everytime i start my htc kaiser as soon as it goes to the home screen it freezes...is there anyway that i can open it up in safe mode or something??
spb pocket plus adds a safe mode function but the device has to be able to turn on fully to install it and activate the feature.
Try booting it up without your memory card and sim card inserted and see if that helps.
If not, i guess you'll have to hard reset your device.

Hey,
I had gotten to sample the HTC Touch Diamond...and thats all. I got it as a gift from overseas (so its a GSM -simcard- phone). Long story short, I didn't want to buy the phone from the local wireless provider because I'd be stuck with them. I open up the HTC box, turn on the phone, calibrate, take a few pics, and then I decided to put in a simcard. The phone was on at the time and I wanted to make a few phone calls to test out the new phone. I have no idea what happend, but the phone just turned off. I turn it on, and there is no lights, no screen, however the phone did turn on (i felt the vibration, and heard the startup sound). I took out the battery, and put it back in a couple of times and I finally got to turn on the screen and lights, however i recieved a werid message, and it didnt seem that my buttons at the front were working right (they worked fine before when i took pics and listend to the demo music), so I unplugged the battery and put it back in..Since then I have not been able to turn on my screen.
Here is how I know the phone is on, but there are no lights and no screen:
1. the boot up vibration
2. the bootup music
3. the volume up and down
4. I am able to touch the screen to turn up and down the volume.
5. When I put in a simcard, the phone does a ring every min or so (I have no idea as to the cause as i cant see error messages)
Now this is what I did to try to fix it:
1. I tried soft reset , however pressing the reset button does not seem to make the phone restart as i can turn up and turn down the volume no matter how long i press the reset button
2. I tried a hard reset, that doesnt seem to work either. (btw im guessing the confirmation message screen and pressing the volume up key) I think that the reason why steps 1 and 2 are not working, is because the phone does not seem to want to restart!
3. I tried taking out the battery and putting it back in..but i never did it for longer than a minute
4. I tried to update the rom, however the rom update application gives me a "Connection error" even though i have my phone plugged in. If i am supposed to set the connnection up from the inside then nm i cant do it cuz i cant see a thing.
5. I tried charging the phone (through USB and the power outlet)
Does anyone have any idea what happend? how can HTC Touch Diamond go from new to blank screen in about 5 minutes of usage?
plz give me all suggestions u can come up with...plz try to help me. Ive been waitign 2 years for a good phone, and now that I have one, I cant use it. Help me!
remove the sim card and see if it acts normal.
is it already unlocked?
the sim card has been removed, reinserted , and removed again.. yes the phone is already unlocked as the simcard apparently worked ( i made a phone call and the phone rang)
has no one ever come across my problem?
bumping...
Hi
I was trying out some of the samsung today plugins when my device froze(if i touched the screen or the hardware buttons it would still make a noise). I reset my diamond, it started up I then put my password in clicked unlock and now my diamond wont boot past the windows green splash screen. If I push the power button off then on again I end up in the same situation as before(if i touched the screen or the hardware buttons it would still make a noise and the wheel would light up).
Can someone please help me to fix this problem. I hope there is another way than a hard reset as I would not like to lose my programs and data on the 4gb memory.
Thank You
Can anyone help?
just found something else. when my diamond wont go any further and I plug it into my pc it comes up as mass storage. Ive tried pressing the touch screen to try get it into active sync but it will not work. I also discovered if i hold down the power button to turn the diamond off the warning box comes up. This is getting very weird. Is there a way to make the phone go into active sync mode?
From previous experience if it won't go past the boot screen and a soft reset hasn't helped it will be a hard reset. The good news is that all information on the internal storage drive will be safe and not removed.
Good Luck
My mem card will only read if slide is out. when I close phone it wont run any programs that are on it and it wont show up in any file manager/??? any ideas. also if I reboot the phone with slide closed sometimes screen goes white but if open its fine but its been doing that forever just started with the mem card thing . any help needed
Sounds like the cable to the screen (and card slot) is broken.
is there a way to fix it ? it does work if screen is open ..
I tried to install one the OTP i think v7.7 to my phone and it accidently disconnected. Is said repair so i did all that but now everytime i turn my phone on it say Open touch project and then it freezes. Is there anyway I can fix this??
anyone??????
It also allows me to do the Hard Reset but it still goes back to the open touch project and freezes
Does the phone connects to ActiveSync via USB before freezing and/or does it remains connected after freezing?
you can put your phone into bootloader mode (hold camera button first then power on the phone while keeping the camera button pressed) once you are in bootloader mode, you can start the RUU again
I really don't how how this problem has cropped up. Have had my TyTN II for the past 6 months and suddenly today afternoon it was off when I tried to use it. While turning on, it went upto the Green Windows Mobile 6.1 screen and then it simply turns off. What is the problem? Have tried a hard reset and still have the same problem.
Have you tried re-flashing your phone, with the original manufacturers rom.
enter bootloader by holding the camera button and pressing soft-reset.
then try connecting via USB and running your manufacturers rom update.
this will wipe all your data, but chances are, if you have already hard-reset then you will have lost all data.
I had made no changes to the ROM. It had the stock HTC Windows Mobile 6.1 ROM included.
try taking out the sim and sd card, then hard reset.
OK, it boots up without the SIM Card but not with the SIM card. Tried another SIM card but same problem. What could be the problem? My SIM card is working fine on other phones!

Is the sim card door locked and closed properly? There's a little microswitch that shuts down the device if it senses the door isn't locked it's possible for this to not be correctly aligned with the lock pin (ie not in the groove). Turn it off and take a good look at the mechanism and you'll see what I mean.
Additionally, you mention you'd tried a hard reset - did you try this with the sim and memory card out from within WM? Did the process complete properly?
I tried booting with 2 other sim cards and with them it says that there is no sim inserted. With my original SIM, it simply shuts off at the green windows mobile screen.
@Flying Kiwi, Yes, the SIM door is closed properly with that little notch extended to the right. The hard reset was done not from with WM but by the method given in the manual i.e keeping the 2 soft keys pressed and hitting the reset pin. This was done at the Smart Mobility screen with SIM and Memory Card inserted. The process did complete properly but while booting it shut off. So I removed the SIM and this time it went all the way to the screen alignment page and customizing stage. Now, it does not work with any SIM card but boots up fine without SIM.
I'm completely at a loss.
It could be a bad sim holder (surely there is a better word) or something like that. I would suggest playing around with it by opening the keyboard and then applying pressure on the door while it boots.

It was a long shot because with my TyTN II if I try that (with the WM 6.0 ROM) it gets all the way into WM and pops up a message about the sim door saying it'll shut down in 10 s - making it very clear - I've never tried it under WM 6.1 though.
Now, it does not work with any SIM card but boots up fine without SIM.

Could still be some sort of ROM corruption so what I'd like you to try is to remove BOTH the sim and memory card and boot into WM then perform a hard reset from within WM (settings -> System tab -> Clear Storage) and see if that runs right through to the end - then power off normally by holding down the power button and tapping yes. Then put in just the sim (that used to work fine with this phone) and start up again. Let us know how that goes Also have a look for any dirt/contamination in the sim slot as best as you can see, and on the sim itself.
