Isn't the Kaiser more of a do-it-all and the Touch Diamond more of a show piece?
Silly comparison. They're both slow if you look the GLBenchmarks compared to most Nokias, iPhones, and SonyEricssons.
HTC+Qualcomm == dredging the bottom of the barrel.

GLbenchmarks mean nothing if you use your phone for a true multidevice. Lets see Iphone let me use it as a cellular modem, give me full customization of its OS, VNC/SSH into my servers, remotely administer my clients networks via VPN access, ...... this list can go on forever. Bottom of the barrel you say???? Hrmmmmmm.
As far as Slow goes.......... dual cores handling the OS and radio systems isnt what i consider slow...............
Lets keep on topic.
Kaiser = Power User phone. Diamond is a beautiful stand in with a bit less functionality.

Dual Core sounds nice BUT, all phones have 2 chips, 1 to wake the other, and in Kaiser 1 is used solely to process call information, and if you look at the actual UI speed... not what I call Fast. Doesn't matter how many processors power Kaiser, it's slow as it stands now.
Cool Comparison:

Hi:
Why do you say it has less functionality? I'm not contradicting you, I am really asking, because I thought the Diamond would have the same capabilities as the Kaiser. After hearing the rumors that AT&T will get the Touch Pro, I was so excited to get one, but now I'm worried it may not be as functional as the Tilt.
Along the same lines, I was wondering, does the VGA screen pose a problem? What I mean is as far as compatibility with most games, programs etc?
Thanks!

A more logical comparison would be Kaiser vs Touch Pro...

flash memory / expandability (card slot)? QWERTY? in these, the Kaiser is way better
I suppose it's pretty individual issue. Diamond has faster CPU, VGA screen, sexy interface with 4Gb internal memory without expansion slot, so as a result this is rather alternative to iPhone with limited advantage of using loads of free or hacked WM software limited by those 4Gb only.
Keiser is solid QWERTY-featured 100% WM device with all its outcome. For instance I had been using HTC Blue Angel (wich is actually direct ancestor of Keiser) for 4 years and done to it almost everything except direct sexual intercourse.
The choice of XDA veteran.

Does the Diamond have Drivers? Maybe its because the CPU isnt getting its ass beat by drawing the screen all day long.
Could be another benefit to getting working drivers on the kaiser.
just a thought.
Toshiba G810 better even they are using MSM7200 400Mhz which is same as TYTN 2.
Look at the video , the drawing speed is much much smoother and faster than our TYTN2 .... HTC , you really need to DO SOMETHING.

Once I get a g810 I will rom dump both to cook my own and will pass it around for the drivers, if this is still needed... let me know.

Probably stunted machine currently but actually supported by Google with a lot of regular future upgrades -- drivers too! Can't beat that.
$200?!?!?
Jeez - I paid $50 for it new at AT&T last November when it came out (gotta LOVE those rebates).

I wonder how it performs as far as smooth video playback is concerned (compared to the Kaiser using Windows Pocket Media Player 10.3). Not because I'm interested in getting a G1 (just like the Touch Pro, I believe it doesn't have the tilting screen of the TyTN II) but because I want to know just what the hardware is capable of in terms of processing power when proper drivers are used.
sold my tytn II also
It never worked as i hoped and expected. . .
my old ipaq 2210 did a better job showing video's and recorded tv shows.
that 's one big reason to sell for me.
the lag when ending a phonecall and screen rotating with sms did the rest.
I like the looks of the new touch HD but that seems also lagging and is not able to play video in its native resolution so it looks like more of the same but then in a higher resolution.
calling it HD and not been able to play native resolution video?
i lost my confidence in HTC for their lack in proper 2D and 3D drivers with my TYTN II, and will not travel the same road with their HD. . . . . .
A standard gsm will do for now, awaiting newer OS and Hardware.
XDA rocks tho!
I'm looking for the best GPS navigation system I can find for this system? Anyone have some good suggestions?

I can vouch for OCN8. VGA is STUNNING on OCN8. And yes, it does have TTS. You may have to ask tech support for the TTS sound file since it does require a minimum of 128MB memory, which the Raphael has plenty of memory. It's absolutely responsive and USABLE!

