I've had no problem with WM6.5 RomeOS, but my friends on pdaclub.pl had some problems too.
It's strange. Maybe it works only for non branded HTC phones? I've got mine from expansys.

Hm, running latest NRGZ 6.5 and tells me something about the fix not being compatible with my device. It's pure HTC not branded. Nevermind, after reading setup.xml of this fix seems like what it does is clearing gps data from memory. It installs cleangpsdata. All this does to my knowledge is deleting ephemeris data before re-downloading new ones. You should be able to do the same with HTC GPS tool and dowloading new data with quick gps....If so, let me please have a good laugh at HTC support team ..if this all they have come up to satisfy all of us strugeling with gps from day 1...I have no words
Why don't they hire some of the chefs here at xda to make perfect devices?.....

Says it's not compatible with EnergyROM 2.0, WM 6.1

Hmmm... I am using NATF's Rom so I don't have any GPS lock issues my self...
I wonder what this file does though?

U tried it,but it doesn't seems it helps. Still unable to use the GPS. I start to thinking, that the GPS receiver in TP is just a "something more" on the paper for dealers. For GPS I use my Toshiba G710 with SirF3 chipset and it's uncomparable.

This update doesn't give me any inprovements

Have no problem before but after doing some tweak found on http://blog.mohdimran.com/2008/11/htc-touch-pro-gps-problem-tweaking.html the problem appear. I then re-flash it with NRG energy rom 2.0 41609. The problem disappear. I guess what didn't break don't fix it for my case.

Most, if not all of the newer roms have the aGPS feature fully working, which works to eliminate the problem of not getting a GPS fix.....i e the RRE roms

just wondering if some of you that upgraded from a trinity to a Kaiser are happy with it.. Was thinking about getting one.. have been trying an iphone, but the lack of good pda features is killing me..
so i've been looking at getting a kaiser, but without a lot of nice cooked roms out yet and stuff, i was just wondering what you guys thought about it.

I will take the Kaiser anytime over the trinity, save the bug of the bulk updates on the GPS system.
Just using the stock ROM and add on the softwares that I need, and its great.
The response is faster than the trinity.
The GPS system is definitely a lot faster. Can get fix almost immediate.
Not sure about the peeling off issue will happen to Kaiser. Just got mine for few days.

Hello my friend, I have changed to HTC Tytn II, and man what a big change, loving the new one and not even missing the trinity a bit, the Kaiser is for sure a keeper, its a show piece, high quality material finish, no peeling issues, keyboard with a lovely tilt, GPS is outstanding; by the time you start the nav app your gps is fixed , and not forgetting the big space in both ram and rom, I do recommend the Kaiser to everybody, and would always look forward to see a Kasierguides.info by racerx_
Yep - I was a Trinity owner and for me , I got really frustrated at not having a proper keyboard - solved with the Kaiser!!!
Plus it has a lot more memory available, especially with a cooked ROM..
Cheers
John
I also upgraded my Trinity to Kaiser, and I fully agree with taiseer999.
He forgot to mention the Trinity MiniSD issue with disappearing files and stuff. the Kaiser dont have this issue at all.
The down side for me in compare to the Trinity is the size and the weight, and also the BT Headset sound. but other than that, all perfect for me.
helllo....
i'm using trinity before i get brand new htc tytn II.For me,htc tytn II is better than trinity in all department.Because of that i sold my trinity.
For Iphone i had too for a week, but i cant compare those two devices because there build for different purpose and differrent os,but the two of devices is good.....
cheers
Kaiser feel very solid when compared to trinity. But the weight difference is quite big. But love every moment with it. GPS connection is definitely faster. Haven't tried cook rom yet since the ROM/RAM size is double of trinity.
Keyboard is good but with new software keyboard like touchpal. Hardware keyboard is no longer a necessity.
thanks everybody for the feedback.. very helpful. Sounds like no one's looking back...

the GPS stream does not come in smoothly like the trinity, but instead, it comes in bursts every 8 seconds or so.
The updates on voice navigation is therefore somewhat delayed at times.
Sometimes, it can tell me to exit at the intersection ahead, where I have already passed it.
This is with the bundled R12 Mapking (for asia), and Mapking 2007 (retail).

