its a mistake if TomTom themselves presume otherwise.
I have a XDA Orbit 2 on order but I am guessing it will be the same with that. I dont remember this issue with Windows Mobile 5, but it happens for sure on 6.
Also I have an issue with the 6.031 SDK and the unmute function call doesn’t appear to work!
Ho hum... so many devices with the same issue....
Ram
I have to admit I made a slight error in my statement above, I hadn’t tried it on the HTC p3300 and got the same result, it would appear that the HTC p3300 is the only device out of the many I have tried that doesn’t switch to silent when loading TomTom while a data connection is active.
I am trying to work out why this is as I am running the same software installation on all the devices.
i have search high and low today for this, and i don't recall if i did something before to shut this down. i just did a hard reset and now i've got this problem.
direct push / activesync seems to be forcing my WLAN connection on automatically. prior to my hard reset, this wasn't happening.
basically, when i put my phone in flight mode, or if the phone is off and i'm using the WLAN connection then turn it off, it pops back on w/in a few seconds or a few minutes. it seems to occur when activesync attempts to do a sync w/ my exchange server.
can't seem to find much on this subject, but is there some setting i've forgotten to make after my hard reset, or a registry tweak to set this so that if my phone is off and WLAN is off, that activesync and direct push cannot turn it back on...i want it to be manual only, nothing automatic.
thanks,
chris
EDIT...sorry...AT&T Tilt, Stock ROM (update from earlier this year). I'm running Schap's Comm Manager as well, but can't see how that would matter.
Also made some changes using Schaps Adv Config tool, but nothing to the activesync / direct push / wlan entries that I recall...
Hi,
My blackstone connect to the internet service automatically draining my prepaid load.
Is this the same in all the WM 6.5?
WM6.1 doesnt do this. It only connects when I need it.
Does anyone have a fix on this. No push internet doesnt seem to solve this problem in my HTC BS.
Thanks

Because that was not the root cause ...
Actually the cause of the so called problem is a lack of understanding of the basic WM and HTC data connection settings and more specifically the way the two operate together, or don't in this case. In fact there really is no problem and nothing specific to the WM6.5 ROMs. This auto data connection behavior existed in my stock WM6.1 ROM way back in the dim old days.
Let me try to explain it this way.
First thing to understand is that there are two controls for Data Connection. A HTC TF3D/Sense one which everyone knows as Comm Manager. The second deeper level one is the WM6.X one which you will find at Settings > Connections > Connections > Advanced > Select Networks > Your Cellular Operator Settings (GPRS Settings).
The second thing to understand is that when you do a hard reset as you must when you flash a ROM, the Auto Connection Setup process will automatically select for you and set the GPRS settings on by default. So, deep down there, WM6.x has set you up to use a data connection automatically whenever your mobile needs a data connection and your WiFi is disabled. This happens for example if your email is set to auto download every so many minutes. Remember, email is a WM6.X service.
The third thing to understand is that the HTC Comm Manager really only controls data connections from the HTC interface, ie. TF3D/Sense. For example, if you do a weather update, this is a TF3D/Sense service. So if you turn off Data Connection in Comm Manager it will just turn off data connections to the interface. But lets say your email does an auto send and receive, because the WM6.X GPRS setting is enabled, a data connection will take place regardless of what you did in the Comm Manager.
So how to get around this problem? Easy! Go to the WM6.X setting for Connections that I pointed out above. After entering 'Select Networks' use the drop down box to select 'My Work Network' in the upper setting for programs that automatically connect to the internet. This will totally disable your data connection and it will not turn on again until you do the reverse.
Now, to turn data back on, you don't need to go into WM settings. You will find that the Comm Manager is sort of connected to the WM6.X setting. Turn on Data Connection in Comm Manager and you will find that it brings up the WM6.X Connections settings so that you can go to the drop down box and re-enable your Cellular operator's settings for GPRS. After clicking OK a few times you will end up back at Comm Manager where you turn on Data Connections. If you skip this last step, it will turn on automatically anyway when a program calls for a data connection.
Now the quirk is that Comm Manager is not connected to the WM6.x settings in the same way when you want to turn Data Connection off in Comm Manager. In other words it does not take you back to the WM connection settings when you turn it off as it does when you turn it on. As I showed you above, you have to do it the long winded way and dig deep into WM6.x Connection settings to turn off your cellular data connection. Yes sure, Comm Manager could definitely have been better built in this regards. But it has been like this since day 1.
Programs such as NoData which some chefs cook into their ROMs provide shortcuts to reach those deep WM Connections settings. But frankly, once you know where to find the settings, it becomes second nature and I have never had the need to use NoData.
Anyway, hope this helps.
i loved yr explanation but: i had never this "problem" in WM6.1 even when i always kept the "programs that automatically connect to the Internet......" settings to "orange 3G" (my portal) and only the "programs that automatically connect to a private network..." on "My Work Network".
after 5-6 years of heavy WM use (look at my sig/list of devices) this is the first time i encounter this problem.
I think Clicking on a Nodata shortcut would be much faster than going through all those steps. I hope a solution is found soon. But all ROMs I have tried have this same problem. no mail accounts setup nothing. It still try's to connect.
Turn off my location settings. Also check if "automatically update weather" is turned off.
Did the trick for me on all 6.5 ROM's.
Workaround:
1. Before flashing any Rom, remove the Sim card.
2. After flashing, uncheck "Enable Auto Configuration" from connection setup.
3. Put Sim card back and have a peace of mind.

