The first thing iGO 8 does when you run it is show the loading screen. Is your "[folders] app=" line pointed to the right directory of where iGO is installed on your phone? Where is: Opslagkaart?
I have it installed on my SD card and my setting is:
[folders]
app="%SDCARD%/iGO8"
All I have in my sys.txt is [folders], [interface] and [timezone], running version 8.0.0.49545. Everything works great for me.
thanks for your request!
opslagkaart is the same as SDCARD, its a Dutch word.
So my folder must be:
[folders]
app="Opslagkaart/iGO8"
I changed de sys.txt file as you said but it doesn't work eighter.
So any other possibility's ?
app="Internal Storage/iGO8"
[interface]
maxzoom2d=6000000
show_exit=1
skin="ui_igo8"
resolution_dir="240_320"
vga=1
[device]
sdcard_dsk_num=7
[rawdisplay]
class="portrait"
[map]
2dheadup=1

[timezone]
sync_os_timezone=0
reset_os_timezone=0

queue_length=200

show_speed_limit=1

Here is a working sys text for my touch diamond,
I think you need to use the 240x320 directory 640x480 is not supported.
Also the high res is for touch hd.
You can try this sys text but change the storage card as per your device sd card ( first line) and leave the rest as is.
add vga=1 to [interface]
or
open up yor data file and see if it has a folder with that resolution. If not, update your data file.
Oke, again thanks for your answers, but stil doesn't work!
I copied the sys.txt file from Londontownguy to my system file and it seems to work............... seems!
when i start the igo8.exe i got the startsceen, then the system go back to the igo8 directory and nothing, the system stand still.
When i start the .exe file again i got the message:
previous instance of iGO8 has not finished exiting yet.
please try again in a few seconds or soft-reset your device.
something in the sys.txt file is still wrong?
This is baffling maybe something is missing in your files, maybe try
app="%Opslagkaart%/iGO8" ie with the percentage marks as previous poster quoted
I tried the marks % in the folder app=/%Opslagkaart%/IGO8, but guess not working............
what seems to be simple...............
i realy dont know anymore.

I was just reading through cause I'm hoping to give this app a try.
Not to nitpick if it's just a typo but I believe he recommended using:
app=%Opslagkaart%/IGO8
and NOT app=/%Opslagkaart%/IGO8
Single character can mess it up, you know.

app="%Opslagkaart%/iGO8" try also with the " " added, unless there is another difference with the raphael and diamond I thought it was only the sd card. It took me ages to get compile the right sys text I kept getting the same errors. My sys text works on latest 8.3 and also 8.0. Maybe there are some other files missing.
Wait
Wait wait !
In french, we have a sentence : "Ne pas mettre la charrue avant les boeufs"
Your error message only tell us that igo don't find a file.
First thing : how do you installed igo ?
I could see two things in your case :
- maybe there is another ini file in the main memory, program files folder, of your device and the one on storage card is not used
- maybe the link on the start menu that you use try to go to another folder than storagecard\igo8
Try to run igo directly from the folder on your storage card by launching the app from file explorer.
Kinds regards
Your data.zip (or your skin file) has not the apropriate files for touch pro resolution.
Try a diferent data.zip that works with your iGO8 version.
If you accidentaly choose a skin that does not work with touch pro when you last run iGO8, and after restart does not start anymore, just go to \Storage Card(..whatever)\iGO8\Contents\Skin\ and delete it. It will start with the default skin.
Good luck.
Edit. My sys.txt has nothing related to 640x480 or 480x640.

i tried your sugestions, but the directory content was already empty!
In copied your sys.txt to mine and started the aplication and get the following message:
Program application database cannot be found. Please insert original application SD card.
The sys.txt file begins with:
[folders]
app=%Opslagkaart(stand for SDCARD)%/iGO8, is this the sentence where it goes wrong?

