i'm posting this from my phone...
anyone know of a way to open animated gifs on the kaiser? I did some search from my phone to find a way to open the files, and i've only come up w/ two options...Pictures and Videos program and resco photoviewer. Probleam is i can't find the photo's and video cab, and i dont want to pay for reseco. Are there any other free alternatives that i have?
This is the best freeware pictures viewing app bar none, xnview pocket:
There is also a desktop version that I also use.
Enjoy.

PIE doesn't work...
i think i'm gonna stick w/ opera mobile....i just realized that plays .gifs just fine. i was hoping i could stick w/ a winmo/htc solution...but dah wellz. the only downsize to opera mobile is that it opens the gifs SUPER small, so if you need to you have to zoom in quite a bit.

I've discovered Opera Mini and love how you can zoom in to the web page pretty quickly. I was wondering is there an image viewer that works as smoothly as Opera's zoom but for images?
I find the default image view to be really slow for zooming into pictures.
s2v
i use ac´s s2v and it is very fast!

Piscel viewer is much better than that and reads almost every image/doc/adobe file you throw at it.
where can you find the cab version of the installer? I can easily find the exe version but i'm nowhere near a pc with activesync to install it

Hi,
Anyone know application like HTC Album but better?
An application that can view IMAGES and VIDEOS .. but it is finger friendly, easy to operate (zoom, delete, go back).
HTC Album is ok, but it could not view videos ... and sometimes very hard to zoom (does it really work???).
Thanks.
PocketCM image viewer IMO is the best still image viewer, unfortunately will not preview videos
I used to use HTC album, tried PocketCM picture viewer and liked it, but found it too hard to navigate. It would zoom in when I didn't want it to, change pictures accidently. Now I use A_C's S2V, really like it, quick and easy to zoom in and out with the D-pad.
Hi,
use resco photo explorer
I agree, in my opinion, S2V is the best software to view still images.
I'm not sure if there are any softwares out there made to view still images and videos. I think it's one or the other.
I use right now HTC Album 2 with SJ's Full Player plugin so I can play video directly within. Not the greatest but it will do for now.
I think the best solution is using resco photo explorer
Eyephoto's pretty good too, no video though...
Kinoma Play
I've heard good things about Kinoma Play, http://kinoma.com/play/
Being commercialware, I have yet to try it.
how can i change the sort order in HTC Album?
first image in preview is the last in explorer and so on
i would like to have it sorted upwards

You probably have an old build of HTC Album. The stock build on my HTC Touch Cruise zoomz very easily (via touch screen and jog dial). I once tried an XDA build, but found that gestures would often cause rotation when I wanted to zoom, and zoom when I wanted to rotate.
As for videos, HTC album does preview them, but when you click on it, it opens them in Windows Media Player. Is this the behavior that you experience?
You could try the new HTC album floating around from the Opal/Manilla 2D.
I'm currently using Skyfire as my browser. The only other browser I've tried is Explorer. I have one complaint though. When you click on a link to a media file, Skyfire sometimes automatically starts playing the song, video clip, etc. and at other times it gives you the option to download the file to your phone's main memory or to your memory card. There seems to be no rhyme or reason. I would prefer to download the files and watch them later. Unfortunately, the only type of file you can manually download using Skyfire's menu is an image file. There has to be a tweak or a work around. Skyfire can download small files really fast (when it wants to), and I really enjoy this browser other than this one major drawback.
If there is a browser that will let you CHOOSE whether you want to play the media file within the browser or download it to your phone to play later, please let me know. I'd be willing to pay for it. I was reading on the Opera website, but I got the feeling it will only manually download images and not other types of media files, similar to Skyfire.
Thanks for taking the time to read my post. I am new to the world of mobile internet. I'm wanting to save NCAA basketball video highlight clips (mainly mpg and wmv) to my storage card, so that I can impress my friends.
Use opera 9.5 built QVGA

Installed Opera. Keyboard issues...
I like Opera. It responds well when using touchscreen, but it doesn't like the keyboard controls on my tilt at all. Is there a tutorial or a setting I need to change? Also, when I installed Skyfire, I made it the default browser. Is there a way to make Opera the default browser? Is there a setting like in the menu of Skyfire? Finally, someone warned (in another forum) that this version of Opera cannot be uninstalled once you have installed it on your phone. I haven't tried to uninstall it, but is that true? I was hoping to someday install Mobile Firefox and ditch my other browsers. I guess I would have to do a hard reset and start from scratch.
sorry this was a duplicated post so ive erased it

