16GB 3G Iphone or a Fuze? If you could buy these for the same price which would you buy? Also, I have a tilt is the Fuze a worthwhile upgrade?
That's loaded question since it is all up to personal taste and what you expect the phone to do, i would get the fuze over the iphone any day of the week but that's because i love flashing rom's and the way you can set up your wm6 phone how you want it. Plus with alot of freeware and a large community of people that support the wm6 device platform like xda its the best choice for me but they may not apply to everyone.

I agree about flashing rom's and all the freeware. I just see most people selling their fuze for Iphones. What about the fuze does it offer enough upgrades over the tilt? I have an opportunity to buy a fuze for $350 and sell my tilt for $220. What do you think?
(this time the txt is black lol)Well That's an easy one to answer people buy a fuze thinking its a replacement for and i phone but its not it a data wm6 phone. once they realize that its a bit over whelming for a non nerd lol. It's not that the iphone is better than the fuze it just comes down to the level on the users technical knowledge of the device. Why would you want the fuze if you don't know how the hell to use its cool functions. Also with the iphone and the i touch you have a consumer market that already is familiar with some of the basic functions witch make it easier to use for the masses that are not "nerds" lol.

How about the fuze vs tilt. Like I said in a previous post is it worth buying a fuze for $350 and selling my tilt for $220?
well without a new contract and only $350.00 i would take it lol and the fuze is a noticeable upgrade and worth it. If your not sure still let me know ill trade a tilt and a slim psp for a fuze lol

Or me?
I can't recommend a Treo 750 to a friend based on my experience (even though it's been tolerable with WM6).
What's the point of this poll? Every person has different needs. I have lots of friends I would never recommend a Tilt to. Has nothing to do with issues of the phone, its just that a PPC is not right for them.
I actually have a good friend right now that was looking at a Tilt when I bought mine. I've already told him he'd probably be happier with a BlackJack than the Tilt. Why? Because he needs a phone and doesn't really need (or even want) a PDA (he has told me he never liked Palm's in the past). As I've told him, and lots of other people, PPC's are PDA's with phone capabilities. Smartphones are Phones with PDA capabilities. There is a huge difference between the two. There is also a big difference in the types of people that use the two different devices. Heck, i work in a high tech company (I think Microsoft is the only software maker larger than us) and most of the people I work with had an 8125 or Apache device in the last year or two. Most of them hated it, but they were forced to buy it. Sure, part of that hate was due to how crappy WM5 and the official roms were on the Wizard and Apache, but most hated them because they just wanted a phone. Now most of these people have BlackJacks and they love them. Its because they now have a usable phone with hard keys, and it has the ability to do cool things that smartphones can do.
Then, of course, a lot of people (most?) would be better off with a Razr or similar. The just need a phone and nothing else.
So how am I to answer a poll like this? If you are asking for yourself, then I'd need to know more about you, what you are like with computers and other technology, and whether you are looking for a PDA / mini computer, or are you looking for a Phone as your primary device. If you are the right type of person, then yeah, in my less than one week of experience with the Tilt, I'd highly recommend it to you. I even still recommend picking up a Wizard or Hermes for that matter if I think a PPC is what that person needs (I just let them know they should upgrade the rom to make the most of it).
I tell people the same thing I tell them about my carputer - it's only for people who enjoy hacking around a bit and are really comfortable with computers.
I've been able to turn my Kaiser into so much because I can hack my way around and figure things out. I am not confident that many of my friends could do the same.
So I while I would certainly recommend it to my tech-minded friends - in a hearbeat, in fact - to my non-techie friends I would probably suggest getting an iPhone. Easy to use, cool, but not too heavy on advanced features - in other words, it does everything a non-techie would want.
I would recommend it to friend shopping for a PPC and wanting to select a good PPC.

