well since ull be flashing an original rom uspl will not be needed..

you can actually download the official ROM from HTC website (at least in Asia, not sure about Europe). In fact, from HTC website, they have telco-specific ROM (such as Starhub and Telstra).
I have done it before, downgrading dutty 3.7 ROM to stock/official using the official ROM update package, and it'll revert back my SPL to 1.12 as well. But I was on SPL/USPL, so I'm not sure with your hard SPL, would your base be downgraded as well, but my guess is it should.

thanks
i'm using USPL too
Sorry to sound a dumb ass, but i want to make sure i get this right, cant find much on down grading just upgrading
i've downloaded this file
RUU_BlackStone_Orange_UK_1.19.61.1.rar
and it extracts as
ruu_signed.nbh
can i just use this file from dutties rom
BlackstoneRUUWrapper.exe
and put the .nbh file in the same folder?
the only method i know how to flash is as below
1. put phone into bootloader mode
2. run blac_uspl.exe (for 1.56 roms)
3. wait for the cmd prompt to establish a connection
4. run BlackstoneRUUWrapper.exe which had the dutties rom in same folder
based on that info, do i do that same thing to downgrade?
if someone could let me know which steps i need to follow/mis out that would be great thanks

Since you have Dutty's 3.7 on your device at the moment and you are going to restore the stock Orange rom you need to restore the stock SPL that came on your phone before you flash the rom. Otherwise you will be running a newer SPL that is not supported with the older Orange rom and will have distortion and compatibility issues.
To restore your phone to stock you need to:
1. Flash original SPL - most likely 1.14.0000 since the rom versions for Orange are 1.14.xxxx and 1.19.xxxx.
2. Flash original rom.
If you need help restoring the original SPL look in the HSPL thread where it says "How to reflash Stock/Shipped SPL - STEP BY STEP - FOR WARRANTY REASONS ONLY!"
If you still can't figure it out after that, let me know.

also take note of youre sending it back due to faults they wont checkit they just send you another and replace the motherboard
i knoiw because i asked what they didwenthey gotr the broken ones back

[Q] Few ROM and SPL Questions

I've got a few questions, hope no one minds answering. If it's a simple case of RTFM then lock the thread and trash.
1. I've rooted and am using the latest JF build but when I go to telnet I can't connect to localhost anymore. Is this normal?
2. I'm running stock SPL and Radio (not too sure what the radio is btw). Is it best I update before flashing anymore roms?
3. I'm wanting to flash to Cyanogen Mod rom, it looks a lot more complex than simply renaming the rom to update.zip then flashing. Is it safe to assume that there is a lot more work to do? (if so a general point in the right direction would be greatly appreciated).
I really appreciate any help.
Thanks
1. I'm not sure as it has been some time since I last used JF's build I'm afriad...
2. Its advisable at the very least to upgrade your radio (look at my signature for a link). You can upgrade your SPL too providing you have flashed the latest radio FIRST and that you are on a PVT motherboard.
Boot into the SPL to find that out (turn off/reboot the mobile, Hold CAMERA+POWER). It should say at the top.
3. To use Cyanogen's ROM its like flashing any other ROM. Just make sure you have the latest Radio FIRST. Also I believe it works fine for non Apps2SD users so no need to partition your SD card etc to use it.
Hope that helps.

