Do you have any experience with Kaiser falling on the ground from - let's say 1.5 meters?
Every of my prevous phones hit the ground at leas one time (happens!). They were simple cellphones, not smart- or palm- ones. Single fall meant nothing for these devices.
What about Kaiser and its keyboard? I'm scared that first fall will be the last (death).
(Please don't answer with suggestions like "try not to drop it", ok?)
Hate to admit it but I've dropped mine a number of times. Once on cement, that scratched up the sides a bit but that's all. Other times the battery cover has come off but that's all.
Much stronger than the Blue Angel was. I dropped that phone and that was the end of it. In my mind this phone gets an A in structural design.

dropped it numerous of times.. but only when i had it seated in its leather pocket belt.. while running, while lifting stuff, etc.
yep, mine has wacked the sideway a few times, just surface scraches. i bet if i really tired i could fill the divits in with some plastic modeling compund, sand and touch up with paint and you would nver know the diffrence.

Only dropped it once, from about waist height onto concrete. It stayed together, and only suffered a few scratches.
My old HTC Universal was dropped several times, it never suffered more than cosmetic damage.
I think it would be more likely that either phone could suffer more damage from a drop than a normal cell phone, simply because of the larger screen. But I went through several Ipaq's that seemed to self destruct from 30cm drops onto carpet. The total lack of cosmetic damage meant i managed to get away with having them replaceed under warrenty from the big name shop I bought them from since they couldn't 'see' any damage. In comparison, the Kaiser seems a like a Sherman tank...just don't go out trying it!
I'm kind of worried about this... My k750i survived numerous drops onto concerete, followed by being kicked as it fell, causing it to cartwheel accross the floor. The Kaiser doesn't seem *that* robust, to the extent that I bought a payg sim to put in the k750i to take out with me when excessive alcohol consumption will be involved.
I haven't dropped mine once. I don't know but I protect this more than the iPhone I had. . . I almost dropped it but I caught it and it was like 3-4 feet. Seems structurally strong and not the empty plastic feeling.
Would any know where we can get the replacements parts for HTC Tilt 8925 without the front camera?
I dropped mine also. The sad thing is that I dropped it with the HTC case. HTC case does not provide protection on the sides, so I have a good indentation on the bottom right corner of the front face plate. It is right below the OK key.
It bothers me, but the phone is still good as new after the drop.
I have a bunkbed here at school, knocked it off of that a couple times, which is a good 5 foot drop. i've also fallen on it a few times while freelining. (look it up) not a scratch on it, other than from the crap NuShield screen "protector".
dropping it seems ok but dont twist it I had mine in my suit breast pocket when I took it out the screen was broken had to replace the screen the tech said it was probly from bending over and putting pressure on the screen

Got my HD2 couple months back and using it with silicon cover since beginning but now I want to take the cover off and show the real beauty of the phone to everyone but I am too scared to take the silicon cover off because I am clumsy and I drop my phone way too frequently.
I know the phone looks very durable but exactly how durable is it??? can people share some experiences like oh I dropped it from 5ft and it was intact or oh I dropped it from 2ft and the screen broke etc etc.
I used to have HTC Kaiser/tilt and I dropped it way too my times without any covers but it never gave up on me.
PS: I know there is no real way to define durability of a cellphone but u know there are some cellphones which are really delicate and u have to handle them with extra extra care. While there are some like the kaiser who are made for rough use. Just want to know which category our HD2 belongs to?

I've used mine without any sort of protection since the day it was released in US (end of March). It does not have a single scuff, mark, or scratch anywhere. I just dropped it for the first time a week ago from a counter roughly 2.5 feet onto a hard tile floor and still no scuff, mark, or scratch (I don't know how it fell as it was dark when it happened and I was looking in a different direction; turned my head while headphones were plugged in so it pulled it off the counter).
I'm extremely happy with the durability of the HD2.

Ive had my HD2 since Nov last year...
No cover no protection.. and it looks like new.. I dont know how you managed to break the screen twice.. you probably throw that phone in some weird angles.. but really does last well!
dropped mine from my lap getting out of my low car onto the bitumen and fell back down perfectly flat. absolutely smashed the screen but 2 months later its still working fine and waiting for it to die before replacing the screen. i work installing solar panels (PV) on roofs, crawling though ceilings, etc. sees alot of abuse so while the screen smashed the components inside are well placed. had it before america could get it (in australia)
i got it since 10 months now, without any cover. screen is absolutely clean, but the rest looks a bit used, but not that bad
a friend is using it without respect. throwing it over the table and such things, he never broked something on the phone.. the screen stopped working one time and he needed it to replace cause that, but it didnt break xD
another friend broke his screen when his hd2 fellt on a freakin spoon on the floor (WTF did that spoon on the floor?)
Had it 2 1/2 weeks, no scratches, no scuffs. Just annoying dust under the screen
I have mine almost a year now.
A few weeks ago he started acting weird. Screen flipped sideways and putted speaker on.
I've send it to repair and they replaced the motherboard. Everything is ok now again.
No scratches after such a long time with no screen protector.
ive dropped mine once from about 3 fet and it only made a slight scuff on the corner
ive always had a screen protector but never any other protection and it looks great for the past 4 months

If you get dust under the screen, then it is a factory defect. Since the screen is glued to the LCD, somewhere around the edge it's not completely sealed. I have had mine for 7 months now and I do not have even ONE spec of dust under the screen, and I carry it in my pocket without any protection at all, all the time.