There is a software update for R12:
http://mapking.com.sg/download/MapKing R12/TyTn II/TytnII_Setup_MapKingR12.zip
For MapKing 2007, you can use GPSproxy + Mapking to improve the refresh rate.

well, HTC Asia has confirmed that its a bug, so they should solve the problem, although there are workarounds.
Until that happens, its still a bug in their ROM.

you see, using the R12 that comes with Kaiser in the Trinity, there is absolutely no problems at all.
Using the same version of MK2007 on Trinity, there is no problems at all as well.
From what I can comprehend, its the GPS multiplexing software that is causing the problem in the Kaiser.
The R12 fix you are talking about most probably reroutes the signal by bypassing the multiplexer, directly to the GPS COM port.
This way, if you have 2 GPS softwares running at the same time, the 2nd software cannot work. e.g. R12, and GPS photo.
But anyway, since HTC has acknowledged that its a bug, I guess its good to let all know.
sorry this is still confusing me. Is there a problem with gps bursts or not? I thought you said there was, now saying there's not??

the GPS signal/stream comes in bursts every 7-8 seconds, unlike in trinity, where its updated frequently.
Since you are using MK2007, you should see that the GPS stream is updated smoothly in it.
what this cause is that your location is updated whenever the burst comes in.
So if you are driving, and it tell yous to "exit at the intersection ahead", you may have already passed it.
I used the EXACT same copy of MK2007 on both trinity and Kaiser.
Trinity ok, Kaiser NG (bursts)
Using the EXACT same copy of MKR12 from Kaiser on trinity, its ok, but when you install it on Kaiser, you get the bursts... and you need to use the updated version on the Kaiser to workaround this issue.
Matrix:
------------MK2007-------MKR12------
Kaiser -------NG------------NG-------|
Trinity-------OK------------OK-------|
So to me, its a problem, and HTC acknowledged that its a bug.

Another broken GPS.

Hey guys, hope you can help.
Successfully updated my V1615 to WM6.1 on Friday.
Before I did this, I had TomTom installed which used to get a lock on to the satellites in less than 30 seconds.
I used the device with TomTom on Saturday and after an initial delay of locking on (which I assumed normal as it was a fresh install) it worked.
However trying to use it today and it just will not pick up a signal.
The ROM I used was the Vodafone one linked to from the Wiki list. (3.08.161.0) (Radio 1.64.08.21).
I have also tried Changing the Radio ROM to 1.65.17.10 but no difference.
It's set to Other NMEA device, 4800 baud and COM4 like it always was. I have run a QuickGPS download.
Strange thing is, when I go into the GPS config in TomTom I used have all the satellites listed in gray which would then turn blue when locked on but now they aren't listed at all.
Please help! I do have a bluetooth gps receiver from when I had my Hermes so I can get but part of the reason to get the Kaiser is so I have an all in one unit. I'm just in the middle of a hard reset to try again but does anyone have any thoughts on the matter? It's gone from being a brilliant GPS unit to a dodo!
Thanks!
Test if Google Maps finds some satelittes, just to check if there is a problem with TomTom
http://www.google.co.uk/mobile/gmm/stp-js.html
If that doesn't work, I'd reinstall the old ROM and see if the functionality returns and if it doesn't assume you have somehow broken the GPS.

wow you picked the wrong radio to change too. You should have read about it before changing to 1.65.17.10. You should do some research on what you did to yourself.

Maybe you should read the thread that redbandana is talking about... maybe the bit about it being locked to your phone and you can't downgrade it... not really a good choice 'cos he's now stuck with that radio and also maybe stuck with WM6.1 (which also sucks - WM6.0 faster and more stable imho).
I had to do a hard reset and reinstall apps. TomTom no longer works. LiveSearch does RunGPS does. Neither TomTom or GPSTest can find the GPS. Any suggestions? When you choose other NMEA device in TomTom options are Serial on USB and COM7: that's it.
Thanks for any suggestions.
Well, it works now! I used to be able to get a lock on indoors, but now I can't. However if I go outside I cado get a lock on in TomTom. It seems like the GPS is now less sensitive, but hey, it works aand that's the main thing.
I'll do a search later but does anyone have a link to the thread regarding this dodgy radio. I did try and downgrade it but as you say, it didn't. I have some more coming in this week anyway so I can give this to someone who doesn't need/want GPS and I'll have the shiny new one. Ah the joys of working in IT!
Oh, and thanks to IK for the Google Maps link, brilliant app! I'd seen it on the PC but not pocket PC.
FWIW, my Tomtom uses the "Internal GPS" setting, not "other NMEA device"

