Hi @ all !
There´s a thing very annoying in the new Kaiser... You cannot use any belt-pocket with magnetic closers !
After setting the phone to standby via one short press on power button, I found it back turned on again, everytime I took it out of the belt-pocket.
First I thought, that this must be the keyboard slide mechanism, cause the phone also comes back, when you slide out the keyboard, but I kept an eye on it, not the move the slider while putting it into the pocket and back out again. Then I thought, that it was the light sensor, but some tests made me sure, that it must be something else.
Finally I found out, that it turns back on again, cause I´m still using the belt-pocket of my old TyTN I with the 2 magnets as closing mechanism... If you try and hold a magnet over the keyboard in the area of S,D,E,X,F or even on the back side in the same area and move it around just a little bit, the phone turns on... Crazy, but true !
Now I know, why they gave that awful new belt-pocket with the tape-closer to the Kaiser...
Hope that helps
Marco
It is partly related to keyboard... it has a magnetic sensor that it is activated when keyboard is released, so the magnet from your holster tricks the sensor into believing keyboard is out, so it activates screen.
I guess thats why they have the velcro closer on the one that is shipped with the phone. This is somthing to consider when buying a nice Piel Frama one.
Absolutely it's the keyboard magnet operated switch that does it. But, I know you can run a magnet (let's say the case magnet ) over the d-pad area (seems to do it on mine) and the Kaiser will turn on. - However, I have been using the TyTn case also and I have not noticed it turning on just by sliding the Kaiser in and out. In fact I have just sat here and put it in and out every which way (for the last ten minutes) and it has not come on.
Maybe your magnets are stronger than mine or your keyboard switch more sensitive? I am also not keen on that "tape" closing on the new case.
Mike
lol i wish i would have read that some place, i thought it was the keyboard some switch but didnt think they would use a magnet, it was pissing me off a lot while i was driving, now i know i found on my own, but the magnet that i have is shielded a bit, but still just the right position and it will trigger the switch
I sure hope this was posted some place in a FAQ or wiki, if not it should be and if it was, then shame on me for not reading that part or noticing it
Magnetic sensor via magnet in holster.
Just found out this "feature" with a BB holster...
Has anyone found a way to exploit/use this feature to turn-on the device when removed from the holster?
That is something I always envied with my wifes Blackberry.
I've noticed this too
I have the same problem, but since mine is set not to wakeup when the keyboard slides open I can't see how the magnet could be the culprit.
I had the same problem with my Nokia and Kaiser.....Never thought it was because of the magnet sensor in the device....To tell the truth...I didnt know that it had one inside.....Thanks for the info....
Would it affect the sensor in anyways....if it doesnt, I can actually use this "feature" so my phone is awake each time I pull it out of the belt case......
Hi,
When I pull my stylus - nothing happens... doesn't turn on or unlock device.
or during a call opens "notes".
Everything is Checked - it should do it, but it won't...
Any Ideas ???
Thanks
Take out the stylus, then remove the rear panel from your diamond. Look to see if the tiny magnet strip has become dislodged. This happened to mine after I'd had it just two days... it made it difficult to insert the stylus, and it just felt all wrong, because the strip had stuck itself in an awkward position. It also wouldn't recognize when the stylus was withdrawn.
I very nearly returned my diamond under warranty, until I looked closely at the stylus aperture and noticed this issue. I fixed it with a tiny spot of super glue on the magnetic strip and deft use of some plastic tweezers... saved days of re-programming a replacement.
Mr. Orange owes me a beer I reckon ;-)
Thanks for the reply...
The magnetic strip is there... I feel the magnet working...
but the diamond doesn't recognize when its in or out...
Anyone ?? Help - is it hardware or software ????
also a problem with the magnet strip
I own my diamond now for three weeks and something went wrong with the magnetstrip..it looks like it is still inplace but the magnetic force is stronger on the outside of the phone then on the inside (where its supposed to be) I'm trying to move te strip in the right position. but is not working.(seems like te strip is in the correct position)
It just happened. Really annoying..The phone goes on when I remove the stylus. (and the stylus is holding , but I don't get "the magnetic snap anymore"

shalom! go to:
settings/personal/phone/advanced (tab)/"when a call is connecting, open the Notes application when stylus is pulled out"
also in the diamond's manual
Hi.
One of the main attractive things of the Kaiser is the ability of tilting the screen (well, GPS and keyboard are nice but now are quite common).
Mi Kaiser screen hinges seem to have softened/worn out, for the screen hardly keeps in place, and the slightest vibration or movement makes the screen to lay flat.
Does somebody know a way to tighten it back ?
PLEASE!!
Thanks in advance.
David.-
Yeah same thing happened to mine, you have to take it apart and tighten the 4 screws that hold the hinges in place to the keyboard portion of the body. Mike Channon has a really good disassembly instruction manual on here if you search for it, and its really not hard to do.
Ok so corner of my bottom cap started to peel of.. its small thing but it makes me mad so Ive ordered navi cap from the internet.. disambled diamond and removed complete bottom keypad but I cant figure out how to that replace cap. I found HTC Touch Pro manual where they say something about putting it to oven for 5min.. Guess its glued but my question is how I could put new bottom keypad cap back ? Glue I guess but how exactly anyone have done that ?
Hi guys
for a couple of days now my battery cover doesnt properly fix anymore. You know how when u put it back on you have the two golden hooks at the bottom of the battery place on the x1 - it seems that the left one of these two hooks doesnt hold anymore cause it is at that spot that the cover is lose and consequently keeps falling off all the time.
hope this was somehow clear
any idea how to fix this?
I had this issue with the first 2 X1's I purchased. If you cannot get a replacement just simply try squeezing together at the two clip points so that they grip the phone tighter when applied. Alot of people have had this issue and there have been alot of threads created about this, if this is no help then hit up the search bar.
i just slightly bent the metal side flaps inwards lightly to make the little flat bits press into thier sockets better. the gold things are contacts. i'm guessing to detect if the cover is removed or to make the backplate act as a grounded shield. but non the less they don't do anything for holding the backplate in place it's all down to those 2 little flat bits that grab spots on the side plastics