Folder Content should not be empty. It has to contain the following folders,
Building -> (files to see buildings on the map, can be empty though)
Dem -> (file to see mountains etc, can be empty though)
Lang -> (Language files)
Map -> (Map files)
Poi -> (Poi files)
Scheme -> (Color Shemes)
Speedcam -> (Speedcam database)
Voice -> (Voise files)
Skin (optional)

Maybe that 's the main problem. If you open a file explorer what is the path to iGO8 folder? Try to write this path at app=
This works fine for me too

freco,
I tried again your suggestions, and i thought i was a step closer? but ........
The folder content has the folders you named, so....
the path to igo8 folder i looked for and i make a change for that.
And i must say he starts when i dubbel click the igo8.exe, but then he return to the folder where igo8. exe is and nothing happen further.
need i say more..............
Did you run iGO8 setup? Returning back to explorer means does not start.
i cant get igo8 to work on my Fuze either! its driving me insane. it looks like it is about to open up fine and then it just shuts off. i have tried everything u guys have suggested here, please let me know if you find a solution.
thank you =/

iGo 2006 is now finally working on HTC Touch Diamond.
Just follow the instruction on the rar file.

How is that? I`m running iGo 2006 on my HTC Diamond right now...
It worked very well for me. Replace any application.dat or igo.exe with the one on the rar file. It should work.
Some screenshots here?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2688183&postcount=28
To install the iGo app, I used the `iGo My Way 2006 Plus` using the so called "smooth installation procedure" on which the folders iGo and 2577 are copied to Internal Storage root.

can you make one for miomap ?
i like miomap more
it's working on my Diamond
MioMap
Any news on MioMap? I got used to it and it's really annoying not to be able to use it at all on my Touch PRO. It stops immedately after trying to start it. I presume this happens because of the 640 x 480 resolution.
OK. I'm tested on my Touch Pro and works great !
TNX man!!!
thx a lot dude!
It works. What else I had to do is delete old iGO.exe and rename application.dat from .rar to iGO.exe.
Thanks.
Still not working
Tried the same trick on Mio 3.2 and 3.3 and it's not working at all. Renamed application.dat to mio.exe. Seems to be starting - then nothing.

Check the below thread:

try another version of iGO.
try this one.
i have mine set up the same, sd card/igo8.
This is a what i have in my sys.txt
[folders]
app="%SDCARD%/iGO8"

[debug]
skip_eula=1
smart_2d=1
enable_roadshadow=1
[device]
sdcard_dsk_num=7
You could also rename the file application.dat in the iGo8 folder on you storage card to igo8.exe - then create a shortcut with resco file explorer and add the shortcut to your start menu. You can now delete the igo8.exe that is on the phone memory. I did this on my TyTn to save memory and did the same on my Touch Pro and it works 100%
What could be happning is that IGO8 is mapping your contact list. Depending on how long the contact list is, it takes a long time to complete. After they get mapped, it really runs normally.
now kindda working

hey guys thanks for ur help with my igo8 install... igo8 now works and i also know what i did wrong.. all this time i created a folder on my micro sdcard called iGO8 then within that folder i installed another iGO8 folder.. thats why it didnt install.. after i got rid of the 1st igo8 folder the the program just installed..
now the igo8 works but i still have a little problem....i have major lag.. anyhelp would be nice guys.. thanks..
FYI ... iGo8 will run without installing the app. The autorun will add the correct registry entries for ROUTE TO within the contact application. It also adds the shortcuts to the windows start menu. But it will run directly from the SD card if you just make a shortcut.
However, what it also does it makes a copy of the sys.txt file in main memory. The problem most people have is after they have tried to install it once, the file has been copied and they only end up editing the one on the storage card. You have to have an exact copy in both locations for it to work properly.
Does anyone know the problem with the tapping sound?
If you enable the control of the light to be done by iGo then you get a repeating sound just like when tapping the screen..
Thanks in advance!
@opelaki
Open the iGO satellite view and you may see that that "click - click" is issued every time when the GPS receiver is polled (that green "LED" flashing, NOT the process bar). If THIS is the case close iGO go to settings - sounds and notifications - and disable "hardware buttons"

