Can't install any application - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

Since about two days ago I'm not able to install any application. Whenever I run the install I get the following message: Installation of [ApplicationName] was unsuccessful.
I've switched the phone off and on and cleared more storage space but I'm still getting them same message.
This happens with every application I try to install, even ones that I've installed successfully previously.
Anyone have any ideas what could be causing this?

If you go to the setting - system - remove program, did you see anything listed there. If nothing there, your system db could be corrupt. You will need to restore at least the system db backup portion using your sprite backup. In my case, the active sync corrupt my database when I connect my ppc to my deskyop. I have to uninstall and reinstall active sync.

You're right I'm not seeing anything listed there.
How do I restore the system db backup? Is this something that comes standard with the phone?

I am having exactly the same problem.
I have tried 3 roms (Shaks, Nataly, AZTOR) but almost every cab I try to install either says "Installation was unsuccessful" or first it says "AppX" cannot be installed. To try installing to a different location, choose a location:
I have done hard resets, hard with clear nand (lost all my pictures!), format internal storage, dl'ed new cabs from 3 different browsers on two different connections. copied to the device with "Disk Drive" mode and Activesync.
I do hope someone can help!

Update: I can install the same failed apps if I use the CABviaActivesync util. I think my internal storage may be f***ed.
Update2: I can install the same cabs from / but not from internal storage.
Update3: I tried copying a cab to the internal storage and then move it to / and again it did not install. Copied the same cab to / and it installed ok.

Unable to reinstall programs after SD stopped working

Yesterday my program files folder in my storage card (4gb Kingston) got lost, instead of that 2 (@#%)*% or sth) appeared so decided to delete everything in my storage card, but now when I try to install the programs I had (some of them, ie. MedCalc) installation was unsuccesful, what do I have to do to reinstall them?
Maybe try to go to Remove Programs and try uninstalling the programs that were on the card - it might be failing as it thinks they're already there.

Woke up this morning and had the exact same thing happen. Uninstalled all the programs from the card and deleted the folder. Reinstalled and the all seem to be working fine now. Unfortunately my speaker just stopped working, so now I'm trying to find a fix for that. Did you just upgrade to the official ATT wm6.1 update on the htc site. I got a text from ATT on Wed and upgraded it last night, went ok, but today I've been finding all kinds of wacky things going on.
PS I have an 8gig Scan Disk. So it can't be a brand thing.
they dont appear in the remove programs list, because i had done a hard reset a few days ago,

Hard reset question.

Okay, the problem is -- I recently installed a theme on my internal storage, and no matter what I do, it doesn't want to uninstall. I tried going to start-settings-syystem-remove programs, but it didn't work. I tried running the cab file and letting it uninstall but it didn't work. So, i think the only other option is a hard reset. But, i want to back up everything on my internal storage. However, if i backup everything then restore, the theme will still be 'installed' correct? All i want from this is the theme uninstalled. I have the cab files of my other programs so i could easily load them up after the hard reset. I do want to keep my pictures and videos etc. Any ideas on how to accomplish this?
If you do a hard reset it will leave your internal storage intact, with no programs, or themes installed, you can then safely remove whatever folders/files it created on your internal storage when you installed it.
However you will need to reinstall each of you proggies as well that you need.
Maybe you could change the file extension, that could help if you want to delete the file.
I want to clear my internal storage with my hard reset, so if I save my backup file onto my internal storage, won't the backup file be deleted?
yes.....back things up on your pc if you are deleting both device and internal storage. PC backup is crucial anyway.
A hard reset won't clear your internal memory as well, you'll need to format that using the phone.
Well i want to format the internal storage so I have to go to start-settings-system-clear storage? But before that I probably should send everything to my PC so I can just send it to my phone after, correct?
Steps
1) send everything to your pc
2) after the transfer, begin to delete files from Internal using your PC
3) hard reset phone (will bring you back to manufactures specs with what ever rom you have)
Would i delete files from internal via my PC with ActiveSync? That doesn't seem to work for me half of the time.
To get the fastest response, when you connect the usb cable choose the Disk option, this will load the internal memory as a memory stick / flash drive in your My Computer, from there you can backup what you need and then format the drive. Putting it in Disk Mode is more or less same as ActiveSync but syncs direct with the internal memory chip so allows for faster file transfer
Steps one and two completed. Should I do a hard reset and press volume down instead of volume up? Or shouls i clear storage?
If you have backed up what you need, format the internal storage from either your PC or phone, then do the Hard Reset. Once done your back to square one, out of the box type with your phone.
I remember having a similar problem when I was trying to install a clock...
No matter how I tried to remove it, it just wouldnt remove completely. The name was no longer appearing in the "Remove Programs" list but there were still bits and pieces of the clock on my today screen...
Eventually, I just installed another clock over it and when I went to remove this new clock, it seems the uninstall process also removed the junk that was left over from my initial install... Everything was back to normal after that and I didnt need to do a hard-reset...
Maybe give that a go...
Did the clear storage, and walah the theme is gone. And opera now works. Thanks guys.
Glad you got it sorted mate, love how HTC make there devices so easy to manage, with some other phones if that had happened, you would be stuck.
Yet with the HTC I can flash ROM's as often as I like to try different ones, etc, almost change them as often as I reinstall my desktop and pc with all the beta testing I do. Nicely done HTC.

