I have a HTC TyTN II phone.
If I go to Settings > Connections > Bluetooth > Mode and click the Turn on Bluetooth checkbox. If I then go to Devices > Add New devices, I always get an error message - Problem with Bluetooth hardware after about 30 seconds of it looking for a new device.
When I go back in to Settings > Connections > Bluetooth > Mode the checkbox is still turned on.
If I click OK at the top of the screen and then go to Comms manager Bluetooth is turned off. If I click on the Bluetooth icon here it stays greyed out for about 10 secs then has a cross against it and the tick is removed from Settings > Connections > Bluetooth > Mode > Turn on Bluetooth.
I’m running WM6.1
I’ve tied a hard reset but still the same. Can anyone help me get Bluetooth to turn on?
Thanks
Steve
What rom are you using?
Is this a stock 'out of the box' device?
TyTN II (HTC Branded)? or 'Provider' Branded (AT&T Tilt etc.)?
If stock, which one and what ROM, Radio etc. show at your initial boot screen?
If NOT, specifically what ROM Radio and SPL are you on?
Find out, and search the Forum for BT issues with your setup.
If you don't find anything, come back and let us know the above info.
Many different issues, many different setups...let us know what you find.
Okay bye...

Sorry for the lack of info
I've only had this a few days. There are a large number of people with the same devices on the same setup who have no problem using BT.
It is a HTC branded unit
Model number Kaiser
Platform PocketPC
ROM Version 3.28.405.0
Radio Version 1.65.16.25
Protocol Version 25.83.40.02H
Bluetooth version2.0/2.0+EDR
I have previously searched the forum but can't find any query which matches mine.

Might try reflashing the same ROM

That's a ROM and Radio combo I've used on my HTC Branded TyTN II before trying the slightly newer UK release with a newer Radio and then reverting to my current setup in my sig. I had no bluetooth problems with my device so it sounds like if you've already hard reset the device and let that procedure run to completion, then you may have a corrupted flash and a reflash may help. If you go to HTCs website and download the latest ROM for your device and following their instructions carefully, run that update, let us know how that goes. If you have a UK device, the ROM will come with a newer radio than you currently have. After reflashing the ROM, perform a hard reset. What happens if you tap the Comm Manager Bluetooth button first thing after performing that hard reset (dont bother going into settings first)? Do you get a strobing blue light in the earpiece slot next to the HTC logo after a few seconds?
Flying Kiwi
The HTC ROM download shows "Sorry, this software download is not suitable for your device" when I put in my Serial number. I assume this is due to my company having some sort of bar stopping me upgrading myself?
If I turn off the device and then back on again and go straight to comms manager BT is enabled (showing blue icon). If I then click Settings > Add new device it comes up with the error message Problem with Bluetooth hardware. If I then go back to comms manger the BT icon is greyed out and can't be reenabled.
I'll probably have to ring our tech support in India and see if they can help.
Thanks for trying

That generally means you don't have a HTC device but a third party (operator provided) device or perhaps your device is from the wrong country to the website you've gone to. Sometimes these devices are 'branded' by the operator with customised ROMs and stenciling on the device. Sometimes there is little or no customisation. Yes, liase with your provider because as you have a new device, still under warranty, they should be the ones to help you get it sorted (and provide you with their official ROM if they want you to try reflashing - even though it appears the same as the HTC one I used to have and that's accessible through the wiki). Good luck.

