Has the zoom bar on the right side of the screen? I had it once before, and hate the fact that I have touch the magnifying glass at the bottom in order to zoom.
Why don't you use D-PAD to zoom?
I know 9.5 b16277 does; here:

Sorry, just re-read your post - my bad. I haven't seen that feature on any of the Opera builds I've used to date. The ZoomSlider configurations are kept in three places: standard_skin.zip, Opera .INI(s), registry.
In some builds, all three are required, others ... variations of the above. Guess the folks at Opera haven't made a firm commitment yet.
If you can point me to a version that has ZoomSlider on the right, I can have a look to see if it can be ported up to a newer build.

Hi folks, just been reading the posts regarding opera, I seem to remember having that option on a Cooked Rom called PDACorner Ultimate. I think it was his version 2 of this Rom,but that was when I had my Kaiser (R.I.P) so I cant be sure which build it was. Im sure if you contact the chef (abusalza), he can give you more info.
Device O2Serra
Rom 1.90.206.4.WWE (Stock) (Will upload with some help!!)
Radio 1.02.25.19
Found it...it's actually build 15233.
Has the invisible zoom slider on the right, d-pad zoom disabled, and scrolling set at 2 times sensitivity...I like!!!!
Post a link to where you found it; I'll have a look at what is different to determine if a port is possible.
Cheers,
15529
I believe you want 15529. You zoom by sliding up or down on the right side of the screen. Also this one has scroll acceleration which I like. Good build. No dpad wheel zooming though. No g sensor rotation either I think. Doug
Yes, that's what I said...however, it insists on starting up automatically after a soft reset, and I found out the hard way that leaving it running in the background and then turning the phone turned off will lead to a 2% battery level first thing in the morning...

Would it be possible for you gents to post the exact link to the versions you are using (and that have the features you're after)?
I'll pull'em down and have a look to see if the functionality can be ported to 9.5 b16277.

I am looking for something simple but I am unable to find it.
I have upgraded to WM6 and I want PIE to scroll by line.
That's it.
PIEPLUS 2.2 used to work on WM5 but scrolling behavior is broken on WM6 - now it always scrolls by link ("Like IE").
MULTIIE 4.0 doesn't do it either.
I have tried Picsel and Opera but they have their own shortcomings.
The human brain isn't designed for page scrolling - we need nice smooth incremental scrolling. At least my brain isn't.
Help someone?
Search forum for thread about customizing PIE "KEYS". Relatively simple registry edits or there are tools that will set them up for you.

Thanks for the reply, unfortunately these keys just provide for link and page scrolling. Line scrolling with the D-pad means that when you have a screen of text it will always scroll a predictable number of lines, regardless of links on the page.
OK, solved my own problem.
Smooth scrolling (including with finger like iPhone), full page view with zoom in (like Deepfish), full javascript support (unlike Deepfish), nice reformat for one column (unlike PIE).
Full screen too (press the * key).
Which browser? Opera Mini 4 (again) but with a different Java VM this time (allows softkey support, full screen and copy/paste) and now I have exactly the browsing experience I was looking for. Even on a Treo 240x240 screen.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1483665&postcount=24
Best of all ... it's free.
yep, very nice browser. Been using v4 since it was released. Esmertec Java works the best for me (looks like that's what you went with too).
TIP: Exclude the java executable from your touch software since it already supports finger scrolling. Allows it to work a little more smoothly IMO.
Yes, Esmertec Java made all the difference. The previous JVM I was using was slow, didn't use the top and bottom of the screen since the WM6 menu bars were always on and cut and paste didn't work.
I have got a direct link shortcut set up, it launches as the default browser for email links and it no longer security prompts for net access. I'm happy.
I have tried all the alternatives (Picsel, PIEplus, Thunderhawk etc) and I have finally found the one that works for me. Anyone still using PIE should give this free browser a try (with Esmertec), it's really nice.
How can I get rid of the security warning and make Opera mini my default browser?
And how do I exclude the touch stuff?
Thanks
this thread has the instructions I used for setting default, disabling security warnings and one click launch ...

The first one I got did not have it. I just came upon two more Diamond ROMs though, but I'll have to say that to extract & fix a program like tomtom would take time I do not have. Remember, this is a VGA device we're talking about, & to rebuild a tomtom cab would entail not only a lot of library changes, but a registry rebuild too. When I have time I'll see if it's in either of the two new ones I've found, but don't hold you breath.
I will not work for me on my AT&T WM6 Kaiser. Is there any way to get it to work, beacause I'm really curious about this browser? Thanks

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=393701&highlight=opera works fine on my Tilt... maybe try the WM5 version if you have trouble.

