I have a Qtek 2020i and recently it got a serious battery problem. On a sudden the main battery started loosing its charge too early. It can become from 100% to 30% for a night (whan no operations are performed on the device). Before this breakdown the battery was loosing approximately 5% per night. At daytime when I use the machine, this process is quicker.
I use the battery for more than a year but the reason of the problem is not a battery. By the end of the day the meter shows 0% of the main battery (when in cradle, of course). Meanwhile the backup battery remains 100% and hard reset is not performed. If the main battery would really be 0%, I would loose all my data, but it never happens.
After I put my device in the cradle, it is "recharged" to 100% for less than an hour.
I made a hard reset of my device and after it the meter worked well. But after restoring the data from backup the problem reappeared.
I have some other problems that may be related to the battery problem. The Camera.exe looses its label in Programs and stops starting by pressing hardware button.
The device is loading slower after soft reset.
I change time for one Alarm. It works not only in the new time but also in all the previously set times.
There is a thread where similar problems were discussed, but there is no solution for the battery problem. Here is its link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=282763&highlight=battery
The problem may be in the register or in the battery driver or wherever. Please, someone help me and describe the solution for the other users of Apline.
Sounds to me like your battery is knackerd it does happen look on e-bay loads of places (usually in Hong Kong) selling new ones maybe even get a uprated one the standard one in the XDA IIi is a 1300Ah they do sell 2400 and even 3600 Ah ones I am in the process of buying a 3600Ah one myself, they are not a vast fortune (around £15 GBP) and worth that.
I have an upgraded battery myself. The computer behaves with it like with the 1300. Only the bigger battery discharges slower. But still quicker than few weeks before. This is a software problem and it disappears after the hard reset. But i don't want to make a hard reset and reinstall all my programs from zero. Besides, the problem can reappear. So, this is not a solution.
Software cannot run a battery down alone unless you have something permanatly turned on, that would be your choice.
if there is a hardware fault that could

i had a large capacity 3600mah battery and it was stuffed it would just lose all its juice instantly.
apart from getting a new bat, have you updated your firmware? or just reinstalling your firmware, there may a be prob with it.
but it does sound more likly that its time to buy a orbit
The most likely option is that wireless is on and not being indicated by the led or on the display, go into connections and see if it shows or better still see if your laptops wireless connection can see the phone, sometimes the indicator does not show but it is active.

I never made an update of my firmware. Dou you mean a hard reset by reinstalling the firmware or some updating (new ROM version etc)? The batteries come without any firmware. My ROM version is 1.11.00 WWE. I guess, there must be an update, but after updating the ROM I will lose all the date on the device, and I don't want this happen.

I made a test and my wireless is not on.
i ment the rom, sry i deal with pc`s all day and it tends to stick.
yup update the rom, this may be your porblem, but make sure you do not update it on a vista pc, as it wont and you will end up stuck in boot loader mode. only update on a XP machine.
failing that its a buggered battery
Now I will not do anything that can make me reinstall my programs (as i have many). I am looking for some registry key, a checkbox, a process to be killed to solve the battery problem and leave the whole system inchanged.
I already have a solution, but I am not satisfied with it. Thgat is to make a hard reset no backup. Naturally, I will have to reinstall all my programs after that.
This solution has two bad points:
1. Reinstallation of all programs. That is a several days of work.
2. I will not know the reason of the failure. If the problem keeps returning in future, I will have to repeat the whole process again and again.
After the hard reset the meter works good, so I am syre that the battery is not buggered.
I am begining to wonder if you have a virus in it causing the problem? do you have any AV software?
what software do u have on it that will take several days to reinstall? there may be some compatablitly problems with the programs fighting for resorces.
and if you do a hard reset u may as well update the firmware.
i have just installed a new touch screen on my dads 2020i (his second in 3 months) and had to reinstall over 16 programs and that only took 30mins including removing and resoldering the new touch pannel. his backup battery is dead ;[.
McAfee VirusScan McAfee VirusScan
I tested my device with Airscanner Mobile AntiVirus Pro and McAfee VirusScan. They did not find anything, as I had expected.
I also made a hard reset to my device and switched my batteries several times. The device was recognizing them and showing correct information about their state. Both batteries worked long and short periods of time. So, the batteries are perfectly alive as well as computer hardware.
I use my PPC extensively, as we are not allowed to have pirate software on office computers. So I often prefer the Pocket PC to the Desktop one. I have more than 50 programs installed on my Pocket PC: maintenance tools, GPS programs with maps and waypoints, a reader, a player with plugins, a dictionary with the complicated installation procedure, some games. The list is not full. The setups for all of them are situated in different places. I would also have to copy my contacts and appointments. These are not hard jobs, but there is too many of them.
Besides, I am not as proficient as you, skeeve666.
If I don’t find a solution for my problem, I will reinstall my software in the weekend. That will help me to make rearrangements in it. By the way, do you know, where the newest firmware is? Anyway by looking for the answer to the battery question I learn more about my device.
Who knows, maybe I am lucky.

