Tytn II VS Blackberry Storm - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

Hello folks,
I just want to give feedback of my change to a new phone. My first WM phone was a Tytn followed by a Tytn II. The last year I tried to get the most out of the phone as i could. I call myself a poweruser doing all my stuff with the device. I used BlackBerry Connect in combination with WM 6.1 and so I could sync my malis, contacts and calender. In edn of 2008 i got completely fed up! I tried ALL the custom roms out there .. and I have to say all of them are better than the stock roms, but among them they are all the same, one with more bugs others with less.
In combination the Tytn II with Blackberry the system is to slow! Sorry to say that.
Now I use a Blackberry Storm, and I have to say I am not regretting it.
for me the main features are :
click touch display !!!!
speed
comfort
For all of you who might want infos from me dont hasitate contacting me !
For all who use the phone for private use I think the TyTn will be the better choice !

Kaiser P4550 with TomTom Rider/Go

Hi there,
I'm new here, since I just got my new HTC Tytn II and registered here for info etc.
Although the Tytn II did replace my old Nokia 6680 and iPaq H3970 for some functions, I can't get it to work with my TomTom Rider 2nd Edition Europe.
I used the TomTom Rider with my Nokia to be able to make and receive phonecalls while on my motorbike.. always had fun with it. But now.. sigh!...
I tried everything, installed the BT_DUN.cab and copied the modemlink files into the Windows folder of my Tytn II.. but no results..
is the WM6 + Tytn II combo crap or is there another workaround/fix update orso?
Thank in advance..

Tested the Kaiser with a Garmin Zumo tonight.. worked flawlessly.. so should be an issue with TomTom?
Anyone? plzzzz...
Seems like I stand completely alone in this issue.. although.. on the forum here..
I have been calling with TomTom support for a few times.. and they are not giving any comment on this problem. I talked to a supervisor of the support-department and he said the development department wo'nt give any information about if they are working on this not-want-to-pair trouble with the TytN II and TomTom Go-Rider combo.
Since the TytN II does pair with a Garmin Zümo and even the phonebook synchronisez perfectly (where most of the Symbian phones don't) I also talked to the Dutch HTC support department about this if maybe they could work something out.
Garmin did provide a softwareupdate for their Zümo devices, where before that time the TytN II wouldn't connect to the Zümo as well.
Anyone with enough technical knowledge who has ideas about this? I really don't like to sell my Rider 2nd Edition for only maybe 200 Euros and have to buy a brandnew Zümo for 575 Euros, where I still have to buy an optional bluetooth Cardo Rider for my helmet, since TomTom Rider comes with one.
Anyone?
Tried everything so far.. nothing..
I just can't believe this sjit.
always best to do trial and error with gps providers before sticking to 1 or 2 and forking money over for nothing

SMS back up to PC..

Hi friends, i'm going to buy diamond, when it's get's available from next friday in India. I have been using only Nokia NSeries phones for past few years. I have backed up my sms since last 5years through Nokia Lifeblog software on to my Laptop.. The HTC Touch Diamond will be my first WM phone..
Is there a facility / Software by which i can archive my sms onto a PC from the diamond? Read in reviews WM / HTC can't do it..
Have liked so many features of WM, but this one is a crutial feature, i would be too glad if we can do it..
Thanks in advance..
I use Jeyo Mobile Extender with Outlook.
Regards,
Chiron
Thanks Chiron83.. I'll Keep that in mind..

Using the Diamond HSDPA connection on a laptop?

Hello there,
I'm a previous WM device owner, last device was HTC Wizard.
I currently have a Nokia N95 and i'm planning to get the Diamond when its released on T-Mo in a few weeks.
I connect the N95 to the laptop a lot to get internet on the move, can anyone confirm if this is a featrure supported by the Diamond / WM 6.1
I don't recall having this ability on my Wizard, i have to be honest though.. with it being purely GPRS i would never have tried.
I appreciate this is a bit of a noobie question but i've been out of the Windows Mobile scene for a while so things have changed a little.
Thanks in advance.

There is a program that comes as standard in WM6.1 called "Internet Sharing" that allows this... T-Mobile might not though (in the UK, Web'n'Walk Plus/Max do allow tethering, the basic one doesn't though).
Hey l3v5y
Thanks for that, I'm on the W'n'W plus package, so thats all good
Thanks for the quick response!

Can Anyone Provide Me With A Serial Number For An O2 Xda Stellar?

