Hi Everyone. I'm going on a much needed vacation with my family next week. I have a new blog I just started (in Feb). It's called techloaf.com. It's technical stuff for the not so technical.
Anyway, I want to dedicate next week to windowsmobile and htc phones. Would any of you be interested in being a guest blogger? You would just send me an article of at least 200 words and I'll set it up to post automatically next week.
Here are the benefits to you:
1) YOU GET TO BE A STAR! lol
2) You could link back to your blog or website for traffic. My blog gets crawled by google almost everyday. What you write would go into google almost immediately, including the link to your site.
3) It would increase your publicity. My blog is new. Just a 100 or so visitors a week currently. But about half are coming from Technorati and Google. Your exposure would increase over time.
4) If you want, I'll guest blog for you to pay you back.
5) I'll put your names in my signature this week, ie "Check out Vijay555, guest blogging on Techloaf.com this week!" Hehe, sorry vijay.
Guidelines:
1) Be Yourself
2) Be Funny if you like
3) Keep it clean
4) Keep it simple
5) If possible, have titles like "5 Ways to do this or That" or "How to do something that simplifies your life" etc
Interested? Please PM and let me know. Also, let me know the titles of the articles you would like to write.
Thanks!

I just posted THIS in xda general but thought i would give my kaiser peeps a head start!
to be completely redundant it says this.
"Give Skyfire to your friends Announcement started 18th August 2008 and ends 30th August 2008
On the eve of the Olympics, we added Silverlight support to Skyfire, meaning that Skyfire users can watch any ofthe 2200+ hours of Olympics coverage provided by NBC on their mobile phones. To celebrate Michael Phelps’s monumental accomplishment of winning 8 Gold metals in a single Olympic games, today we have released a special code “Michael8” which will give new users access to Skyfire and the games (and the full PC web).
Spread the code “Michael8” to your friends and let them part take in these historic games on the go."
Says: Only users who are currently participating in the Skyfire private beta can access these forums. If you have forgotten your password, Click here!
that would make sense that you can't see the post...
I will attach it.
Still though, you should be able to go to skyfire.com on your mobile to access the software with the code above. Since I already have access through beta testing (which is how i found that post in the forums) I cant test this out. will someone let us know if it works??
I just tried the code and it definitely works!
still only for us residents no?

Apparently not, I just went to the sign up page and there is now an "outside of the US" checkbox which doesn't require a mobile number to join up.
EDIT: Okay maybe still not accessible outside the US but getting closer.
From the email:
"If your phone is currently not supported or live outside the U.S., you will be notified as soon as Skyfire is available for your phone type or in your area."
I think it's a code for when you already have the Skyfire and want to have access to the Olympics on your phone...
I thaught it was a code for us to get the Skyfire - I too have signed up for the Beta 2 but they just say in the mail that they don't know when the testing will start...
Skyfire requires too many personal info hoops to jump through to get.
No thanks.

I agree... their terms of service (privacy issues) are more than I am willing to deal with!
Thanks for sharing this, it's a good find, i hadn't even check on it recently.
Sweet... Thanks... i have skyfire on my phone. Now I cant wait to get home and play with it.
ok i signed up with code and got nothing.any ideas?
No SMS
I can't receive SMS messages. (I don't have it, not even pay per use) That means no Skyfire for me either. (Not that I would give them my number so they could send me SMS spam anyway!)