like is said if you hard rest u may as well flash your firmware, and you said u hard reset.
why is this a problem? and no offensese and no need for you to take one, as you already have. but i realy dont see why you wont try this as you have already "factory reset" aka hard reset your phone. but after a reflash backups wont work.
as for the latest firmware just look in the update section. you must not update in vista only on a xp pc.
but after all this, it may just be a hard ware prob that only effects your battery monitoring
The reason why my battery was discharging so quickly is not known to anyone, including the staff of a service center. So, I made a backup of a faulty system (as a memory) and did a hard reset.
After a day of installing over 50 programs my computer is better than ever. I did not dare to install some other firmware but I placed as much data as possible to the Storage Card and now I have a maximum of 50 Mb free Program memory and 46 Mb of Storage memory. I upgraded some programs and improved the work of the other.
I am thankful to everyone who showed interest to my battery problem. I wish everyone good luck in using Qteks.
do you have a link to a 3600 mAh battery?

unfortunaly this was a while ago, and that battery was set for recylcing, but it is alot more bulky it sticks out about 4-5mm i have gone with 3 original batteries just have to swap them out
I bought a 3600mAh battery from Hong Kong was about £9.99 if I remember right but it came with a new back to cover the thicker battery and that battery lasts me up to 48 hours provided I dont leave the screen turned on best thing I have done for it IMHO
did some digging and I put this in another post
think this is the link
http://myworld.ebay.co.uk/battery_centre/
it cost £9.99 plus I think it was £4.99 P & P
Hi all,
I have installed the WM6.1 ROM 6.1.2a16CS by C. Shekhar on my qtek2020.
It is very cool and gave a second life to my qtek. I am just a bit surprised by the duration of the main battery. It is running out of bat very fast.
As I haven't used my qtek for month before installing the new ROM, I can't tell if it's a battery problem or because this new ROM is consuming more resources. Have you noticed such behavior on your machines?
For further info I am not using my qtek as cell phone. I am thinking about using it back as a phone, but I have first to fix this battery aspect.
Moreover I have read s/t about a battery fix, that I haven't installed yet. Can s/o tell me more about this fix and what it is doing?
Anyway this ROM is a great one.
Thx for your answers
Marc
I dont know about the battery fix but i have never installed any sort of fix like that either for wm5 or wm6.x. Are you sure there isnt some background process that keeps on continuously running? It could be a battery problem if the battery had discharged alot during the non-operational period. I changed by himas battery about 7-8months back because the last battery had gotten abit too old and was discharging very quickly.
i think you are talking about SD card fix..its a registery fix that makes the battery consumption by SD-card low
well, WM5 and WM6.x IMHO are battery consuming ROMs, i can attest to this,
experiment no. 1:
same xda, same battery (1200mAH original battery)
-with WM2003SE at normal use, XDA turns off approx after 36 hrs of use including standby.
-with WM5 and WM6.x, XDA turns off WM5-18hrs, WM6.x-25hrs of use including standby.
experiment no. 2:
two xda, different OS, both with brand new 3600mAH extended life battery.
in 1 day (at heavy texting use from 7am to 7pm):
WM2003SE XDA2 - battery from 100% to 58%
WM6.X XDA2 - battery from 100% to 35%
possible explanation:
WM6.x (WM5) uses more CPU time and Memory resources, plus it probably uses more power in maintaining the persistent storage, hard and soft reset persistent memory.