Hi
I have been playing with this for a day now, and it has introduced more bugs in the wifi functionality. If you want to use WiFi from your IIs then I would avoid this 'update' like the plauge.
What you get:
- ROM: 1.31.00 WWE (13th Dec 04) so this is 2.5 months old
- Radio 1.06.00 (1.06.02 is latest)
- ExtRom: 1.31.139 WWE (no real updates to existing progs)
Whats Better
---------------
- The camera performs better in low light conditions (I used to get vertical lines on the screen
- Bluetooth stack build 3500. A vast improvement, but the latest is now build 3900 which some say solves the 'scratching noise' that is heard in some headsets
Whats Worse/Not Fixed
---------------------------
- O2 Active V3.5. Its bloody awful - spends its life redrawing the screen, its very sluggish, and adds nothing to the today screen. I never used to use the old version, but having the O2 icon was handy for its ability to list the active connections and terminate them. Much is made of the ability to change the position of the icon (which I never found to be a problem in the first place. Tapping the new icon starts O2 Active rather than listing the active connections. To list active connections, you need to tap and hold for 5 seconds. I find that after tapping and holding, I get the menu, but that the menu then fails to respond to my 'close connection' taps. I reverted back to the old O2 active program.
- WiFi. They have completely buggered it up. It was unreliable at best beforehand. I have a network at home, which I finally pursuaded the device to connect to after multiple resets. I headed into work this morning (2 AP's) switched it on, and it just sat there searching for the network. I went into Tools-->Network cards, and see the work network listed as 'connected' (it was not connected, I had not given it the PSK yet). I soft reset the device, and it finally saw the network and prompted with the usual 'Internet/Work' dialogue. I was then asked for the pass key. At this point I noticed that there is no longer a possibility to activate the soft keyboard in order to enter the pass key (A right pain in the arse when the passkey is just a random multicase/numeric key, and all you get are ** on the dialogue). Anyway, I entered the key, and the device refused to get a valid IP address. Doing IPconfig showed that the wireless card was trying to use an old GPRS IP!!! I tried a renew (3rd party ipconfig tool). I tried stopping and starting wifi. Eventually, I soft reset (still the same), so I stopped wifi, soft reset, started wifi - and *finally* it decided to go and get itsself an IP address. (this is a bug I saw in the old firmware, but its worse than it used to be).
- WiFi still marks the wrong networks as 'available', i.e at work, 10 miles from home, my home network is marked as 'available' and my work network is marked as 'unavailable' !!! (this is an old bug)
- In Network adapters, the dialogue, 'My Work Network Connects To:' is blank, and there is no longer a possibility to select work/internet (options are blank). This is new to v1.31.139 (anyone else also missing this)
- If you select a wifi connection and change it from being a 'work' connection to an 'internet' connection then the change does not stick. This is new to v1.31.139
- In the MMS applet, it is no longer possible to select a 'modem' directly. I used to be able to select 'O2 Active'. You now have to select a profile that includes an appropriate modem. This is new to v1.31.139
- When editing a network profile in 'network management' eg: My ISP. the device still forgets to display existing modem/vpn connections. (same as old version).
Out Of Date Software / missing software
-----------------------------------------------
- Photo Contacts (CallerId cab) is still version 1.17 (latest is 1.20)
- Missing O2 plus - other o2 devices include this
- Missing Intelipad
- Missing Smartdialer
- Old build of Java Midlet software
- Old build of MMS composer software
Other Thoughts
------------------
For my money, the device feels more sluggish than it did before. Though its difficult to prove this!
O2 has spent far too much time on that O2 Active rubbish - does *anyone* actually use this [email protected]?? - and not enough time integrating/testing the latest versions of CE, drivers, and third party apps.
I'll add more to this as I find new bugs, and send it all off to O2 in a couple of weeks.
What I am now using
------------------------
I am now using v1.31.139 + Bluetooth build 3900 + PhotoContacts 1.20 + Java build 1004.
----------------------------
Additions: 1/3/05
- SMS notify no longer seems to work. Anyone else suffer from this? MMS notify works fine and SMS notify is switched on. Perhaps the notify event is missing, but I have no idea how to sort this.
- VPN over wireless lan is still not possible - it tries and fails to connect. VPN over GPRS still works OK.
Additions 02/03/05
- SMS Notify problem is *not* to do with the rom update. I removed the registry key: HKLM\software\microsoft\inbox\svc\outlook since I had no need for the outlook folder in inbox. Removing this also kills off SMS notify!! I backed up, hard reset, preventing the stuff in the extended rom from installing. Installed PHM regedit, exported the outlook key, restored my backup and imported the reg key!!
- Internet/Work settings missing from Wlan setup. After restoring the backup, these had returned. Pretty strange, perhaps they were linked to the same registry key. No additional software bar the contents of the extended rom had been installed. If anyone else gets this, I suggest back, hard reset, restore might fix it.
Regards
Nigel
I have the same version with the latest radio build and cannot got the device to connect to my home Wifi what so ever.
Not exactly much use. It detects the network but refuses to connect. Either it says its connected but does not get an IP or it continously prompts for the network key.
I have also upgraded and am finding that the device often freezes when I try and switch it off, this happens about once or twice a day needing a soft reset.
I dont use the active stuff (which I never use) and am dissapointed that the O2 icon now starts O2 active rather than list the state of connections and allow you to trun them off i.e GPRS.
I agree the device does seem to be slower, I think I will be going back to the original code base and applying the BT patches, anyone know where there is a CAB installer for 3900?
check the ftp server
ftp://ftp.xda-developers.com/BlueAngel/CAB_Files/Bluetooth Upgrades/
username xda
password xda
its the file that ends in 3900.
I installed 3900 over the recent O2 update (3500) and all went fine. Just do a soft reset before playing with bluetooth or it will moan about an expired stack.
Nigel
SMS Notify
Hi
Anyone else found that the SMS notify stops working once the latest O2 update is installed. MMS notify works, but SMS does not - its damned anoying!
UPDATE: Found the reason for this see end of original post
Nigel
Thanks for the comments on the update. I think I will stay with the original 1.12 ROM! Where can you get the other updates for the Camera and Java and Bluetooth etc? I'm currently running Bluetooth 3500.
Cheers
This is why you should sell you XDA IIs on ebay and buy a XDA IIi
Well that IS a concept! Thanks made me grin!
Hi since I installed the new Rom, my clock keep on freezing. The phone goes on standby > then it freeze. If I wake up the phone , it will still be frozen.
I have to click on start > Today in order to refresh it.
Any ideas ? It's still happening with no other today pluggin. :x
Would you recommend we dont bother upgrading the ROM atm then?
I upgraded also - the process was simple and took around 10 mins. This made my Bluetooth much more reliable and over a greater distance. I also find the 2s locks up frequently and requires soft resets.
Does anybody know how to remove the entire o2 software - I dont know anybody that uses it and Im sure it would speed up the whole device.
Remove entire O2 software:
You mean everything in the extended rom or just o2 active?
Hard reset, and when the message pops up about installing blah in 3 seconds (after you have done the touchscreen config) then soft reset. This gets you a plain vanilla HTC Blue Angel before the operator has installed its sh1te on it.
You can then selectively install just the bits you want, download the extended rom from the ftp site here, or unlock yr extended rom, copy out the cabs to main memory/SD etc, and then tap just the ones you want to install them.
If you just want rid of o2 active, then hard reset, and wait until the corporate/personal? message appears and then soft reset. O2 active is the last thing to be installed.
Nigel
mhanbury:
Hunt them down on the FTP site. Compare the version/build numbers with those in the new O2 extended rom.

