Hi all, i got a Kaiser, ATT model, 2 month ago i has been using the device as pocket pc only and was working perfect, now i use as phone with the carrier "CLARO" from Chile... well this its drive me to crazy... when the phone function its on, the device its very sticky, i use it fro 3 or 5 min and then freeze for 30 seconds, some times i just wake up it from sleep and freeze, some times start freezing 15 second every 2 seconds... when i say freeze i mean its dosnt respond from any imput (Screen, Hardkeys, Keyboard, Power)... i was testing kaiser radios like 1.65.xx, 1.70.xx, 1.71.xx and niki, etc. without luck... i hide sim contacts too, i set manual search for networks, i try with automatic too and disable the other country networks that i found on the sim, i switch between GSM and 3g, i even change my custom ROM...
Well i think i am not hte only one in the world with this problem, long time ago i see a guy with a ipaq 6940, WM 5.0, i see the device working and freeze a lot too with the same way, even in XDA i read post responses talking about this, i think the problem its related to the reception, some times when i am on home work very nice, but when i go to the center of my city and enter to mall, the device start freeze a lot, on my girlfriend house too (its a solid structure, my its make in wood lol)...
so, i am very tired of this, its getty a pain to use the device, any one has some similar problem? i think the windows reg can be tweaked for disable some parameters of phone and cause problem, maybe a way to tell the phone "when the signal its low, just lost it", in other post (i dont remeber the link, so please if anyone know it plz post it here) i read that there a reg key to set the priority or some like that the carrier give to the phone (in numbers)... well any info its welcome!!!!!
Regards and thanks!
no body has same or similar issue????

OK
had the touch diamond about 5 days ago. (no network) stuck my orange sim in it from my e650
In that 5 days it has twice failed to come out of standby. Nothing will get it to come alive apart from taking out the battery. Bit of a problem because i use it for alarm clock in morning.
The only things ive done to it so far are
Installed PHM reg editor
Installed PHM soft reset
Installed cab file to get rid of sms threading/conversation
Installed cab file to enable delivery notifications for SMS
Carried out reg hack to not show sim contacts (although thats now reset due to the battery coming out (I think))
Anyone else had this problem and got a fix? I tried pressing the standby/off button, holding the standby/off button pulling out the stylus etc
Hope I havent got dud hardware
Cheers

same problem here with my mda compact IV from T-Mobile, just have the phone for 2 day's now, and it's 8/10 times now it would not come out his standby mode.
first thing i did when i got my MDA, is flashed it to A.Z.T.O.R. V7 Black Diamond Touch Edition.
So I'm kicking this thread up, hoping for some kind of solution of idea!?!?
hello,
thats not normal. use orig. rom from provider and check it again.
if the same than back to seller.
use reset to start the device again and not the battary put out/in.
iam not expert so see this answer only as a proposing.

Still not very happy with my phone so I might send it back to be checked.
i found another thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=436000&highlight=standby+freeze
I've had this exact problem, but the reset button on the back does work when this happens. I'm in the US on T-Mobile in NYC using a European Diamond. I work in a building that has very weak T-Mobile coverage and I've found that I only get the problem when I am at work. On the weekends and at night, the problem never happens because I am usually in an area that has either no coverage or good coverage. I have not eliminated the problem, but I have discovered that setting the network type to "GSM" and the band to "UMTS(850+1900)GSM(850+1900)" reduces the incidence of the problem for me to once every few days. I'd love to hear a good solution to the problem as well.