I went through the same drama's.
Now i have iGO installed, but have MAJOR lag.
Any idea how to fix it?
I also get the noise iGO makes when you touch something (Click sound) playing repeated over....and over....and over!
I am having the same problems with my fuze, i copy both folders over to sd card. and it goes through the install thing but will not start up. it just gets the wait cursor, then nothing happens at all. also on my x51v as soon as you pop the sd card in the autorun starts. with my fuze that does not happen
Move the folders iGO8 and 2577 to storage card
Navigate to 2577 on my phone via file explorer
Click AutoRun
After installation, navigate to the iGO8 folder on your storage card and run the iGO8.exe and it worked for me. I just copied that one and pasted in my programs folder and overwrote the install .lnk because it didn't work properly.
Make sure you did it in that process. I'm almost 100% sure that it should work. I have done it on 3 fuzes so far.
btw my SYS.txt is almost completely empty when I installed

Let us remember that the rest of the added applications, files, skins, etc., must have the same reference position as described above.
Polonization Registry:
In this folder are the two registry files:
-default.hv
-user.hv
And XIP section, there is a file boot.rgu, which also have to edit.
Open each file separately, using the option given to us in the oven
Important:
-> In the beginning, you must first register to enter the line: [color = red] REGEDIT4
-> Also, see if between each key is at least one blank line, ie there is no entry
-> All files. Rgu save in UNICODE, so we have opened such as default.rgu in Notepad + + click File> Encoding> Unicode
-> New keys entered by us, can not double the old
In this way we have prepared a record, we can now freely edit.
1) BOOT.RGU
First of all, modify the file boot.rgu with the kernel. How do I get ready to modify XIP, I will not describe here.
We open our boot.rgu in Notepad + +
Repeat steps listed above, which are important for the functioning of such a registry.
Change the value of keys:
From:
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\MUI]
"Enable"=dword:1
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\MUI]
"SysLang"=dword:409
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\MUI]
"CurLang"=dword:409
To:
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\MUI]
"Enable"=dword:1
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\MUI]
"SysLang"=dword:415
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\MUI]
"CurLang"=dword:415
Now move on to the register in the main shell:
2) USER.HV
Change the value of keys:
From:
Code:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\MUI]
"CurLang"=dword:409
To:
Code:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\MUI]
"CurLang"=dword:415
3) DEFAULT.HV
Change the value of keys:
From:
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\MUI]
"Enable"=dword:1
"SysLang"=dword:409
To:
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\MUI]
"Enable"=dword:1
"SysLang"=dword:415
As for the rest of the file, registry, we need to review it and change all the names of folders and files an application system on Polish. We even base the files *. rgu from the downloaded file "Mui"
Polonization other applications:
Even check whether the change all files *. provxml
Poloniztion In conclusion, we have exactly one more time to review our "dump", or sometimes something is not neglected.
If everything is already in order:
Our system, through the kitchen, into a single whole, flash-ing and check whether the OS is complete polonization
Other, no polonization correct defects ...........
If you have any questions or problems, please write and help
GOOD LUCK!!!
Спасибо,буду работать.
Thanks, going to work.