Holly crap guys, Sorry I didn't test this first!! Really sorry!!!
Man this version is sloppy & has some skin/color issues due to the ini settings.
I'll clean it up today & posted a much better version. :Ashamed
Well, the version from PPCGeeks works for me. A lot of promise -- much better than the previous build I used (the one from Laurentis prior ROMs). Still slow, memory and CPU hungry, and has really big problems with input (especially fields). Going back to Opera mini 4.1. The best so far despite all the shortcomings of being a java app on a WM device.
anyone else having issues witht hey Diamond kayboard not working with 9.5?
it simply wont type onto any of the browser fields ie. seach boxes or loggon boxes.
any ideas?
I know in my previous version I could get flash to work, but in this version I cannot get any flash to work. Opera does not even recognize that I have flash.

Installed your QVGA Version on the Kaiser but the settings page is TINY, is it a problem with my ROM maybe ?
Has anyone figured out how to use the Tytn II's jog dial to zoom dynamically in Opera Mobile 9.5 like on the Diamond? Double tapping the screen is nice, but with a 2.8in screen and QVGA, zooming into 100% really leaves us with a small viewing area. I would like to easily zoom in/zoom out to what ever level I want like Diamond users can using their touch scroll wheel/jog dial, or like iPhone users can using multi-touch pinching on their capacitative screens.
What I know so far:
-input.ini (located in \Application Data\Opera 9.5) has options to change the hardware key configurations, but I haven't had much success in playing around with it, except for getting the font to zoom using the wheel.
-navigating to opera:config in Opera's address bar gives a ton of options, including some that control zoom behavior. But I haven't seen anything that let you assign keys to zooming.
-opera.ini (located in \Application Data\Opera 9.5) has some zoom control options.
that would be really awesome someones gotta build a tweak for this!! for skyfire as well because watching like a youtube video is difficult cus default zoom zooms in too much so its hard to get a full screen ...
As far as I know our wheel is directly "connected" to the "joystick" (the 4 directions pad under the screen). So even if somebody find a solution, it will disable the scroll possibility.
But your right, even with that, it could be a great feature.
There is also the possibility to use the latest build from Opera 9.5 (1957) taken from an Omnia, here.
If you scroll up / down on the right of your screen, you can now zoom in/out .

The new zoom feature in opera is brilliant.
here's a little image
Nice find! But it looks buggy, and the sizing seems optimized for the Omnia (given that there is overlap between the zoom bar and Opera menu button).
Two bits of info though.
1. In HTC Album, the jog dial (at least on the Touch Cruise) functions independently of the D-pad directions. Jog dial zooms, whereas D-Pad pans. So the functions can be separated.
2. In the Diamond, the jog wheel doesn't function as a jog wheel by default. It actually does absolutely nothing in most of the interface. If you want it to function, it has to be hacked to do so by specifying the programs in which you want it to function in the registry (HKLM/Software/HTC/SmartTouch/)
It's funny to see this thread as i was thinking the same thing a few months ago when i first got opera 9.

Yes, if you use the official 9.5 beta available on the website (and I'd guess any other build) you can just double tap the screen to zoom in or out. Otherwise, you can go through the menu system to zoom in/out in increments.

This may or may not help as I have a Touch Cruise (Polaris), but I'm using an official WM6 ROM, and the official 9.5 Beta available on the Opera website.
There are so many Opera versions out there...
The one I have been using 15316. Before that I was using some other version, I can't remember which.
Anyway, I am tired of this flipping the screen upside down everytime I exit it (in landscape).
Which is the best version to use on a Tilt?