I have the same problem only at my work where I get almost no signal.
before my diamond a had a HTC Elf with the same problem only at my work, this phone is switched for a diamond with the same problem now.
I updated radio now, see what happends
The radio is updated to V. v1.00.25.05
i have much better signal now, and no problems at all.
I had the Standby of Death SOD this is when the phone fails to come out of standby with a power button press. This issue only affects some people on some networks. I'm not sure if its a network problem or a software problem but as only a minority of people have it, I suspect its mainly a network problem there is a software solution.
The solution is to change the phone settings band option from auto 3G/2G to either 3G Only (WCDMA + UTMS 2100 in Europe) or 2G Only (GSM + AUTO) depending on your requirements.
Also read this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=540943&highlight=standby&page=2where the resolution was to get a new SIM.
Obviously this only solves the problem when the crash is because of the sim and/or settings which impact the sim. To rule out a software cause its best to start with a hard reset.
Hi there,
For some time now I these weird symptoms if I place my Kaiser in my backpack next to my Blackberry...
- It won't come back when pressing the power button
- But status LED is still blinking the usual way
- Trying to call it will just reach the voicemail
> Doing a soft-reset is the only way to use it again.
I tried different ROMs (initially 6.0, and now 6.1)
Any idea or comments?
Thanks
Anyone with an idea on how to log what was happening until it "freeze"?
I'm not savvy, but I think this is called the Stand-By of Death (SoD).
Here's a thread with some details:

Replace your device if under warrenty!!! I had to 5 times since Feb. Good luck!
i dont think there is anything wrong with your kaiser
i noticed that my artemis was getting exactly the same symptoms when my brother was placing it near play station 3... so i assume its something to do with electro-magnetic physics
you may however want a technician to look to your phone - to stop the doubts
I'm a bit scarred with repair guys...
Usually they give a refurb model (and not as "nice" as mine)
i agree with you - i dont like taking my new toys to repairs i always get the paranoia against them
dude ur phone is well - i experienced this in the past with several phones... keep an open eye if it happened in another situation that does not involve another device - then its time to call the bad repair guys

Yeah, it's really a weird thing ...
Problem is I have to keep both device in my backpack (BB8820 work device, and TyTN II personal device)
The most weird point is that the Kaiser was able to work smoothly for months in the same situation... Don't know if it's since I install the HardSPL, or a different radio than the stock one (WM6.0 versions)

