I've got an 8925 (TyTN II/Kaiser) with WM6.1.
Suddenly, my syncs with my Exchange server are messing up. Here's what happens...
I'll click Sync within ActiveSync (or select Menu->Send/Receive from within Messaging; it doesn't matter). The device logs into my Exchange server, then ALL the messages from my device are deleted and re-downloaded.
Changes I make to messages (deleting them) from the device are NOT communicated to Exchange -- message I've deleted from the device are re-downloaded when everything else downloads.
I have tried deleting the partnership on both the PDA & PC and recreating it. No joy -- the problem persists after the (long!) dump of content to the PDA.
When directly connected (via USB cable), ActiveSync shows me error 0x80070019, but I cannot find anything meaningful about that error code.
This is really inconvenient and makes my PDA less productive. Can anyone recommend a course of action to remedy this situation?
A bit more information. I removed the partnership from both the PC and the PDA and recreated it. Everything sync'd fine, but subsequent sync attempts fail with 0x80070019 and "Error Synchronizing" when attempted from Messaging.
My PIM.VOL is 2980K. What's the limit on the size of it? I've removed a bunch of photos from my Contacts to try to shrink the PIM.VOL (which was over 3 megs before).
Am I facing a hard-reset to try to fix things?
If, on my PDA, I go into Messaging, into my Outlook account (where I've got ~20 messages sitting in the Inbox), and select Menu->Send/Receive, it deletes ALL the messages (I see them go, one by one) and then re-downloads everything from Exchange. Very weird. Very scary.
Is there a disk quota for the account on the Exchange server?
I've never had things like this happen with my Kaiser, but one of my Hermes' is a work-phone, and it seems the IT chaps in Lodon last bought hard disks when they were £10/MB. When I'm pushing the limit of the 512 bytes of storage they give us I get weird behaviour like that sometimes. The error code you're seeing rings a bell too.
I know you would normally expect warnings, or even a message from ActiveSync advising that there isn't sufficient storage to syncronise all items; but as we all know ActiveSync is more of an art than a science and as above, it's done similarly odd and unpredictable things to me...
Just a thought...
Regards,
Rob.
Thanks for your message, Rob. I've got plenty of space on my Exchange server account, so I don't think that's it. Any other ideas?

The following took place over a two or three day period (I posted on the AT&T forums before bothering everyone here).
Okay, I just did a hard reset and I am now attempting to setup my Tilt to sync with my work server (Microsoft Exchange). I have established a connection to the network but I get the following error when attempting to sync:
"There is not enough free memory on your device to synchronize information. Close programs that are running to free up memory, or restart the device."
There are no other programs running. I just did a soft reset (using psShutXP) and this was the first thing that I did. I checked the task manager to see if anything else was running, and Active Sync was the only program listed.
Now all of the contacts from my work server are gone!!! I just pulled out the battery again just to be sure. I still can't sync with the Exchange Server.
I tried another hard reset last night: It didn't work. Everything sync'd except for my contacts - they were erased from the server before the 2nd hard reset. I then tried to sync to my home PC via Active Sync and the contacts were erased from that PC as well!!! I then had to use PIMBackup in order to restore the contacts to the phone. Now everytime that I try to sync with the Exchange Server, I get the same error message (not enough program memory on my device). I have used Oxios to clear as much memory as possible, but that didn't help.
Hi all
i have a curious question i hope someone might be able to answer (maybe youve had this problem before in the past too?):
i have an exchange server, a laptop and this phone - the phone pulls emails from the exchange server - the phone is occasionally plugged into the laptop via usb - what i need is to synchronise the phone with the exchange server, and then synchronise the phone with the laptop, so effectively pulling the emails off the exchange server with the phone and then pulling them off the phone onto the laptop.
ive tried every way to do this but it seems that the phone will only let me synchronise with the exchange server _or_ the laptop, not both at the same time which is kinda annoying - am i missing something obvious here or is it just not possible?
thanks for reading this rambling confusing wall of text! i lubs joo <3
I'd definetly be interested in the solution, cause I'll be getting an exchange account soon.
i think the only way u can go about that would be to add the another email account to your phone so it pulls the emails directly off the imap/pop server
Solution to your problem
If you want to use activesync with 2 PCs or activesync and MS Direct Push you have to set the following registry key:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\ActiveSync\EnableNonLocalCrossPollination] = (DWORD) 1
----------------------------------------------------------------------/\
-------------------------------------------------------------------No space [EnableNonLocalCrossPollination] (bug in editor?)
This will also work when you want to synchronize with 2 different Exchange organizations (my situation).
Good luck, Cesare
wahey! thanks for that Bluetec! i shall give it a shot as soon as she comes back and let you know how it pans out.
thanks again!
p.s. yea the editor puts spaces in very long unbroken words to make sure it doesnt distort the html rendering of the page
Hello, Please forgive me if this is anywhere on the forum, but I have searched everywhere and cannot find it.
I have lost the ability to get any emails and messages. This is not just a problem of not being able to send, I can no longer even see my email and message accounts. When I tap messaging or email, on my front screen in programs or wherever else, there is just a brief pause and then nothing happens.
I am using Mobile 6.1 on an unlocked Tilt (kaiser). I have a number of SPB programs running. I upgraded the ROM about a year ago, but I cannot remember which one it is. I have tried using a backup of the phone that I saved with SPB plus. Nothing.
I've tried hooking it to active sync and then trying to sync the emails. Not only nothing, it cannot sync--though this was a problem long before.
There are a few other quirks, too I use Tmobile and there is a signal that you have a phone message. I go into voicemail and there are no messages, but the symbol still remains.
Also, when it boots up, it tells me that there is a problem with my voice command program.
How do I get email and messaging back without reinstalling everything?
Has anyone ever heard of not being able to access the email and message functions of outlook at all-- and have them just stop suddenly.
Thanks
Fized the Problem
I am not sure what fixed it, but I went all around the site. I decided to try two things before reinstalling everything. First, I deleted any of the new programs I had installed recently. That did not do it. Then I popped out the storage card and rebooted. That did it -- but then I had a lot of memory problems. (I don't mean in my head, though I do sometimes.) So I uninstalled some of the larger programs, such as the SPBs. It is finally working again.
I'm not sure what happened, but if others are having this problem, try this first and see if it works.
PS It is fixed, not fized. Sorry about that
I'm not sure if I got that right or not, but is the problem that your inbox doesn't even open or it opens but the mail sync isn't working??? for me i had a problem in my mail sync and it wasn't solved except when i changed which internet connection type the programs should use.
Outlook not opening .. fixed