Ather, is this fix already in all/most recent releases? If not, can you give us a link? Never heard of it.
I have no battery problems, quite the contrary. My battery life is amazing me. To be honest I tweaked a lot when I started using WM6.x, too much to remember, too much to tell you.
but some parts:
I don't need 24/7 phone connection, Phone Alarm takes care of this for me
Use a bare minimum of today plug-ins
Avoid animations
Close programs except when you seriously do need them in the background
Heya Maggy...its long time since i saw u here.. think maybe month
welcome back ny ways
well that fix was in the Imate website..i have it
having some problem attaching on xda : http://www.2shared.com/file/3591354/873d3f18/SD-Card_Patch.html
Guys.. how to show the status of the backup battery?
any registry edit?
thanks guys..
running 6.5 os
I guess there is no way to show that status on WM 6.5. For me, I never saw anything like that in the roms I tested, till now.
The only way to say that it is damaged, is when you change the sim or the main battery and the device does a hr after inserting the main bat back in!
The backup battery should keep the device alive, at least for a few seconds to change the sim or the main battery, in all other cases it would be shown as 100% working, as it should do. Sometime the ramdisk is erased after running out of power, which might be a sign for a worn out backup battery.
This could only be prevented by keeping the main battery at a good power level, shutting down the device earlier by using proggis like batti.exe or changing the backup battery. But be carefull: You won't be the first to brick your hima!
Sometimes it hard to find the right battery, you can use the same as for the BA, I read somewhere arround here.
tnx.. muckelmaus..
hope some they there is a solution..
use software
Use Batti you will get to know your backup battery status then.
tnx.. guyz..
Hello Milestone users!
I am using Moto milestone for some time now and I have a question about battery calibration status. In NORMAL hacked recoveries there was an option "Wipe Battery Status". Of course in Open recover (got recovery and i guess adb recovery too) that option doesn't exist. I wonder if any of wipes available does something like battery status wipe? If so, does restoring nandroid system backup affect somehow battery capacity information? I'm asking because i get miserable battery life on single charge and i'm seeking for a reason (about 14h of well.. light usage...)
Sorry for any grammar/spelling mistakes, English is not my native language. I hope this post i readable

No worries: just open an adb shell and type the following.
mount -a
rm /data/system/batterystats.bin
The battery stats are stored in the mentioned .bin file!

According to my personal experience, whenever you flash a rom which is basically different from the one you are going to remove, it is useful to wipe the battery stats and charge the phone to its full capacity.
This is generally valid for all the android phones.

Please do the proper test before sending your phone to the assistance.
Consider that the battery life depends on:
- your peculiar usage (do you listen to music or play games?)
- the number of active widgets which connect to the net
- the quality of radio signal of the area where you are
- the temperature...
Consequently, wipe the battery stats, charge the phone to its max capacity and come back here!

OK, if users don't mind I will "extend" this thread and complain about my battery;
In general it looks like this:
-Auto brightness always on
-3G always on
-google sync on
-exchange sync on
-weather sync once for 4 hours
-news sync once for 4 hours
-no data absorbing widgets (only weather bug)
-no games
-no music
Oh, and about signal quality.. I almost always am in good range of 3g/hsdpa network
Now, I don't surf internet alot, but I read news when I go to work and home. Screen is active total 2,5h a day and according to battery use built in android screen absorbs up to 75% of whole battery! (usually 60-66%)
I made some reaserch one day and I wiped whole phone, switched to edge, disabled exchange sync so I used stock settings. No apps, no additional data (only google account) and battery still made only 14h... That made me think, that something is not quite ok.. I had previously htc magic and battery was not an issue that I would consider as important. (I know bigger screen etc, but still...) If you think I am doing something wrong please advise
I will try your tip with battery ststus wipe in a minute and will give report tomorrow or day after
Thank you for your help! I appreciate it!

Don't want to disappoint you, but from the description of your usage 14 hours might be normal. Especially with 2.5h screen being on. Few advices: disable google sync (I assume you use exchange) you will get 10-15% more. Make sure you don't have widgets that update themselves set to update too often, remove the weather widget from screen (just for a day to see what gives), consider installing SetCPU for root users (free for XDA members) and define some profiles like lower CPU frequency while screen is off, or when you reach certain batterly levels (of course if you have root).

I also had a magic and, according to my experience, the Milestone's battery lasts as long as Magic's one, if not a little more.
Switching from HTC to Motorola did not affect my usage abits, and maybe it's the same for you, so I think the differences may be due to the battery itself.
Try changing it!
Are there other ways to wipe the battery status other than using ADB?

Sure: you can manually delete the file "batterystats.bin" stored in /data/system/ using apps like Root Explorer. Before you have to set the filesystem as "read/write".
With the Magic it was also possible using the recovery; maybe the next releases of GOT's O.R. will add this feature.

