Issue with internet access (https sites) - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

Hi all,
I seem to be having a problem accessing https sites via gprs / hspda.
Whenever I try to log on to say googlemail, I get the error
"The page you are looking for cannot be found due to unknown error 0x80072f78".
Ordinary internet browsing works fine.
Can anyone help? I have run a search, however this problem only seems to apply to others when accessing internet via activesync.
I am on T-Mobile UK, on an unlocked HTC Diamond. Running CT Rom 6.2 Full (I have tried various roms and radios, with no success).
Thanks

Also, I have an error syncronising with my IMAP4 googlemail acct?
Help would be gratefully appreciated!

activsync 0x80830003 error

Hopefully someone can help me. I have posted several times and no seems to respond. I might just change my name to the invisible man. I have looked through these forums and googled (on the web) for an answer. I flashed Dutty's latest Tilt rom and now I cannot connect to my server over the air through Activsync. I get a 0x80830003 error. I got this once before flashing an older version of Dutty's rom, but was able to fix it by unchecking the proxy connection. I have tried everything, including the cabs to disable hidden proxies and several other cabs provisioning the phone for ATT. Nothing has worked. Everything works and I can sync via USB, but just not over the air. I have two conections, Cingular GPRS (wap.cingular) and My ISP GPRS (isp.cingular). I can connect to the internet, but just not to my corporate server. Any ideas? Thanks,
i had the same thing. I just changed the internet network to MediaNet and unchecked the proxy server requirement and it started working again.

Is there even a REMOTE chance that you googled the error?

Did you try ID-RUNNER's fix?

activesync error 80072f78
yes I googled the error several times and tried a few forums. Thanks for your suggestion but I'm afraid it didn't work?!
Help...
Worked
Had the same issue as ptgptg. Id-runner's fix worked. Thanks.

HTTP proxy problem already solved?

Hi group,
I have the problem, that I cannot save my HTTP proxy settings permanently. Up to now I thought it was related to my T-Mobile brand, but after a firmware upgrade I found, that this must be a problem of the HTC itself. I'm now back on HTC original firmware, and still unable to keep the HTTP proxy settings saved. After hitting OK everything seems to be OK, but with the next opening of the settings the HTTP proxy setting is lost from the connection.
I should have googled before updating: The Google query "HTC proxy" brings tons of unresolved similar problem descriptions.
I have searched this forum but didn't find anything about this.
Is this a known problem? Is there a fix? Will WM 6.1 be a solution?
Regards
Ohh I get the same problem. I don't bother with the wifi connection that requires the proxy settings and just use HSDPA now. Running wm6.1, will give it a go on monday to see if 6.1 fixes the problem.
Hi stevierg,
no it doesn't unfortunately. I flashed dutty's WM6.1. The only change: The setting is kept under some circuumstances (WiFi adapter is connecting to "the work"), but is now not recognized at all... The internet access simply doesn't care...
It is rediculous: MS has - from the very first PDA version - that brain sick "The Work/The Internet" split up and they don't get a simple proxy configuration cooked, even in version 6.1. Unbelievable...
On the other hand - I tend to believe, that it must have to do with the specialilities of the HTC rom. I've got an ASUS device with WM6 too, and there is no such a problem...
Strange
Possibly found a solution

activesync error 80072f78

I upgraded to dutty's 6.1
I can sync to desktop by usb and to exchange by internet, but I can't sync to exchange by usb and get error message 80072f78 -

not trying to be rude or anything, but googling that error code came up with a wealth of info.
i know...
Thanks for answering;
I tried a) deleting proxy server - didn't work b) registry change - didn't work c) changing activ sync connection to internet from automatic - didn't work
It's stupid because I can sync to exchange via internet (just not via usb) so it's not a big deal - just annoying
I'm kind of stuck - more suggestions welcome
Heelppp - please
Are you running 4.5? Try uninstalling and reinstalling activesync.
If not, try this.
0x80072f78 but not the same circumstances
Hi
Hi
I tried searching for this error 0x80072f78 message and I don't seem to get this message under the same conditions listed in the posts that I've found. I am getting the message at random in PIE with either GPRS/3G or when connected by USB. I have no problems downloading mail but can't use anything else for data (google maps etc). It doesn't happen every time but is very spotty. ATT tech support was no help as usual. I applied the registry change in the posts that discuss this error in relation to USB/active sync only and it did nothing. I'm using the latest att rom.
Any suggestions would be welcome. I've followed all of the suggestions that I can for people that are having the problem with active sync only and that has done nothing. I still have the problem when connected to gprs/3g. I have yet to find someone else posting that has this problem with both.
Thanks
Well add me to that list then. A user I provide support for has an unmodified Hermes (yes I know this is the Kaiser forum) that was exhibiting this behaviour over the air. (But was fine over USB.)
It turned out that he had a proxy server configured on his 3G/GPRS internet connection (with T-Mobile) but that setting was no longer appropriate, due to changes made at the T-Mobile end. Switched off the proxy server setting and all was well again.

Thank the Lord for search functions - was having this exact issue and it was driving me NUTS! Anyway if you are having trouble syncing over gprs but not over USB then this is the fix! Thanks
Tasks Exchange
I get this error when tasks on my exchange (mail2web.com) account is active and my tasks on my AT&T Tilt is active. When I deactivate (options) the exchange tasks and the phone tasks, then activate only the phone tasks the error goes away.
Ciao

internet problem-cannot login secure sites?

Having a strange problem trying to login to secure sites whilst using my T-Mobile internet connection.
If i try to login to either home banking or even e-bay whilst using opera it just shuts down the browser and returns to the programs page within touch flo.
whilst using IE i get the message "cannot be found due to unknown error 0X80072f78"
probably just a setting that needs changing but i cannot find anything or anyone that has the same problem.
Its the same sim as i used in my hermes and my wizard and the problem is solved if i connect via wi-fi.
anyone have a solution?
BTW using duttys v1.8 but had same trouble with 1.5 and 1.6

SSL Broken?

My Diamond (MDA Compact IV) has recently (last few days) decided that it won't make any SSL-enabled TCP/IP connections.
Most obviously, HTTPS websites won't work. Opera quits when I try to load one, IE gives "unknown error 0x80072f78". Also, neither of my email accounts sync anymore (one Hotmail, so probably HTTPS, but the other is IMAP with SSL).
The same thing happens when connected by GPRS, HSDPA or Wifi.
I am currently running the "Shaks.P v4.00" (WWE) ROM, but I seem to remember something similar happening with T-Mobile's ROM before I reflashed.
Googling for the error has been fruitless, it seems that both ActiveSync and Windows Update (desktop) use the same error code to mean something different.
Anybody else encountered this issue? Any ideas for a fix?
