I got a new phone and want to put the stock OS back on my Cingular 8125 but without downgrading the IPL, SPL, or radio versions (all v3.xx). I would like the rom to contain the original splash screens and OS however.
Can anyone provide such a rom or tell me how to create one. Thanks.
Extract the stock rom you want, remove the parts from the rom you don't want and rebuild it again. Use this kitchen to extract and rebuild, also read the threat very carefull

I want to keep all the O2 stuffs intact, is it possible to update only the CE and Radio ROM but not the extended ROM? I know the procedures I think, and I just need to delete ms_.nbf before running BaUpgradeUt? Will my O2 extended ROM stays intact this way?
How much better is 1.06.2 Radio ROM better than 1.02? Is it worth the update?
And after the update, I should just restore DATA but not full restore right?? Also, do I have to disable ActiveSyn before the update? If so, how?
Sorry about so many questions
Think ur ext rom will be blank this way
CL55
My answer to your question would be
Unhide the extened rom as is
unlock extenedrom as is now
make a copy of it as in on your desktop
do the normal upgrade
unlock/unhide the new extended rom
delete the content
copy from the destop your old extenedrom
lock/hide the exteneded rom again
do a cold reset.
this will boot the device, reinstall the os and radio and install the old extenedrom.
Do I think that that is a good idea, NO!! but that is what you want to do.
You need to undersatnd that some of the stuff on extened rom is for the new upgrade such as the patches.
So ... not that you asked ... I think what you want to do is swap only some of the files. but do you know which ones?
Read the bit on unllocking the Imate extenede rom
Read the bit about changing boot imaages.
Think about what you realy wont to do and have fun.

but it's not true. I've done that and your Extended ROM is not deleted
so:
1. You chose the ROM you want to use it (and you use xda3nbftool.exe if the ROM comes from another operator than yours)
2. Before launching the ROM installer "BaUpgradeUt.exe", you remove the Extended ROM package which is call "ms_.nbf"
and you update your ROM normally
Only the CE ROM and Radio will be upgraded. Your Blue Angel will keep your old Extended ROM.
And remember: If the ROM you have chosen comes in a package like BA_WWE_BelDT_12200_557_10602_SHIP.exe, you can open the ifile with WinRAR to extract its contents.

Now a real qestion for you based on you own knowleage.
Is there any way to add a Romkitchen Exteneded rom to the upgrade?
We seem to have know tools for this er2003edit does not work for me on the blueangle.
I have not been able to find any way of extracting splash screens but am able to replacing then (which is great but I dont have the original splashes)
Things are not only you know, your ways are not always the best.
Hi... I have a Tmobile MDA (HTC Wizard) phone with the latest MDA ROM (2.26.10.2) on it.
What I would like to know is if I can download the Tmobile Wing (HTC Herald) ROM from Tmobile website and flash it to my MDA? Would it work or brick my MDA? Would I need to do CID unlock before loading the Wing ROM?
I checked and I have a G4 MDA. Hardware-wise both the phones are similar.... I would like to have WM6 on my MDA without having to go thru the flashing process.
Appreciate your help.
does anyone have any idea?
Search under the Windows Mobile 6 subforum for "boring ROM"....
Last line of original post-"I checked and I have a G4 MDA. Hardware-wise both the phones are similar.... I would like to have WM6 on my MDA without having to go thru the flashing process.", yes...they are similiar, but NOT the same! The Wings ROM WILL brick your MDA, ESPECIALLY since it is a G4. We have plenty of WM6 and WM6.1 ROMs here for your enjoyment. And about the wanting to upgrade without flashing...well, that is not possible! You HAVE to flash a new ROM in order to upgrade to a new version of Windows Mobile.
Thanks @ashasaur. I understand that I need to flash the ROM which will erase everything on the phone and load the new OS. I went thru some stickies and found out the process and have seen some G4 safe ROM version like TNT/Slim/BlackDiamond on the forums... would try them out.
One last question... incase if I have to revert to original WM5 Tmobile ROM... can I do that ? If so how ?
If you wanted to revert to the factory WM5 ROM not going to be a problem. You can go to T-Mobile's website and download the 2.26/2.26/WM5 ROM. It is the latest official T-Mobile ROM upgrade available for the Wizard. Here is it: http://www.t-mobile.com/wmupgrade/
Also if you do a lot of flashing it is recommended that you always flash back to an official ROM before you switch to a newer WM6/WM6.1 ROM.
For example, I had TNT 6.1 but wanted to upgrade to WM6.1 Slim 4.0. Here are the steps:
1) Backed up all data
2) Flashed down to T-Mobile 2.26 ROM
3) Flashed to WM6.1 Slim 4.0
4) Flashed the radio ROM I wanted (UK 2.19)
5) Flashed the IPL/SPL ROM I wanted (3.08/3.08)
6) Restore backed up data
Best way to backup and restore your contacts, SMSes, etc is FdcSoft's PPCPIMBackup. You can find it here in forum.
yes, that is a good system, but for G3 devices! When flashing a G4, DO NOT EVER flash ANY IPL/SPL to your phone or it WILL become a brick.
@ashasaur... I was planning to flash the Slim v4.0 on my G4 MDA (it says it is G4 safe). Do I need to flash a radio ROM too? Isnt it part of the Slim ROM ?
I have backed up my data using the dotfred's PIMBackup (v2.8)
yes, the Slim v4.0 is indeed G4 safe...im using on my G4 right now ASAF. You can flash a new radio ROM if you wish, but it is not required, the radio ROMs are a different part of the system, and not included with the regular OS ROMs...newer radio ROMs give better reception for some, but they are not required when flashing a new OS ROM.
Thanks @ashasaur... I plan to flash on weekend... will post my results here ... One more question... since you already have Slim 4.0 on your Wizard... do you see any issues specially regarding Bluetooth, Wifi, GPRS/EDGE (I have Tmobile Web plan)? Thanks.
Hi all,
My first time being a productive member of this great forum (or at least, I hope so ).
I've been wanting to flash the ROM on my Touch HD with Orange UK (something I've never done before), but as an "insurance policy", wanted to have a backup of the stock ROM in case I have he need to restore it, or need to send back the phone to Orange for some reason. After searching the Internet at large and this forum in particular, I was unable to find a dump of the same ROM version as the one I have (1.19.61.1) with Orange UK, so after an hour or more of searching and reading, I was finally able to follow the steps to extract the ROM from memory in .raw format and then reassemble it as an .nbh file using the itsutils tools and the Blackstone "Kitchen" tools. The reference ROM I used for the reconstruction process was this one (found through the forums):
RUU_BlackStone_HKCSL_WWE_1.19.831.0_Radio_52.49a.2 5.26_1.09.25.14_Ship.exe
Here are the complete details regarding the ROM I'm posting, from the Device Information program of my phone:
Operator version: 34.119.1.611
ROM version: 1.19.61.1 WWE
ROM date: 11/25/08
Radio version: 1.09.25.14
Protocol version: 52.49a.25.26U
The process seems to have gone smoothly, and I have ended up with ruu_signed.nbh file, which I have uploaded for you all on Rapidshare and Mediafire.
However, I have not actually flashed my device with this ROM (since this is the current ROM on my device, and having no actual experience in flashing yet, the result might seem a bit ambigious to me) I would really appreciate it if someone would verify whether it actually works or not, so people don't heap curses on me if it doesn't... I'm just a newbie, remember.
So without further ado:

