Clean keyboard terminals
hey, you can easily pull out the keyboard of kaiser.. no need to dismantle the unit... just use any precission flat screw.. kaiser keyboard is glued.. be sure you pull up the main pad of the keyboard not a key.. start on the lower part of the keyboard... when your done, clean the contact terminals using a cotton buds with alcohol... clean only the contact terminals.. do not clean the outer part of the terminals so you could maintain the stikiness.. plug again the keyboard and your done!
I always do this on my tilt coz i have exessive swetness in my hands that causes my titl keyboard not to function well..

Blue Angel SLIDER GETTING LOOSER!!!!

Is there any way you can tighten up the slider of the Blue Angel, because it seems to get loose and looser, is there any place you can tighten it, or is impossible?,,,thank you :?:
Keyboard Loooose
My keyboard is also getting looser all the time, it's only 12mths old and the keyboard has hardly had any use.
G
I've heard there is a temporary fix (I think at Pocket PC Techs), but it is temporary as it'll get loosen again anyway; the loosening keyboard is a construction error in BA. It is also random; I, for one, use the keyboard a LOT, yet my keyboard slider is still very good, and I have this device since 9 months or so. But my friend's BA, who bought almost at the same time as me, had a really loosen slider after around 6 months.
Here you go...
We have this issue with most of our refurbs. Remove the keyboard and slider unit, use a pair of flat nose pliers and gently bend the black rails toward the outside of the unit. You must go gently here working from center to each end of the rail as a very little goes a long way to tighten up everything. Hope that helps!

[Q] Stylus Problem - PLEASE HELP...

Hi,
When I pull my stylus - nothing happens... doesn't turn on or unlock device.
or during a call opens "notes".
Everything is Checked - it should do it, but it won't...
Any Ideas ???
Thanks
Take out the stylus, then remove the rear panel from your diamond. Look to see if the tiny magnet strip has become dislodged. This happened to mine after I'd had it just two days... it made it difficult to insert the stylus, and it just felt all wrong, because the strip had stuck itself in an awkward position. It also wouldn't recognize when the stylus was withdrawn.
I very nearly returned my diamond under warranty, until I looked closely at the stylus aperture and noticed this issue. I fixed it with a tiny spot of super glue on the magnetic strip and deft use of some plastic tweezers... saved days of re-programming a replacement.
Mr. Orange owes me a beer I reckon ;-)
Thanks for the reply...
The magnetic strip is there... I feel the magnet working...
but the diamond doesn't recognize when its in or out...
Anyone ?? Help - is it hardware or software ????
also a problem with the magnet strip
I own my diamond now for three weeks and something went wrong with the magnetstrip..it looks like it is still inplace but the magnetic force is stronger on the outside of the phone then on the inside (where its supposed to be) I'm trying to move te strip in the right position. but is not working.(seems like te strip is in the correct position)
It just happened. Really annoying..The phone goes on when I remove the stylus. (and the stylus is holding , but I don't get "the magnetic snap anymore"

i recently disassembled my tilt to find out if i could tighten the hinges because the hinge were loose but ended having problems with the keyboard. i hooked up the wire that connects from the keyboard to the motherboard. now the problem is that i could only use half of the character.
do you guys encounter this kind of problem? and did you guys fix it?
thanks

PM Mike, he will lead you in the right direction.

Buy a new keyboard with flex cable on ebay.
I replaced my tilt keybard (with silver keys) with the original all black keys.
The keys, the flex cable, the board ~ everything is one solid peace that's soldered and glued together, it's not removable (without damaging). The flex cable is actually sensitive and can break. If you try to mess with the keyboard, putting a lot of pressure on the silver part under they keyboard, or make a dent on the silver part under the keyboard (in the effort of trying to separate the keys and the board, which is impossible) ~ you might end up pressuring the flex board/wires and cause only half of the keys work and half doesn't, and the cap-lock and func light won't turn on.
Remember to get the keyboard with the whole frame and flex wires and not just the plastic keys by itself.
The whole black rim, flex cable/board and the silver bottom piece is all soldered together as one solid piece. The plastic keys are like sticker, lay on top of the board and flex.
(your board and flex seem broken anyway, but...)
If you only buy the keys without the whole board together, you will have to rip out the old plastic keys layer (because it's just a layer of sticker on top of everything) ~ do it carefully, or you might rip out the flex cables/board by accident.
Let me know if you want some pixs that I took when I replaced my keys.