Where can I get it? What is the build number?
Just a tip, build 15233 ripped from the Omnia worked very well in the short time I used it. There was no screen flipping problem, and it was very stable. It also supported zooming by sliding your finger on the side of the screen. I think the real reason I stopped using it was there was some kind of text reflow issue when you zoomed it though. It has no widgets, although it installs a shortcut to the non-existent widgets, so you need to delete it.
However, I currently use NFSFan's build 15316, which I like due to its 10 tab support and speed. However, as a trade off, it suffers from the screen flipping problem if you minimize it or touch the taskbar while using it. And I definitely agree with TelloMan about the widgets, they just waste space and annoy me. Try to keep looking around XDA, especially in Development and Hacking (where I found many opera builds).
Dave
Yeah, NSFan's 15316 is the one I'm using now. The screen flipping is driving me crazy.
It's hard to believe there isn't one decent browser for Windows Mobile. Anyone know what's going on with that Firefox Mobile?
you're referring to "Minimo" by Mozilla. I haven't seen or heard much lately from them. There's some opera builds are fairly close to perfection depending on what irritates you the least amount. Too bad none of them has flash working perfectly yet. If I had to choose 2 browsers for WM, it would be netfront and opera mobile
well... call me heretic, but imho for casual browsing and forums the best one is opera mini and if I need to use my bank's web page or anything more complicated iexplorer is reliable enough. additionally, I have skyfire installed on my memcard just to make sure that I can browse whatever I want.
the answer? opera mini and skyfire in my opinion. I am tired of o.mobile bugs and new builds every few days/weeks.
Actually, I think he is referring to Fennec, not minimo. Minimo was horrible and requires very high specs, while Fennec, which is still in alpha/early beta, is very unstable yet very promising. It will be quite a while before it will be really usable. I would just stick to opera mobile for now. Skyfire works well, but isn't 100% stable. Opera mini is fast, but not full featured.
As I said, Fennec is very promising, but it is extremely unstable and VGA only for now.

It isn't very fast, but compared to IE and the first Minimo, this actually WORKS. I can switch from mobile versions to desktop versions, zoom and scroll, and it uses my IE favorites.

Thanks XDA good guys!
I see the need for this thread to be created as i recently flashed MaryOne 0.03, and to my shock and horror, not only there was no kinetic scrolling in file explorer also in start menu and even in in Manila tabs.
Some people apparently have reported similar problem in Laurentius V3 Thread, which leads me to a reasonable conclusion of starting this thread
I noticed this in MaryOne, Xannytech and Laurentius V3. I even created a youtube video while i had Laurentuis V3 as proof of my problem, below is the video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p-CglGWxZRw
Short information:
1. My device is unbranded when originally bought.
2. I use USPL 2.5
3. First ever flash from stock ROM was Dutty 3.9XT.
4. PC OS is Windows Vista 32 upgraded sync drivers as per Digital outcast instructions for USPL 2.5
When i flashed Laurentius V3 (i really persevered as this was very much anticipated after spending a good few days being beta tested) I flashed to stock ROM first 2 HR, then flashed Laurentius V3, HR 2x no help, redownloaded ROM, reflashed HR 2x still the problem persisted. in the end i flashed Miri V29 and no problem encountered, kinetic scrolling was everywhere, like all other Miri ROMs I've flashed.
Then came Miri Rev11, no problem, then came MaryOne 0.03, I thought i might try the 23xxx windows version as i have tried them before with Phamquang ROMs, and I really liked the smooth round buttons at the bottom, but then man 2.5 was in its infancy and was too buggy for daily use, again the problem was back. So now i am in Dutty R7, which is to me the penacle of Man 2.5 evolution.
I am not very clever at registry editing and I have no knowledge with programming (c++ etc) but with the creation of this thread, the aim is to shed more light on this problem.
I also know there is resco explorer which is a good alternative. but this is like choosing the easy way without solving the problem itself face on.
Thanks to anyone who may contribute to to this thread. A good history of flashing, flashing method, and if the blackstone was branded or unbranded or any information which may shed some light would be helpful.
the aims are:
1. To gather as much people as possible who has encountered this problem.
2. Hoping to attract the attention of people with extensive knowledge of Windows Mobile and eventually come to a reasonable outcome.
This happens because of a package called 'TouchFLO'. It is needed for the buttons to work, but also it activates HTC's finger scroll designed for WM6.1. Unfortunately there is no way to completely disable the scrolling feature, and it overrides WM6.5 kinetic scrolling. However, TFLO scrolling can be disabled for individual apps via a regkey:
[HKLM\Sofware\OEM\TFLOSetting\TFLOIgnoreAPPs]
eg: "fexplorer"="fexplorer.exe"
kinetic scrolling will then work in those apps. When cooking a rom, commonly used apps, like fexplorer.exe should be added to exclusions.
The only way to completely disable TFLO scrolling is to modify biotouch.dll.

Are you talking about no scroll at all or speed sensitive to touch kinetic scroll.
The newer latest builds the scrolling is not as good and seems more restrictive than on previous versions.
