Hi all, I'm running Drizzy's Superlight Hero ROM (no Rosie) on a Vodafone Magic 32B and what I want is to get 5 home screens rather than just 3.
I know Advanced Launcher is capable of this and I have tried several different Launcher.apk's downloaded from various topics here but the phone would not boot with any of them. Only replacing the backed up original would get the phone working again.
So does anyone know of an Advanced Launcher version which will work on this phone & ROM?

yeah +1 on this one too. I tried pushing the apk but just won't work and just freezes the phone...
only thing Im doing right now is put folders in with apps just to get by. too bad we can change the folder icon for the mean time

Maybe you should try with FreshFace.
My G1 will not go past the boot screen, I tried to change the theme by adding a update.zip file to the sd card and now the phone will not boot up. It gets stuck at the G1 screen. The phone was rooted; however, for some reason that no longer comes up when I hold the HOME and END buttons. I tried uploading RC29 - RC33 to try and fix the problem and got this message:

By 'that' do you mean the recovery console? Did you flash cyan's 1.4 recovery? Can you enter bootloader/fastboot? What rom did you have? What theme did you flash?
Yes, the recovery console doesn't show up the way it would if the phone were rooted, it comes up the unrooted way. I did flash cyan's 1.4 recovery though, so I'm confused to why this is happening. I don't know what bootloader/fastboot is, but if that's whats supposed to come up after holding the camera and end button then I don't think I have it. A colorful striped screen shows up. I had Cupcake 1.5 installed and I was trying to add a theme from theunlockr. com called Hero Theme by Tehseano & Moonsspoon. I hope that helped..
Possibly the theme you tried to install didn't go with the rom you have. But some background information will help to fix your problem.
What background information do you need?
Just like the second poster said. What rom were you on? What theme did you try to flash, and what was it compatible with? I know you said you tried to reflash RC29, did that ever work?
Sorry, I'm new to this Android stuff. I don't know what ROM I was on, all I know is that I had Cupcake 1.5 installed. There had been no previous themes applied beforehand.

So you had JF rom with a theme then tried to install what theme? You may have to reflash a stock DREAIMG.nbh and start from scratch.
But you really need to provide more information.
How would I reflash it? What other information would be helpful, I'm sorry I'm trying to give all of the info that I can, but I don't know what else you need to know. Please email me at [email protected] if possible. Thank you.
Prolly your best bet is to start from scratch. Reflash RC29 and continue from there. But this time make sure you know whats on your phone and what your flashing.

I searched and now considering that the rom of Super Aosp DM 2.8.2 is nice ,but i can not find where to download it, can someone give me the link ?
by the way,as i am not very sure how to upgrade .i hope some one could give me some advices .

Here you go. Download for SuperAosp DM 2.8.2. FYI, the site is in Spanish so you'll have to do the traanslation.

BTW! You want to update your radio / SPL to 27.08 (radio) and 13d (SPL) Your current SPL/radio will not work with this ROM. Also, after you flashed the ROM alos flash the 15MB boot behind it. Then your ROM will not get stuck at the splash screen.
MAKE SURE THAT YOU HAVE ROOTED YOUR PHONE!
DISCLAIMER: I am not responsilble if you bricked your G1.
What you want to do is to make sure you have Amon RA Recovery loaded first.
copy everything into your root SD card. (IE: SPL, radio, ROM and the 15MB-root).
Boot into RA Recovery.
Flash radio and SPL.
Flash the ROM.
Flash 15MB-boot.
Reboot and wait until your phone finish loading.... (DO NOT TAKE OUT YOUR BATTERY)

You'll love this ROM like I do, only one thing about this ROM (but I can live with it) is that the coder is from Spain (or that area), and I think he accidentally hardcode some of the thing in his language in the setting area. But the words are understandable.

Hmm, did you run all the flash including the 15MB-boot file? Try to run that again. Also what radio do u have as of now?
Also, go to setting >> SupSetup >> Options >> App2SD and LinuxSwap
You can adjust the steeing in that area to your liking. Some of them will make you reboot your phone.
You can activate App2SD and the Linux Swap in that area. There are a lot of Setting in the SupSetup that can optimize your phone. You'll have to play with it until you get the setting you like. Even with the default setting, it will be good.
I just picked another rom,for one reason,i found it a little unconvenience for me with my phone language as English,as i am from China.maybe i'll try it latter,thanks anyway

i am back again! here is the good news:a few days ago some one has localized the AOSP DM 2.8.2 and now i am back again !with 88.89MB memory available and swapon,it runs smothly as you say,now i got all i have and it still have 70MB memory free.Despite some little problem,everything goes well!so here i would like to share this with you and thanks again.

What are the little problem? I will try to assist. I think I solved most if not all the small gliches on my end.

Thanks for your concern .It's just that for several times i have met this:for example,for some of the adw's settings and some other settings where there was a upper window ,it seemed not to display correctly, i had to open the keyboard to let the window show.maybe it was because the animination plugin（i did not know the English name）,recently i turned off the animination and it turned out to be just ok .now everything seems to be fine .
Here is another question.the GPS never worked out,it probaly not about this ROM 'cause for the earlier ones the GPS did not work either(it just cannot find singnal ).i think it's the GPS modual's problem ,any sugguestions?

It's not the ROM, I am pretty sure of. Personnally I turn GPS off, because I don't use it.
As far as the ADW, I suggested that you replace that with other Launcher (IE: Go Launcher EX, or LauncherPro) ADW seem to not work too well. But if you have that thing works the way you want then that is fine.

universal androot wont work.
rom manager hangs several times.
usb debugger is on.
i've got in my menu superuser machtingen. can click it.
works, but no apps will install the recovery.
who nows the answer. i want to have gingerbread or yoshi on it.

i've done that, on the grey menu he say's access denied.
the downgrade wont work. also the goldcard wont work
and oneclick wont work also. so who nows the answer

Stupid question. Which phone do you have? US T-Mobile? Rogers Dream? etc...
Depending on which phone you have. You are required to use a specific nbh file.
IE: dreaming.nbh for US T-Mobile...
There are RC7 and RC29 (if I remembered it right) for different G1 phone.
Also, you will have to format your SD card using FAT partition.

One more thing, if that is what I think it is. It's US T-Mobile, then you will need to use RC29, not RC7. But you have to confirm that first.

Hello new here and was wondering if HBOOT-1.33.0013d, Radio-2.22.27.08 can boot old 1.5 hero roms i tried but seems to get stuck at HTC splash screen am i missing something? can anyone point me in the right direction? thanks.

why bother with 1.5 sense anyway... just flash a newer sense rom with 2708 kernel...
dont search for roms in the rom bible lol its old and out-dated
well i was using SenseLX (Great Rom) and i wasn't receiving messages and i use camcorder here and there and i know the camcorder was working on 1.5 hero. going to go head and give SenseLX another go and see if i can receive messages
the message issue is 1 of 2 things... minfree values are set too high.. or 'ATK' if your using it... uncheck messages on kill list so it never gets terminated.. still trying to solve that issue, sorry lol i actually need a tester who can flash the rom without minfree to see if this helps with mms issue... if you are willing to try?

ok just got back to my phone didn't flash minfree, ATK set to ultimate i didn't uncheck messages i wanted to see if ATK set to ultimate was causing the mms problem but mms is working now anything else you would like me to test?
no thats all i needed to know thanks for the testing, so i will try lowering minfree values. if you want to test that? lol trying to make it so you dont need a task killer app