Hard-reset your xda.
When the Personal/Corporate screen comes up, select corporate and enter 0506 - zero five zero six
This won't install active.
I'm getting a new XDAIIs (my 3rd one) , I will stay away from the new update and just put the bluetooth/ radio and contact manager manually.
That new update is just a piece of [email protected]

If you buy a new XDAIIs in the UK now you will get it with :
ROM Version: 1.31.00 WWE
ROM date: 12/13/04
Radio Version: 1.06.00
Protocol Version: 1337.38
ExtROM Version: 1.31.139 WWE
Ive had mine for 2 days now and ive had to soft reset about 6 times! and Hard reset once!
and this is annoying the hell out of me! can anyone tell me what im doing wrong. Why is it that whenever I do a hard reset I have to change the name of my activesync folder? If I try to keep them the same, it says I cant because there is already a device with that name!?!? Or am I just being a noob?

This is really wierd. My IIs works fine - doesn't lock up, doesn't need hard resets or anything so drastic. I don't have any other apps on the device though, just the standard one's O2 supplies (GPRS Monitor etc).
What other apps are people running? I'm guessing Today screen plugins are causing grief (Pocket+ etc)
yeah I did tried my phone with no today plug in but it is still crap, was working just fine with the previous rom......... what have I done :x
At least it keeps me busy....
The problem is you should have bought a XDA IIi not a XDA IIs.

