Incoming Calls not Displaying Contact Name - XPERIA X1 ROM Development

Hi All. Just recently flash Touch-IT 10.4
Peculiar issue i didn't face before. When I get a call, the name/picture of the contact does not get displayed. Just the number.
But when I look at the call History. The name is there.
Wats up?

Tried looking/posting in the Touch-IT thread?
And isn't Touch-IT 10.31 the latest version?

Well there is a 10.4 posted in the latest pages.
But not on the first page.
I browsed through the latest pages. no one seems to be facing the same problem.
That's why i posted outside the thread. Maybe someone else faced the same problem with another ROM.....

if I remember rightly I've had a similar prob ;-) The problem was that incoming calls included country code and the numbers saved on my X1 consited only of the whole number resulting in being signed as unknown ones - Try adding country codes to your address book
kind regards
N0r0

darn. it was working fine before. without adding the country code. sigh. Gotta add the country code to each number? whoaaa.

I thought the same *g* But one rom I've tested [don't really know which one exactly] needed such country codes [I added it automatically with a lil script ;-) - don't worry]
regards

Thief's sim will send their location. is it Possible?

Hello fellows,
I was reading once on this same forum about a hidden plugin or cab software, which can send an anonymous txt message to a specified phone number in-case of theft.
e.g: if someone's pda has been stolen and that software was already installed on that PDA, then once the thief will put any workable sim then the PDA will automatically & anonymous send the thief's location or phone number to an already specified phone number.
Any ideas??
Sidd
Carty wrote an app that would do this.
I wrote one, VJAccioPhone, but didn't release it. It will send thief's phone number, and location if you've got an embedded GPS, although few phones do. It'll also do other stuff. It's not being released until I figure out one or two more WM5 specific things I want to implement. No specific date in mind.
There's also IIWPO. Check the wiki.
V
So is there any way to try Carty's application, where can I find that?
I am very sure that I have read a review exactly about this situation.
Sidd
The app in this link might be what you're after.

Cant paste telephone numbers on dialpad or dial from within e-mail calendar??

Anyone been able to work a fix for this? WM 6 would underline numbers in received e-mail, calendar etc etc one could dial the numbers directly from within the mail?
The paste function has also been removed from the dialpad
ROM 1.37.421.3
This thread has an interesting solution.

Surur
this is bugging me bigtime!
im going try change the phone skin to the old wm6 version with advanced config, seeing as the function was there before on older phones then it should work here too.
can someone provide a solution??
The same problem for me.
I realized that when you have the status opened (it opens while you are talking) in the menu you have the paste option... but it is useless.
I also want to paste some numbers in the phone to call them... it is very annoying not to have this option (sometimes I need to copy also some numbers from internet pages... but now it is impossible!!!).
Can someone help?!?
Thnx.
Urosh
Hi Surur,
Good one thx for the link, i think this was a serious oversight from MS, this is the one reason i would chuck the phone.
So far i have enjoyed the phone, i think it works well, but as i said its virtually useless if you cant paste numbers on the dialpad.
This limitation is really annoying me now; and still, a month down the line it's the only unforgivable problem I have with this otherwise fantastic little phone.
I was hoping it was a simple oversight, and would have been fixed by now. Has any of the later ROMs addressed the issue? If not, has anyone came up with a solution, or at least a realistic work around that doesn't involve pen and paper?
for over 3 years i am using a dialer "contact breeze".
the dialer himself is also of value but i am reinstalling it each time only for this tweak. long press anywhere in a meeting or task and it will offer any of the telephone numbers in it. no need of any other spaces, tlf:, etc. just type the number and it will be offered for dialing after a long press. the prog cost a few $. it worth it!
Thanks, sounds like a usable work around, I'll check it out.
Still hoping for a real solution though... Anyone?

Area code

Hopefully I'm posting this in the right forum...
I am looking for a program that would display the location of an incoming call (city and state) based off the area code of the call. Ideally the program would only do this if the number wasn't already in your contacts. This would help me determine if I should answer the call or not. I tried searching and the topic came up before but doesn't seem like there are currently any programs compatible with the fuze. I found this program but the site says it is not compatible: http://www.handango.com/catalog/ProductDetails.jsp?storeId=2218&productId=214025&_requestid=186476
Anyone know of a program like this?
cityid i think
City Id came installed on my Touch Pro and its exactly what it does. I dont have a cab since it came standard with my phone but a google search may do wonders

The cab in the first post of that page.

caller ID ??? wtf??

So I loaded a new rom (energyrom3.0) running WM 6.5.
and when i did my restore for all my contacts etc using pimbackup, i see my contacts list just fine. but when someone calls, i just see their number no name or anything!!
i restored again and still no caller id....
I did a search and im not finding any info on this.
can someone tell me what Im doing wrong??
(htc fuze running energy rom 3.0)
it sucks not knowing whos calling or texting me, now I have gotten into the habit of not answering my phone because of this issue...
I cant memorize all my contacts !
Thanks for any help
anyone seen this?
its probably some setting that I have not seen...
yep - im getting the same problem and raised a
separate thread - lots of views but no replies
i think its a wm6.5 issue.
im on energy rom - which is superb so far - but the callerid and sms id is causing me problems so i may have to revert to an older rom
I can't say that I've experienced this. (Running RRE's rom though) Have you tried install slide to unlock just for the full screen caller id that it has? (you can disable the actual locking part if you dont want it). Also, what dialer are you using?
I used active sync and outlook for my syncing and backing up my contacts and it all worked fine with nrg 3.0.
yea i have a buddy that uses outlook sync to restore.
how do i use that?
im using the stock dialer.
try s2u2 you say?
i ahve had it in the past, i will install that and see how it works. just so many dam options when setting it up. can be a bit time consuming...
thanks for the replies peeps
where are your contact pictures located? In the past, if you stored them on the Storage Card, then it could also cause a delay/issue. Just a thought for something to try.
yep - i also used pimbackup - and energy 3.0 - and im having the same problem.
wonder if its to do with the backup/restore rather than syncing