Unless it was updated while rooting it's probably "G1 Original SPL"
Thanks NeoBlade, I'll update the radio and spl tomorrow then probably try and get nandroid running so I've got a backup in case anything goes wrong.
No worries digital, just do your usual pre-checks before flashing the SPL and remember Radio first ^_-
You'll enjoy the new features and performance improvements using the latest cooked ROMs out there. Most of the info is in my signature but you can also flash the new Recovery image too by Cyanogen (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=523558).
Not only can you create a Nandroid backup from there, you can also restore it too all from your mobile ^_^
Not to be an @ssh*le, but if you root your phone don't you already have the HardSPL? If you follow Koush's guide you were told to flash the HardSPL which isn't the stock SPL at all. Care to shed some light on this?
He could have had the engineering SPL, I remember having that briefly myself in the early days. The main thing is that he just wants to run Cyanogen's ROM so as long as he updates the radio and flashes the ROM without issues it should be fine. Unlike some Hero ROMs it doesn't require the latest SPL to create space for the ROM.
Granted though, its often always nice to have the latest stuff ^_-
Ok well if you DECIDE to update to the latest radio and SPL just go to my guide below and go to the second post. That will tell you how to install the radio and spl updates!
Good luck!
Indeed ^_^ And once that's done, perhaps change the title to SOLVED so people know. We shall have to wait for digital to get back to us about it.
This is the guide I used:
http://haykuro.theiphoneproject.org/?page_id=35
Sorry alritewhadeva:
I'm on the HardSPL so I guess I don't need to bother updating that again. I didn't get to the point where it said to update to the newest radio.
Reading a bit further it also says that I can do a backup easily using adb which is already setup. At some point in the process it must have installed the things needed for nandroid backup. I think it was the recovery.img part.
Thanks for the great link Nephron, I used it before to setup adb on my netbook (running win7 on my main machine).
Before I flash the latest radio is it safe to do this *after* updating the spl?
Thanks for all the great help, I really appreciate it.
As a thumb of rule, always flash the radio first before the SPL and the ROM.
Tell us how it goes ^_^ If you've managedto do it, could you please edit the title then to add SOLVED? Good luck.
Soo do you have to flash the radio and SPL everytime you want to flash a rom??? i already have the latest radio, i just want to make sure i dont make a mistake

No you don't. Only once... then kind of keep an eye on the forum to see if better radio or SPL comes along. So far I had to update my radio once. What recovery image do you have (home+power), is it still JF1.43? You should update that to CM 1.4, you get a lot more flexibility with that... read up on it in development forum. All in all, unless you plan to install Hero anytime soon (and I personally don't recommend it, too slow and buggy) you should be good with (in that very order)
1. Flashing newest RADIO (Haykuro has it in the link you provided, only need to do it once and you already did it!)
2. Flashing HardSPL (you already did that too! no need to do it again)
2. Updating your Recovery Image (once more, this only needs to be done once)
After that - flash any rom you feel like at any time you feel like doing it.
Hope that helps, good luck!
I agree with everything borodin1 said. If you're on a 1.5 ROM you really should have the new radio already, but you can always go back and flash it. Afterwards you'll want hard SPL or haykuro's. Haykuro's is what you'll need for most HTC based ROMs (Hero, Rogers). Most people brick when flashing Haykuro's ROM because they don't read. Aslong as you have the new radio and a PVT phone (go to the bootloader - home + camera - and it should say PVT) you will be fine.

Problems/Stock ROMs

Just a couple of quick questions, have searched but couldn't find an answer.
Firstly, have been having a few problems with a lot of the custom ROMs I've been using recently, they usually work well for a while, then start going wrong. I've heard you're meant to flash a stock ROM in between each custom one, was wondering if that's true, as I've never seen it written anywhere. I flash using USPL if it matters. Currently using Dutty's Leo R5, which has also just started going wrong for me.
Also out of interest, how would I go about flashing a stock ROM? Same process as normal? And where would I be able to get the latest one from?
Cheers for any help.

I've never once flashed back to a stock rom in-between custom roms (and I've tried a few) .
But I have also heard that it works for some people having issues with flashing. If you are using uspl, then your stock spl is still intact and you should just be able to flash back to a stock rom (AFAIK in any case - sorry you can see I use hspl)
You can find many of the shipped roms (stock) here
Depending on the rom you choose and your current spl you may get the blue/green screen after the flash, but that would only be due to a rom/spl mismatch.
Thanks for the help, gonna flash a stable ROM for the next few days I think. Just one other thing I've been thinking of, I've got SPL 1.54 showing up in bootloader mode. You know if that's still the one you're supposed to use? Not sure if it should be 1.56?

Is it still 1.54.0000? This is actually an updated stock spl which you loaded when using uspl, so you should be able to just flash one of the later version stock roms. There is no need to downgrade your spl to your original (unless of course you need to return your phone for service)
1.56 is only as a result of using hspl and AFAIK there is no stock 1.56 version.