I had the same problem with Outlook not opening for email or text messages. The problem seems to be that there were several messages in the outbox which would not send. I had specified that attachments be placed on the storage card when available.
To solve the problem of Outlook not opening I first ran the Microsoft Installer Package “WindowsMobile61-KB958639.msi” to correct the SMTP email sending problem. Next I removed the storage card and rebooted the device. Outlook then opened and I did a send and receive which cleared the outbox. Then I replaced the storage card.
The problem of Outlook not opening appears to be fixed.
Recently I've used the recovery dvd to reset my PC. I also have to install Active Sync. Strangely enough I couldn't install the disk that HTC puts into the boxes where you buy your phones in. The program says that you must install flash 8.0 or higher with a link that link you up to Adobe's website. I already did install the latest flash player. I uninstall it, reset the computer, put in the disk, hit the link, install the flash player again, restart again. Still the same message. After that I downloaded ActiveSync 4.5 at the website of Microsoft. It works okay.
When I put a new contact in the phone it won't set the contact into Word Office Outlook 2003. Otherwise it works.
I've tried to delete the device into ActiveSync and loaded up in it again but that won't work unfortunately. Please help!
Is everything else you selected to sync sychronising properly? It's not just simply that you didn't select the options when you re-installed?
Does ActiveSync come up with any error messages? It could be that you need to delete partnerships and re-establish them - in my experience ActiveSync is a bit 'fussy' when uninstalled and re-installed.
Whatever, make sure you do full backup(s) before trying anything - I lost all my data one time when an engineer 'tried' to re-establish my ActiveSync partnership!
My pc was completly turned up side down so I used the recovery dvd and that deleted the whole C disk, also ActiveSync. I do had to download ActiveSync from the website because the disk wouldn't run. And yes I do change some options.
It can not synchronised some contacts that I install on my Topaz. Installing contacts in Outlook 2003 to the device works, otherwise not.
It gives the warning code 1.
Sorry, not sure what to suggest here.
If NOTHING from the phone is syncing with Outlook (i.e. no Appointments, Tasks or whatever) it sounds to me as though it could be a problem with the firewall - if you have one set up. Try disabling that and syncing.
If it's only Contacts that aren't syncing, but it works the other way, I'm at a loss.
Worth looking at the Microsoft Support pages - but ActiveSync often seems to have a mind of its own!
Sorry I can't help.

It does Sync tasks, appointments, etc. Just a couple of contacts strangely enough :S
...and it won't sync NEW Contacts at all? I've had the problem previously where existing Contacts didn't get changed - ActiveSync seemed to have got 'confused' as to which was the most up-to-date version and I had to go through entire Contacts list making small changes, waiting for them to be replicated, and if they were not then deleting that Contact on both devices and adding them back in.
That's simpler than it reads - but if you can't add NEW Contacts from the phone I'm not sure that's the problem.
Sorry.
Thnx for your input
ive tried to synce my gmail contacts all goes well with the setup then it wont even sync i keep hitting the synce button and NOTTA. so i said fuc* it and did it all manually. must be a microsoft thing.
when i try to sync my emails with my live.de (hotmail) account i always get the error 86000108. if i uncheck the email-sync box synchronization works fine (without email of course). if i check the box again i get this error back (m.hotmail.com).
the used email is my live.id so i can´t delete it from my phone and set it up again afterwards to see if it works fine then...
From memory 86000108 used to relate to having a corrupted item causing the sync to fail. In this case obviously in your mailbox which would explain why disabling it allows the rest of the sync to complete.
I would check Hotmail for any corrupted items and delete them.
Do you have anything else that syncs that mail, Outlook etc?
Yes I have (outlook 2010).
Nevertheless after some hours of swearing and trying I found the solution:
I tried to sync ALL emails, after switching to "only emails from the last month" it works fine. Seems it can´t handle too many mails...
Regards
Similar solution for me - thanks!
It turned out I had a 24mb email that was stopping the sync. Once I permanently deleted the large email, syncing started working straight away.
Just helped a friend with the same issue but a different error code. was his primary live account and it wouldn't sync.
Emptied out his live account but it still wouldn't sync... finally we cleaned out all his messages on his phone (including emptying the deleted messages folder) and that seemed to do the trick!!