Hi fellas
I have a windows mobile site 1800PocketPC.com, its just over a year old. I was wondering if you guys have heard of it ?
We usually post about freewares and the latest hardware news about windows mobile. We dont have a forum for people to hang out coz we think as long as xda-devs and ppcgeeks are there why would anyone need a forum for windows mobile. I was hoping to get some constructive criticism about the site and ways we can improve the site.
You can also subscribe to our RSS ot Twitter
I know your site for some time and it´s very good, I like the format (exept for a narrower line of adds on the right)
Congrats!
I go all the time
I really like the site,
only thing is you could be be a little bit more "selective" or "picky"
At least what I think this could be "Pearls and beauty" of xda-developers.com for the average guy.
- I really like the category style!
- The Wallpaper stuff: Naaaahh I think you will catch some fishes with this but is it really needed? I think it makes the site look a bit cheap.
- RSS and twitter is great: every Headline was a hit so far (well some exeptions but I think beauty is in the eye of the beholder).
- Customisable rss and twitter by categorys and user would be the ultimate I think (but this would almost need the power of a socialnetwork)
- You are already on the top scores of google! (at least when I search for something)
- You can discover the real beauty of google translator when visiting your site Microfi Nitrogen -> Microfi Stickstoff (Germans get the joke)
but besides of the jokes it can be really usefull.
- I can´t test right now but have you checked "freedom from barriers"? The new "touchscreen generation" of phones might be great for handicapped persons. Would also be great to have a rating system for them as well.
So far really great
THX for this site
thanks for the kind words fellas.
@ moesfeld : Customisable rss and twitter by categorys is a great idea, I will look in to getting it done in the near future.
I am in the dark about "freedom from barriers" , do you have any links from where I can read more regarding this ?
Hi sajio,
You have really done a great job with the site, i actually am now quite addicted to your site to catch on the software which i miss on XDA. So keep up the good work and i hope with all the frequent updates and personal attention, you have made it full of valuable resources. What i think is keep your site fresh alway like you do now, and you would not need anything additional.
Regards
Sharif Ansari

Well it pretty much depends on what cms you use. Many have the "accessability for disabled" already inbuild.
I found the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines
Also I found the Web Accessibility Toolbar that lets you check if you meet the guidelines.
I know your site a while ago, and I like very much.
Keep it up
I go there @ll the time nice job!
thanks guys
i love it and subscribe to rss for it. thanks for you hard work.
you are welcome
Get it in the market, create an account and you can stream live or post private videos from your phone! The delay is only about 5 seconds on Wifi, haven't tryied the live on 3g. Also, on Qik.com, you can watch other people's videos!

I did search, "qik android" and "qik g1" and through 5 pages I looked, mine was the only thread with qik in the title. 1 other thread mentioned it and it was called "G1 Webcam". Thereview was just on Phonedog...thought I would share. On the other hand, its a pretty cool app! To view your live stream, go to http://qik.com/username and your video will show up.
its been in the marketplace for a while now, i posted the first thread about, some other guy like yourself didnt search and posted something three hours later, and 3 months later, here you are. You didnt discover america, there were people here all along.
I just can't find the search function on this site, this should be more clear for new people here, anyone want to tell me where it is?
Thanks!
Did you bother to look at the top of the page?
[Sig] dId you know? If you Insert a Coin on your Desire, then it levels up to HD, Z or S :[/Sig] !!!! 10 post limit for off topic NOW!!!!
You can find a good helpful guide on using the forums here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1041206
Also.. It hasn't been working for me for the last 2 days
Alt+F4 is a shortcut to search.
good day.
It's been stolen and held to ransom. Once you've paid all XDA members £10 each you can have it back.
Sincerely,
The Thieves.

Here's how to get Google to do the work XDA's servers are too retarded to do:
Go to www.google.com, and type in the following on the search bar:
forum.xda-developers.com:[insert search string here]
Or you can use the Search to find that button!
Sorry, could not resist...

That just reminds me, don't you just hate retarded people who go to google for EVERYTHING? Like if they're going to Facebook, go to google and search for Facebook and so on. It's as if they don't know all they have to add is the domain after Facebook and they're done.

Actually... guilty as charged.
I only bookmark sites that I visit daily. Everything else goes into folders. Sensitive sites (like banking sites and paypal) never gets bookmarked. I google them because there is no way phishing sites can beat three layers of alertness (once when going into google, another time when el Goog searches, last time when I see the site itself).
And since I use Chrome, there's another layer of security.
But yeah, sometimes I google for gmail and facebook, but that only happens on someone else's PC.
@OP
Only use XDA search when you want retarded result.

Yeah but you do it for security purposes. Other people do it out of sheer laziness. Which is deplorable!