This is the link for the 'dodgy radio'. It looks like it is also an AT&T only radio.
Thanks ach2. Did a search and have spent all morning readin it!
I'm now having issues with the actual phone operation, intermitant no sound or buzzing.
I think I'm going to take a chance and return it to Vodafone. They do a next day swap under our corporate contract.
If there is any comeback I'll just plead ignorance!
Satrted to have the buzzing earpiece and broken camera issue with this radio, so it's gone back to Vodafone as faulty! Replacement is currently still on stock Vodafone WM6.0 ROM. To be honest I think I'll stick with 6.0, as 6.1 didn't really offer anything over it.
Roll on 7.0!!

If you're sticking to WM6.0 (i do too) try Q-mobile 1.2 with radio 1.27.12.17 or 1.27.12.32 - they both work well in the UK.

My friend, you need this (Vodafone WM 6.1 pre release) and use it with this Niki 1.58.11.07 Radio.
Been running this for a few days and basically I've changed my opinion on my V1615 from wanting to sell to now enjoying using it.
Highlights include 30 - 55 second GPS fix in TomTom, much much better speaker phone and better call quality.
Try these out and I'm sure you'll agree.
Thanks guys, maybe I'll try them over the weekend.
Actually, that Vodafone 6.1 ROM is the one I tried and to be honest I didn't see much difference between that and the stock 6.0 one.
As long as I'm outside I get a lock on in TomTom in about 15 seconds which is good enough for me. On my old one that I bricked I was sure I used to get a signal inside as well.
I'm just looking at the Wiki for the Q-mobile one.
Thanks again for the help, suggestions and info. This is what makes the internet great! Complete strangers helping each other out.

What's that? Is that the one where you press end call to end a call and sometimes it locks your touch screen? If so yes, but not very often.
Yeah something to do with when you set your device with a password and it goes into sleep mode during a call and then you wake it up and the start menu stops working.

Help! IGO8 always crashes!

Hey everybody, problem is as follows:
Installation works without problems, and after disabling HTC Home it starts properly. Everything seems to work fine, but after a few minutes of navigation it crashes! Screen freezes and no input is possible. Only way to get out is a soft reset.
does anybody have an idea how to solve the issue? would be thankfull for every suggestion!
by the way, I use Dutty's latest ROM [Jun 07] (Dutty's Diamond V1 Build 19588)
greetings!
ok... it's even worse now!
i uninstalled and reinstalled IGO8. and now it doesn't even start up anymore. well it tries to. the starting screen shows up, and it starts processing. but at some point the whole device (kaiser) just collapses and starts up completely new!
please! someone tell me whats going on!
First: Search in rom tread
Secound: Post rom related question in rom tread (yes this is rom related)
This issue been discussed in about every new build tread since Duttys april 29 hybrid. You will find youre answer in V1 tread, and before you flip. Its normal, youre kaiser isnt dying
Just desactivate AGPS :
Edit the registry HKLM/Software/HTC/SUPL AGPS/
Set 0 to EnableAGPS key.
Restart your kaiser, relaunch IGO8 and enjoy
DrQ is half-right...
You also need to disable HTC-Home if you're under WM6.1 AFAIK.
thanks for your answers...
even though I'm quite new to all of this, I found out myself that aGPS and HTC have to be disabled. I did both, but the problem exists. that's why I posted.
raiisak, thanks for your comment! I think you're also talking bout the aGPS and HTC-home disabling "fix" ... cause I looked over the Dutty V1 thread more than once without finding an other post concerning this problem...
I guess I will just do what Dutty did: going back to his APR 29th build. That one was stable and everything worked without problems. also I share his opinion that 6.1 sucks.

No.. iGO8 crashes like *crazy* on my stock ATT Tilt (shipped ROM/Radio/etc). If it doesn't crash it locks it up and I have to poke the reset hole.
I'll try disabling AGPS to see if that helps.. I don't have HTC Home installed, although I did a while back.