Wad there possibly a alternative from getting a whole new board as i only replaced the screen mine.............
I had a similar problem when replacing the screen on my wife's Tilt recently. I took it apart a second time and put it together again very carefully, particularly with the small ribbon that connects to the motherboard, as I believe that is the ribbon that connects the keyboard to the motherboard.
Take a look at this video to see the part I am referring to: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=96iXd5jG2-U#t=2m45s

G1 keyboard not working

I have a HUGE problem My Physical Keyboard is acting up to the point where i had to unroot thinking it was going to fix it and now im stuck at the google signup stage without been able to press the letter P cause it types like 6 letters together..... i was on google all night last night looking for the solution and saw many other people having the exact same problem Heres what the keys do:
my P key presses pq8yt19d
my del key presses JHGL
my enter key presses amncs,x
my right side cap key presses / ~Z{
my back key presses u542i3
Can Any one help Me??????
Sounds like hardware issues. I experienced something similar with a G1 that had minor water damage. If the damage is due to liquid, attempt to rice-dry the phone. Worse case, open up the device and make sure the keyboard is able to make proper contact as needed.
Either way: This is a hardware issue.
i have the exact same issue.. i mean EXACT. my p and delete do the same things yours does. i found this thread by searching pq8yt19d... were you ever able to resolve it??
Hello Guys,
I have the very same issue, but I changed the housing plus keyboard recently.
I read on this forum sometimes twisting, shaking the house can cure it. So it is probably a loose connector problem. It is possible the phone was dropped or something end the connector got loose because of it...
I am sure this is a HW error and nothing to do with the ROM.
Csarlee
This is a hw issue that I fixed, the cable that goes from the keyboard to the circuit board comes loose easily. Tightening this cable ( make sure the little side tabs on the ribbon are up against the connector its going into, that will ensure its far enough in and located properly). The wires on this ribbon cable are very small and easily get off a little making the keyboard erratic or not work at all. Also run some alcohol on a q-tip over the keyboard to make sure its clean. You will be shocked how much crap comes off the keyboard especially if you smoke. Also make sure there is no liquid between the membrane covering the board and the buttons. The picture attached shows the cable in the small red circle. The link for disassembly is here formymobile.co.uk/googleg1disassembly.php

keyboard problem

my x1 return after 20 day of SE center for the change of e slide keyboard but i have the same problem...
the problem is: when i type with slide keyboard on a note, word or any other program this key want wart perfetc
when i type "s" write "sc"
"d" > "dv"
"f" > "fm"
"n" > go to the call menu
"a" > "a+space"
is that a problem with a rom? i use energy but i have change this rom and proved any 8 and the problem is the same...but sometime the kayboard go perfect without any problem.....is not hardware!
any idea?
Flash a stock ROM and see if you still have the problem..
What Energy ROM are you using? Tried asking this in the Energy ROM thread?
this is the 3rd ship to SE guarantee and the problem rest the same
with all rom, stock or not spl original or hardspl
but this is nota hw problem because often works perfect but other time....sucks...
return to SE is not resolving my problem....
idea?
I have an idea:
Try pushing the mini-USB port downwards ("down" meaning if the X1 was lying flat on a table). There is some odd connection between the mini-USB port and the volume key, and I suspect it might also be related to keyboard problems. I solved both problems by slipping a flat piece of plastic just above the mini-USB port to constantly push is down. I know it sounds crazy, but it has worked.

****ING CRAZY!!!!!!
you have right but.....wtf!!!!!!!
but WHY.....
I'm not sure why it works. But I am beginning to suspect that the problem (keyboard or volume button malfunction) occurs from overheating of the phone. I got a new X1, then used it as GPS in my car, and it got really hot. Then the volume button problem came back.
So did your X1 ever get very hot?
when i recharge with usb/pc after 30min the battery is VERY hot...
tomorrow i return to SE support...and for the 4°...
