Soulife Rogers ported to Ion - G1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I love the Soulife Rogers latest build but i hate all the blue. So I tried out the Ion. very similar but it doesnt have a few things like the VK and email app among others. Is there a way to port those from his Rogers build into the Ion one? If so what would be the steps?

the closest thing i can think of that would be considered based of the htc magic in a way would be the jacmytouchski rom. but then again its not really a htc magic rom.

Do you mean haykuro 6.0r1? Rogers ROMs have all the same features. You can find a list of Rogers ROMs in the ROM database.
I think he might be talking about a google ion rom, why would you want that, use a cyanogen rom, those roms performance been done out perform the old ion roms

Cyanogen & ION don't have HTC Contacts, Haykuro6.0 and Rogers do.
Sorry adrian I don't play with roger's rom so I am unfamiliar with htc contacts, is it really worth having it for having an outdated rom, sorry but I am a sucker for performance and not prettiness or features. If I could I drive around with a fast car that looks like ****, have one seat and be extremely uncomfortable, just gotta have a radio don't care if it a walkman but I would drive that car everyday

I'm the same way, and that's why I don't use Rogers ROMs ;-)
It's really not worth it considering Cyan's ROMs are based on the google source and have all the same features apart from Htc Contacts.

HTC People App in Vanilla Rom

Is it possible to put the HTC People app and some of the other apps like the HTC Dialer and the HTC Calender in a Vanilla Rom. The HTC Calculator app was easy to put in. All I had to do was to move over the apk. The other HTC apps seem to be a little harder. What files do I need to move over sot the People app works in a Vanilla Rom. By the way, the rom is a 2.2 Rom for the HTC Hero. If I can get the HTC apps to work, I might end up making a 2.2 Vanilla Rom that people can download that has the HTC apps.
Obviously you're talking of Darch's AOSP 2.2 ROM. None of the HTC apps can run w/o the HTC framework. So, the answer to your question is no. However, download the app 'Dialer One'.. It's somewhat like HTC's dialer.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=650
start there
Mdawg's Ic3Rom is a vanilla/AOSP ROM that has a couple Sense items in it, like the People and Dialer. Really it's an HTC/Sprint-based ROM that has most of the HTC Sense stuff stripped out. But some of HTC is still there. It is no longer under development though, so the latest version listed there is the last one.
I liked this ROM and used it for a while as my daily (version 2.8).
Here's the thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=663366
One final side note: Please post questions like this in the appropriate forum from now on. Since it was a question and had little or nothing to do with ROM development, this one probably should have gone in "Q&A". Thanks.
Let me know if you try out Ic3Rom and if so, how you like it. I'd be happy to answer other questions you may have about it.
What about taking some of the HTC frameworks and moving them to the Vanilla ROM? Or what about combining the frameworks with the Vanilla frameworks?

Where did he say Darch's AOSP Rom??? There are 3-4 good/decent Vanilla Rom's here. Yes, they will work if you move everything in the framework folder that says htc in it. However, like Mrcharlesiv said though, i don't think it will work with Darch's even doing it. Also, one more note, if your ROM is JIT enabled htc sense doesn't mix with JIT.
One final note: what's with all the thread Nazi's? Just sayin...
Moved as not Development.
Doesn't everything but HTC Sense launcher and the HTC Lockscreen work with JIT?

[Q] By now, which built is the most stable?