Damn... Why read so much into everything???
I'll re-word it for you... "Are you happy with your Kaiser?"
Never! I like to be unique and if I recommend it, then I won't be the only one in my circle who has one
ok, ill just put it in simple terms.
The Kaiser is the ultimate PDA for someone who is a Data User and is on a 3G network, it's just seems so convenient to slip it out and search something or do something for a period of time on it. For me, this phone is for the power user
i wouldn't recommend this phone for someone using this phone on a non 3g network, whereas a P4350 would come handy with its edge and its decent processor. I DO NOT recommend the Kaiser if your a big talker on your phone and talk over of 2.5+ hours a day and like to do web browsing at the same time without ever hooking it up to a dock station or car charger.
the truth is, this phone is mainly for the power user and if anyone owned a HTC Tytn and liked it, this is only the perfect upgrade
I already bought one for my brother, so I guess yeah I would recommend it. I do agree with others here though, it is definitely for the more tech-savvy.
Non of my friends/family are "Tech Savvie" and I would not recommend any pda based phone. If they needed a pda type phone then yes I would recomend a Kaiser. It offers the most functionality of any current device. It is "Horses for Courses" My Mother in law can just about cope with a Nokia 3210. My Brother is happy with his SE K800i as he can leave his Ipod and Camera at home. Me I prefer to have the latest and greatest and most feature packed that is available at reasonable/no cost. I am happy to be at the Bleeding edge of technology and actually enjoy having to trackdown fixes, hacks and apps as long as I can get a result.
Depends on the person. If their usage pattern is like mine, then yes. If they just want a simple phone then obviously no.
Moderator,
Please look at this so called poll and see it as overwhelming 'FOR' and remove with result posted.
Thanks.
OK, out of strange series of events I ended up buying a tilt and a Tytn II online that should be here soon. I also purchased a 8GB card *drools* that I'm saving for when the lucky phone gets here.
First off I want to say I've had a 8525 (hermes) for a year or so and I wanted to upgrade I am very familar with having this PDA and it's plans but what I'm not used to is flashing (even though I did it once to upgrade my phone from wm5 to wm6) I would like to know which ROM are best at the moment or even if there is one and if it's even worth it to jump into 6.1 right now.
My second question would be 0_0 which phone do I keep?? they are both new and I plan on selling the other one. The tilt isn't unlocked but I don't see how that really matters since I'll be using att anyway. Also Black is my favorite color (which this tilt is). but I do like the extra camera that the tytn has (even though I probably won't be able to use it). So which one should I keep?? Which ROM should I install once I decide which one to keep??
does anyone have an idea??
Read all about the ROM's and then decide which best suits your needs.
The phones are basically the same, especially if you install a ROM.

I'm just putting this out there, but you know.... since you have a second one, people are looking for a donation tilt/tytn to work on for video drivers
I'd keep the Tilt. The units are basically exactly the same, and you can get more in return for the TYTN II since it has the front camera that you can't use. The only thing you can use the front camera for is a mirror, so unless you are a pretty vain person, I don't think it is worth it. If money isn't an object for you, I think the TYTN II is a little cooler looking, but it doesn't really make sense to spend the extra amount for it over the Tilt.
I'm looking to purchase a cheap Hermes if you are letting that go too.
Well yeah I am planning on selling it. I was planning on trying to sell it for 280 with the 2GB card how does that sound to you??
My kaiser is boring me recently.
My friend got a brand new iphone 3g, and it's pretty slick and way better than the original iphones.
I kinda want one, but it lacks many features.
What phone is think and cool like the iphone, with a big screen, for USA and able to be used on AT&T?
It doesn't have to have a keyboard either.
Just something pretty cool
Lol, get lost stuff.
This kind of case don't need a new thread.
Go buy iPhone and don't come here back ever again.