Heh ... if you did it this way you won't have any MMS (unless you put it in manually) or Data connection when you want to turn it on.

Yep ... NoData is a solution.
I kind of grew into the habit of drilling down for the GPRS setting from the days when ROMs were not cooked with NoData or equivalents. Problem with these shortcuts is that for some it meant that the basic WM settings were never learnt, so when something goes wrong or a chef does not cook it in, the user gets lost. This is the same problem with the MMS connection issue in M2.5. The cause of the problem here, from my own experience, is with the updated WM Connections Auto Config putting in the wrong MMS access point settings. So when that happens, those who never learnt how to do it manually in WM get stuck.

This does not work for me. I have tried any of the turn off methods and nothing has worked. Going to try what abwyatt has suggested and see if this helps. To me this is a real big problem for some people. Even for me I have a 20 hr data plan for 1 month for about 7.00 USD after that it charges by the mb. Just last night on my last flash I was tired and forgot to enable nodata and woke up this morning and the data connection had been active for 9 hrs.

I would differ on that. It is directly related to problems with WM 6.5 ROM's. And not only as users but as cooks we are looking for answers as well. Moving to General section just assures the problem will not be addressed by our cooks here that may find a solution.
Just my opinion

Point taken and I agree with your comments above. To to show users that we Mod's do listen as well, I will happily move this thread back to rom development
Thank you, and it's good that you see both sides.
I disabled mine from Settings>Data Services>ActiveSync>Sync data automatically
Now I only get auto connected after soft reset, then just disable from Comm Manager>Data Connection>Off and it doesn't connect by itself anymore
But still works when needed for weather mail etc.
Just to put my 2 cents on the table here. All wm6.5 roms I've tried have had this and I generally install NoData for quick fix, but after a period of time it started to bug me. So upon further investigation it did turn out to be an app seeking automatic update, whether it was email, QuickGPS, weather, stock, facebook, activesync or some other app. Having gone through all these apps or whatever apps installed on rom and then disabling them, the problem seizes to exist. The confusing thing is that it is not consistent, i.e. with different rom's it appears to be a different app which caused the issue!!
I've tried ROM like PhamQhuang, MaryOne etc. I think the problem is from HTC sense, if we switch to HTC sense off or set to windows default the auto connection working well (not reconnect when we off data connection)