Well, maybe you're right about usage. Physical qwerty under the 3.7 " screen... It screams for being used for browsing and reading news Good old magic wasn't that attractive.
I've wiped battery stats and if I don't use it a lot (1h screen on) and don't make many phone calls MS is able to make 24h uptime without charging. (Thanks for the tip, I didn't know it's that easy)
I guess I could send it to service just to make sure everything is technically ok, but atm I don't feel like stop using smartphone for over 2 weeks ^^

Please refer to thread "Milestone - Bateriowy koszmar" in the Milestone section of PDAClub.pl forum.
I have it off,all the time, but still baterry life sucks.
Unfortunately its something we have to learn to live with...

do you have to fully charge you battery to 100% before deleting the batterystats.bin? Or can you delete it whenever at whatever battery %?
As far as I know, if for any reason battery stats are messed up, you will not be able to charge the phone to 100%. I mean that the phone will display a full charge indication but the battery would not be 100%. Consequently, I'd suggest to wipe the battery stats befeore charging...
Do you guys suggest to Wipe Battery Stats? I never done it on my tab, but would like to hear your thoughts before i jump the gun,
Thanks
I dunno whether it is a battery problem or what but I got a brand new battery
coz the last battery was too bad but the new battery also sucks.
I was wondering if it was cause of the ROM and kernel so
I switched to stock rom for trial purpose and still I got juz like barely 7 hours of juice....
with juz some files thru bluetooth and half an hour or so of texting....
so what could be causing the problem?

I'm not really an expert on this... but I'll try!
First, data - depending on how often your apps that use data refresh, it may be killing your battery because they are always updating in the background
Next, apps - depending on how many are open, and trying to retrieve info or a responce, this may be killing your battery life
Another, backlight brightness - I would say half brightness looks almost the same as full brightness, so turn that down too. Another thing you can do is make sure that your phone times out so the screen is always on and sucking the life out of your battery
Plus, bluetooth and wifi - turn those off when you aren't using them! They turn on in a couple of seconds so there is no use in just leaving them on and draining your battery.
Lastly, I dunno what "kik" is (the app running in the corner of the status bar) but it may be using battery too (probably not because it isn't in the list of the battery use so I don't think that's it.
Anyways, in short, possibly shut off the data if you don't always use it (you don't have to tho ), go into the settings of apps, and get the refresh rate at a longer period of time (so they aren't always using data), kill any open apps if you can with an app manager, turn down the brightness of backlight, change the time it takes to shut off the backlight, and shut off the bluetooth and wifi when you aren't using it.
Unfortunatley the battery life on the Ace is far from the best, if anything it's terrible, but other than that I have very few issues with the phone.
Well... That's my two cents. Hopefully it helps, but if not, search around on the forums and see if you can find any other solutions. :fingers-crossed: I'm not the expert, but I'm trying to throw ideas out there. Good luck
Running background processes is a major battery kill. I used to get 12h+ on 3G with Stocklite V6. Never used heavy apps though. Just Textplus, Opera Mini to check fb sometimes and WhatsApp whenever someone talked to me. Light usage.
How much the battery lasts depends on the user completely.

I have to do this too because I found that after a half an hour after unplugging my phone with no use I lost 10% battery life, for no apparant reason. Search in the Play Store "BatteryCalibration". All you have to do is charge your phone to 100%, and tap the button . You usually have to do this after flashing a new ROM, because you might not flash it at 100% battery life and the stats go from there. So I would say, try it and see what happens.
Now... If not... The only other suggestion I have is if you find a battery booster app such as "Juice Defender" from the Play Store. I tried using it, but didn't see a huge difference (I don't have data, so I just keep it off), probably because I barely use my phone. I've also heard some thing about a script called "v6 Super Charger" (I've only heard of it, please search it if you want to know more because I sure don't ). Aparantly it boosts battery as well, but no promises haha.
If you are really desperate for better battery life, I would say switch to 2g service in the settings. Other than that.... I'm out for now
Hopefully this might help you out as well, but other than that the Ace is not well known for a good battery. But that's a mid range phone for you (but the Ace ain't no slouch either)
Anyway, goodluck!

Ok, so after looking around a little, I found a very interesting thread about Lithium-Ion batteries! Really cool and really worth the read! I learned quite a bit. Hopefully this answers any additional questions that I wasn't able to answer!

Try also eliminating any widgets or live wallpapers that you may have running. These might keep the processor running at a higher speed then neccessary, but no promises.... Plus I already mentioned closing apps you don't need (so this is pretty much the same woops) and you might have done it already.
The biggest thing to remeber is that you have to sacrifice performance for the best battery life. This may go as far as underclocking your maximum CPU speed, but this might cause some lagging especially at the startup. I think that this should be a last resort to be honest, because you still want to use a phone, and not a laggy device that you are trying to conserve as much battery as possible.
I also heard something about the motherboard possibly having a hardware fault in it causing excess discharge... But... I will need to do a little more searching to see if I can figure this out for you!
The other possiblity is that you get a power bank... But that just adds to what you have to pack around, so this is probably another last resort, but it's all up to you.

Probably the best thing to do! Sorry I couldn't be any help to you, so it's probably best if you do that. I love my Ace, but the battery just has to hold it back
It sucks, but anyway, I hope you can get it fixed!:fingers-crossed:
