No, there is just one way, which is described within the HSPL thread.
Make sure you are using the SSPL and are flashing the correct image (by that I mean you're not re-flashing Hard SPL).
Any other problems please post in the Hard SPL thread - Thread closed.

Is there any risks involved by connecting a custom rom device to SEUS and install the rom there?
Does this remove all customisations made to the device?
If not what do I need to download to restore it to factorysettings?
Yours,
Tharok
Customisations are about software. Flashing ROM back to the original one implies loosing all your software and related customisations.
As far as I know, there are no cons on flashing an original ROM from a custom ROM. SEUS should recognize your Xperia as always and "upgrade" to official ROM.
P.S.: if you want a completely official device, please remember to flash also SPL

Where to download the official SPL. Please provide the link for download. Is Hard SPL different from official SPL?
Hmmm... if you have Hard-SPL fromOliNex I suppose you read the whole thread on Hard-SPL. Please read the thread on Hard SPL again and there you will find all the information on official SPL and how to restore it.

Why don't you take some time and read the sticky before you post?
Even the first question in the beginning is being answered many times (at least once by me) and some newbie just post without search.
I've got a few questions, hope no one minds answering. If it's a simple case of RTFM then lock the thread and trash.
1. I've rooted and am using the latest JF build but when I go to telnet I can't connect to localhost anymore. Is this normal?
2. I'm running stock SPL and Radio (not too sure what the radio is btw). Is it best I update before flashing anymore roms?
3. I'm wanting to flash to Cyanogen Mod rom, it looks a lot more complex than simply renaming the rom to update.zip then flashing. Is it safe to assume that there is a lot more work to do? (if so a general point in the right direction would be greatly appreciated).
I really appreciate any help.
Thanks
1. I'm not sure as it has been some time since I last used JF's build I'm afriad...
2. Its advisable at the very least to upgrade your radio (look at my signature for a link). You can upgrade your SPL too providing you have flashed the latest radio FIRST and that you are on a PVT motherboard.
Boot into the SPL to find that out (turn off/reboot the mobile, Hold CAMERA+POWER). It should say at the top.
3. To use Cyanogen's ROM its like flashing any other ROM. Just make sure you have the latest Radio FIRST. Also I believe it works fine for non Apps2SD users so no need to partition your SD card etc to use it.
Hope that helps.
Stock SPL? do you mean HARDSpL?

Unless it was updated while rooting it's probably "G1 Original SPL"
Thanks NeoBlade, I'll update the radio and spl tomorrow then probably try and get nandroid running so I've got a backup in case anything goes wrong.
No worries digital, just do your usual pre-checks before flashing the SPL and remember Radio first ^_-
You'll enjoy the new features and performance improvements using the latest cooked ROMs out there. Most of the info is in my signature but you can also flash the new Recovery image too by Cyanogen (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=523558).
Not only can you create a Nandroid backup from there, you can also restore it too all from your mobile ^_^
Not to be an @ssh*le, but if you root your phone don't you already have the HardSPL? If you follow Koush's guide you were told to flash the HardSPL which isn't the stock SPL at all. Care to shed some light on this?
He could have had the engineering SPL, I remember having that briefly myself in the early days. The main thing is that he just wants to run Cyanogen's ROM so as long as he updates the radio and flashes the ROM without issues it should be fine. Unlike some Hero ROMs it doesn't require the latest SPL to create space for the ROM.
Granted though, its often always nice to have the latest stuff ^_-
Ok well if you DECIDE to update to the latest radio and SPL just go to my guide below and go to the second post. That will tell you how to install the radio and spl updates!
Good luck!
Indeed ^_^ And once that's done, perhaps change the title to SOLVED so people know. We shall have to wait for digital to get back to us about it.
This is the guide I used:
http://haykuro.theiphoneproject.org/?page_id=35
Sorry alritewhadeva:
I'm on the HardSPL so I guess I don't need to bother updating that again. I didn't get to the point where it said to update to the newest radio.
Reading a bit further it also says that I can do a backup easily using adb which is already setup. At some point in the process it must have installed the things needed for nandroid backup. I think it was the recovery.img part.
Thanks for the great link Nephron, I used it before to setup adb on my netbook (running win7 on my main machine).
Before I flash the latest radio is it safe to do this *after* updating the spl?
Thanks for all the great help, I really appreciate it.
As a thumb of rule, always flash the radio first before the SPL and the ROM.
Tell us how it goes ^_^ If you've managedto do it, could you please edit the title then to add SOLVED? Good luck.
Soo do you have to flash the radio and SPL everytime you want to flash a rom??? i already have the latest radio, i just want to make sure i dont make a mistake