Ive had my tytn 2 for a little over a month now, and I've noticed something when I'm using the phone for heavy texting. After a while, the phone will more or less freeze. The chime stops sounding for a new text, however, the phone continues to operate, and will recieve calls. Also, when the alert stops sounding, if I close the text messaging and return to the today screen, the screen is all scrambled. I have done a few hard resets now to try and clear the problem. I am going to be unable to return the phone to the place I bought it from, as we had a disagreement over the last phone I purchased through them(long story). The touch screen still works on the today screen, and if you know where to push, it will still open programs, just everything looks like snow....
Now, I have WM 6.1 on it(factory rom) ROM version 3.29.422.1 WWE, the ROM date is 05/20/08. The radio version is 1.70.18.02. The phone is used on a T-mobile affiliate(IWireless) network. The techs there are idiots, and I don't think they could dial with this let alone tell me how to fix it....
My previous phone was a T-mobile MDA, which I did love. I know about using different ROMS, Im just not sure how/which one to use on my TYTN 2. HELP ME PLEASE!
anybody have this problem too? it is getting incredibly irritating. I called tech support last night, and the people that I talked to had no idea what I was even talking about. It almost seems as if there is a lag in the programs. I occasionaly get a screen that is telling me that tmail.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. i let it send the error report, but the text program stays open.
Any help would be appreciated!
have you tried to reflash to the factory rom?
Can you warranty it with HTC?
Sounds like a harware problem -- specifically the cable that connects the keyboard is either loosly connected or damaged.
Try to get service directly through HTC -- but if you can't you might want to open it up and see if the cable is seated properly
im not sure it it is a hardware problem, as the phone will go skitzo on me even if I open the keyboard and leave it open. it usually would only do it when im texting, but it did it today, when the phone was on silent, I switched it back to on, and read a text message(did not open it), and when I tried to close the text and return to the today screen, it froze up again, and I had to do a soft reset. im really thinking its a software issue...
I would try to reflash, I had a ROM on mine that had the same problem, I did a reflash and never had the problem again.
Is there any way that I can do the reflash and still have the pre-loaded settings from my carrier? I'm thinking that I can't, but is there a place that I can be pointed to to get a copy of how to do the re-flash? It's got WM 6.1 Professional on it, and it is a branded copy(maybe part of the problem?). Obviously, I need to take some time to write down all of the settings for internet and such...
Are you talking about the network settings or something else? Most ROM's have a connection wizard that will setup network and MMS settings.
mostly the settings for the mms messages, and the internet settings. when I flashed a new rom to my mda, I had to manually put them in, the auto wizards wouldn't work.
Hi guys, I am posting here just to solve one issue of my father's diamond.
I have one raphael, my father got a diamond, and it is different on provider informations.
My raphael automatically detects the provider's configuration, installing it on connections, I tryied it with my father's diamond, and his diamond doesnt take the provider's information, I dont know why. So, I have just configured it by my hand manually, using the necessary informations, all ok, it worked fine, he can work on internet, but the problem is that all times he power on his phone, come the warning that is trying to take provider's information, and automatically goes to the connections on settings tab, its a warning, I think that the cell phone doesnt detect that it is manually typed, and try again with a global icon on hardware's tasks.
Once I have already configured it, I would like to KILL this warning, he is a big disapointed with it, that appears sometimes.
Thanks for now
Hi....first of all...I am not an expert! I think the solution might be to go to 1) Settings......2)Connections and click on the connection setup symbol, (if you have it) this should set it up for you.....hope this helps
It the PDA goes automatically, but always repeat when i power on the phone
the last answer:flash the other rom
I will find it, but I dont know if I is easy to locate the portuguese rom as it is installed on his fone
hi all i have a attt tilt with my own custom rom based in the original htc kaiser spanish rom and the radio 1.71.09 o what ever how it is... i never used this device as phone until one month ago (i change my phone and operator), well when i was using the device as pocket pc never show a problem, but when i install the sim from my new operator Claro Chile, the problem starts, the device some times stuck, its sticky, almost all time it related to the phone part, i mean phone contacts, gprs-edge-3g-h, phone dialer, write text messages (its painfull keyboard eat 50% of the letters)... i can say that happen 95% with the phone things...
any ideas? maybe my brand new sim its not working fine? i set the network to manual, picked ClaroCHL (here are 3 ones, Claro, Movistar, Entel) and even disable otherones that appear in the chip like Claro Brazil, Claro Argentina (i suppose that are for roaming)....
Regards!
I'm not sure what's wrong because I don't know how bad the delays are. On my phone, I had delays too. It seems doubtful that the delays you experience are related to a SIM card: they rather seem to be caused by the standard phone software's being slow in itself.
- Delays in simply calling and finding contacts in your lists might be solved by installing a different program to handle this. Resco Contact Manager, for example, is very fast on my phone. The standard HTC phone program sucks, the one that came with PDACorner's ROM was quite slow as well on my phone.
- The keyboard's eating letters depends on the repeat rate and first repeat values in your phone's registry. They can be altered by going to settings, buttons, up-down buttons (I think that's where it was; I remember it was a funny location). There are many threads on this; find them through Google. They have advice on proper values.
- Sometimes my phone takes a very long time (and I mean 30sec+) to open text messages or e-mail; I haven't been able to fix this. It is weird, as it opens them instantly at other times.
hi there!, my kaiser dosnt have delays, got coma states xDDDD, its dosnt respond the screen and the imput for like 2 minutes, its seems to be related to the Claro signal, i am using GSM to disable 3G/H for the battery life and maybe sometimes the radio cant find a good setup for that and start sucking... i gonna do some tweaks on my rom (or remove some of my tweaks), and start using the phone with 3G, about the keyboard i got working perfect, just when i wrote sms its faild due sms its a program that use the cell phone part, regards!
Ah okay, those freezes sound really weird, I have never experienced anything like that on my phone, but I am far from an expert. I have used different ROMs, and my phone sometimes can't find signals, keeps searching for a long time et cetera - but it never stops responding. Good luck with that... by the way, it seems a waste of your phone's capabilities to not use 3G! I'd rather buy a 1600 mAh than not use 3G. Or even carry a spare battery with me.