I have just bought an HTC TYTN II, I would like to install the O2 Windows Mobile 6.1 ROM, I prefer the O2 ROM as all the settings are pre-programmed and the layout are as O2 expect them so I can call them for Tech support.
Unfortunately, I cannot access the file as I don't have the O2 version (the XDA STELLAR) and you need to enter your O2 XDA STELLAR Serial Number to access it.
Is there any kind person out there that might be willing to PM (message) me with a serial number of an XDA STELLAR that I could enter to get the file please.
Hoping someone can help me,
Thanks Folks,
wirralot
PS: Isn't the TYTN II / XDA STELLAR just the BEST phone ever!!
i would just put on a cooked rom from the many out there, first read the wiki about spl etc
the settings are on a automatic send once you install a new rom and turn it on,
as for tech help,i would say heres your guys use the search and you will be fine.
iam on o2 and its fine tryed many roms now and still ok.
TyTN IIs Connection Wizard/network will automatically set it up
The HTC branded TyTN II has a connection wizard which allows use on different networks and in different countries (especially useful if you're going overseas and want to use a PAYG sim for example. Also, as already mentioned, when you turn the phone on with your O2 sim already in it, the phone will automatically set itself up for your network - that's how it was with me and Vodafone. There's no need to go to the trouble of flashing your ROM and should you need any tech support, any instructions for the Stellar are likely to apply to the TyTN II as well. The few times I've spoken with Vodafone staff, their V1615 (vodafone branded version) feedback has helped (they even sent me a V1615 manual so I can compare the two).
ps yes it's the best ever as long as you have the WM 6.0 ROM and don't expect very good video playback!
Thanks for the input guys,
I should be receiving the pda in a day or too.
I believe it's on Windows mobile 6.1.
You say :" ps yes it's the best ever as long as you have the WM 6.0 ROM and don't expect very good video playback!"
Is WM 6.1 not a success for the Tytn II?
This is a great site, full of other people like me who couldn't live without their PDA!
Cheers Folks,
wirralot
O2 Wm 6.1 Rom
Here is a link to download the ROM. Its in the Kaiser Wiki, just scroll through the list and you will see it under HTC WM 6.1 ROMs.

I can only write with experience of the HTC branded TyTN II and their official ROMs here in the UK but IMO HTCs WM 6.1 upgrade for the TyTN II is more trouble than its worth. It introduced many bugs which I'd not noticed or experienced under WM 6.0. These included the default ring tones going silent unexpectedly, untidy file structure with WMP program files being where they shouldn't and of course GPS performance issues (which it appears are also plaguing its successor the Touch Pro). I wrote a multipage letter to HTC about bugs with their WM 6.1 upgrade and their handling of them so in short, no, I do not consider HTCs implementation of WM 6.1 a success (in its current state) on the TyTN II

Unhappy :( Kaiser discontinued on O2 and have to migrate to SEP1i - Need some help :(

Cant believe I have to migrate I miss my kaiser already, wish Id never have broke it :'(
Im looking into how to transfer all my messages (6000+) and call logs across to it before it comes and hopefully not have to do it by the old phone-sim-phone way as Id be there forever!
Ive always used PIMBackup so dont really know any other way to export mesages to my pc.
I know this isnt a SE forum and will be looking into them but thought I would ask in case anyone else has ever had to do this
Thanks to all the hard work everyone puts in, you dont realize until its gone...
RIP Kaiser 10/10/2008 - May you rest in pieces xxx
um.... I don't get it. if they couldn't replace it then You should take cash. that's what I did with my hermes. when it got broken, insurance company have offered me cash, because of no vario II in stock. I have bought vario III on ebay and rest of the money went for booze.
anyway... I wouldn't swap kaiser for P1. sorry mate.

I believe this question has already been answered on the SE forum but for the sake of others let me briefly summarize the situation (I have both a P1 and a Tytn II).
P1 runs on Symbian/UIQ3. Recently the end of UIQ has been announced, it will no longer be available in new phones. So you are getting a unit which will most likely not provide you with any reasonable sw support in the very near future. The P1 has a smaller screen 2.6" and it doesn't have a GPS but does have an FM radio. As far as the keyboard goes, some love it some hate it, it's not true qwerty but a rocker system with 2 characters / key. It's smaller and lighter and handwriting recognition works better on UIQ3 devices than on WM, in my opinion. Perhaps the most important thing is that the amount of software available for the UIQ3 platform is very little compared to WM.
As far as transferring your data, you wouldn't have a big problem if you use Outlook, which will mean you should be able to transfer contacts, calendar, tasks and notes. Forget about transferring SMS, we haven't been able to find a way to transfer SMS between UIQ3 and other platforms.
