On Tuesday I managed to drop my Kaiser in some water. As quick as I could I fished it out, removed the battery etc and put out to dry.
When it finally got to start again I noticed there was no USB - I tried re-flashing using the SD Card which eventually seemed to work, however I still have no USB. The phone charges fine via the usb connector but there's something up with the data lines - No PCs see anything connected to it and even the bootloader just shows serial - no USB.
This wasn't too bad as I can synchronise with my PC via Bluetooth which works fine, as does WiFi, GPS and normal phon operation.
Everything seemed ok until yesterday when the touch screen stopped responding. The phone itself works fine but I can only interact with the hard keys/keyboard.
Anyone have any ideas apart from just see if it magically starts working again? I'm not sure if the flash could be an issue as I had problems trying to flash - kept on getting failures flashing from the SD Card. I'm currently on 3.56, radio 1.65.28.25, rom of 3.57.502.2 (21159 WM6.5)
It would be nice to have the USB but that's not as important as the touchscreen. I'm learning to get by without either...
Help!!! I have tried searching but not come up with anything that works
Dude you dropped your phone in water, it's going to break.
What rom did you flash ? That looks like an AT$T rom with and AT&T Spl, but I see you are on Orange. And where did you come up with WM 6.5 in all this. Please tell us what rom and where did you get it, did you or do have Hard Spl on your phone and if your phone is stock or cooked ?
But...
I would understand it not working at all, but the way that everything seemed to work apart from the usb connection seems weird to me, but then I am not an electronics/hardware engineer, just a software engineer! I've seen elsewhere on the site that a screen that wasn't responding to touch seemed to sort itself days later so there's still hope....
OK... additional information if it helps... the phone itself is a Vodafone v1615 (Kaiser) which I've used since I've got it with an Orange 3G SIM (kindly provided by work). The phone had Hard-SPL 3.56, radio 1.65.28.25 as recommended for Anryl's 61129 WM 6.5 Rom. Everything worked fine before the water incident - I've been (ROM) flashing since I got the phone been through iterations of Dutty's ROMs, HyperDragon's to this one.
Like Chumley said, " you dropped it in water " so at this point, do a hard reset , keep your fingers crossed and que sera, sera.
oh lets go for a swim..

I just started another thread and then saw this one...
So I accident dropped my Touch into some water the other day.... Everything works except the screen... It works in somespots it seems but others Not.
Anything I can do to fix it or is it pooched for good. I guess it sounds like just try a hard reset and pray for the best.
Screen fixed!
Just to give an update, after a few days of learning how to use all the applications without a touch screen (for the times I really needed to, I used MyMobiler), yesterday a guy at work said that he had seen a suggestion to put the phone in a bag of rice! Thinking I had nothing to lose, last night (over a week since the kaiser got submerged) I put the phone in a sealed bag of rice for a couple of hours.
After flashing a couple of ROMs, I reset without the storage card in and clicked on the screen to calibrate the screen - and it worked!! I had put a blank file called welcome.not in the root of the storage card which normally bypassed the calibration - a very useful tip if you don't have a touch screen.
So now, I have a kaiser with a functioning touchscreen after being totally submerged in water a week back. The only issue I seem to still have is that I can't connect to a pc using the usb cable, although I can charge using it. HardSPL doesn't show USB when invoked The other thing is that sometimes the storage card isn't recognised, although it usually is when the kaiser is plugged into the usb to charge or a usb converter in connected. Slightly wierd that one.

I hate for this o be my first thread on here, but I rendered my Tilt unusable and after searching around I can't find any information on how to fix this.
Last week I dropped my my Tilt, the battery fell out, and when I turned it back on all the settings had been reset to default. I was trying to fix this today and had just gotten around to reinstalling HTC Home when things started getting buggy. It said I didn't have enough memory, but there was pretty much nothing visible in file explorer for me to delete and I was unable to open "remove programs." I tried to just do a hard reset but being an idiot I guess I misunderstood the directions and nothing has been working since.
The first thing I saw was the tri-color screen with "Serial" at the bottom and "KAIS1*0 MFG, SPL-1.0.Olipof, CPLD-8" up top in the red. When I hit the soft reset button I et he AT&T screen and the regular numbers in red but it stalls there. I can get back to the tri-color screen by soft resetting while holding down the power and camera buttons, but otherwise I always soft reset to the AT&T screen and stall there. Can anyone tell me what I might want to do? Thanks.
By "stall" how much time have you given it? The first boot after a hard reset is always going to be much longer

You have just Bricked Your Phone. But I think you can Recover. Press and Hold Down the Caera And Power Buttons and Stick yourstylus in the Soft RESET Hole. Hold Them And See if you get back to the Tri-Colour Screen. If you can then Bonus And you may be able to recover.
It's definitely 100% stuck at that screen, I left it for 15+ minutes.
I really hope its not bricked I CAN get back to the tri-color screen...
Edit: I just realized that it flashes "No Image File!" right before going to the tri-color screen.
Do you see "USB" at the bottom of the bootloader screen if it is connected to your PC when you turn it on?
You also have the option of trying to flash a new ROM using a microSD card.