AT&T Stock with Bloat? Cause th bloat really makes the Tilt suck.
As long as HTC Home isn't running. Igo and HTC Home share a file. But like twin brothers they don't share it well.
You need to dump dutty
I wasted hours of my life getting iGo8 to work with my Kaiser. Unfortunately it's a bigger problem than just uninstalling HTC Home (if you can) and disabling A-GPS.
In the end I dumped Dutty and flashed L26_Kaiser_Diamond_V8_light release by Laurentius26. This solved all the problems. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=400118
Only thing that doesn't work with this ROM are custom keyboards (SIP), such as PCM Keyboard. Apart from that iGo8 works a treat

I run IGO8 with Dutty's Diamond V1 without problems (if I disable HTC Home, that is). The reboots have something with either the legality of your IGO8 release, or with the fact that you dumped to many POI files in the POI directory (i.e. all available countries). In Dutty's Hybrid V2 this was not an issue, and it must have something to do with memory management in the Diamond ROM.
@mb: different ROMs work best for different people, no need to be a fanboy.

As mentioned in this thread, AGPS fixes it. Very odd. iGO has some quirky bugs.. This one I would consider a MAJOR bug, but oh well.. Another bug I noticed (and is on their website in the FAQS) is that their timezone/system time from GPS functionality is hosed.. Always wind up with the time on the PDA being GMT. Have to fiddle to get it to set the time right then disable that functionality or disable it and fix it in WM.
Otherwise, it seems to work well enough.. Wish I had 3d/buildings here to look at, but otherwise the maps look pretty nice with parks and such outlined. Still looking into how to add my own POI's without some silly .net gui in Windows to do it.

No. IGO8 works with HTC Home in Dutty's WM6.1 Hybrid V2. It really depends on the OS version in the specific ROM, be it WM6 or WM6.1.
Tried the rest and went back to the Best. Duttys April 29th Hybrid is staying on my tytn2 now . Dutty will be missed here.

Happy cooking!!
THANKS!!!! c",)
Where and how did you get this rom?
thanks!!!!!!!
big up to you.
downloaded, gonna cook it and flash it today
Well well, that's a nice news flash... how come it's not a pre-cooked ROM, and could you explain a little more on how this ROM was built ? Please tell us everything you know about the ROM
Just flashed the rom as it came. Works fine and its quite speedy.
I had to use EnableRapi.cab, or it wouldnt work.
Liberation works flawlessly.
Changed from my Japanese rom to English.
Nicely done...Thanks very much.
PS. After the liberation and first soft reset, i had a strange high pitched noise. Soft reset fixed it.
Please show us screenies
Does the GPS Settings Icon allow you to share/split your comports with success ?
To be sure, is the ROM liberated out of the box, or do you have to re-liberate ?
How much mem is free after soft reset , and did you test the GPS already ?
QUOTE=aquasesh;2519227]Just flashed the rom as it came.
Soft reset fixed it.[/QUOTE]
You have to re liberate afterward.
GPS works on com4. got 30 Meg for storage, and 20 meg ram
ok flashed,
rom is dated 02/01/08.. its older than my original one
everything work well after liberation
however dont know telnav , they ask a pin with registration.. is it a good software..is it free??
other softaware like this one exist? (google navigator i supose)

Unfortunately the GPS is TeleNav...Since I live in Japan, I cannot sign up and check.
The rom is a shipping rom, so not liberated. But liberation works fine.
Mem is 35.95 Storage and 43.05 Program
It has a Storage Card tab under memory settings, but shows my card as not installed.
Screens will follow....
Who will Cook a liberated ROM - Vanilla ?
Who can liberate the stock ROM, and cook that into a new ROM ?
I guess the starting point for many people would be a Cooked&Liberated GPS enabled ROM.
From there, the Chiefs in the ROM Kitchens' can elaborate on that as a starting point.
It would be great if the Chiefs keep in mind that the SPLASH screens in the Shift are really UGLY and need to be flashed too
Somehow I dont have any sound using this rom.
Try turning sound on in VIsta, then soft-reset SnapVue

I had this once, without even flashing a ROM, it just happened.
Booted vista, de-mute, reset Snapvue and it worked,
if this doesn't work, it would be nice to hear more stories from people who flashed....
Hope you get your Tunes back.... !
Got sound. Be sure to install all latest drivers on vista side from htc. See my post on the shift forum. I had this bug before, but not anymore.
I don't think the sound issues have anything to do with audio drivers in vista side. IMHO it's related to the radio version. This ROM seems to play nicely with radio versions 1.27.x but not with radio versions 1.58.x.
Can anyone confirm that "GPS Sharing from WinMo >> Vista"
is working ? How do you do it, how does one send GPS data to vista ?
Can anyone confirm that the GPS Settings ICON in WinMo is succesfull in enabling a hardware and software (virtual) comport in WinMo ?