When I say dust, I mean there were a couple of hairs in the screen when I got it. They don't affect any viewing pleasure so I didn't return it
So I recently lost my precious XZ... I was at a tennis match had began to hyperventilate due to a medical problem... When I got off the bus, I was so dizzy, I didn't grab it. Thankfully, the bus driver had it.
Today, right after I got it back, it slipped out of my hand onto the front porch. It landed right on it's face. Luckily, only the back glass cracked.
My question is, is it at all waterproof anymore? I've cracked the sides before and pieces chipped off, but it was still waterproof... If it's not anymore, would it be possible to have the back replaced and restore the water resistance?
So I like just about everything about the Sony Z compact line of phones but durability wise I have been unlucky. My first Z3 compact died from water damage and my 2nd one has a screen that is ready to fall off the device.
I choose to buy a HTC U11 to replace my Z3 compact as I have never owned a HTC phone before and thought I would try something different.
What I would like to ask here though is it worth trying to fix the Z3 compact to sell or not?
The only way to protect this phone:
The phone bends 0.1mm causes the phone screen to start opening. So it's not suitable for jeans pockets.
I remedied this by using an anodized aluminium bumper and tempered glass both sides.
Sony does a very bad repair of it's phones, and the issues will return, and their parts are expensive.
It is better to do it yourself and use B7000 glue, use plenty, easily removable for future repairs, no heat, clothes pegs, wait 48 hours before removing pegs or turning on the phone. And look for the best grade of screen with frame, Sony uses two manufacturers for its screens.
My Z3C has a screen that is lifting. This thread and others seem to indicate that fixing the screen is not hard but hardware is not my thing at all...
Would a phone repair place (in a shopping centre) be able to do this kind of repair? Is the phone much different to other phones that people would take in for screen replacements?
I don't care about the loss of waterproofing. The screen isn't even falling out, just lifted in the corner. I don't want to send the phone anywhere and be without it, or have it come back changed in unexpected ways...

Phone shops including Sony themselves have difficulty in repairing this particular phone, I think any phone shop can do this repair, but, they must use the B7000 glue or similar, or silicone, and not the red tape they usually use, it's useless, as this phone can heat up, or the blue z3c ready cut tape is not so good either. And if you get the wrong screen (clone), the colours will not be as good.
Many phone repairers have the clone screens that are thicker than the original.
The screen sometimes is actually bent, along with the body, check on a flat surface.
Always buy a good screen together attached with the body, and never by itself.
So armed with this knowledge and or hardware, you could go talk with a phone repairer... The first 3 times, shop, but maybe the fourth repair, try doing it yourself, it's as easy as opening a PC, just smaller, just follow z3c repair guides and youtube, when you're ready. When attempting to repair the phone, for the very first time, do it over hours, maybe over the weekend, and not one sitting.
If you start loosing patience, leave it for a while etc.

I got so comfortable with opening my phone, I put extra 0.3mm copper plates on the processor and gpu with Cooler Master Extreme Fusion paste etc. Lol.
But it's good to have an already damaged motherboard to work on.

I put up with my screen for a long time but eventually the glue gave out and I had no choice. It was good, then bad, but ultimately ok.
I didn't have any trouble taking the glass off the first time because the glue was barely hanging on. I had a look and noticed that the headphone jack's glue was also failing. Probably why it was becoming unreliable. I glued that and reseated the screen cable and it worked fine while sitting there so I glued everything on again.
It was a poor first attempt. I had both too much glue (blobs that leaked out) and not enough to actually seal around much of the screen. No problem. I took the glass off again and glued it again. This time I followed the instructions closer and glued the front screen before connecting the ribbon.
The second gluing was good but something with the ribbon was wrong because it only worked when I pressed on the lower part of the screen. Sigh.
Taking the glass off after a good glue was much harder. I finally got the spudger under the glass but I moved it sideways before removing the suction thing. It was too much pressure for the glass. The good news is that it was the rear glass and only the bottom half shattered. I got the rest off and started on the front.
Now that I knew to be more careful, I got the front off OK. Reseat. Test and working. I glued the front on first again, without disconnecting the cable. Tested and working. I glued the half back I had on (covers the camera).
Its working!
I use a case so the back isn't even a problem, but I ordered a new back from China (cheap). The headphone Jack seems better. I put a new screen protector on. In some ways the phone is rejuvenated.
I was apparently not careful enough when taking off the screen though. I appear to have some marks on my screen now. It's minor, probably won't notice during normal use, but there if you look.
I'm so glad to have my phone back. I've been using an iPhone for the last 3 weeks.