That was going to be my next Step. If you can See USB when you plug it into your computer You are in luck. Also, DO you have an MicroSD Card?
Actually I haven't had a chance to connect it to my PC yet, I'm not at home. I also have never flashed a different ROM onto it or done anything that should void the warranty so I'd be really surprised if I was able to brick it this easily.
Edit: I should be back at my PC later in the week so I'll try that, thanks. I also DO have a micro SD card.

Then all is not lost. Let us know what happens when you get to a PC with a Sync Cable.
Alright, will do, thanks for your help!

Actually it looks like your device is HardSPL'd so your warranty is VOID. But I don't think that is your problem. It looks like this is something your going to be able to fix as suggested once you get to a computer. Many devices have been saved from this point as long as you take your time and be very careful on what you do. Esp if you have to get in useing the command line.

Hello people,
I have a serious issue with my Wizard. After a lot of searching, trying things, etc, i still can't get it fixed I'm ready to give up because it's driving me nuts :/ So anyway, i bought replaced my dead battery a while ago. My Wizard was rebooting constantly and was more or less useless, and after trying a lot of things i concluded it was the battery's fault, so i replaced it.
After that i flashed to a TNT Professional ROM, and all was good. Or at least, that's what i thought. My reception was almost completely gone, i had no reception for most of the time and the times i had reception it was almost nothing. So i flashed back to the 2.19 radio, wich should be stable and one of the best. This didn't changed an awfull lot
But the worst part, my Wizard continued being unstable, even with my new battery. But this time my Wizard doesn't reboot, it crashes to a white screen. The white screen doesn't appear at once, the screen kinda fades to white, line by line. Weird stuff. So i decided to flash another rom, the WizFlo one (with Manilla).
This rom proved to be even more unstable, and still had the white screen problem.
I've had just about enough of my Wizard right now and i want to flash back to the original (T-Mobile WM5) Rom, to see if that solves the stability issue or not. The problem is, ever since i have the WizFlo rom, i can't flash anything. Not in XP, not in Vista, not in normal mode, not in bootloader mode. I can use Active Sync/Mobile Device Center, the Wizard will connect but won't sync data. And it won't flash ROM's, since i get the "PDA doesn't respond" or a "isn't connected" error :S My PDA does give some error, but the text balloon doesn't display correctly so i can't read it :S (yes, there is a WizFlo fix for this, but that doesn't even install..)
So now i'm stuck with a non-working ROM without the option to flash another rom. Can anyone help?
Hi Johrizz----
Well tell me...
Does your wizard is fine... working but!!!!!!!!! Suddendly!!!!! the screen begins to dissappear line by line and becomes white.... then stucks there and it needs to soft reset!!!??????
Well you hava battery issue your battery is bad!!! dont works!!!! turn on your device fine.... unplug your battery suddendly you see that the screen is getting the same but shutdown of course... so maybe the "new" battery shows full charge but nop! isn truth your batt is lying!!!! hahaha
I felt Like Dr. House
Try to use your old battery full it! at 100% then downgrade to the original then upgrade again to Wizflo if you want... everything with the batt at 100% dont do the upgrade process with your new batt anymore you will gonna brick your phone...
try to find a new one or try your new batt with other wizard maybe witha a friend's wizard. if your friend's wizard starts to ****ed up is your batt if is not... see it at your back case again... i have one with the same problem and when I saw that is not the prob i saw that my batt dont assets very well in mobo and scratch a little the terminals on batt and on the device diassemble it and i see the pins on the device werea little pushed more than normal... and buy a new back case these two things help me a lot without buy a new Battery cell.