This is exactly what i need! Hope its working for the both of us!

Hi Guys,
I've got the HTC currentyl configured with a custom ROM. Lately it has been giving me trouble in sending/receiving text messages, not receiving incoming calls, not downloading weather data automatially etc.
I did try installing a couple of different ROM's and had the same problem. So I thought I will go back to the original stock ROM and OS and see if I still have the problem and then get HTC support to look into it.
Now, the thing is, I dunno how to find the Stock OS. I found several threads with regards to going back to the stock ROM... but no one seems to talk abt the OS. I had windows 6.1 installed along with Manilla 2.1 on the phone originally.
Pls help me....
From this thread. It is basically the reverse of flashing. ie Flash rom and radio (normally in one package) and then flash to stock spl.
How to reflash Stock/Shipped SPL - STEP BY STEP
0. be sure to first restore stock OS, and stock radio. stock SPL is always to be done last!! (You can find stock roms here)
1. download your choice of a stock spl package from this post. (currently either 1.13, 1.14, 1.15, 1.54 - depending on the rom used)
2. also download the original hardspl from the attachments in the above linked post.
3. run the hardspl exe but do not click anything in RUU yet. just let the hardspl EXE extract the files for flashing.
4. the SPL you want to revert to is a .NBH file, put the stock SPL NBH in the extracted hardspl package, overwriting the original NBH file in it!
5. continue with the RUU (or if needed, run SSPL-Manual.exe manually, then run RUU when it goes to tricolour 1.07.OliNex screen), it goes to 100%, reboots, done.
+6. to verify, enter bootloader mode, see version number on tricolour screen, should now just say 1.14.0000 or any other version ending in .0000, but not ending in OliNex!
that's it.
+7. no worries: if your device is stuck in bootloader mode with Hard-SPL and you need warranty service, you can still flash stock SPL.

hihi, some question about Hard spl
Assuming that I'm already flash Hard spl and a cook ROM installed,
1. if i wanna get back to ROM and data backup-ed data by sprint mobile backup, what are that step that i should follow? Do i need to flash original HTC ROM and radio, re-flash HTC spl, then restore using sprint mobile backup?
2. Can original HTC ROM operate on Hard spl ?( on some proprietary phone using different spl with original ROM will turn the phone into brick, just asking to confirm )
3. If for warranty reason, i reflash HTC spl, the next time i wanna install a cook rom, is there a need to flash Hard spl again ?
About windows and ROM
Which version of winMo offer better memory management? 6.5.x, x mean 1/3/5 ? The current 6.5 need to be restart every 1/2 days.
Thanks for looking through my question

-If you've backed up your data from a specific stock ROM, only restore your system data to the same ROM. PIM data can be restored to any ROM.
-Stock ROM will automaitcally reflash your radio as well.
-There is no need to flash back to SSPL unless you are returning for warranty.
-If its for a warranty return, you flash back to stock ROM, flash SSPL, then restore your data.
2. Can original HTC ROM operate on Hard spl ?( on some proprietary phone using different spl with original ROM will turn the phone into brick, just asking to confirm )
-Stock ROMs can operate on HSPL, however if it is an older ROM, you want to downgrade your HSPL from 2.51 to 1.83.
3. If for warranty reason, i reflash HTC spl, the next time i wanna install a cook rom, is there a need to flash Hard spl again ?
-If you flash SSPL, you would have flash HSPL again to flash a cooked ROM.

-Most cooked ROMs are optimized for best memory management regardless of the version. You can also get a memory management app, such as ClearTemp or Memaid.