Hi,
I am using WM nfsfan's for years and i'm happy to see your community developping android for my old vogue!
I wanted to install the incubus26jc's froyo built on it but i see there is other releases of android os that have been made.
If I want an android OS that is working great with usb tethering, google market, mms, email, camera and gps which built should I choose?
Have you tried those ?
My Super FroYo Build
My Tattoo Donut Build
My Super Eclair 2.1 Build
My Super Hero Build
Thanks, hope you will be able to give me some hints
Christian
at this point i think everyone is running incubus 2.2 froyo rom, or at least most are recommending it....
had some others suggest this cyanogen mod here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=746909
but it doesn't appear to be as up to date as the incubus rom
well what network are you on, sprint is the only one that has MMS working for Sending and Receiving
personally i always liked the cyanogen mod builds, but for a build with everything working, Hawk-SOAD/ zenulators ION Donut build is a good one
Hi,
I am on bell mobility
this cyanogen is not for the kayser? I am on a vogue
im still going to reccomend the Hawks-SOAD/ Zenulator build
it might only be a donut build but it has a few advantages,
1. its camera and video camera are both working, in eclair and froyo only the camera is working.
2. its a very clean build, your not going to find too many extra apps
3. it has the Android APN instead of the T-mobile APN so if your on a CDMA network you can easily set up MMS for your carrier
Warm donut is a themed version of that build.
if your looking for the Bleeding Edge for vogue Dev
incubus' Super Froyo releases are awesome, there are a few issues they are attempting to sort out like the device freezing on system resume. Fresh Froyo is built off the same tree but there are no google apps.
cyanogen mod 6 ports are still froyo, and have a few of the same issues
both of these are stable for Daily use though
Vanjilla eclair is my Eclair build of choice,
its clean and fast but again no camcorder.
sense/ hero builds are nice but the have to be put on a EXT2 partition of your card for 2.1 builds, the tattoo sense has been known to have a short battery life and none of the hero/sense builds have Bluetooth. They also are very heavy on the system so they might not always be the snappiest
I also vote for VaniljEclair RLS11. I think the current FROYO build still has too many features not working or not working properly. See a list of issues in this forum. Eclair is also faster (I am using polaris)

I'll also vote for the Soad/Zenulator build. It's the only build here that would give you the kind of speed and stability that the original WinMo build had. The only downside to this build is the unavailability of some apps.
My second pick is also Vanjilla Eclair (Although I prefer version 9). Very stable, but a step slower in speed. Has most/all of the apps, though.
The Froyo build are just not there, yet. Too many lockups.

Thanks for the excellent recap of different builds and releases. I know all the cooks and developers work their butts off giving us new life for our Vogues etc.
I am almost ready to flash to Nand, still trying to decide which build.
Ive tried em all and VaniljEclair RLS11 is the most stable "recent" build by far.
Incubus26Jc's Super FroYo 2.2 is awesome if looking for a FroYo build.
I've tried just about everything. You didn't mention phone in your list of requirements. If you need reliable calls (incoming, outgoing, sms), then I would recommend Myn's Warm Donut. Every other Eclair and Froyo build has led to daily freezes and lock-ups for me.
If you don't use your phone that much, then inc's SuperFroyo is a very nice build. (RLS 10.5 was great...RLS 12 worked pretty well too).
I had various problems with SuperEclair and WarmEclair. Never really tried VanilljEclair...I know that others like it. I never really had the time to build it up with the various apps and features (like calibration, etc.) Not hard to do, just takes time.
Myn's Warm Donut is incredibly fast and stable. I miss some of the newer features and elements of Froyo, but for daily use I feel like Warm Donut works best with these older devices. (Froyo and Eclair are pushing the envelope, IMHO.)
I'd also suggest running in NoMoRootFS...using Haret off of the SD (with 2x ext2 partitions) before flashing to NAND. It would give you time to play around with the various builds. They all have their own personality...it's pretty cool, and fun to try out. There's no one size fits all. That's the beauty of an open development forum like this.
Have fun...well worth it. No matter which Android build you pick, you'll never go back to WM.

Note, on the Vogue, as far as I can tell, both RLS2 and RLS3 of the Hawks-SOAD / Zenulator build do not have working video recording, I tested both this weekend. However, it does not force close on the camcorder, just doesn't do anything other than frustrate.

i thought that at first too but you have to use the 2-07-2010 .nbh and then they work fine
I am almost ready to Flash Android to Nand, but I can not make up my mind which build/version? I am leaning towards Cyanogen, SOAD Ion?, or Vanillaeclair.
Any suggestions at all?
One is which almost all functions are stable and working.
Just a note phantom4ever2, I am not sure if these builds have Stealth tethering like nfsfans in the wm roms. So you might want to find out first. i believe there was someone in calgary on bell that was charged something like $60,000 for using it for bittorrent or something. Nfsfan did have good touch roms though.

i started w/ incubus froyo - lots of lag was my experience
then tried soad ion and it was damn fast, but i wanted "at least a 2.1" version of android (so i thought) and i installed vanillaeclair - faster, but still some lag.
think i'm going to bite bullet and just go back to either warm donut or soad ion for this phone. just seems like 1.6 is where its at for our device.
cheers
btw, it took me -forever- of reading threads, refreshing threads waiting for updates to roms, etc before i finally installed android via nand.
once you do it you'll see it actually is nothing at all and actually quite easy!
as i have used all the previous builds, i believe the guys working on froyo have the finest product thus far. despite other user issues, i have never had a problem with messages and issues i have run into have been dealt with and resolved in a very timely manor.
good luck