I'm not quite sure i understand your English, but i don't think it's the battery. I mean, i just got a brand new one from the store :S Oh and flashing worked perfectly with the new battery, the "PDA not responding" thing is only since the WizFlo ROM. (But the crashes were even before that)
However....
Do something... if works or dont... try another thing...
Dont come and reject all!!!! Dr. Chase!
hahah I like Dr. house
Oh, really? You're not helping
Amazing!!!!
You are saying im not helping you!!!!????
You are like my mom men!!!!!
So... maybe somebody answers your interesant problem...
See you soon men

Right, now i really don't understand what you're saying...
First of all, always flash with a fully charged battery, check if the battery is fully charged.
Secondly,Flash on a WinXP machine, its highly recommended,Vista still has problems.Activesync is not required for flashing. So either disable it and delete the partnership with the phone and delete the profile.Diable Anti Virus/Firewall before flashing and try to close as many programs/applications running in the background through Task Manager.Don't use pc for any other purpose like Microsoft office or surfing the net during flashing.
Connection errors are mainly due to weak or dead battery,so confirm you have a good and fully charge battery, your new bought battery cud also be faulty, either recharge your old battery and check it out or borrow/bye a new battery of renowed brand.
Whitening of screen cud be due to many reasons, like weak battery,Flex cable underneath the screen may be faulty or detached or Digitizer of the screen going weak.
Sarcasm....
Hahahaha I have read your green (blue?) square at your signy...
I dont Understand... your not helping me Zabardast!!!
OMG!!!
Sorry Zabardast I need vacations....
Bon Voyage Budy!
I just got back from holiday, and whilst on holiday i was using the ear phones & music player on the phone. I made the mistake of sitting down, catching the ear phones plug & bending it whilst it was plugged in. This has damaged the USB port. It still charges, but the ear phone/connectivity pins have been broken within the phone.
Too make matters worse, i reset the phone soon after (soft reset) only to be greeted with the screen below. I have tried a hard reset, loading the bootloader (camera, power & reset buttons) and every other combination of buttons iv found on the internet. So far nothing has helped/changed it. The screen doesnt rotate with the keyboard, and the off button doesnt work. (turns phone on, but not off).
I am tempted to send the phone off to HTC, as it is under warrenty but i dont know whether the fact it has a custom ROM on will effect it at all. iv had minor problems with the screen i would ask them to look at aswel.
Would a broken USB be fixable under warrenty? Then would a custom ROM (even if it doesnt boot) cause a fuss? Then finally, is there anyway to flash a new ROM to the phone without using the USB card?
many thanks guys, any advice is appreciated

iv read up on flashing a new rom via my sd card, but i am really struggling to find a the .nbh file (which i then rename). I dont spose anyone can link me to a standard .nbh file could they? Hopefully this will enable me to get it next to standard prior to sending it off to HTC.
thanks guys
if its an .exe rom update, use winrar to extract it and there you'll find the .nbh
I had the same problem, broken usb on at&t tilt, flashed a shipped rom and got a new device via a warranty exchange. I couldn't get the SPL back to original but the guys at the device support center didn't notice.
thank you for the reply mate, was just what i needed!
Unfortunatly it didnt work, and even having put the file on my SDcard and resetting the phone it still boots to the tri colour screen. Got my hopes up, as the phone did load the file and run through it...only for me to reset it and it go back to the tri colour screen.
Will the HTC device centre likely accept it all the same?
cheers guys
Tried it again, this time resetting it, loading up from the SDcard then taking the card out before resetting. Now im getting:
'' Upgrade ROM code error Please try again ''
RUUNBH has also appeared in the top right hand corner, with the same tri coloured screen.
As this is not covered by warrenty (spoke to HTC today) im a bit worried about what i can do. Does anyone have any ideas i could try?
thanks
hello
I have got a problem with my xperia, the top bar shows that my stereo headset is connected but is not...therefore, i cant hear anyone who is trying to call me or i call anyone.. i have been in a vodafone store and they could not find a solution, i also have done hard reset and is still the same... now im about to flash new rom. would that be a solution or any of you got different?
please help me, thanks in advance
try connecting headset again but give it a wiggle about, not too much also try pulling it out and puting it back in quickly several times in a row. be carefull.
i tried that already, not working
after a hard reset i can only assume it's a hardware fault, so i would go get it fixed because if you flash a new rom that will invalidate your waranty.
do that in the FMradio application
thank you guys, i also think that i should return it for vodafone service..
i tried in fmradio and still no working
sorry to hear that. good luck with that
last time that annoying thing happened to me i had to go to the htc HD fm radio app and plug and unplug the offical 3.5 connector to make it work( try plugging->listen to radio->set output to speakers-> then unplug)
a bunch of questions:
-what rom are you using
-did you try different 3.5 connectors
-is the earphone that caused the problem low quality?
the last time this happened to me i used the stylus and just waggled about for ages and ages and eventually the sensor registered that the headphones weren't plugged in.
do a search as plenty of people have had the exact same problem ...
good luck !
yes - just waggle the stylus around in it until it goes - worked for me
thank you..the thing with stylus works, hopefully but its still anoying to do that every time i put my headset
i have got an original vodafone uk rom
yes, i have tried many different headsets
the quality is fine
I have the exact same problem on my 4 month old X1, and now i dont rly know how hard i should wiggle with the stylus...