This does not show up on the updates for my TyTynII (downloads are serial number specific) only in the generic downloads.
I think its best if you only apply this IF you suffer with any Bluetooth problem.
The old adage, 'If it ain't broke, don't fix it!'
Re: does this work on AT&T Tilt?
In the HTC 1.56 ROM, this file is a replacement for \Windows\TIInit_4_2_38.bts a.k.a. (OEM\OEMDrivers\TIInit_4_2_38.bts for chefs). There is nothing else in that cab (see upgrading forums thread for better description)
Edit: I was wondering if I kept quiet, how many people would have experienced a placebo effect and said that it works great and makes bluetooth 10x better on AT&T...
Summary
If you happen to be an AT&T Tilt user that has flashed to an HTC ROM, this fix will work for you. If you're running an AT&T ROM, or you have no idea what a ROM is, but you know your phone says AT&T on it, it does nothing.
Does this fix the issue were bluetooth is dropped after finishing a call ?
Thanks for letting us ATT users know that it doesn't do anything. Guess we don't have this issue But on a serious note does this actually fix anything besides a supposed call dropping? I don't have that issue but of course we all have tons of issues with BT quality.
I have install the update listed above on a Tilt running the RUU_Kaiser_HTC_WWE_1.56.405.5_radio_sign_22.45.88.07_1.27.12.11_Ship Rom and the Bluetooth quality has jumped 100%. My Bluetooth stereo headphones sound great.
Thanks for starting this thread.
Awesome, thanks! I was going to ask if anyone had drop call problems as it happened to me twice last night and I happened to have my BT headset on

I have a lot of crackling background on my BT headset. Did not have that on the 8525. Also, there seems to be less functionality supported in the Tilt implementations, regarding the BT, vs the 8525 (I was running a cooked ROM though on my 8525). What i mean by that, is that I was able to use the BT buton to activate the voice dial using the MS VM. In addition, hitting the BT button twice was getting me a redial. Not anymore. I wonder is this has to do with the AT&T ROM or not? Is this a genuine HTC issue?

Before I switched to Dutty's ROMs, I was running the stock Tilt Rom for a few days, and then the newer Tilt ROM for a week. Both of those AT&T Tilt Stock roms gave me no issues like you mentioned. I heavily use my BT headset (Jawbone), and use Microsoft Voice Command (I very seldom use the dialer as its easier to just speak and have the phone dial for me). Pressing once on my headset would always bring up MS VC so I could issue it commands, and pressing twice on my headset always did a redial.
Now that I'm on Dutty's 7b, I have the same behaviors there too. Not sure what to tell you (other than some BT headsets don't work well with WM6, but if you were using the same headset on your 8525 then thats probably not the case).
As always... YMMV

I checked the AT&T's 1.60.502.3 rom and it does exist. I didn't check the stock AT&T rom so I don't know if it wasn't there. I did a file comparison with ExamDiff between HTC's fix (22,490 bytes), AT&T's 1.60.502.3 version (22,490 bytes) and HTC's 1.56.405.5 version (23,899 bytes). It appears AT&T's newest rom already has the fix so anyone using the following roms should not have to apply the fix:
AT&T stock 1.60.502.3
Kyphur's XDA Live
Dutty's AT&T Variants
Custel's Series
_Alex_'s 1.60
any of DK's roms (shameless plug)
Is rapidshare the only place to get this? I am behind a firewall.

