Since it is an insurance claim you can just say that you lost the phone and never send it back. YOu could also make it physically unusable. With insurance it doesn't matter what you did to violate the warranty

Imei changing

I wanted to know if imei changing is il-legal in the us? I traded a phone with some one and he told me he is changing the imei for some reason to save money for the phone plan…so if anything wrong happenes with the phone…would that be my problem…or is it the persons problem who changed the imei

what i meant was...after he changes the imei...the phone bricks or something...then am i supposed to take the phone back and cancel the trade
Well after you have traded the phone becomes solely your responsibility unless he puts it in writing some sort of warranty. So you would have to send it back to the manufacturer or try and repair it your self.
If you send it to the manufacture it's likely that the change in IMEI number will be found out and they will probably seize the phone and may investigate.

There's no clear cut answer. If you buy a phone a brick it, it's your problem. He can't force you to trade back and if he bricks it it's his problem. So as long as you've traded for the phone you want it does matter what he does.

sorry but "it does matter what he does" or "doesnt matter what he does" ..im a bit confused...personally i dont think you have to trade it back...its like me trading phones , spoiling it and asking for a trade back because i ruined the phone...
maybe you should just find someone else to trade/ buy from.

If I gave some effort I'd find that facepalm picture.
Why do n00bs root their phone?!?!?! JESUS!
Maybe you should have researched what you were going to get yourself into before you rooted your device, there is no way to complete 'unroot' the phone at all. I don't believe google will have the ability to flash the firmware that allows it to go back to stock, so if they're 'nice' they'll have to send it to HTC.
You're **** out of luck, next time research and now you'll have to enjoy your Nexus One. Might I ask, why don't you like it anymore?

You have completely undoubtedly altered the phone beyond typical repair by Google's end, they will need to invest money in order to have HTC relock the phone. There is no way to 'relock' your bootloader, which is where you voided your warranty. I would not waste their time or your own money in trying to send the phone back rooted in order to obtain a refund

You're getting a new phone for the $130 deductible... and you don't send your broken one in. You keep it too... Hold on to it and see if you can get a replacement LCD to fix it and sell it later.

Really? I was under the impression you had to send it in by the way the Tmob rep explained it. I've been wondering about that for a while, how it would work in case of theft or something like that. Good information to know

Ok, to put it simply my phone has this problem...

is there anyways this can be fixed? I mean I'm willing to tear this phone apart. Like changing the motherboard and all that. Anything.

I had that problem and ATT changed out my phone. Since then it has run perfectly. You don't mention what OS you are on but failing with ATT my only suggestion is at least get to some version of 2.3
I run Legend 4 with Corn 7.06 with no problems. If it still shuts down at least you'll be doing with a nicer ROM!

This is what I get for buying a phone off of eBay. I usually never buy from eBay for this exact reason. I am so stupid.
I guess I could try flashing a different ROM, I currently have the Dark Knight ICS ROM but to be honest I don't think it will help. Thank you though for your reply.
Try checking with Samsung. A 10 minute call on a device I bought off of ebay got me a prepaid shipping label to return it under warranty. Since that is a known issue, they may fix it out of warranty also.

Yep. If they're willing to fix it (probably just replace it) then you will need to return it to stock.

AT&T Warranty Replacement Condition

For those of you who have gone through the AT&T Warranty Replacement process, what condition did your refurbished phone come in?
I'm asking because I just received a replacement request and there are a bunch of scratches on the screen. I thought refurbished meant "like new" quality but just wanted to ask the others on the board to see what your experience was.
Thanks in advance.

I've received replacements device's a few times. Every time I received one its in mint condition. I never saw even the tiniest of scratches anywhere on the device. You should definitely call the warranty department and let them know you want another device and explain to them why you are making the request.

Yep I just got a Galaxy S 4 Active warranty refurb. It looks brand new.
That reminds me, I need to mail the old one off.

Flawless condition. However, I only received the main phone: no battery, back or stylus. (I'm assuming that's normal)

My replacement was brand new. It came in a sealed box and the phone had the plastic on it and everything. I don't know if you have a deductible, but mine was $200 and for $200 I'd better get a brand new phone...
I loved the feeling and sound of pulling the screen protector off of a new phone.
I got 2 replacements phones the first one was in a box and in immaculate condition but had an issue with ram partition, they sent me a second phone that was wrapped up in plastic and had a couple of fine scratches on the screen.

Refurbished phones should typically be in like-new condition. There should not be any scratches on it. Return it.
Thanks everyone. That's what I pretty much figured.
Called AT&T and complained. Another refurbished one is in the mail. Hopefully this one is in better condition.

Yes, I was able to root my replacement phone using TowelRoot and also install SS, just to make sure.
I'll have to Odin back to stock though before I send it back for the other replacement without scratches.

I could be wrong but I believe you can use @designgears one-click method:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2619941
Or worst case scenario, just take it to Best Buy Samsung Center and have them do restore the phone for you.

The link you posted is to the leaked software ending with MLG. That is not official software and if any warranty department checks this you would instantly be voided.
Best buy would be your only hope.

You can restore your nandroid backup to the stock slot. Remove any apps requiring root access. Remove safestrap, then un-root.

I spoke to my local Best Buy store associate yesterday and he said they'll do it if the phone was purchased there.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium
Went to the Bestbuy store and the Samsung reps helped me reflash to the stock firmware. No questions asked. I handed her the phone and she plugged it to her pc and flashed it without checking anything on my phone. Flashed only took like 5 minutes. I'm back to stock.

LG G4 LS991 stuck in BOOTLOOP

I've done my research and it seems to be a recurring problem with LG G4s. A few reviewers are posting that the ZBV files that's available does not work anymore.
Any way files out I can download to hard reset the phone to get it working again or could someone shed some light on what I might be able to do?

Lgs waranty. Is about the only soulution. Theres a site somewhere u can check the warranty validity by iemi i dont know the site off top of my head. But its a known issue lg should still fix it.
Its a hardware issue. U might try some of the fixxes with placing objects behid the prossessor. But will void waranty if any.
Thank you so much. I'll be sure to contact my carrier and let them know what the issue is.

more than likely youll go through lg straight
if u have a post paid carrier and insuarance theyll try to get u to file a claim. dont let em.
you have to talk to lg straight and send it to lgs warranty center. not throught carrier.
if im not mistaken lg also extended the 1 year warranty on it by so much because of said issue.
i dont know how much.
or if its true as i voided my warranty rite after purchase with the thermal paste mod
plus 3 screen repairs
So my G4 started bootlooping a few days ago.
I called around and tried to find out if it was covered under a warranty but I bought it used over a year ago.
I was able to find out that my local sprint repair center would swap it out for me for free!!
I do not have protection plan on any of my phones, but it doesn't matter with this phone Sprint is replacing them for everyone.
It takes a few days to get the replacement.