Fortunatly we are dealing with a form of Windows and as in any windows there is not so much difference. This means that it is silly to think that the same windows OS u installed is running as well or the same as to when u first installed it. We have to MAINTAIN it....
Think of ur phone rom as if it were a windows version on a regular PC. What happens after a few weeks is that it gets cluttered with unnused registry keys (even from installing and uninstalling apps), cache files, temp files and all other junk that gets installed by default. This means that u as a user have to clean it once in a while to get get rid of all this stuff that is going to make ur windows and thus ur phone slow after a while. Fortunatly there is help for us to do so. I use Pocket Mechanic and SKTools for this reason. Another thing is that u can look at the windows startup folder to see what is started. The less it is starting the faster and snappier ur phone will be..
I think it is also silly to think that u have to reflash a new rom every other day. I only flash a new rom if i see some major upgrades in the new one.
I hope this helps some...

If u enjoy flashing 4 roms a day to see if one or other rom will run better go right ahead, that seem to be a hobby in itself for some people. If thats is doing any good to you or ur HD ? Doubtfull but who am i to judge...
I just said that things don't have to go bad after a period of time becouse it doesn't have to be that way, u are the boss and not ur windows OS.

Can I go back to the original Xperia X1 ROM?

I'm tired of using all these different cooked ROMS' and each of them have a different problem...some are slow...some are buggy...or maybe it's just my stupid phone/T-Mobile network...or all because it's Microsoft WIndows.
In any case, I'd try going back to Son'y original ROM, is there a way to do that?

Hi! Yes you may install the stock ROM same way you've been installing the Cooked ROM's.
Just Find the original stock one in this Forum's ROM Section (it is a Sticky).
If you use the sdcard method is more simple. After finding the stock Rom xxx.nbh file, just rename it to "Kovsimg.nbh".
Hope this helps.
I just did the same 2 days ago. You can find the stock WM 6.1 Roms HERE.
And as said just rename the image file to Kovsimg.nbh and flash it like any other Rom.

Hi, I have a question … I'm still running WM6.1 with a stock R3AA010 ROM. I'm considering installing one of the WM6.5 ROMs (gtrab's SEX1 R5 BareBone ROM). To do this I need to install the HardSPL, I know. If I want to go back to the stock ROM will R3AA010 install using the HardSPL or do you have to re-install the Stock-SPL. If so how do you do that? I'm sorry if these are noob questions, but the guides aren't absolutely clear on this point - or maybe its I'm a little thick

If you've Hard-SPL and put a custom ROM in but want to change to an official rom, just download the rom and flash as you would a custom rom.
You don't have to put Stock-SPL if you don't want to. But if you someday wanna leave it in for repair etc, then you will have to put Stock-SPL on it, for guarantee reasons.

Thanks for the clarification dogans. So just to be clear, if I revert from a custom ROM back to a stock ROM the Stock-SPL isn't installed as part of the process. You have to install it afterward, just as you do with the Hard-SPL - Yes?
As far as i know, the HardSPL cant' be overridden by a usual stock ROM. You have to manual flash the original SPL.
Using a stock ROM with HardSPL isn't a problem, but i can't tell you how to get the original stock SPL back if you did _not_ back it up before (thats what i did -.-).
Maybe someone can tell me how to do this, would be very nice

Correct. Stock-SPL isn't included in stock ROM.
You will have to flash that separately.

have you tried to go in bootloader mode (3-color-screen) turn phone off. Than press vol down button and camera button until you see a 3 color screen, then you you can put in your USB cable and flash a rom you like the same way you did it with the android rom.

Noob trying to flash ROMs

Hi all,
I'm new to this kind of operation, so I'm just wondering if the following sequence is correct or not.
1. Flash the HardSPL
2. Flash the ROM (I'm looking into the WCX Rhodium TILT 2 ROM)
3. Flash the Radio.
4. Run Task 29
Am I done? Do I need to download the hotfixes from HTC's website? I'm going to get the Tilt 2 from AT&T.
Thanks a lot!