Give this a read. I have MS VC 1.6 working just fine on my Jabra BT250 after following the instructions.
you can ignore the first part about removeing the cybertron dialer or whatever.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=998205&postcount=9
I'll try it. Thx for the tip. I am not sure if this only works for 8525/TyTn (I do have the TyTn II/Kaiser)
Edit:
Tried. Sorry, did not work. Oh well. will see, but for now I wil stick with the AT&T ROM.
Hi,
there is something weird about that fix:
when the cab is on the kaiser, you tap on the file to install it.
you believe it's installed but in program files , you may find
a "kai6492_hotfix" shortcut, you tap on it and the choices are install or exit
it's seems there an identity check to be sure it's on a kaiser
"module id is kais(required kais)"
then if "equal" "ok" then install
and soft reset needed
why two install required ?
the kai6492_hotfix is still in program files after that
and last VC1.6 was working on my bt headset(but the voice recognition succeded about only 10%,i think because of audio quality when i am speaking) but i could ear vc1.6 replies ou questions)
now it is not working anymore.
when i click on the button(headset) before it was launching voice command as the harware button (assigned to it) could do it
now the same button launches the phone dialer(as i was tapping on "call"(green phone)).
ps; since that hotfix, i haven't been able, any more, to install btIO-0.6-wm5 cab
Deleted cause not worth it....
Ok, so here's the deal:
I have this nice HTC Himalaya (accu description label says PH10B).
I use it a lot, and I've used it in the past for calling and sms as well, no problems there. However, since I upgraded it to wm6 (or 6.1, doesn't matter), I get no network. Booting up it says nothing about no gsm, it tells me nicely what radio and protocol version I have, it just doesn't get any network. It does read the SIM, since I can read contacts and/or change/toggle the SIM password.
When I enable the Band tab on the Phone settings dialog (I use Schaps Advanced Config for this) it just says that it's 'Unable to change GSM/UMTS Band', and that I should try again later. This partially makes sense, 'cause I have no UMTS. However: when I 'visit' the Band-tab again, the GSM Band shows up empty (none of the available options is selected by default), so something sure seems to go wrong here. I'm currently using a different phone next to this device as my PDA, but I'd love it to work again...
Any thoughts?
Edit: Just so you know, I've used all radio ROMs I could find, just to eliminate that. I currently use a radio rom bundled with my own carriers latest official upgrade (I own a Dutch phone, my carrier ATM is KPN/Hi), but I'll be glad to try anything else if that'll make it work.
maybe stating what radio rom you have would help

Ofcourse, at the moment 1.16, but I'm flashing to 1.08 again, 'cause I read somewhere that one worked best with WM6. I'm flashing without my SIM in it, as that is the way to go as well. I don't expect it to work though, 'cause like I edited in my first post, it wouldn't work before, not from 1.08 through to 1.19...
Update: that radio ROM didn't bring any change indeed, so I guess no more network for my Himalaya... Luckily enough my Touch Dual is shipping this Saturday, so I'll be out of trouble by then. Sadly enough that does mean leaving my Hima behind, but not fulltime it's been with me from WM2003 through to 6.1, and maybe, just really maybe 7 will run on it too, and I wouldn't want to miss that
Not sure how this has come about but I used to be able to connect to internet really easily through my work laptop when the TyTn II was connected by either Bluetooth or USB. Now I don't seem to be able to connect to either????
When connecting through USB I seem to be able to connect to the PC via 'Internet Sharing' which also lights up the 'Data Connection' icon but when I try to use IE it just says 'Cannot connect using current settings'. Thing is, I haven't changed anything and it used to work fine. Getting a bit fed up with the whole TyTn II at moment as I seem to spend more time fathoming why it's not doing what I want than doing it. Beginning to think a seperate phone/PDA may be best way ahead.
Unsure of whether the problem is related to the official 6.1 upgrade or the install of NoData (as I got fed up with accidentally hitting the weather and Quick GPS refresh and having the phone eat money).
Regardless of what I try I can't seem to get it to connect to internet albeit phone shows as connected via both Bluetooth or USB.
Short of solving this (and I'm not sure where to start) I'm temted to do a reflash and leave out things like No Data etc etc and just see if it works again. Bit of a nuisance really.
Tried searching all manner of related topics but no joy so far
It is a problem with the WM 6.1 official HTC update
I had exactly the same problem in reverse with my TyTN II when it was running the WM 6.1 (the same official HTC ROM that you have). By 'in reverse' I mean I couldn't initially do internet related things on the TyTN II using my home internet (either via USB or Bluetooth connection). It was fine before but after the upgrade thats when the problem occurred. I didn't have any additional software installed apart from Tomtom Navigator 6.032 (HTC Version) so I don't think your NoData install will be to blame (at least not solely). I did manage to get pocket IE working under these circumstances though after I had a fiddle around in the connections tab under settings - or was it Activesyncs settings.... I could never get the automatic Quick GPS updates to occur though, even under those settings and I still had to manually update (although it did use the home internet connection when I did this).
I remember that I changed a drop down selection from something along the lines of this device is connected to 'Auto' to make it 'The Internet'. Sorry for being so vague but I've now reverted to the original WM 6.0 ROM (more precisely I had HTC do it for free under the warranty) and none of the options I'm looking at now ring any bells. Perhaps someone else recalls more clearly what settings change is required.
I think the most important part of your post is:

