I bought a T-Mobile G1 off ebay, but its locked
If I flash the rom will it unlock it? I have no reply from seller and tmobile wont give me unlock code unless original user contacts them (must be 90 days use)
Or anyone know how to unlock? I'm in Australia
Thanks.

When you flash the phone it will not unlock it. You can use one of the other unlocking services they offer online.
Do they work? Is there anyway I can get it done free?

Yes they work. Alot of people on here have done it. The only way you can get it done for free is thru T-Mobile. Even tho you bought the phone second hand they should still do it for you, but being your in Australia I don't know if there policy is different. You can try to find someone you trust in the US and give them you IMEI and have them call it in for you.
Good luck with tmo, I tried everything even when I was a customer and they said wait 90 days. After I cancelled with them and asked again they said you have to be a customer with G1 data plan for 90 days. Other then that there is NO NO NO free way to unlock.
I have unlocked my girls G1 and my own with www.unlock-tmobileg1.com for $24 bucks and I got the code in about 20 minutes, another member here asked me what to use and I pointed him to them, he got his code in 12 minutes. I heard you can do it on ebay for a little less but I never tried it so I can't say for sure.

I wouldn't unlock your phone either. You prolly didn't pay your bill you cheap s.o.b.
Nope, and I suckered my way out of the contract without paying a ETF, after only 26 days. Har Har Har, 2 new G1's for only 150 each and first months bill. Oh and got it online when they had the free activation sale.

Yea I don't think that would work for me considering I had that line for about 3 years. And I won't get rid of my other line with the G1 so they would be like you get service on one phone but not the other.
Tell them your son is in a boarding school out in the boondocks and he gets no service there. Just use the coverage map and see what area closest to you get little to no service. They will take 3 or 4 days to check it out then you can get out with no ETF. Gotta be crafty with your lies, just cuz you had service for 3 years doesn't matter much since now your son is going to school in a area without any reception, with you being a long standing customer AND having other lines they would rather keep you happy and lose 1 lines then risk losing you completely.

Been looking at some AR's. Want to get me an assault rifle before they try to put another ban on em. I'm just ready. I've had to many issues at my past apartments. Now that I'm in my house now I'm low key but ready. But I was thinking about ditching ADT cause well **** you just read what I got.

You talking about when the screen is out and you press on the screen?
Okay, so I have an AT&T N1. I've been in Mexico for the last half of last week. I got my N1 just over two weeks ago. For some insane reason, according to AT&T's website, I've used 2260 mb of data since 5/24. I don't stream movies to my phone (was using iPhone previously), don't download movies to them, nothing like that.
Does this sound even remotely right? It seems so far out in left field for me that I'm really confused as to what's going on. Anyone else have similar usage?
I was looking at my data usage and found it has increased dramatically with my N1. I am on ATT and noticed on a daily basis around 1:00 a.m. I send anywhere from 3.6 - 8.1 megabytes... I don't know what it is or where it goes.
any ideas?

I wanna say before my N1 I was hovering around 700mb monthly. After, like I said, I'm up to 2260. I was using Google Listen to download over 3G, but there's no way it grabbed enough podcasts over 3G to account for this increase.

you sure about that? because i use listen religiously, and guess what, it downloads ALL your subscriptions automatically. go into listen and check all your subsciptions and see if each episode has the size underneath it. if it does, it was downloaded to your device.
this happens to me all the time.
I have my Nexus One for two weeks now, too. In that time, my Nexus One has received approx. 200 MB and sent 10 MB, mostly via WLAN.
To get an overview yourself, go to the dialer and enter *#*#4636#*#* (*#*#INFO#*#*) as described in another thread on this forum. An activity called "Testing" will appear. Select "Battery history". Select "Network usage" from the first drop-down selector, and "Total in all time" from the second one.
A button list will appear with all applications that have contributed to your traffic. Blue is received bytes, red is sent bytes. Just tap the button to get the details.
You might use this data to compare it to the information you got from the provider.
Eek, you used 2 gigs of data internationally?

That's a problem alright.
OP, double check what is being synced and how often. If you are traveling internationally, TURN DATA OFF and leech off of wifi where you can.
I've been running around 500mb/month tops since I got my N1. I really don't stream much, and I use wifi instead of 3g as much as possible to save battery. I am just guessing that most of my data use is for the GPS Nav, which I have used occasionally and never on a long trip. I haven't really been worried about data use, since I have an unlimited plan, but I'll definitely remember this for next time I leave the States.
I used 24 GB's last month, but I was also doing a lot of tethering. 2 GB can easily be done in a couple of days depending on what you do...

I don't know for sure, but I have a pretty good idea of what it is. Usage data. Everything you touched, where you touched it, how long you touched it... wow that sounds dirty.
haha, anyway. Usage data. Everything you did on the phone. Every button that was pressed, how many milliseconds you spent doing this or that. How long you spent reading something and what angle the phone was at during that time. Anything and everything they can track, gathered up and sent back to be processed.
What do they do with all that data? I don't know which is more important to them, but they'll use it to make the phone and UI better. Make it smoother and find out what features people do and don't use. They are also going to look at what methods would be best to send advertising to you and sell more AdWords to companies.