I need to vent, I'm so pissed off. Back in January I got a Whitestone Dome when they were on sale. I was happy with my plastic protector at the time, so I didn't install it right away. Fast forward to last night...
I watched a solid dozen Note8 install videos on YouTube, have been reading for months on reddit and xda all the other threads, and executed my installation perfectly according to the directions. I even taped off the earpiece just in case. Not to brag, but I'm usually really good with this sort of stuff. It ended in disaster due to the poor quality control of this product and its company.
I have read quite a few horror stories on social media about Whitestone's products, but I assumed if I was very careful I could do a successful install. WRONG. The supplied vial of glue was way too much, and after perfectly applying the glue and dropping the glass on top, capillary action pulled the glue nicely across the screen and I was very pleased. It looked beautiful. After waiting the full 15 seconds top and 15 seconds bottom, I removed my Note8 from the tray as instructed. To my horror, TONS of liquid excess glue was dripping down the sides. My S-Pen was DRIPPING with glue! There was glue everywhere, even in the bottom of the plastic jig. AND THE SCREEN WAS STILL LOOSE! After trying my best to clean up that huge mess, I followed the instructions to do the "secondary" cure. AFTER MULTIPLE MINUTES UNDER THE SUPPLIED UV LIGHT, THE GLUE IS STILL WET! My phone STINKS of this chemical, and every crevice of it is oozing this glue that will not cure under the UV light. I was meticulous about everything, there is nothing I did wrong. And besides WHY WON'T THE GLUE FULLY CURE UNDER UV!? I used the supplied USB cable, and a powerful Samsung USB wall charger so I know the light isn't "weak." I will admit that the screen has stopped moving around as of today, so something has sorta cured. But the edges are still wet, and leave an oily residue when touched, and look furry because there is so much tacky, sticky residue still oozing out.
What a horrible mess. It took me hours to clean everything up, and there is still glue in every tiny crevice of my Note8. I hope I got my S-Pen out and wiped off in time - it's still working, for now.

My s-pen was in the whole time too, nothing got in mine so not sure why it did with yours. You're right though, even with the tape/sponges the glue still goes everywhere. I cured it a little before moving it, and that did help keep the screen in place. Then I cured a little more afterwards and let it sit for a while... You can just carefully rinse/wash off the excess glue after. End result was good in my case, but the process can definitely be a messy experience.

I know I read you can wash it off somewhere else, but I thought it was oily. Is it really water soluble? I feel like bathing my phone is only going to make things worse right now haha.

It definitely feels oily, but I didn't end up having too much trouble getting it off in the end. I just ran the faucet and used my hand to wipe away what I could, rinsed hand, and repeated. Maybe a drop of hand soap at the worst, but I don't remember now. Never put the phone directly under water though...why tempt fate .Thankfully I don't have to do that more often lol

What a nightmare. I fear using glue that might run down and block all my holes and crevices LOL.

I had this issue when I was installing the Whitestone Dome on my S8+.
The sides and back of the phone were dripping with the greasy ass glue.
However, I've had no issues since with my Note 8.
I would like to add that when i was applying it to the S8+ I don't think the surface was entirely flat- the tip I saw was to use the glue vials and put them on the table to see if they'd roll; I did this until I had a perfectly level table.
I managed to install the protector flawlessly on my Note 8 without any issues.
I'm sure if you contact Whitestone they'll be able to provide you with another vial if you've used both.
Are you certain that the screen was dry before you applied it?

But for my Note 8 the install was easy, no mess, no problems...... Went just like instructions
S-Pen still works, and I must say the glass looks fantastic. Edges aren't great, but I vigorously rubbed the sides in one direction with a cloth. Over and over, until eventually the ragged glue on the edges sorta wiped away. I'm sure there will be problems down the road, but it's good for now at least. I also used some scraps of tape to try to remove the excess tacky glue that didn't wipe away. Just have to remember to use 1/3 less glue next time. Maybe remove the vial right after removing the second cap, rather than waiting for it to completely empty out.
ive replace my whitestone twice already. never any issue with the install. I wish the glass was stronger though. First crack was a legit saved my phone. someone bumped me on accident and screen down onto a bunch of pebbles. left junks missing from the protector but totally safe screen. last one was fell of my bed and chipped of the whole top edges and a nice crack across. but.... still saved the phone so i'm loyal
I hate to necro this thread considering its two years old but I just had the same painful experience on my Note 10+ 5G LOCA somehow managed to leak into my SPen slot. If you're thinking of buying this screen protector. Don't. You're better off with nothing.
Edit: After re-registering my fingerprints for the 3rd time it is working much faster and the SPen has seemed to loosen up after repeatedly taking it out and putting it back in and now appears to charge just fine.