So you don't have to pay per month for OCN8? Is it possible to just purchase the program without the microsd card? I'm sure it would be cheaper that way.
I'm using the AT&T navigator which is telenav and it works great. It's very fast and I love all the features. I got a 30 day free trial with the phone but after that it's $10 a month and that will end up being way more expensive than OCN8.

Unfortunately, the OCN copy protection scheme locks you into using their microSD card. You can't copy or install it to a different card.
The AT&T Navigator can also be purchased on a day-at-a-time basis if you cancel your subscription. If you only use it occasionally, that could be a reasonable way to go; I think it's $4 per day.

what needs to change in the sys.txt? I tried iGO8 but it wouldn't run...
I tried igo and TT(not 7). Both works fine. I think the layout of the igo looks neat and works ok. But I like many others have noticed that on the TP (Fuze) youre lagging a few car lengths behind where it should be on the map.
Have some fun, have it say the different Hawaiian street names.lol
Holy crap! Is that igo for the USA? Oh man, I'm so temped to buy that if you say it has no lag on the TP(Fuze).
Btw, I was reading the site, it doesn't list 480x640(whatever the Fuze is) as a display mode...but at the same time, it says vga..?
QVGA or VGA touch screen display
Supported Screen Resolution 320x240 or 240x320
240x240

I am very partial to CoPilot and find it works very well on my TP.
I asked Chacha: "What's a good GPS navigation system for a WM touch screen device? I need TTS and would prefer 3D to 2D."
Chacha Responded with "Harman Kardon's Guide + Play GPS-810 portable navigator offers a full-featured navigation experience in an easy-to-use package."

'twer it me, It would come down to only two things to decide.
1.) Do I want Windows Mobile or can I deal with Android.
2.) Do I want a slide out keyboard or screen keyboard.
Those would be the only two deciding factors for me. Everything else is either comparable or it not that important to me.
If the Hero comes with HTC Sense., that would sway me towards the Hero. ( WoW , cool, first one on the block factor )
Get both. Problem solved.

I would much rather the hardware keyboard. I have a Kaiser, and while I haven't used another HTC screen keyboard, I have used the one on my son's LG Vu and my wife's iPhone, and I still prefer the hardware keyboard. As does my son, who can't wait for me to upgrade to the TP II so he can inherit my Tilt.

Hi l3v5y
I haven´t used them but thinking on how important is to me the keyboard I´ll go for TP2 with my eyes closed
Cheers,
yeah me too inclined towards hardware keyboard factor
but then you should also consider the qualcomm driver issue if you use the device for heavy multimedia applications
i will choose touch pro 2 for my kind of use
Videos of the Hero show me that it's virtual keyboard is one of the best out there so maybe give it a shot before passing judgment. The Touch HD's onscreen keyboard was mediocre but Finger Keyboard 2.1 solved my issues.

Hehe...
I might have a Hero for sale soon... I might not though... Need to get it sorted out first though.
I like to follow the idea of not judging a book by its cover. For example, I decided an iPhone was not at all worth its sticker price after trying it out off friends. I did enjoy its apps and wanted them so I ended up getting an iPod touch just so I can use those apps. That's why you should try out that phone. If you are truly unsatisfied, then yes go for the TP2. Another phone that seems worth a look is the Samsung Omnia Pro btw. The OLED screen and 800MHz CPU make for attractive options.
Be a happy wm user and get the TP2!
ID rather had a hardware keyboard also after losing my Wing (repairs atm) its kind of a pain using an onscreen keyboard and im using the opal so now hardware keyboard .
Another TP2
WM & Hardware keyboard do it for me
Oh and it just looks awesome
had WM from the 1st orange spv (nov 2002)
now have a hero....got to say try one before you judge it
the phone is.......VERY good

Need to get a contract organised, but it's looking like I might go towards the Rhodium... Purely because I really like WM at the moment, and like the direction it's going. But, I'll try a Hero if and when I get one, and might love it...

It's not bad on its own merits, it's just that everyone else is using 1GHz Snapdragons and to make it even worse the X2 really isn't that much different from the X1.
I think an X2 will simply be too difficult to justify for a X1 owner.
yupp... hd2. the only thing that is going to be cool in x2 is the camera. other bits simply suck balls. tv out? what for? hardware qwerty? well... this one is good, but I am typing faster on hd2 now than on x1, so I am not bothered. anything else?