No, no no no. I'm much smarter than that. My guess would be the podcasts, I suppose, but I just don't remember getting THAT many. It just shocked me to see such a high number when I expected less (I'm grandfathered in to the unlimited data, but was curious anyways).
I use about 2Gb a month when I do not tether. It goes up from there depending on how much I tether but it rarely goes above 10-11 Gb.
I am also going to be grandfathered into the unlimited data plan and was wondering if some of you who use 10+ GB a month are on AT&T? Any complaints from them about using so much data?
averaging around 4-6gb last few months, some tethering for work and what not. Mainly from playing with new roms and seeing what I like.

I wonder if that is what process 1013 is? I used the *#*#INFO*#*# and could see all the processes and bytes (amazing how much data passes doing a speed test). I could drill in on all of the processes except for 1013 .. it crashed every time and I couldn't find any info on what that process is.
I've been using between 500MB and 1GB since I got the N1 in January. Only one month so far did I actually got over 1GB. Probably most of that is from music streaming and navigation in the car. I'm curious to see how that usage changes when I get my wifi tethering

Anyone know a faster way to get in contact with Google
Nope. I was on hold + call for 75min 41s.
I called them last night, was on hold for 55 minutes, told them of my issue (dent on Nexus 7 out of the box), guy said he will need to escalate the issue, asked for my email address, and that they'd contact me within 48 hrs. Talked to the guy for about 2 minutes.
I've received an email about our conversation and currently waiting for a real response...

Google is really going to lengths in order to deny us proper support. We need a news site to get this in the public.
Just keep pressing 0. If youre already in a call then don't press 0 because it might reset your 'on hold time'. That's how I always get to an operators

Yes, I can see it now. "Breaking news at this hour! Phone support line for new product is backed up during the first week after release! In other breaking news, sky is still blue!"
Just put it on speaker mode and grab a book.
I'd read that the wait was an hour and more......but after a few beers, I had 20 minutes spare before turning to bed and decided to ring the 0800 UK number for a laugh. I rang at 2150 BST and to my astonishment, my call was answered after 7 minutes of Vivaldi! I choose option 2.
Buddy of mine was on hold for about an hour and a half last night. His N7 screen flickers. I'm kinda glad I waited until a Retail release now and bought mine through Sam's, that way I could take it back to the retail location if a problem arose, however mine is working perfectly with no problems so I guess I'm lucky..

Took mine into the local AT&T store and was told that they weren't going to have any in stock until tomorrow. Seems odd as they go on sale tomorrow, but whatever. What pissed me off was when they said that they couldn't hold one for me and that it would be on a first come, first served basis. I pre-ordered the damn thing a month ago. Pretty sure I am first. After expressing that he said he would give my name to his manager to "try" and hold one. The store is going to have a pretty loud mess on their hands if i can't get my hands on one.

facing same issue camera lens on back getting warm even when not on charge. For some operations getting blank screen as if it is not responding but so far so good.
Completely drained battery and recharged to 100% it took exactly 2 hours.

Then they simply call the police to escort you out the store. Trust me, we've done it plenty of times before. Customer service is the only department that conforms to demands when someone is yelling at them. In store, we say we're gonna get the manager and happily walk to the back and call the police. Then we come back out right as the police show up so we can wave goodbye. And its first come first serve. Placing a pre-order a month ago doesn't give you priority in-store. Just fyi.

I wont yell and scream. I have a little more class and sophistication than that. I will however chew ass into a manager of what I perceive as a bad business practices. If at&t can't take of customers that have already given them money for a product that is defective, then I have an issue.
If its a warranty claim within 14 days (which it obviously is) then they should replace in store just bring the original box and everything in it so they have no excuse.

Hey,
So i have the note 4 and my gf and i like to fall sleep but after 4 hour the call cuts out is there a way to override this i have rooted my device etc. Were getting her a new Samsung s5 any ideas thanks guys.
I think the first thing I would try is using an app to keep the screen on on both phones and have both phones plugged in. And, definitely no power saver mode or battery saver apps.
Ah, the 4 hour phone calls. I remember those days... Weren't no such thing as a cellphone back then. If I'm on the phone more than 5 minutes these days, there's something wrong!
I believe this is a network feature and if it can be overridden, the carrier would have to do it
^^^^ exactly the way I feel haha

I would try google voice and use a google voice number maybe that will keep u on
I haven't been able to find anything official on T-Mobile's site, but you'll see people on other phones (iPhones, Blackberry, etc...) complaining about the 4 hour limit. It's not a device issue, and there's no "block" on your account, it's just the way T-Mobile's network works.
The only thing I can recommend (apart from switching carriers, obviously) is a Hangouts voice call. If you both have Hangouts installed on your phone you can initiate a voice call and have no time limit. Just make sure you're on WiFi (or an unlimited data plan) since it uses data, not minutes.