I think you should just memorize all of your names and numbers. Think how much more that would impress your friends than a fancy phone...
Try ActiveSync on the PC. If you are on Vista, you will need Windows Mobile Device Center, which unbeleivably does not auto-install with a new OS image. You can find it on Microsoft website for free, the same for ActiveSync if you are on XP. However, to use Activesync, you really need Outlook to get much value out of it. The huge upside is that if you use Outlook and ActiveSync, you will have a copy of all your contacts in 2 different physical locations.

it could very well be...
is this happening to anyone else??
i have fixed this - somehow ?!
removed icontact - and deleted the icontact 'contacts file'
did a new PIM backup - hard reset
when i looked at the texts they still had numbers not names, however i spotted that i had over 500 texts !!! cleared the lot of them out and everything working fine. callerID and text recognition perfect ....
Whether it was PIM backup, icontact or sheer volume of texts i dont know but what I can say is that its NOT the ROM.
im a happy bunny now
I am having the same problem, curently running At0mAng V5.1 WWE with WM 6.1. I did use PIM backup to restore, but to try to fix this problem I erased all of my contacts and restored them with Activesync. No luck, I suppose I should try a hard reset.

Yes really,.... If you hit the pwr button to off then back on, the callerID will be displayed. It's like a refresh of the lock screen. As for Energy Rom, I've been using Da_G's kitchen to cook since 21169 till 21222 and CallerID hasn't worked on the lock screen unless I do the pwr button trick.
I however have been using Exchange 2007 to sync my contacts in all versions though. Maybe it's something with that? I don't know...hopefully it will get resolved though.
Same prob here, I can tell u how to fix it..
Ive had the exact same problem with my stock Fuze. I checked HTC and even called them. Tried for nearly 3 hours on ATT talking with tech support. Yet these ppl only know whats written in their books. We, the ones that actually tweak and figure out the "bugs" in certain systems r the ones that know the answers. Thats why I love this site! .... sorry, got carried away. ... OK, ur most likely using the Advanced Config 3.3, if so, thats where the problem lies. If u go down to the "Phone" tweak inside of Advanced Config and set the "purge SIM contact when no SIM" Set this to YES. Now it DOES NOT delete the contacts as it says it should when u remove the SIM card and reboot. Instead it cuts off the NAME of ur caller ID yet still shows the number. Ive done about 12 master resets tryin to find the exact reason I kept losin my Caller ID name. This IS why. Though I have a different ROM, this just may be a bug that affects the entire system of any fone. Now my Caller ID works fine. When I install Advanced Config 3.3 and tweak it, the only things I change under the "Phone" catagory are Clean Period, cuz I like having all my calls in the dialer, and number of ID matches. Also when u install HD Tweak or Diamond Tweak do not set the ring to "Instant Ring". This will also cut the name of the Caller off. Yet u can change the "Ring Delay" to WITHOUT DELAY. This will solve the delay problem as well as the Caller ID disappearing act. I actually found that under another thread here. Both tweaks r set and my Caller ID has yet to cut off again. I may be wrong, yet it never hurts to try right? Good luck, hope this helps!
hi there,
also in advanced config is an option to use x digits as id.
i had the issue of it not recognnising contacts between 0 numbers and +44 numbers.
so i set this valuie to 10 digits then it doesnt matter about the zero or +44.
worth a shot.

Mine was set to Yes by default, should I set it to no? How about show Sim contacts in contacts? Very interesting though...
The only thing I save with PIM backup are my phone calls and messages. Therefore, I rely on Outlook to sync the remaining data such as contacts and appointments and I never have issues with any rom from any device using this method.

So does it work?
I successfully installed this on Arks 2.5 rom earlier today and I haven't noticed any change.
If you are using Manila2.5, the fix is here:
http://thewingster.com/mmsfixm25.aspx
However, another issue that seems to be left unresolved, is how long the messaging client takes to open the conversation history for that contact.
If you have no history, or very little, it loads relatively quickly.
But if you're like me and don't delete messages often, then it takes forever for all the messaging history to load and let you start typing a reply, or scroll through the messages of the selected contact.
I'm not much of a programmer, so I'm not sure how to go about even trying to resolve this, but some of the problems I see is that it tries to load the entire history of the conversation.
The native WM Client with conversation flow displays only the past few messages sent and received, until you select older, and then it displays the next chunk of messages in the conversation.
If someone could add this feature, maybe with a setting so you could set the number of messages you would like to view per page, I think that could really speed up the app.
I'm convinced this is not fixed but it does seem a little 'better' as it hasn't happened as often.
This is even after rom upgrade 1.48.405.2 (UK unbranded version) and all the other hotfixes (don't really apply but worth mentioning.