From WWE ROM all works---From CHS ROM no works!
I used Himalaya_wm5_6_rom_dump_by_efane (__http://www.ctrlpda.com/attachment.php?aid=246___),get dump,
carefully
change *.*.mui,editing carefully( [TUT]Change Lang For Himalaya from nokser) USER.HV and DEFAULT.HV(__]http://4pda.ru/forum/dl/post/221333/hvedit_v2.zip___(or different)),initflashfiles.dat(editing__http://rghost.ru/242854__QuoteFilter (or different convertor) initflashfilesNEW and rename in initflashfiles.dat,END!
Himalaya_wm5_6_rom_dump_by_efane--->get nk.nba(nk.nba to nk.nbf not working!????not working checksum?!!!).
nk.nba,_imgfs_removed_data.bin.bak,_imgfs_raw_data .bin.bak copy to Ather_s_Hima_Kitchen(_http://www.rapidsharedata.com/go/101044700/Ather_s_Hima_Kitchen.zip.html_)--- carefully read and comply with all instructions on the screen and push button "Build nk.nbf from new nk.nba"-->get nk.nbf in folder "Upgrade".
Checking nk.nbf--reviewed again at the dump (checking carefully USER.HV,DEFAULT.HV,initflashfiles.dat).If all OK-- upgrade your device.
This is not normal, not logical, but I was able to!!!!
Don't touch file boot.rgu
I am trying to make IGO8 recognize my kml file.
the file looks like this:
Code:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" standalone="yes"?>
<kml xmlns="http://earth.google.com/kml/2.0">
<Folder>
<Folder>
<name>Day 1</name>
<Placemark>
<name>001 Location1 - ATR - Desc1</name>
<description>Addrs1 </description>
<phoneNumber>Tel1</phoneNumber>
<address> </address>
<Point><coordinates>34.814987,32.048725</coordinates></Point>
</Placemark>
</Folder>
</Folder>
</kml>
when I start IGO8 -
manage-POI- the file is shown as : Atestigo8 igo8 (kml)
click on it shows the folder day1
click on day1 shows <NO ITEMS>
can someone suggest my problem ? did I miss something on the kml syntax ?
Any help would be appriciated
p.s.
1. Strating up IGO8 creates the kix and kns files
2. the kml file is located in \SD Card\iGO8\content\userdata\poi
3. when I add new group, the group is added, but when I view the file using notepad, the new group is not there. So I guess IGO8 is actually working on another location ???
thanks again
I think I found the issue.
The KML is fine.
IGO8 will not display the Items unless you are seaching for POI near an address.
This is different than IGO6 where you can display POI - no matter where you actually are.
My question is:
I prepare my trip to another country.
I have many POI in my KML
How can I display them on IGO8 the easiest way?
Is there a bypass to this limitation of displaying a POI only near an address ?
Many thanks !!!
Excatly the same problem here... if anyone has has a hint or solution please...
searching around the web , but nothing that helps...
So I tried LOAD ROUTE
I put the same KML file in the userdat/route folder
started IGO8
the LOAD ROUTE button is inactive and I am in advanced mode
any idea why ?
thanks
this worked for me:
http://forum.mobilism.org/viewtopic.php?p=809137
check your path and the file.
I used routeconverter for mac to convert a garmin map file.
must say it takes a long time to load a lot of waypoints.
GO 8
For people who have a HTC Diamond and iGO 8 not getting working.
Install procedure:
1. Unrar the content of the archive (2577 & iGO8 folders) into your Internal Storage
2. Start autorun in your phone
3. After starting up the program delete the 2577 folder from Internal Storage
OR
1. Unrar the content of the archive (iGO8 folder) into your Internal Storage
2. Rename application.dat to iGO8.exe
3. Open SYS.TXT file located in your IGO8 directory and edit the following section to it:
[folders]
app="%SDCARD%/iGO8"
;app="Internal Storage/iGO8"
[interface]
maxzoom2d=6000000
show_exit=1
TO
[folders]
app="Internal Storage/iGO8"
[interface]
maxzoom2d=6000000
show_exit=1
Don't forget to translate "internal storage" in the phone user interface language. For example in french the line:
[folders]
app="Internal Storage/iGO8"
TO
[folders]
app="Stockage interne/iGO8"
Upgrade procedure (Not 100% sure if working):
1. Start from scratch, and follow the procedure described initially.
2. The first time it says that an "older version exists in your card, do you want to downgrade?"
3. Press yes.
4. A message appear "a newer version exists on your card. do you want to upgrade?"
5. Press yes.
6. Another message appear "older version exists in your card, do you want to downgrade?"
7. Press NO
Settings for GPS:
Go to Settings - GPS Settings, select Port 4 and Baud Rate 57600 or 4800, don't forget to enable GPS also in the settings
OR
In iGO8 at GPS settings select auto search at right bottom and enable GPS
POI:
I can't see POI in iGO8 even if i have in \content\POI:
If you have POI in the content with extension .kml, it wil not work because its an older version. The newer version of POI is with the extension .poi
Paths:
Voice: ....\iGO8\content\voice
Speedcam: ....\iGO8\content\speedcam