Thank you for your input cyburke.
Yes, I have been trying everything via Haret, although I think that some of the issues using haret may disappear if I flash to nand (camera, etc)
I haven't played with Fresh Froyo at all though. Or Ion release
I am concerned though, as someone posted that perhaps these do not have 'Stealth' tethering, I would hate for Bell to come and take my house LOL

[Q] I need TW Calendar update for Rooted SGS Vibrant

I've rooted my phone to Bionix 1.3.1 and am loving it. The speed and crispness is everything I was looking for. There is one issue however and that is the outdated TW calendar. It culminates entries and does not have hyperlinks, just like the original Eclair. When I updated stock to Froyo, these were corrected.
I rooted to Bioix 1.3.1 and it is AWESOME, but iT SEEMS TO HAVE THE Eclair calendar. How do I install the most current TW calendar? I use my calendar probably more than anything else and need these features. If there is no easy way, what us the best ROM to get? Out must be quick, and it has to be stable.
THANKS!!
You need tw calendar???
Why not try the Questions section of the forums?
Im not sure any androids are gonna develop it for you here

[Q] absolute best roms for the g1!

i know there are many threads out there on this but i have both answers and questions to put out there and i wanted to start fresh.
so first of all for our slow little G1s we need the most up to date radio/spl which you can get here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=831139
there are a lots of favorites out there so here are mine
1.6 - superCSDI (thanks [email protected])
2.1 - super e (thanks benbuchacher)
2.2 - froyobylaszlo (thanks laszlo)
2.3 - ezgingerbread (thanks ezterry)
sense roms... not my favorite so ill let someone else answer that
ok so we have rooted our phones, updated the radio/spl, and we have tried everything in the rom bible (thanks RoyalKnight i wish you still updated this) and just about every other rom we can get our hands on, yes we are nerds, yes we are nostalgic (or poor) since we still use the g1, but what can we use day in and out?
so i have been playing with some old roms again, namely superE, and i must say with the 2708+ and an updated launcher it really can come back to life to be a daily use rom (again). still i miss some of the sparkle in the newer froyo and gingerbread (power control widget in notification bar, newer apps, etc) but it is clean and has a bit less lagginess than these newer ones.
maybe its just me but i want some thoughtful thoughts on this, what is best for those of us who like speed and flare?
oh and please give a little more info than just the name of the rom, why is it the best and what are the optimal settings so others can try and see if they agree, thanks!
(sorry for making this sound like it should be posted on blogger)
Nonsense is a very nice cupcake (1.5) rom
One of the fastest
And has a nice htc ime that's lighting speed
The dialer is also lightning speed
It doesn't really need much setup
I used it with a regular cm6 left over radio/spl setup
I had like 96mb swap
But I don't remember if it supports ext or not

forgive the necromancy, but I HAVE to chime in.
I have only had a G1, no other phone. I have had one for 3+ years. All that time I have only tried HTCclay's Superfast. a few variations of SuperCSDIv4 (90% of my use) and now Superbler with RAM hack.
I have yet to see a downside moving from Donut based SuperCSDIv4 to Froyo based Superbler. Not even speed is an issue. I really recommend you check this ROM out!
i remember that rom, but i dont remember liking it too much... so upon your recommendation and necromancy, i tried looking it up - found the rom (version4) but i cant find any of the themes that were to go with it, at least not the theme links
ill try out the rom again either way but do you know where i can find a good link to the theme?
The Themes by DorianX for ICS are awesome, they are for FBL too, you can just flash it over your FBL ROM and you have a beautiful theme installed on your chubby, ugly G1
I don't know about themes. It came themed well enough for me. I love this ROM.
Alright. Update. My new favs
1.5 - Nonsense Cupcake Revolution
1.6 - Donut By Laszlo
2.1 - *shrug* idk yet.
2.2 - FroyoCreamSandwich
2.3 - CM7
Sense - Liberty and of course the old 1.5 sense ROMs
Right now I am LOVING donutbylaszlo. I've installed so much junk on it and it still doesn't lag.

I love 2.3.7 CronMod
