Stupid Noob Over Here : What to start with ?

Hi, I'm new here, I bought myself a HD months ago , I doesn't know how to flash my rom yet .
I already read all the thread over here, search the noob thread and read the wiki page , I understood all of them , but the problem is, I don't know where to start ? Can anyone help me here ? Pleaaseee
my current rom version is 1.18.707.3 , radio 1.09.25.14

Well, if you've read all the threads and all the wiki and understood them, I'm surprised you need to know were to go now!!
Best place to start if your looking to flash a new rom, is to read up on the particular rom you want in its thread and then try it out. But if you've already read up on these you would surely already know that, no?
To flash any new rom or radio you gonna need either USPL or HSPL. Info on these in the wiki (which you've already read) and also in cRaCKwHoRe's guide in my signature.
The best way to know which is best suited for you is to read up on each and try them out!!

Hello,
Congrats ! and welcome to the club.
1. I would suggest you to Go through all the WIKI Documents to understand what is Flashing and other Technical Terms.
2. At least try to learn about HSPL, USPL, and Radio Etc.
3. After reading all this ask yourself whether you are comfortable syncing the Windows Mobile with your computer.
4. If you are ready, then really ask yourself whether you need to flash the Cooked Rom or better to stick with Shipped Rom.
If you made up your mind to go for Cooked Rom. All you need is to use HSPL or USPL and flash the desired cooked Rom.
Infact everyone was noob before they try including me… So cheers and Happy Flashing
Note: I preferred to use HSPL 1.56 and Dutty’s 3.3 cooked Rom.

Phone Service doesn't work in cooked ROMs

Hi Everyone,
i flashed my Blackstone with many cooked ROMs and i have same problem.
i cant switch on my Phone Service.
There are some i tried:
RUU_Dutty_s_HD_WM6.5_R9_5.2.23016.5.3.0_1.59.709.0_Radio_52.62.25.34_1.14.25.24_Turbo
RUU_Dutty_s_HD_WM6.1_V4_5.2.21052.1.6.5_1.59.709.0_Radio_52.62.25.34_1.14.25.24_Finale
[ROM][GER][UC][02.08.2009] cmEHD .02 (23016)
and more....
Its works just in BlackStone_HTC_GER_1.14.407.3_Radio_52.49a.25.26_1.09.25.14
i have "1.14 HSPL"

When you are flashing your phone, are you using USPL or HSPL? I tend to use USPL and the graphic interface to install USPL. Then its as simple as using the RUU. I don't use the sd card method.
If you haven't yet (but l'm sure you must've) read through as much as you can on the flashing procedure on this site as you can before flashing, as there may be a step you are missing or something may need updating first.

You need to use HSPL 1.56 for roms based on 1.56+.
You can either use HSPL 1.56 or USPL
Flashing guide can be found here and HSPL 1.56 here. Any queries on either please post in relevent thread.

Sometimes Frozen ! I wonder what i need ?

I know i should read all threads.But to make this clear i should know what am i supposed to look for.
I was familiar with HTC but suddenly changed my mind and bought X1.i think its better then HTC in some or most ways.
Only problem is it freezes sometimes and some programs did not react as they should.
Here is details of my X1
Rom : 1.02.161.7
Radio : 1.06.25.29
Can you guide me to speed up and be updated.

your rom is out of date so you must update your rom from sony ericson web site that will bring your rom to latest one.initial x1 rom has a lots of bugs.so you can start from rom update.good luck.
ps:for official rom update you do not need hard spl...

Custom rom + make sure the pagepool is 16-20mb. You can change it with the pagepool utility and the .nbh rom image.

Newbie in ROM installation

Hi,
I read about ROM that can be downloaded to upgrade PPC. I downloaded the the WM 6.5ROM for my OPAL.
I just fell confused about some points that I hope you can help me with:
Do I have to install any SPL or HardSPL to be able to install the ROM?
Is there any stable version of WM 6.5 for opal or most of them have bugs?
I also hope that posters of new ROMs include all necessary steps to install their ROM and don't rely on the previous knowledge so newbies don't feel lost all the way.
Thanks to all of whoever exerted effort to please us with new ROMs and apps.

Any way, thanks for watching this topic, I found an answer that could be useful to others, it is the steps necessary to install your ROM (it uses Diamond but same steps applied)

[SOLVED] Help with upgrading

Hi, I would like to upgrade my phone to the latest ROM / Windows 6.5
My phone have:
SPL-1.54.0000
ROM version: 1.56.405.1 (43972) WWE
Can someone point me in right direction?
P.S. I'm new to this.

I would advice to upgrade to SPL 1.56+ and than flash one of the roms already cooked by the chef's. Use the method that they advice. usually its pretty straight forward. You unpack the zip/rar and find two files in. execute the exe while your blackstone is connected in active sync to your pc and follow the steps. you must have at least 50% battery. I use Energy roms v21916 which are the most stable ones in my opinion but thats for you to find out... gl

CAn you point me to post that descibes updating to SPL 1.56+? I managed to install coocked ROM on SPL 1.54 using USPL route but I'm guessing SPL 1.56 is newer / faster / better so it would be really useful to upgrade to this version. Can you tell me how I can do it?