No you don't. Only once... then kind of keep an eye on the forum to see if better radio or SPL comes along. So far I had to update my radio once. What recovery image do you have (home+power), is it still JF1.43? You should update that to CM 1.4, you get a lot more flexibility with that... read up on it in development forum. All in all, unless you plan to install Hero anytime soon (and I personally don't recommend it, too slow and buggy) you should be good with (in that very order)
1. Flashing newest RADIO (Haykuro has it in the link you provided, only need to do it once and you already did it!)
2. Flashing HardSPL (you already did that too! no need to do it again)
2. Updating your Recovery Image (once more, this only needs to be done once)
After that - flash any rom you feel like at any time you feel like doing it.
Hope that helps, good luck!
I agree with everything borodin1 said. If you're on a 1.5 ROM you really should have the new radio already, but you can always go back and flash it. Afterwards you'll want hard SPL or haykuro's. Haykuro's is what you'll need for most HTC based ROMs (Hero, Rogers). Most people brick when flashing Haykuro's ROM because they don't read. Aslong as you have the new radio and a PVT phone (go to the bootloader - home + camera - and it should say PVT) you will be fine.
Apparently the theme I want to switch to requires a custom SPL. I have some questions about that process. First, which SPL should I use: HardSPL or the Danger/Haykuro SPL?
I've read that flashing a new SPL is more dangerous than rooting/flashing ROMs and poses a higher risk of bricking your device, is that true?
As for the installation procedure, I was going to use the guide at towards the bottom of this page. Is that the best method to use? I'm new to all of this, so thanks all for your patience!

haykuro, and make sure you flash the radio first. Find yourself a good guide. I recommend theunlockr.com

i recommend the danger spl too. but "danger" is really an extreme term. if you read up on it, reread it again, do EVERY instruction as it says, you'll do just fine. i've done it twice already (yes, on the same phone) and i've succeeded both times. do your research and you'll do fine.
Thanks for the responses. I'll do what was suggested and use the Danger SPL, but what exactly is the difference between the two and why is Danger better?
As far as getting the SPL file on my SD card, I was planning on downloading it to my computer and then copying it to the SD using the USB cable (since I won't have access to a card reader until Saturday). Is that acceptable?

READ, READ AND READ THE INSTRUCTIONS AGAIN. When you know for sure you know what your doing, read it once more.
Secondly make a nandroid backup.
Next mount your sdcard so you can access it from your computer and then place the spl in the root of your sdcard. Then copy your nandroid backup to your computer (say c:\g1backup for example) unmount your sdcard.
Reboot into recovery and flash the latest radio (you should already have it... but just to be safe) then flash your spl.
Reflash the Cyanogen Rom. Unfortunately, I found this to be necessary because using the Danger SPL modifies the /system/ partition so you can't restore your nandroid backup... but you should be able to restore your data after you flashed your rom.
cd c:\g1backup\nandroid\H*\*\(latest_nandroid_name)\
fastboot flash userdata data.img
Binary, when you talk about READING THE INSTRUCTIONS MANY TIMES, can you please paste me the link with the exact instructions that I should follow? Thanks

Scroll down to "Flash the New RADIO and SPL" Follow the directions completely. Don't skip anything.
there you go malaeus
i have read all the wonderful posts about Hard SPL and haykuro's death SPL.
i have successfully made the transition to haykuro's death SPL myself, however. a friend of mine has a G1 as well, i have rooted their phone. and put the latest cyanogen mod on it. i have NOT updated the SPL for cyanogen (because it was optional, and they didnt want a chance of brick)
NOW they want me to try out a new mod for them on their phone. this new mod requires the death SPL, however they already have the LATEST radio 26I.
am i able to simply flash the new haykuro death spl like anything else? with no issues seeing as how the phone already has the latest radio (thanks to cyanogen build)?
i cant risk bricking his phone as i have no cash to replace it.

okay If you have to have the latest version of the radio on the phone before you upgrade the spl, then why would you not just upgrade the spl? since you already have the latest radio.search for this in dream general forum: Haykuro SPL 1.33.2005
leave it all blank

the reason i didnt just f**in flash the SPL is..
BECAUSE ITS NOT MY DAMN PHONE IN THE FIRST PLACE!
i already did the spl on my own forever ago, but all at once. with the radio.
this guy had it on there for awhile.
if anyone would have actually just read my post and given me a simple answer ... i swear this is just sick....
thanks for the simple answer, and for the sarcasm, go shove it.

dude chill, I did this kindly for you without sarcasm. Why do you have to freak out when someone calmly tells you how to do something?

why not just flash the haykuro radio just to be safe? reflash the radio then the spl.
I changed my SPL and Lately ive been having problems with my phone, so im going to start from scratch tomorrow. I am just wondering if i need to change my SPL back to the original one or is everything included in the unroot process at theunlockr.com... Here? Thanks and Mods feel free to move this.
as long as its the origional mt (not 1.2) you just put the sappimg.nbh file on sd card, boot into hboot/fastboot and flash the image. done.
ok thanks.
Questions that need answers should go in the Questions and Answers forum. The development forum is for development.
Moved.

Presumably you have installed an engineering SPL or partial-engineering SPL. Once you have such an SPL installed, DO NOT EVER go back to a consumer-SPL. There is ZERO benefit of doing so.
If you need to use OEM images, get the ones hosted at developer.htc.com and write them using FASTBOOT.