Thats how I felt about the HTC upgrade that wasn't. I was quick to go down the upgrade path but since it's been back with WM 6.0 other than a few uncommanded resets in the first day or two which haven't since reoccured, the device is now rock solid again. Of course it'd be nice to think the latest HTC upgrade didn't introduce more problems than were already present but in my experience their current update is more trouble than it's worth (and you haven't even mentioned GPS). If you decide you want it reverted under warranty, I found the HTC Repair Centre (at least here in the UK) to do a fine job of it. I dropped off my phone in the morning, after booking it in over ther phone the day before and it was ready at the end of the same day.

Or you can always download the original shipped roms here off the wiki and flash it yourself. It only takes about 10 minutes. You dont have to download a special SPL for an OEM rom

The spl is an issue - reverting it

I was tempted to do that myself (and even asked HTC for the downgrade file to do so) but there are a couple of issues for those of us that like to keep things 'HTC Official'. A big one for me is that since HTC was responsible for creating the buggy WM 6.1 ROM, they should also accept responsibility for fixing it (fat chance of that, I agree with what -888- wrote in the WM 6.0 vs. WM 6.1 thread here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=432482&page=4 along the lines of the best developers being assigned to the latest and greatest products). If they're not going to fix it, then they should at least revert the device to a reliable state. I was in a fortunate position to be in the area of the HTC Repair Centre but if it means sending the phone away, I understand why some might prefer the DIY option.

There's alot to digest about ROM (and Radio and spl) flashing in the wiki and that takes much more than 10 mins. Although a special spl such as hardSPL isn't used with the HTC official setups, the spl does need to be reverted from the 3.28 version with the official WM 6.1 WWE, back to a 1.xx version with WM 6.0 for proper functioning. That isn't just a simple case of running the RUU program like the upgrade to WM 6.1 was - it has to be manually reverted (presumably using something like jumpSPL and the procedure in the wiki for restoring a device for warranty purposes) so it gets more complicated. I was expecting spl version something along the lines of 1.56 on my WM 6.0 setup (to match the ROM numbers) but they installed 1.93, presumably because it was more reliable or offered other performance benifits. Perhaps the ideal spl is in the package already but again this cant just be run like the WM 6.1 upgrade was so there's some jiggery pokery involved
I tend to agree. Not sure why I really bothered with 6.1. One of the first things I did was use Kaiser Tweaks to turn threaded SMS off.
I didn't realise that reverting to WM 6.0 would require more than reflashing so that makes it a little more problematic. I'm not near a HTC Centre. The whole device certainly seems more buggy under 6.1 than it did before and this internet through laptop problem is a nuisance. Being fairly unimpressed with Co-Pilot I don't use GPS that much and, withe the aside that i think I've used the keyboard twice since I had it (another 'essential' I'd put on my list for phone/PDA attributes), I'm beginning to wonder if return to factor state and sell it might not be the better option, reverting to a Nokia E51 and Ipaq 214 Enterprise combination
Post is an option.