haha what a douche. You're going to have a hard time finding something at teh moment that's better than the tilt though. There's the iPhone 3g, but I think the plans are more $$ (dunno cause I'm on Tmo USA)
You could go with something like the touch cruise. I think that has a flush screen and no qwerty, but will feel just like the tilt otherwise. What about spending the big bucks and getting a diamond? I played with eth sprint version and thought it was pretty cool.
Best bet is to probably wait until the touch pro is available on ATT, or wait and see if any android phones come out of the woodwork.
I also want to throw a shout out for a Nokia N95-3. Decent size screen, but not huge. Can do much of what the tilt does, some better some worse. One plus/minus, depending on how you see it (wow people on XDA can have different opinions?? What a novel concept) is that it looks just like a normal phone.
Aww Stuff, I never expected you to post the weekly I'm done with Kaiser thread.
I'll give you my standard reply,
"Don't Go Away Mad, Just Go Away "
Thread Closed pursuant with the Guidelines set forth in the Kaiser Section Announcement and the Forum Policies.
I've enjoyed the XDAIIi but it's getting too long in the tooth now.
Can anyone suggest a modern replacement unlocked PDA available in the UK for use with an existing O2 SIM?
I like the 3.5" screen, the app multitasking and the stylus rather than a purely touch screen...
Doubling as a GPS navigator would be great too.
Something like the iPhone would be fun but it strikes me as too fiddly to do the amount of typing and word processing I like to do.
Thanks for any suggestions...
M
Anyone got the URL of a helpful XDA forum?
Coucou !
What about a HTC Touch Pro2 ??? Also called Rhodium here and there?
Screen 3,6", aGPS included...
For me, one of the best nowadays!
OK thanks.
One additional factor is that I get a corporate discount on the iPhone, so £200 cheaper than the HTC...
I've ordered one but am still not sure I've made the right choice.

Hey Mus , I am desparate to get an iPhone but simply can't afford one at the moment.
I have a Nokia N95 8Gb to either sell to someone/ some company or sort out a part ex deal.
I reckon I can sell my Nokia ( an amazing phone , incidently but not as nifty as an iPhone) for about £100 .
If you don't like your iPhone , please contact me
PS You couldn't order another one through your company ( FOR ME ) Nudge Nudge Wink Wink !
Well, there are contractual obligations that I would think twice about for friends and family and wouldn't even consider on behalf of a stranger...
I sent the iPhone back until I can properly check the alternatives

That does look good. Or I might be able to get a Touch HD 2.
The main thing I need to consider is how different is WinMo 6 from WM2003? Is being able to use a stylus and multitask worth forgoing the apps, surfing and multimedia whizzbang of the iPhone or has HTC caught up with that a little?
Unlike the iPhone it's hard to find a live device to play with in a shop.
Coucou!
I understand it's barely available in shop to "play" with...
But for all you're asking for, it's perfect. Not as smooth, sadly, as an iPhone, but much more improvable (correct word?), may be as efficient, and so pleasant to use with the Manilla interface.
Really, I won't change my Rhodium for an iPhone, even with money!
OK thanks.
How much of an improvement is WM 6 over 2003? Is it faster surfing, does it do flash streaming? Generally I switch graphics off on the XDA over GPRS.
M
OK, so it's much of a muchness with WM2003 then? No improvements?
Coucou!
Of course, there are lots of improvements, graphic interface, usage, memory, applications, .......... and ......... and .........
You can read everywhere what are the improvements.......
Yeah, just wish I could find a live one to try out for myself.
I went to an O2 shop and they didn't have one and say they have been selling less and less WinMo phones. They said they have stopped offering the XDA range and don't expect to stock the Touch HD 2 until January if at all.
Don't know if all that is true but I really dislike Apple for making every manufacturer think that a stylus is old hat. For typing the Apple is not a business phone, it's a consumer toy.
The Touch Pro 2 does look good , though I am reluctant to pay full price for it.
Tried out a live Hero yesterday - iPhone wannabe with less useful apps (for me)
Wonder what happened to that patent HTC took out on a capacitative stylus?
The 3g shop said they used to sell the Touch Pro 2 but nobody ever bought one so they stopped.
Also why aren't the prices of the Touch Pro 2 at rock bottom if there is no demand?
Would it be possible to update Imagio to WinMo 7 when it is available?
Thanks,
Mark
No. If I read right the min requirements for 7 Series is a Snapdragon. That's a 1GHz CPU, the Imagio only has a +500MHz CPU. I'm sure once we get an HSPL someone will be more then happy to cook a rom. But It will run like crap, if at all.
no update even the hd2 will not get it
no 6.5 hardware is capable of running 7.
Thanks for all the clarifications. Appreciate that!