try waggling and then try inserting the headphones a few times and taking them out too
I've had the same prob for a week now.
After reading up on other HTC phones with the same issue I've found that what went wrong was a little hardware switch inside the jack failed to reset to its off position when the headphones where removed.
To locate the switch:
Turn the phone onto back so that the screen is facing upwards. The switch is at the 4-5 o'clock position if you look directly at the headphone jack, at around 1cm in.

I inserted a small pin which was bent a little at the end to relative position I have described and after I felt it snag just gave it a small wiggle. When doing this I noticed the headphone icon would disappear for a second and return.
This is how I knew I was in the correct position. Then I gave it a good twist.
(I think anti clockwise, but you will know from which direction worked when you wiggled)
The headphone icon disappeared for good and now I'm back to normal phone use!
(Do this at your own risk! But its more precise than sticking the stylus in blind)

DO NOT RETURN IT. This happened to me once, and ONLY once after using the phone for like 6 months. I soft reset and nothing happened.
There is something wrong with the way the device toggled the connection. Just replug and unplug and press play and pause on your video/music player. It should purge sooner or later.
You can also hard reset your device you will find that the problem will most likely purge.
@Charcobeans: Thanks, it worked within 5 seconds Thats just the instructions I searched for. Waggling around did not work, but more precise it was easy. Thanks!
Hey guys, I'm pulling my hairs out on this problem I am getting with my note 4.
Long story short - I cannot get a GPS fix (to even a single sat) with my N910T.
The longer version:
This thing had a cracked screen - but worked great before that (no GPS problems) and I used it a good year before breaking it. So I bought a N910A (ATT) note 4 to use the screen to fix my trusty note.
I gutted both phones, and put my N910T motherboard in the N910A's frame, with the screen still attached to the frame. I kept the N910A's USB daughterboard (with the charging port) because in the research I did, it seemed basically identical to the one from my broken screen frame, and I knew it would be tricky to get that out and into the new one without busting the new glass or destroying the flex cables.
So after some trouble with the S pen not working initially (the cable didn't press in fully, had to stick paper behind the flex cable and it went in properly) I was able to get the phone up and running again, and all features seemed to work great again.
However - I noticed after a couple days that the GPS was super spotty, so bad it was mostly unusable. I noticed that AGPS was on and it was using wifi and mobile data to help get a fix, so I turned it to GPS only mode. In GPS only mode the phone gets not signal whatsoever, no matter where I am.
I tried the simple fixes many recommend online, one which is to try tightening the screws a bit, and in fact, as this process continued I opened and closed up the phone several times, making sure to carefully but tightly screw all the screws back into place. That didn't help. I also tried making sure the compass calibration was good - and it made no difference. And I even factory reset to make sure there were no issues with installed apps or anything like that.
I got to thinking, perhaps its a issue with the small bendable pins that press from the motherboard into the mid-frame not making good contact, so I tore the phone down a couple more times, slightly bent out - very carefully - all the pins that press into the mid-frame to make them all have a solid contact, and even tried to get any corrosion or debris from the pads on the mid-frame. I even made sure there was contact for those little ones alone the sides of the phone which seem to have something to do with the buttons rather than what I'm dealing with.
Still no luck, so I tried doing a NV rebuild, which I read might solve getting 0 sat fixes, and discovered my phone wouldn't let me into that menu of the service options, so I had to install root and then do it through shortcut master instead. Once I finally was able to get to the menu and run the NV rebuild.... nothing changed.
So I am fresh outta ideas, and I'm thinking that A) that ATT USB daughterboard actually plays a part in GPS somehow and I need to take my TMO one out of the old phone and put it in the new frame and screen.... or B) Something is damaged on my motherboard.... or C) Somebody out there has a better solution
Any ideas, experiences of what worked are all appreciated!
BUMP --------
Still having this issue. Tried opening it up, and realllllly making sure those antenna springs are making contact, and I made sure the contacts on the mid frame are clean.
I tried TopNTP and that made no difference. Here is an image of whats going on when I run GPS Test:

Bump?
Losing hope for my old phone here
Anybody happen to know if the daughter board that has the USB charging port plays any role in gps?