Of course it's up to you but don't forget that even though you may not be near a HTC Repair Centre, you could still call them up on the phone to make the booking and post the device to them once you've arranged to have it reverted. They should do it for free but confirm this so you don't get any unpleasant surprises.
Hi everyone
my first post, I have a problem with my Diamond on Orange.
My data connection seems to lock out if I have been in an area of low coverage this results in not being able to connect to my Gmail account using the email function of the phone.
I have downloaded and installed the wm 6.1 patch for fixing corrupt email account. The workaround now though is when it still locks me out of using my data connection I have to reboot the phone.
I have also installed the official new rom from the Orange site, can't access the HTC site ROMs as my device serial code is linked to Orange
It's very frustrating having to reboot your phone 6 times a day (my office is in a low coverage area)
also since last week the phone makes no sound for SMS, MMS, calendar reminders etc. I have checked the sounds associated with these events and they play ok when you click to test them but not when an SMS etc arrives
please help, I'm locked in to this phone till next Aug
Thanks in advance
Steve
Try this...
Rather than rebooting your device, have you tried going to the settings tab on TF3D, selecting communications and tap the 'Data Connection' setting? I'm not sure about the stock Orange ROM, it may not have the option to switch the data connection on and off. If it hasn't, try turning Airplane mode on then off again. Your connection should then be re-established.
As for your sound issue... make sure you have the check box selected for 'Events'. Go to Settings / Personal / Sounds & Notifications and check the top most box
Thanks for the info Graham.
I can confirm that the box 'Events (warnings, system events)' is checked but still no sounds on sms, calendar event etc
not sure where I find the settings tab on TF3D but can try the airplane mode tomorrow at work were I have the low coverage issue.
Thanks for taking the time to give the advice.
Is there a new rom out there I could install as a permanent fix for the data issue?
Thanks
Steve
Mmmm...
Not sure whether a ROM change will cure your problems. It may just be related to your carrier (Orange). I've tried numerous ROM's and radios, but never had an issue with the data. You could try flashing a different radio. Do you know what version your device is running now?
If you look here, you'll find all the various radios available. I'd definitely start with a radio change before flashing ROM's if you're happy with your Orange ROM that is
Hi
The Radio is 1.00.25.05, (ROM is 1.93.405.1 WWE)
are these any good ones or should I update to a new Radio
Thanks again
Steve
Mmmm...
That's what I thought... both the ROM and Radio version are very old (by XDA standards!). I would certainly upgrade your radio, if not the ROM as well. Make sure you upgrade the HardSPL first though or you'll end up with a nice paper weight!
Follow this tutorial to the letter and you'll be fine. That's all I did. Most of the custom ROM's here don't include a Radio, so you'll need to upgrade that seperately. It's all in the guide. If you've already upgraded the SPL, you can go ahead and flash a ROM / Radio.
The ROM I'm using is Gen.Y D2 R4.2 which you'll find in the ROM section along with a host of others. In my opinion, it's the best by far
Thanks Graham will read all the info and give it a go
Steve
Hi
Managed to get radio 1.13.25.24 on but can't find a live link for ROM Y D2 R4.2
any chance you could post one for me
Many thanks for all the help up to now, I'm realy looking forward to my Diamond working like it should
Thanks
Steve
Link...
Hi. The download links are halfway down Post #2 of the ROM thread... CLICK HERE
Hi
Thanks for all your help. I am now running on radio 1.13.25.24 and ROM Y D2 R4.2
Early days but there is defiantly some improvement in data connection/reception but I am still getting the issue where the data connection corrupts and won't connect even when full network coverage is restored.
Thanks for the workaround suggestion re turning airplane mode on then off this does work and negates having to re-boot.
Is there any way I can overcome the basic issue re the data connection corrupting in low coverage areas?
Is a radio available that will up the coverage even more, battery life is not important to me?
Thanks again
Steve
Tip...
Another way, which may be quicker. On the settings tab in TF3D, tap connections and you should have a 'Data Connection' option. If you switch this off to disconnect your GSM data connection, the next time your device needs to connect it will re-establish the connection. This doesn't help with your issue, but it is quicker than turning Airplane mode on and off.
It might be worth posting in the Radio thread to see if anyone has experienced this on Orange and found a workaround. Like I said, I've not experienced data issues like this, so I can't really help. You've changed your ROM and your Radio, so it seems it's not ROM or Radio specific... it does seem to point to carrier??
Hi Graham
I’ve spent some time getting used to the new ROM, it seems to be a big improvement over the standard Orange one and I do occasionally get a data connection in my office which is unusual. I think what I really need is some sort of signal booster stuck to the window.
One thing I notice with the new ROM is a lack of a calculator; can I add this on in some way?
Thanks
Steve