LOL The HD2 will get it. That's like the only phone that will.
What really gets my panties in a bunch.... wait... did I just type that out loud? ... is I was assured at the time of purchasing the Imagio that it would most definitely have winmo7 available for it when it was released. It was repeated over and over that winmo6.5 was simply an interim solution until 7 was released. It was THE determining factor for purchasing the Imagio and signing a 2 year contract. As for Microsoft... I'm through with buying any phone containing windows mobile OR phone... Winmo6.5 is the Windows Vista of the PDA.... a complete POS considering it was released to compete against the iphone and the droid.
Thanks, and don't let the door hit you on the way out.
Man I don't even care about WinMo 7 anymore lol.
Not a fan of the interface.
Do want 6.5.3 though.
I'm looking forward to WinMo7. I just hope that we can get this unlock bull**** taken care of before it comes out - which I'm sure won't be for quite a while yet if I know Microsoft! Yeah, I know that they're saying it'll be out soon, but I seriously doubt it. On the other hand, I love this Imagio so much that I'm not really missing the hard unlock. So, lots to see about....

Why would you ever believe a saleperson from any cell provider? Specially on Minmo7. Odds are heavily in favor of you knowing way more than they do, even if you know nothing about nothing.
Most of the dudes that work in the VZW stores are lucky to remember their names.
I did read on a MS blog that WM7 would not be available for the phones that preceded the WM7 phone.
7 wont be on 6.5 phones. no matter what, it isnt happening.
its PHYSICALLY not possible.
hope for 6.5.whatever and be thankful if you get it.

Man! I'm self employed and still don't have the disposable income that a fair amount of people have in these forums. In the current state of the economy who can afford to purchase phones every time a new one comes out? I sure can't.
Regarding Win 6.5.... loaded the most recent update to it and it's made a ton of difference regarding the use of the phone, speed, and the constant lockups I was experiencing prior. At this stage I have settled into the Imagio and have loaded a ton of apps that make it much more convenient in just about every aspect of my day. Figure since Win7 will never be available I'll take the plunge soon and load one of the new roms on it. Also curious to try out the droid OS now available.
Still... while there was a great deal of initial enthusiasm regarding the Imagio... it looks like that enthusiasm has died off really quick which would seem to translate to less being done to continue to enhance the product on all fronts... including here.
Time will tell.

Yeah, I hear you. It does get quite expensive. But think of it as a hobby.. That might help justify its cost. Or, stick w/what you have and love it. All these phones have serious sweetness creds. well good thing that you doubt it. I tried out the kin two with win mo 7 and i have to say.. it is a huuge adjustment. One thing that bothered me the most... there is no apps for the phone. yea u heard me
I have purchased windows based smartphones since it was the ONLY player in the market with Windows CE 1.0. I have probably purchased 12 to 15 different variations of a windows based smartphone over the last 10 years. I have developed apps left and right for win ce and winmo. The fact that Microsoft has created immediate obsolescence on every winmo 6.5 phone by not allowing forward migration is the final straw for me. Particularly with an OS that effectively will have NO support when it's released for 3rd party apps. I really believe microsoft has lost what ever clout and status they had in the pda market for good. I will NEVER purchase another MS based smartphone again. Bill Gates can sit on them and spin. In the end I have to say that the Imagio, while giving the promise of longevity, expandibility, and all around blissfulness, has turned out to be the worst, bar none, pda purchase I have ever made. And I am still stuck with 14 months left on this *&*^*) assed 2 year verizon contract on it.
Purchased my first Droid the other day. The Droid X. MAN what a beautiful pda! This thing does mega circles around my Imagio and winmo. With the 60,000 plus apps available for it... my ability to build apps around it as well... and the shear elegance of the unit... this may very well be the last pda I ever purchase.
As the Imagio fades into "paper weight" status... Homer Dokes rides off into the sunset with his Droid X at his side.... tomorrow will be a good day!
Wow
You must of had some Really Great phones before the Imagio if that is your worst one ever! What were they?!!! I want to get one!