How does WMD work?
Sorry...lol...meant WVD. Would I have to use Explorer to utilize it?
hey guys, I'm not satisfied with the Adobe reader that came with my AT&T Tilt. does anyone have a good pdf reader? I hate how I have to use my stylus soo often to move the page left and right to properly view the PDFs. My friends told me about how sweet Palm Reader was for Palm PDAs and how it would convert the PDF to maximum readability so that all the letters would fit to the screen properly. Is there a similar program for windows mobile?
PB
I use Piscel Browser..we can zoom in/out..its like OPERA..
Foxit is an option
Not free, but good.
http://www.foxitsoftware.com/pdf/mobile/winmobile.htm
I looked around for Picsel browser to try, but I cant even find a way to buy it. Is it OEM only?
My Best
Try this one.
It seems to work best for me.
I use some kind of ported adobe reader off the Diamond that has text reflow, like opera. I don't think it uninstalls real well if you have an adobe reader baked into your ROM, but search around. Of the PDF software I've tried, it's decent. Try searching something like "adobe reader LE 2.5 Diamond".
Dave
Sadly, my favorite PDF reader is now Word Mobile!
If you go here:
http://pdfonline.com/pdf2word/index.asp
you can upload your PDFs and the website converts them to .rtf files you can download and view in Word.
They increase in size about 10x, but if you then resave them as .doc it cuts them in half (now about 5x original .pdf size.)
Images convert as well as text, and now the document can word wrap, to avoid scrolling, plus you can edit them.

Adobe reader 2.0 does not do reflow
Adobe reader 2.5 does
It's available as a CAB and once installed it will replace the embeded one.
Or flash a recent ROM that has version 2.5 already integrated.
Just saw on the WMPoweruser.com.
Youtube has created a native Windows Mobile application for displaying their videos on your phone, and its pretty good.
The user interface is attractive and uses fluid animations, and video quality is also very good, and apparently adaptive to the speed of your own connection
To download the app, visit http://m.youtube.com from your device. More cool features and app improvements are on the way, and the app will alert you as updates become available and allow you to upgrade with a single click.
Read more at Youtube here.
edit cab
Sweet, thanks for the heads up! Just installed and its pretty nice. I'm not sure if I like the button layout better than the original raphael youtube app but the transitions are pretty cool.
Pretty sweet. Works quickly and the streams are buffered properly.
call me retarded, but i dont see the link for the download

Is it better that the native application installed in Touch Diamond/Pro ?
If i install this version, older will delete properly ?
I don't think it's better, I found it to be pretty crappy quality. And I have full 3G where I am.
I get a 403 error when I go to m.youtube.com
I think the youtube mobile site doesnt like PIE 6
Can anyone get a cab up for download?

I found a way around this.
If you are using a ROM with PIE 6 on it, you will need to use Opera to download the app, as YouTube Mobile doesn't recognize PIE 6.
Pop open Opera, and go to opera:config, scroll down to User Prefs and click on it, scroll down to Custom User-Agent and change it to "Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows CE; IEMobile 7.11)", scroll down to save and have it.
After that close out of Opera completely and open it back up. Browse to m.youtube.com and you should see the download link right below the search bar.
The default Raphael Opera User Agent should be "HTC-P4600/1.2 Opera/9.50 (Windows NT 5.1; U; en)"
weird ... i don't have user prefs in my opera:config
PIE6 worked fine for me as long as I had it set for mobile viewing.
Jeez you guys are difficult.
It works great. Other then that, the quality is pretty much poo.

Awesome, TC! Thank you!
Truthfully, I like HTC Youtube far better. Google Youtube streams faster (I suspect this is because I have High Quality set on HTC Youtube), but the video lags, and the interface is not as good as HTC's. Google Youtube seems to be more slick, and it does have an internal volume control (something HTC Youtube needs). Still, I just like HTC Youtube a lot more.
Nonetheless, I'm happy that Google is providing support for Windows Mobile now. Hopefully, we'll eventually get a program from Hulu. Once that happens, life is complete.
this is good...an alternative for nonHTC users

I thought so too, but it only overwrites the shortcut. After uninstalling Google YouTube, just follow these few steps to have the original HTC YouTube. Navigate to \Windows\YouTube.exe in file explorer, then click and hold to copy it, and then navigate to \Windows\Start Menu\Programs and click and hold to "paste shortcut". That's all there is to it...
And yes, HTC YouTube program seriously trumps the Google YouTube app here. Nice find though!
i really like the HTC youtube App Much better, Except for the Speed Difference. The WinMo App is about 10times faster. But the interface isnt as pretty!