GPS work and I tested it. To send data to vista, you can setup an activesync connection and use franson gpsgate on both side using an activesync passtrough

I had the sound problem, but not anymore. I've upgraded ec drivers, and everything htc published a few days ago. I didn't change my radio. The drivers are definitly helping, even if it's the shagsrv or the ec controler playing a part here.
I have a 1.58 radio version, and the rom works very well with it.
I'm sure vista plays a part in this bug, and the latest update solves it.
EDIT: you are right, I don't have headset plug working anymore

Diamond GPS Hotfix from HTC

HTC has released a hotfix for resolving difficulties finding or locating a position when using GPS for HTC Touch Diamond...
You can reach the hotfix from following link:
http://www.htc.com/www/SupportDownload.aspx?p_id=133&cat=0&dl_id=569
I hope this hotfix solves the diamond gps lag.
Did someone tried?

Tried to installed but hotfix says it is not compatible with my device. May have to wait for the diamond ver or if someone here can change the package to work with any device ID
I ran this on my sprint diamond and sprintnav still works, except I found another problem unrelated, sort of.
Hi,
just copied the file to my device (XDA Diamond - Stock Rom) and it works without problems. I think it wont work with custom roms.
I just noticed that the i get a fix very fast. Other than that, i didnt tested if the lag is gone, but why it should be. The fix is only for getting a faster GPS Fix. It isnt a fix for a lag problem.

If anyone with a stock rom can install test and report back, i think we would all be interested. BTW it says on the HTC site that it fixes the 'lag' (if it does woohoo)
I installed the fix on BsB 6.5G Black ROM (no need for original ROM). I can't really say that it helped reducing my satellite fix time. Before installing I had sat fix in about 1 min (cold start) and now it took like 1.5 min. But it seems like more stable (doesn't loose fix like it did sometimes before). On the other hand, warm start is lightning fast, taking about 5 seconds to get a fix.
Didn't test it yet for GPS lag. I will report back in the afternoon!
"This hotfix is not compatible with your device"
Running Shaks 4.30 with radio 1.09.25.23
weird or weird ?
Bad news. The lag of the gps stills on. But the sat fix time is better.
By the way, I have an official 2.03.410.2 ptg rom.
It´s funny that in my old official 1.37... rom the gps worked fine without delays. But now it has 30 mt of delay.
I´ve tried all the com ports in the hardware and the better is 9.
Yes would be fine if we had a cab ..... im still unable to install the fix

Hi Pinttas,
I have a lag on my GPS. I haven't tested different ports. Does it make much difference? Do you know why it might?

WinRar is able to extract content from the Exe, it has a cab layout in fact. From what I can see, it installs "CleanGpsData.exe" with a link to it in \windows\startup (the link didn't seem to be installed on mine by the way).
The cab has a setup.dll, I can't be sure it doesn't adjust any registry settings or else, but it doesn't seem to.
Hi mitsi,
the ports are the whay the software comunicate with the hardware.
I have a big difference between ports, +-30mts.
In the com ports nr 3 and 7 I cant get sat. the 2 is the worst and 9 the better.
I don´t now if is the same for all. I think it depends on the rom you have.

Hi Pinttas,
Thanks for the tip. I'll check it out on mine.... I hope I can find a better port!
I still have the same lag, i still can't use my paired BT Nokia headset and the GPS at the same time (witch i could in the nokia n73). it's a little bit faster the fix, but not as much.
I tried this and have found the fix to be faster, as others have reported. Funnily enough, my Tomtom has no lag but my Igo8 does..... Weird.....
pinntas - you are right about the ports. On some I don't get any connection at all. The others don't seem to be much different though. I think Ports 4 and 9 seem to be the most stable on mine.