I dont know exactly what is task 29, but when I was flashing my TP2, then I did this steps
1. sync my phone with windows in windows wia USB
2. start HardSPL auto mode (this have to be done only once, if you never made a flash before).
3. reboot TP2
3. run custom ROM
4. reboot phone
5. do a hard reset (recommended but not necessary)
remember that flashing your phone will erase all your data on it !!!!
this was all and everything works fine
If I can recommend than try energy ROM with Sense 2,5, it seems to be reall fast and stable ..
http ://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=562773
Task 29 is actually sticky on the top of this board
Task29 formats the memory of your phone. If you want to use it you have to do it BEFORE installing the new ROM. It is not recomended if you are changing from Stock to Custom ROM, more likely if you flash different Custom ROMs.
Ahh, thanks!
What about the 2 hotfix from HTC, do I need to install them after the flash of the custom ROM?

ok, so as I understand, task29 have to be started after HardSPL and before ROM flash to clean ROM memory.
I didn't used it and I don't see any bugs or something like this
about hotfixes
I thing its not necessary custom ROMs have in most cases everything well-tuned
you will see
Wonderful, I think that's all I can think of right now! Thanks for all your help!
I take the POST to ask something else...
The suggested order for the flashing of a Rhodium is:
HardSPL
Task29
Flash ROM (Recommended Hard Reset after flashing)
Flash Radio
The process is right?

You can still install official ROMs (e.g. from HTC or your carrier), even if you've got HardSPL, yes.
As for the first bit above though, whether you can install an official ROM without HardSPL depends on your phone/ROM combination. If that ROM is an official ROM designed specifically for your model/branding/carrier of phone, then you don't need HardSPL. e.g. I have a Vodafone-branded TP2, so without HardSPL I would be able to install official Vodafone ROMs, but I would *not* be able to install an official HTC ROM (because my phone isn't just a plain HTC-branded TP2).

Thank you very much.
Help is greatly appreciated...
Another little question?
Is there any problem if flashing first the Radio (4.49.25.77) and then the ROM (WWE | Rhodium | Energy | May 28 | 21905).
THANKS.
Please refer to here for flashing questions.

I know how to flash roms and spl but...

i used many roms and lately i decided to return to stock rom.
but i did a mistake.
i used :
flashed Task29 then flashed X1_STOCK_SPL_072.zip
right now i cant use seus. and i cant hardspl to use custom roms.
i looked up for any solution here but i didnt find something worked with me.
only some one post saying :
"You need to obtain the stock rom (does not have to be recent) install it, then revert back to
stock hardspl, then you can use SEUS to update to the latest."

extra how to: how to restore Stock SPL for warranty reasons.
step by step:
- this is ONLY for warranty reasons. i.e. the device needs repair and you have to send it to htc to get it serviced. if you plan to restore hardspl then don't even bother flashing this stock package, unless you are some kind of hacker/dev
- IMPORTANT:be sure to first restore stock OS, and stock radio. stock SPL is always to be done last!!

I did exactly the opposite.
i cleard the OS. then flashed stock spl.
right now i am downloading SonyEricsson_X1i_firmware_GENERIC_UK_R3AA010.
so my question is =>
shoud i use ROMUpdateUtility.exe with SonyEricsson_X1i_firmware_GENERIC_UK_R3AA01 when i am on stock spl. and it will work? and if it not going to work.
what shoud i do to at least flash hard spl. so i can use custom roms again.
Ok it work fine now..
so i case any one did do that again.
no OS + stock spl
then u must flash a stock from and then go on as ur life were befor xD
You must hard spl your x1 again and follow these steps.
1: rename image of stock rom to ruu_signed.nbh
2: use ROMUpdateUtility.exe and flash ruu_signed.nbh as normal custom rom
3: Hardreset and let x1 bootup
4: flashed X1_STOCK_SPL_072
5: Hardreset and let x1 bootup
6: use seus to upgrade to latest stock rom
REMEMBER YOU MUST FLASH STOCK ROM BEFORE STOCK SPL
Good Luck
I hope that helps
EDIT: oooopppsss you solve it did not saw last line of your post