Problem Reinstalling Paid App/Game After Wipe

Hi every1,
Yesterday I had to reformat my sdcard and do a wipe on my phone. I'm now in the process of reinstalling apps and such back in. My phone is rooted and set to run apps of sdcard. I'm trying to reinstall a paid game TangramPro.
1st try downloaded but then gave me an error saying not enough space to install. Strange because there is absolutely nothing on my phone.
2nd try it downloads an updated version and now gives me a different error saying that it couldn't delete old application.
Any ideas on how to clear this up?
I tried looking in /system/sd/data/app and app-private but I do not see this app in there. Looked in /data/app and app-private and nothing either.
*edit - restarted the phone and tried again: installation error insufficient storage available

SDcard unmounted or not present

Hi!
Just recently I decided to take a photo, but in the camera app, it said, "Please insert an SDcard before using the camera."
It got me a little worried, so I checked the gallery, sure enough, "SDcard unmounted or not present"
Astro can also see all my files, but I can't move, or paste files because it gives me an error.
So I check my music, for some reason, all of it's there, and all of it plays normally.
I can't download things directly to the phone either because it gives me the error "Not enough space" but I can mount it to my PC and add files to it.
Can anyone help? I don't know what the problem is!
I am running Cyanogenmod 5.0.6, and tried going back to a nandroid restore I made before flashing the OC/UV kernel, but that still didn't work.
did you try removing sd and then putting back what steps have you tried already?
Yes I have tried removing and reinserting the sdcard, I'm going to try flashing a new ROM, or at least reflash CM5.0.6
I think it might also be the phone, as the sdcard will pop out if I pull out the battery, because it won't click anymore like it used to, but if this was really the problem, wouldn't the music not play?
hey there, did you ever find a solution to your problem. I get extremely frustrated when my SD card is not recognized. I have flashed and reflashed and re-reflashed, with two different roms, fresh and DC, it has done it with both, it HAS to be a hardware issue.
tried formatting the SD? Or deleting the folders android creates?
I had the same problem on my Evo a couple of times. I had connected it to my Mac and basically the Mac doesn't recognize it if you turn off USB storage from the phone - you have to eject the phone from the Mac or it gives an error, and apparently corrupts the sd card.
The fix is to connect your phone to a Windows computer, open Explorer, right click on the phone drive, click Properties, go to the Tools tab, run Check Now (make sure that Automatically fix file system errors is selected). This takes a few minutes, but it works - at least it has worked both times I had this problem.
Whenever trying to run gingerbreak api from file explorer....
Keep getting error "there is a problem parsing the package"

[Q] Help!! can not delete/add/format internal storage

Help!! can not delete/add/format internal storage
I recently rooted my bionic with success (using pete's toolkit) I downloaded TBU and probably deleted/freeze things i should not have deleted/freeze (did not read up on bloatware) so now im stuck...
My phone boots up fine, it can install/uninstall apps and run apps BUT only for the duration until I reboot my phone. Everytime I reboot, all apps that were newly installed are gone including updates, while all uninstalled apps would restore. For example I would uninstall wireless tether, it would then disappear until I reboot the phone in which it auto restores.
I initially tried to unroot my phone by using Pete's tool again, I can successfully unroot the phone by pulling out the usb cable b4 it does the last reboot, but the problem is still there. Once I reboot...same apps come back, including my phone being rooted (checked with root apps).
I figured that to solve any problem I should try using RSDLite method to flash back my stock firmware and at the same time unroot my phone. The program would tell me i succeeded in doing so, yet the problem was not gone. SAME APPS, SAME SETTINGS, STILL ROOTED.
Out of frustration I looked into my internal storage figuring , if I could manually install apps here then they won't disappear.
Here comes the problem.
I connected my phone to the PC (using mass storage) opened up my internal storage drive. there was already some stuff (the apps that keep restoring eg.bootstrap). I tried deleting bootstrap.apk, but once I disconnect my phone, the change would not occur (checked through astro file manager) bootstrap.apk would magically appear again. I tried moving things into the internal storage, and when I disconnect, it would magically disappear.
So i thought I would bring things up another level....I formatted both the internal and the external storage.....both on the computer, and when the phone is by itself.
Even after performing facotry reset, wiped out cache and stuff.....the original files would reappear after disconnecting from computer/rebooting.
can some one help pls? I dont know whats going on or was there something I missed.....
Sounds like your SBF was unsuccessful. SBF should restore everything to stock, even if you were to mess up the internal partioning, or deleted some crtical files you should be fine. I would make sure you have everything installed correctly, that you're using the correct SBF etc. Did you also install the USB drivers from moto?
I installed the Moto end user driver 5.20, I tried with both the fxz minimal and the full version. both are "successful" as stated by program, but not so after reboot.
